Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Are there still players who are so naive to be interested in spvp? :X
It’s called hope, and some of us still cling to it.
We’ve been training our ‘hope muscles’ for a year.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
In my opinion, it’ll become the very first interracial grand city. The Sylvari wouldn’t heal the land if they wouldn’t be sure it would be a land of peace and prosperity. And as all of you have been explaining, a single race cannot inhibit this land – too much drama.
That’s why multiple races will have to join hand, and live side by side.
What’s too much drama about being an ancestral human land? If other races won’t start kittening (and why would they), then there are no problems.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
@Lord, the problem is, who wanted an e-sport game? Not the community. We wanted an MMO half as good as GW1 is. We got nothing, not even a mere shadow. We want gamemdoes and fun and rewards, but that’s against their vision of e-sport.
Who can’t move on? Devs or community?
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Why can’t we have free discussions on the forums? Not even about a significant person’s leave. He is called Xeph. He was on SOTG too, maybe you rember
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
What do you guys think about gamemdoe variety? Currently it’s 0. Their excuse is that they don’t want to split the community, but we already have 3 ways to join conquest, why can’t we already have at least 3 different gamemodes? Or a reward system.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
In the recent interview at PAX, the goals are still the same, chasing the e-sport dream. After 1 year and no real foundations, focus is still on making it watchable, skipping all other steps on the development list.
Stop. We don’t want to watch this game. We want to play this game. We need content to play (aka gamemodes) and we need a reason to play (aka rewards).
There is a flaw in the plan: you lose everyone, who will play and watch it? If new players buy the game because of a stream, what will keep them playing? No offense, just curious.
You don’t want to split the community i get it. We still have 3 ques – a hotjoin, a solo and a team arena. But same gamemode. At this point we could have different gamemodes for each format and idk have fun.

Ah that’s a good point, I was actually thinking about this question for a while..
My pvp rank there is for people who don’t know it’s meaningless.
I don’t think it’s totally meaningless. If you see a rank 50, he can be the worst player in the world farming hotjoin all day, but you, at first will not treat him like that, unless he proves otherwise.
In the case of an r20 guy, you can be sure he is new, he gets bursted pretty fast and often makes very bad decisions or reacts in a wrong way to enemy movement.
The thing is rank means time spent, and unless you spend time, you can’t be good.
Rank = routine (mostly)
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
…To reiterate 1000s of years of wisdom;
Pvp Rank in no way correlates with skill.
You can farm other Useless things no one cares about
Whats your point ? :/
If PvP rank is really meaningless and noone cares about it, why do you have your exact rank in your signature and why do people look fro teams based on rank?
Yes rank can be farmed and that’s bad and should be changed, high rank =/= good player, but this should be solved.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Change the title fast and make it less rageout/offending, because this is spot on and they MUST see this and consider removing hotjoin.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
I label the ones using this title as total newbies.
Because they haven’t got champ titles nor too much experience but they try to show off that they do PvP.
Champion X kinda shows you know that class. Not assured to be pro, but you’re still not new with the class.

RIP IN PEACE PVP GW2 !
You really don’t know what RIP stands for..
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
No content to play = no players. It’s THAT easy.
Only conquest = even conquest fans will get bored.
Add. Heroes’. Ascent. Please. Only 1 que, variety, progression, goal, rewards…
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Question: how do they expect something to be popular (PvP), if they are willing to support it only after it is successful? We had a large community at start, but not significant changes and mostly wrong decisions aren’t keeping or bringing players. As others said, spot potential and be less greedy about your gems for once…
Add gamemodes (Just a Heroes’ Ascent would be enough for years..), and add a guild rating + some reward system.
They always forget that this is an MMO, and MMOs won’t be fine with one gamemode, mostly if that is not deathmatch…

Actually asura technology uses crystals that dragons can consume. They are still sending golems to the battlefields.
Poor excuse. We need magic back, professions feel overdue. I am carving a terminator with my axe, shooting a golem with arrows and throw fireballs on megalasers… srsly.. we need a threat that we can defeat without asura or charr technology..
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
The particle effect has never bothered me in wvw.
How often do you do a 5v5 + AI in a capture point in WvW?
I rarely wvw but I PvP more than you. If you’re fighting 5v5 on a capture point you’re doing it wrong.
The discussion isn’t whether or not legendaries SHOULD be in PvP but rather what their costs might be.
If you want to discuss why they shouldn’t be in PvP go make a new topic or whisper me. The devs already confirmed the release of legendaries in PvP.
Mesmer puts a port to close and runs up. Can happen.
Here you go:

Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Maybe it’s not too late. What do you think? Should they be added? Do we need “more epic skins” as a motivational force, even if it comes with more particle effects, pony bows? Are skins only are enough motivation at all?
If we are at skins, there are many weapon sets you can’t have in PvP or can’t make gold to buy the skin on TP.. they should solve this instead, but maybe that’s just me.

