Fear The Crazy [Huns]
(edited by Gandarel.5091)
Many say ranks mean nothing. I agree rank =/= skill, but rank still used to measure some sort of routine. Hotjoin was still a problem, but with this skyhammer gloryfarming, PvE players can achieve r50 in 2 weeks.
If I’d abuse a forgiving totally flawed PvE feature i would get a permanent ban and the method would be fixed in some days.
But after MONTHS, the problem was “mitigated” by removing the /gameend command. Now people just leave and rejoin the server. Still gives the same amount of glory.
PvP rank is all that PvP players had. Only had. Rank didn’t mean much, but it was the only thing we’ve got in a year. Now the last PvE farmer peasant can get r50 in 2 weeks without knowing anything about PvP.
You think this is fun? Is this how things work here? PvE players are holy and if they want Pvp rank oh they shall have it without work? Then give me my approx. 2000 gold i could have easily made by investing my time into PvE rather than PvP.
Also, people can no longer group up with others in Team Arena by rank because they lost faith.
Solution?
Remove glorygain from hotjoin.
If i want to keep up with the Pve farmers I have to farm Skyhammer in hotjoin 6 hours a day. Is this how you imagined PvP to be?
Edit: oh I forgot to mention. Now that Pvp reward overhaul is coming, guess who will benefit the most, No, not the PvP players. The PvE Skyhammer farmers. Unless they start rewarding tournaments.

Living world will never end. It’s cheap to produce, they can also sell loads of gemstore items with it and ofc it’s a very good marketing choice to show off. “contents every 2 weeks I must try this out” – who cares about what the actual players think
There’s a level I say ‘ok’. But the balance between magic and technology is 20-80% at best.
So steampunk is not fantasy?
Megalasers aren’t steampunk. Terminators aren’t steampunk. Golems aren’t steampunk.
Fantasy != Medieval.
Steampunk is still considered fantasy, even if they use robots and other somewhat “modern” weapons.
There’s a level I say ‘ok’. But the balance between magic and technology is 20-80% at best.
only one thing to say. if u make suggestion, anet’s gonna do the exact opposite. i think it has something to do with “we want to be different” thing.
That’s totally how I’ve been feeling since release. They could do awesome and logical things people are happy with. Or they could be ‘special’.
Seriously, I thought I bought a fantasy game. But after seeing megalasers attached to skyships defended by golems, and repelling a terimantor invasion from an alternate future (after I destroyed a high-tech weapon facility), what about magic? Most of the classes are magic users. Only engineers and sometimes thieves fit this game nothing else (warrior is totally outdated). Others are outcasts.
Why aren’t we replaced with golems? It’s just a matter of time I guess.
TA was one of the few fantasy-only dungeons, but BAM it needs some technology for sure.
Will fantasy ever return?
Your fault for thinking this is a ‘fantasy’ game that is full of your typical MMO themes. Furthermore, what makes you decide what’s in a fantasy game?
Somehow where there’s more tehcnology (terminators and megalasers mostly), and i still fight with a sword, I feel out of place.
Or charrs should grow balls and fight like men.
No, men should grow some thicker skin and fight like Charr.
I hope they never run into a wall then, the Charr have problems with those unless they beg some overpower to do it for them.
Y, charrs are such backstabbers boasters. Without the flame legion and their ‘gods’, they couldn’t have defeated the humans.
Now they say “charrs killed their gods (fake) and don’t need any to achieve goals” and they outcasted the flame legion. Thankful bunch of people.
If the Mad King would carve her to be his new necklace, that would be fine. Otherwise, no.
No more technology, mostly not on the best event in the GW universe…
If Scarlet will be involved in my fav event since the first year of GW1, I… no….

We have a common interest this time.
Also I hate the direction of the LS for the past.. well since it started. technology technology and technology. Do they even know there is magic in the lore?
Charr cares about healthy environment (no one wants to live in wasteland
I lol’d so hard. Searing, anyone?
- Here live the humans, who stole this land from us, killed our ancestors and slowly but constantly continue their expansion. We can engage and win war with em, but land will be seriously damaged by our combat magic. Natural recovering process will take alot of time.
- Oh no, we cannot damage the lands, lets wait until humans will push further and exterminate us completely! Environment must be saved at all costs!
Or charrs should grow balls and fight like men.
If dagger mainhand attacks have an HP cost associated with them, they need built-in life drain to compensate for it, otherwise they’re FORCED into dealing damage to themselves for no reason unless specc’d into vampiric traits, which is extremely limiting. IF you were to give dagger attacks HP cost, I’d make it a trait that ALSO makes all mainhand dagger attacks AoE. This, to me, would offset the HP cost, even if you didn’t go vampiric.
That having been said, I still don’t like the idea of HP cost on dagger attacks. I just think that’s how it should be done IF they were to be done that way. Being really slow and having really limited escape mechanisms in melee is enough of a hindrance, imo.
Not on autoattack.. but on the immobilize for example and the wells.
You can’t compare PVP in an MMORPG to a solely-PVP game like Smite or League.
Period.
Someone never played GW1 I guess.
So you are telling me it’s hard to escape from a spirit ranger. It’s normally not. Still OP.
I don’t know how hard the rework of the blood traitline and mostly vampiric mechanics will affect the necromancer, but this would be interesting even as any kind of necromancer. To actually pay a price for a greater goal and don’t just spam spam spam.

