I prefer the current system. As a necromancer, it takes a lot more skill and thought to remove stability — easily the most important boon to corrupt — because it’s last on the priority list. That’s much more interesting than simply corrupting it every single time, no questions asked.
It’s good on that scenario. But on the condi removal side of things, when a typical condispam class can unload a plethora of conditions, there also has to be some sort of priority in removing the most dangerous condi first since condition removal is not that easy to get by on most builds. Because AFAIK, condi removal works on a FIFO sort of mechanic. I honestly don’t know. But if I want to use condi removal, it’s usually because I want to remove immob, chill, a minute stack of burn or 25 stacks of bleed and not Vulnerability.

Good idea. Problem is most if not all conditions are spammed through auto attacks or hard to read animations that all look the same on a particular profession. And most of these condition stacking skills apply more than one condition most of the time so..

What we need is some sort of downtime to condi-spam. A necro-engie tandem can nuke a point and will eventually apply all kinds of available condi on anyone standing there regardless of how many blocks, evades, condi clear and whatnot since condi spamming skills in addition to random procs recharge way faster than all your defensive cooldowns.

I see bunker/bunkerish prof everywhere, TTK is slow and th game is dominated by wars/guards/engies/necros, with the last one rising even more now that godmode soldier hambows and thieves have been nerfed.
There are a lot more necros and engies as of late. I thought it was just me.
And yeah, as for the fun part, it’s slowly going away. At this point, I really don’t know anything that can save the game. Increasing population size by attracting PVE farmers is good. But the quality of matches has gone from bad to terribad. It’s just sad.

As i’ve been saying for weeks now, Elemental Attunement is a class-defining trait. A caster-only version of it should be baseline, then you can have a 20pt trait for the AOE version.

That’s not a bad idea at all if alacrity aligned with element cd reduction so you could still flow with your rotations. I know Jon mentioned the thought of making alacrity reduced by 25% not sure if they are going to do that or not.
I really really wish they do add elemental CD reduction for every particular alacrity traits. Like in the lines of:
20% reduction on X element spells
10% increased attunement recharge rate on X element
Only then will I consider ever traiting them.

In team/node fights, zerker staff excel at wiping the other team so fast with just one meteor and lava font as long as heat is not on ele and he’s on a safe range WITH teammates fighting on the node.
In other cases, like 1v1, when ele is alone and is forced to fight ON the node, or a roamer is always on his tail, he’s dead meat and useless unless he’s really good at positioning and evading because zerker ele is so paperthin.
The common thing with the meta builds right now is that they can sustain, survive and fight on a point and can do well alone. Zerker staff ele don’t excel at any of those things.

Condition spammers cry a lot especially with 1v1 if DS traited. Teamfights, it’s barely noticeable or rather useless most of the time.
Other than that, I’m better off still going 30 water with the new Soothing Wave since it’s a party-wide effect. DS is pretty selfish.

It’s planned that all PvP/PvE armours will be able to be taken to each other game mode, but I think that is the wrong direction to go in, personally, because it devalues the sets in PvE that are hard to obtain there at the same time as devaluing the sets in PvP that are hard to obtain here.
They should keep them separate, I don’t even know why they’re joining them.
Yes there are sets that are easier to obtain in one area or the other way around but I think they are going in the right direction here. What they should have done or should do though was/is to make PVE exclusive sets and PVP exclusive sets. That way, the essence of prestige and separation of game modes are there even if gears become universal.

I like the changes. Yeah, arcane wave ain’t that instant because it’s ranged now but there’s an option for fast cast AOE spells. Just hover your mouse on top of your character if you’re about to faceroll all your instant skills including arcane wave. About that new necromancer heal doesnt it steal health? I mean you say that the new heal is bad and that diamond skin is overpowered why not just use your new heal steal health 1 or 2k and bam diamond skin aint taking effect.
Wasting my heal, given my profession has some of the worst sustain in the game, just to overcome your passive effect seems kind of unbalanced.
Of course any scenario where Necro doesn’t immediately melt face and have a heal left over for afterwards is ‘unbalanced’. You’re not ‘wasting’ the skill, you’re using it for effect.
Don’t expect a lot of sympathy if you have the capability to win an encounter but refuse to use the appropriate skills on principle.
But, but, but, what about build variety and play how you want to play kind of principle?
Yeah, whiners gonna whine. This trait is definitely a diamond counter and is absurdly OP in a 1v1 situation however only against a certain type of build but borderline useless in teamfights. Learn to pick fights or adapt to a well-rounded build if you want to stand a chance against all builds available out there.
Pro-tip: Don’t 1v1 a DS ele if you’re a pure condi-spam build.
Don’t get me wrong. I personally do not like this kind of approach to fix a broken condi-spam mechanic. Instead of fixing the real issue, they add yet another facepalm issue. But as it stands, DS will stay for a while, and until that nerf or change to DS comes (probably won’t), like what all eles did after the blow by blow nerfs and dhuumfire patch, try to adapt or reroll a warrior.