Eles drop like flies in this condimeta. S/d thief is OP as hell, but as a newcomer I don’t think you ould do too fine. But I still recommend it. I don’t recommend guardian to newbies.
Start with trying out every profession and spend at least 1 hour on them, using metabuilds. So you will know how to counter them.
But until you learn the basics, you will be bad with anything, and that’s fine.

Just because he’s a kitten doesn’t make him any less right, a lot of top pvp’ers tend to be “rough around the edges” and if Anet uses that as an excuse to ignore his advice they’re stupider than I thought.
Guy 1 starts walking towards a cliff with a steep drop off unknowingly.
Guy 2 says “Hey f***t**d stop walking that way you’re gonna fall of a cliff moron.”
Guy 1 “Wow that is just rude why would I listen to you?”
Guy 1 falls off the cliff…
Well if Guy 2 doesn’ t learn some proper manners he can expect to have many more Guy 1 on his coscience.
Guy 2 ignores you for so long you can no longer say this somehow else, and then he will finally have a reason to ignore you forever.
Guy 2 respawn’s and still thinks Guy 1 is a rude jerk, because its a game and not life or death.
I miss the point where GW2’s PvP team presses the respawn button, goes back in time with it and makes a different Pvp from the start.
I don’t think you know what’s this discusson’s about.

Totally agree with Malafide. Asura OP. It’s not only leaning forward to asura and charrs, but technology.
I think races and methods should be balanced. If the asura got the lasers, humans and norns should posess equal magical power. Jennah does. Ok. But she isn’t fighting the dragons, but asura lasers do. There should be more spellcasters in GW2. Basically it’s almost only the player character and ghosts from the past that still use magic.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Heh feel free to do whatever with my post, it’s your topic
Btw ‘no monthly fee’ is not an excuse. I still paid for this game and I still waited 6 years for this to come out, and is still an AAA game that was labeled as e-sport. It’s like you buy Starcraft with no expectations because it has no monthly fees.
The veteran players take it the worst, because we know how awesome PvP/reward structure ArenaNet can make if they actually focus on making a fun game.
Maybe I’m wrong, but they became a bit greedy. At least that’s how I feel. PvP community is more rational, we don’t buy stacks of quaggan backpacks with panda hats, therefore don’t make as much income and won’t get the resources.
In the good old days, they didn’t have gemstore, if you bought the game they actually cared about all aspects.
They only had the resources for 1 gamemode, and they came up with the idea to make it an e-sport, because 1 gamemode is enough for that. But it’s not enough for an MMO.
E-sport is the real excuse.

They had their share of a flood constructive feedback over the year, and they basically implemented nothing of those.
They fixed a bug in less then a week, that’s nice and i appreciate that, but we still have a totally flawed matchmaking, a failed random Temple of the Silent Storm generator, and are still stuck with only 1 gamemode. That gamemode that wasn’t even considered PvP in GW1.
Yes if i search very deep I can come up with some compliment how they fixed what they screwed up, but does that change the fact that 80% of their veteran GW1 PvP community left the game, the current top players are leaving and they just build a game for themselves leaving out the community?
It’s sad that all good we can say PvP-wise is how fast they fixed a bug once in a while.
It is a great PvE game, but they need to use more resources for PvP. It would take 3-4 months to fix, and once it’s right, PvP doesn’t need too much love. The pace they are developing now would be totally fine if we would have a decent foundation.