It is known that there are plans to buff this traitline for necromancers. Blood magic with dagger mainhand is just another 111 spamming build. After a buff it will could be the next spirit ranger probably with some minions.
What if some dagger skill along with some utility skills would cost HP to cast? Blood traitline gives you some lifesteal throught attacking – this would bring some cost/risk thing, with actually putting your own HP to the burst/setup. (inspired by GW1)
Thoughts?
Too bad devs never play on EU.
You must be new here.
A land is considered claimed once the conquerror side establishes a government system on the new land, distributing it between his nation and points out leaders.
Since charrs just rushed in and got killed, nothing like this ever happened. Their army faced absolute destruction by an Orrian scroll.
According to this, Orr won the war at a high cost and charrs faced total destruction. Human land.
Orr did not won the war. Maximum that we can say is that Orr did repel first invasion, but lost all land, citizens, government and army in process.
So at first we have charr “Empire” and charr army vs Orrian Kingdom and orrian army.
After all magic events we have charr “Empire” and charr army (with less numbers) vs… nothing, Orrian kingdom and army completely gone.
Ergo = charr won the war, they are got nothing to grab after victory (no new land, no trophies) but their enemy completely destroyed.
Orr did not forfeit the war and achieved ultimate victory over the charr army – even tho they sacrificed too much.
Wouldn’t call this a bright victory, but still doesn’t give any claim to charrs. And we know there are living Orrians who are hiding their heritage.
No charrs survived the assault and they never attempted to take the land again. Kryta repelled the charrs too and lost their royal house for some years, still doesn’t give any claims to the charr.

The only reason I don’t want the Jade Sea to completely melt is how much i hate underwater combat :P
I hope that if cantha ever return, it will not be another modern garbage with megalasers tanks and terminators (like what’s the Living Story is now).
This is a fantasy game (as far as i know), yet we have so few of old traditions, ancient palces. Only ruins we have to dig for museums. Or to make place for a consortium holiday result. We need the old and beautiful traditional Canthan architercture.
Drakkon, if they weren’t from tyria, why does that mean they have no claim? Orr was an unclaimed land when they arrived (or Forgotten land that they offered for humans, thus giving the rights to them).
Why would any race that’s from tyria but never ever stepped to Orr could claim it more than humans who actually built it and were brought there by gods?
Neither were from Orr, not charrs, not asuras, not humans. But, there was an altar to Glint, probably built by the forgotten, allies to human gods. They gave the land to the humans.
Paperwork done, human land.
Abaddon wasn’t much more than that.
He was a big evil floating ball of energy that was playing puppet master with the events of the world. Once he got the ball rolling with the Jade Wind, the Searing, and the Cataclysm, he had Varesh start the rituals to start the Nightfall. Which is the event that leads to his complete reformation, though he only was able to get to a big evil floating head and hands stage, and destroy Tyria by basically reforming it into Realm of Torment 2.0.
I would let all my arguments against him slide if we actually knew he existed before Nightfall. Instead, we got a surprise “big bad behind everything”, and his previously nonexistence was explained away with, “Well… he was erased from history…”. Then he got quickly patched into Prophecies and Factions lore with secondary quests, saying he was secretly behind most of the major bad events all throughout history.
Dare I bring up the subject, but at least Scarlet was hinted at being behind most of the events in the LS, before they revealed her. Abaddon was thrown at us from out of the blue.
Also, Abaddon never said anything throughout the whole game. So he would be a dark fallen god out to destroy the world. “….”
Abaddon was once a worshipped and respected god. He was the one who brought knowledge, magic. Then, other gods sealed his gifts. He got mad at them, eventually leading a rebellion with his own chosen army, the Margonites. They were defeated, Abaddon was banished to his own realm and his name got erased, because probably the gods didn’t want to see cults forming to free Abaddon for his gift of even greater power. For me, it totally makes sense.
Then, he slowly started to plan his return. His revenge. He took a large part of forming humanity, and his “creatures” forgot him and still worshipped the ones imprisoning him. He thought if he can’t have them, noone will, deciding to destroy Tyria and humanity.
He started to corrupt humanity from within, destroying half Cantha, 2 tyrian kingdoms, sinking the sacred kingdom of Orr too, and finally, unleashing the Nightfall, turning the whole world into his domain, where everyone worships him and the other gods will be erased. Varesh, leader of his cult was a great help for him. That’s why the gods wanted to erase him from history, to prevent cults like this forming.
If this is a “MUHAHAHAHAHA I’m so evil because I’m evil let’s destroy everything” for you, then idk what to say.
True, he didn’t say a single world, still had a much better story/plot than Scarlet, who is evil because she is evil and talks all the time.
Abaddon didn’t say a single word, still had a story, personality and a goal, not like Scarlet who is just evil and wants to destroy.
Abaddon wasn’t thrown at us, we had hints from the beginning of Nightfall.