The very simplest thing you could do is have some sort of chime play when your match is ready (and have that sound always play, even if Guild Wars 2 isn’t the active window). The chime alone would reduce 4v5s by a good amount. Even better than that would be to have an “Are you ready?” pop up to verify that you aren’t afk when the queue pops. If you click no or don’t answer, you get removed from the queue and the others go back into queue and wait for a replacement. This is super necessary for solo q.

I hope that this will not be the case. The new rewards/progression stuff they said they aren’t ready to talk about yet might be the sort of constraint you are looking for IF the existing PVP skins (which will not be MF craftable anymore since PVP MF will be abolished as stated ) can be bought with gold.
I’m not entirely sure where we’re really heading with this since like you, I’m also worried that PVE players can just hop in on PVP and buy everything with their stack of gold once glory is removed and gold becomes the universal currency. THAT would be a total ripoff to the hardcore PVP community. However, I’m hoping that the new system they will implement can at least iron out the items and currency system we have right now:
- WvW players can buy gears with badges and gold
- PVE players can buy gears with gold and dungeon tokens
- PVP players can buy gears(skins only) with gold and glory
After changes:
- WvW players can buy gears with badges and gold
- PVE players can buy gears with gold and/or dungeon tokens
- PVP players can buy gears(skins only) with gold and ???
But with glory being abolished, what’s there to distinguish PVP players from PVE players? I get that they want to integrate PVP with the rest of the game, but with the removal of glory, what kind of system will differentiate PVP stuff from PVE stuff? The OCD in me doesn’t like the idea of PVP and PVE being too meshed together since it feels unbiased to PVP players if PVE players can easily buy PVP stuff after the changes just because they have more gold than the typical PVP player especially when there’s no glory-gold exchange that will be happening other than the temporary glory vendors which sells stuff for both glory AND gold. That’s just a bit unjustified IMO. If they are doing this to limit the buying power of skyhammer glory farmers, I think that they have to deal with them in a way that does not kitten the legit PVP players. They should have dealt with those guys with perma-ban or rollback.

I play both classes and here is my 2cents:
- thief has mobility, stealth, very high single target spike and can easily reset the fight
- elementalist has nice animations

Anyway, shocking aura on a 25sec CD may sound OP. But that 25second CD is not an automatic proc every 25 seconds. It procs when the ele is CCed. It cannot be activated by the ele at will. I can easily Magic Bullet the ele from a safe 900 range on my Mesmer and that Shocking Aura will do NOTHING to me since it only stuns melee attackers.

Although to be entirely honest..If the enemy team manages to acheive that level of teamwork to protect that paper made ele from you then it kind of deserves to have access to that pwoerfull aoe.

Nuker staff ele will basically be useless once a deeps roamer whatever even tries to chase it away since it’s usefulness is solely based on nuking a point on a far and safe range. Once that safe position is harassed, it’s a dead ele either being chased away from doing what it’s supposed to be doing or dying in less than 3 seconds. But if it is completely ignored, it will definitely bring havoc on node fights. So that’s pretty much an appropriate risk/reward kind of gameply right there.
And if OPs prediction really does come true after the patch, that’s just good news because to be honest, staff ele or heck any ele build is seeing ZERO play in it’s current state. When was the last time you ever saw a successful zerker staff ele on a competitive scene?

Although their armors will greatly benefit Humans and Norn and Sylvari to an extent but might be very tough to make Charr and Asura versions.

If every warrior always picks up healing signet amongst the other choices, then that’s silly. IMO healing and utility skills should be toned down or brought up so that the player will have some kind of tough choice to make. If this does not happen, it means the other skills are useless or the ones always picked are too good or borderline broken. Just sayin.