Why are these clearly illiterate people still complaining? ANET IS GOING TO FIX THIS. Hush yo face please.
going to fix this – yes but we don’t want to wait a year
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
If only the PvP blogpost about the second half of 2013 acutally contained anything about the second half of 2013, we wouldn’t be so concerned :P
Btw have fun there Allie!
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
IMO, Sylvari is a race very capable of learning, but on the other hand, they will never be as wise as for example the human, Durmand.
Most of them seem to maintan the mental-state of a 2 years old with the wasted IQ of an asura.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Yeah, I asked him on his stream to justify some (not all, but some) of the things he said in his rant. He responded by throwing out all kinds of insults at me, and completely and utterly evading the question altogether.
He’s incredibly rude, and it’s not wonder ANet doesn’t want him coming on these forums; he’s a stain on our otherwise decent community.
If those points must be explained to you, I agree with him raging out.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Btw this “skill charging” was promised in early development some years ago. We were told that there will be cast time in the game, but you can abort it and finish the spell, but will deal less damage. As far as i remember.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
I can’t claim they will ever be 100% equal all the time, but we would like it to never be the case that you are choosing between playing WvW and getting good rewards. The two should be one in the same.
If you could tell this to the PvP Dev Team, we would love you so much over there in the PvP forum.
Because currently, it’s not about reward-imbalance, but about rewards don’t exist. We are already excluded from every kind of update, and we can’t even get the LS skins from PvP, nor can make gold to buy them. But the biggest problem is we make 0 gold.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Because there was a lot of whining when solo players were playing against pre-mades.So Anet split the two modes.
Do it without rating. It could only improve matchmaking and less people would rage, because they won’t lose rating because of PvE noobs mixed with them against the top 100.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Actually, more. Allie is a community manager, the last message we got from a developer was maybe 1 month ago.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
i never understood what is the point of Death match in a MMO where you don’t have dedicated healers.
One thing is when it’s a FPS game, another is when it’s a MMO.
Deathmatch means killing your opponent, which means PvP. If you are at a capture point fighting for control, that’s deathmatch.
We just want a mode where you just hop in for fun and don’t have to sweat blood for a 10 min long lose with PvE teammates (soloque).
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
A-net on Krytas claim to the throne:
GuildMag (Thalador): That makes sense. Although Queen Jennah has a rightful claim to the throne through the bloodline okitteng Doric. So what about that?
ArenaNet (Ree) : I think that when the prince who left Orr to establish Kryta, when he went to do that, by doing that he – I want to say he completely left the claim to the Orrian throne, and he certainly has a bloodline to it. But I think that the distance between the two thrones is going to be too disparate for her to just step up and say ‘I own that.’
ArenaNet (Ree Soesbee) : Well that’s certainly true. She could say it but couldn’t necessarily back it.
So, it all comes down to military power.
A-Net on who makes the descisions about it:
GuildMag (Thalador): As the City of the Gods, Arah has a deep historical significance to humanity. What has been the reaction to Kryta to the events of the personal story? Because – I won’t speak much of the spoilers – but Orr is in a state that could lead to some recolonization.
ArenaNet (Ree Soesbee) : …….The Ministry’s going to want to seize it, the Queen’s going to want to use it. But I really think that the Pact and the various Orders are the people who have sort of the gateway of control about how those things are going to filter back.
ArenaNet (Scott McGough) : And just to expand the situation, the Pact is the organization that has their boots on the ground in Orr. So they’re going to have first crack at anything they find, and right now Kryta is not formerly part of the Pact but the three Orders are, so when the Pact finds stuff it’ll be funneled through the Orders first before it goes anywhere else.
ArenaNet (Jeff Grubb) : …….. And the question is: what’s the reaction of those nations – not just Kryta but the charr of Ascalon or etc. to the fact that there are these larger groups that are basically pan-species operations that are moving forward.
ArenaNet (Scott McGough) : And we don’t have any strong plans of this at the moment but it’s sort of analogous to a country objecting to the UN coming in and saying ‘we’re the ones who did this so we’re the ones who’ll decide what happens to it.’
Long story short: No racial nation gets it. The Pact descides how it’s used because the Pact is the one reclaiming it. http://www.guildmag.com/magazine/issue9/interview.htm
Long story short, the Pact will decide which race will have it. Humans. As in the interview, 2 of the Krytan forces for sure want Orr back. Instead of being a melting pot for all races, it could be the melting pot of humanity, like DR.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Are we e-sports yet?
This should be in the SOTG question topic.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Glad you like it. The story of the 1st GW is very well witten i think.
The problem with GW2 is the ‘balanced writing’ I think. They must focus equal amount on all 5 races, and make ‘fair setups’, thus destroying 80% of human kingdoms because it was needed for GW2 to be fair for all races… also, they can’t just make an awesome story for 5-6 months on Kryta, they feel like they have to throw random stories, random characters and random threats at us on random locations all around the continent.
But that’s what they should do. Make longer stories. Every race could have it’s time, but would add a depth to the stories.
I’m the fan of Ascalon (and a charr hater), so I would really want to see a longer LS on the Treaty for example, and I really hope they will reclaim Drascir. They could connent the 2 parts of Ascalon with an asura gate. Easy.
Other thing, the Sylvari. They are new so they are pushing them. They lead the pact, they are the main evil in the LS and so on.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Not aimed at anyone poster but I feel it is relevant to the thread:
GuildMag (Ollannach): ……..She feels it’s more like a themepark where there’s minigames, jumping puzzles, etcetra, but not really bigger, lore-enhancing stuff. She’s mostly just concerned that because of the Living Story there’s only going to be small new lore added to the game, which will, in the end, result in a bigger story.
ArenaNet (Jeff Grubb) : We wanna be more epic, right, AND we have this huge, flying city, just, go for it. Whatever you want.
ArenaNet (Jeff Grubb) : This gets back to the whole big world concept. It’s more than just Destiny’s Edge, it’s more than just Kryta, it’s a larger world.
ArenaNet (Scott McGough) : That’s really the main surrogate, the Living World is much bigger than any one group of characters and so, we were expanding and adding to that. We wanted something cool to be happening every month, to make people come and check it out, but we’re also trying to lay the groundwork for a larger story, much more in the line of the epic story we saw in the personal story in the game launch and in the dungeons we saw.
http://www.guildmag.com/magazine/issue9/interview.htm
So really, SAB is just a smaller story happening while the larger stories are happening. It’s not a major event, lorewise. Just one of many inventors trying out one of many inventions. We look at it as bigger than it is because it comes in a patch. But it really isn’t that big of a deal.
Yes, but at the main time where do 8 bit weapons magically fit the game? If I’d came up with the idea of SAB and its weapons usable outside SAB 2 years ago, the community’d tought I’m a 8 years old troll.
But if the writers say it’s going to happen suddenly everyone defends it.

I think it has nothing to dowith player points, blue team wins, like in GW1 AB, I think it was confirmed on the forum.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
I know they don’t want to split the community. How about adding a Heroes’ Ascent type of game? Needs only 1 que, still has:
- Progression
- Goal (hall of heroes)
- Gamemdoe variety
- Veterans wouldn’t feel that abandoned with a nod to an old format
- Bunkers wouldn’t be necessary and unused skills can make sense.
^This would solve many issues. Just allow solojoin. Formats should be maybe deathmatch, conquest, relic run (with the addition that you have to defend an NPC running your relic, these NPCs could be ‘heroes of old time’, so basically ghosts of GW1 players occassionnaly dropping quotes :P ), King of the hill with immortal ghostly hero that deals no damage but claims the midpoint, however, you can knock him down/daze him and remove his boons. Just ideas, but the concept of HA is what this game needs hard.
Are there any plans to add an observer mode for top rated tournaments?
Any plans to reward wins on high-(invisble..)rating? Would solve inactivity
Any plans to remove hotjoin or reduce the glory gained and keep custom arenas fro training grounds that give no glory?

Has anyone asked themselves what any race other than humans would even want with Orr? It’s a pile of ruins with nothing left but cultural significance to one race and one race only.
To start a Tyrian world war so every race can be wiped by the dragons.

70% left after launch, 20% will leave after mistleague.
No improvements.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Eh no one cares about Leaderboards anyway… if someone says they’re on the top 100 just laugh at them and call them a Noob, most of the time you’ll be spot on.
There’s some people who deserve that spot though, I saw a 200w /100 L guy..
I know an r20 guy in the top 50 with 70% winrate who gets carried because once you get into the top 100, you will be grouped up with top 100 against ones that aren’t even on the leaderboards. He is 1v1ing a bunker guard for 5 mins and such things.
It’s just pure luck.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Is Helseth banned from the forums permanently? I would like to see his arguments more often
He will likely leave after mistleague, with many other teams, possibly Team Curse too, so I don’t think you will see anything from him in the foreseeable future.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
What we need back is what made GW1 lore awesome: plot & politics. Adelbern and the royalists, White Mantle propaganda and Salma, the fragile Istan-Kourna-Vabbi-Sunspear relation, the Canthan Ministries (the best is how Winds of Change branched out, I just loved the twist that we were helping a noble cause that zealots will take further and actually we will be the outcasts, make changes to the Canthan gangs and even recruit some members).
The problem with GW2 is that it’s too easy to read. When a new character appears in the story, you know that if that one is evil or not, from the first moment. There aren’t complicated reasons, just pure good vs plain bad guys.