I used to hate Slyhammer. But since I run a 6 sec chainfear build at the cannon room with converting stability to fear, I absolutely love this map. This is e-sport.
Clock Tower v2.0. Let the tears flow!
Clock Tower Tribulation Mode
Rivers, rivers of tears.
Don’t even disgrace a content like Halloween with mentioning it next to SAB.
Mad King Thorn and the whole Halloween event was my fav part of GW1 and in GW2 too So I just hope they don’t replace this with some asura story just like they did with every single aspect of the game..
It’s called having multiple layers to a story. Everyone can see what is on the surface while those who want to can look for more.
1st layer- story not found
2nd layer – story explained on a website
3rd layer – if you look really really really close, use different resources for mere theorycrafting, you can guess some lore (speculations).
Probably governments pay the price. This way, merchants and visitors can come and go easier, meaning more traffic which is good for their economy.
You have content updates every 2 weeks, we haven’t had any content since release.
I agree that PvP content is sparse, but you have had a number of content and content updates since release, even if that number is small.
Mostly in the form of PvP maps and updates to how tournaments or custom arenas work.
Playing the PvP version of CoF p1 in a different environment isn’t really what we need. We don’t need maps and we don’t need conquest.
The only change to tournament was that now it’s 1 round not 3. And custom arenas are.. still hotjoin.. still a cancer for PvP.
Everyone could use magic according to an interview. Btw I think this is discussed every single week and if you search the very 1st page you can find at least 1 topic about it.
Anyone who hits “Join” enters your party without you being able to select who you pick? Lol. That’s just.. lol.
The thing I think this “Elder Dragons consume magic for the greater good” thing fails at the point where they are consuming magical artifacts, not the magic in the world.
Basically, by eating tons of relics, they get stronger, but that doesn’t affect any magic users out there, who are tapping magic.
Also, can you actually imagine a team trying to res a downed teammate in 20v20? They would all go down within 2 seconds because of the extreme aoe.
8v8 could work.. but only if the team has to split up.
What do you guys think? A hotjoin hero is someone who just goes around 1v1 people and says screw the team, look at my high glory numbers.
No. A hotjoin hero is a highranked guy who plays like a braindead because all he did was running from one circle to enother, capping together with 6 others and spamming some random aoes.
Yeah they’ve been confirmed several times, but whenever I talked to gandarel he acts like it’s up in the air and debatable in spite of what the devs have told us.
Which part of the ‘I want an option to turn off the projectile effects not remove legendaries’ you don’t seem to understand?
Just give me an option to turn off legendary projectile effects. If pony bows take over another aspect of GW2 I srsly leave.
I love when PvE guys complain about how is PvE in beta.
Ever tried to play PvP only? To actually play the very same gamemode for a year? It’s like playing CoF P1 for a year with no rewards, earning 2 copper a day. They only thing we have is a currency called ‘glory’ – which is at least as useless as karma.
You have content updates every 2 weeks, we haven’t had any content since release.
PvE is spoiled as hell and you still complain, complain about things like ‘camera position’ or “oh if I get a legendary I want the game to announce it in guildchat”.
Check out the Forsaken Hall, Dredgehaunt Cliffs.
I love that place so much. I really want to explore the dwarven front.
Actually, Primordus could be pretty much what we are looking for if we want dark theme.
Imagine: you are in a dark tunnel system, with fading screams and clash of dwarven warhammers penetrating destroyer shells. Suddenly, a dragon champion appears from a tunnel, tearing down the tents and small fortified positions, unleashing hell upon the stone dwarves.
I’m waiting to see any papers with the sign of an Orrian king saying that ‘no descendants of Doric shall ever take over if our kingdom gets wiped by something like a cataclysm’. :P
Then why is Jennah the regent of Ascalon?
Jennah is currently the Queen of Kryta and the Regent of Ascalon, which means she is just a ‘gapfiller’, same could be done with Orr – she becomes the regent, (being the descendant of Doric), until an Orrian descendant shows up.
But Jennah would be an arbitrary gap filler. With no greater right than Joe Smoe the farmer, or “Random Krytan noble”. Why her? Her ancestors specifically forfeited all claims to the throne so she has no more right then anyone else. As far as ruling Orr, she is equal with every one else who was born a human being.
Why her? Because her grand grand grand (and so on) father was king Doric – ruler of Orr, Ascalon and Kryta.
If you die with no kids, who will get your car, the mailman or a distant relative?
It would be awesome
I think a living story could be made out of Ascalon and the Legions forging peace by fighting a common enemy, the Flame Legion. They would reclaim Drascir and the areas around it, connecting the northern region to Ebonhawke with an asura-gate, establishing a ‘modern tyrian kingdom’ where the 2 halves don’t need to be connected by land.
Or drascir would still have some ghosts living amongst the… living >_>
The murdered Captain in LA, Theo Ashford, whose place was taken by Kiel.
Trillia Midwell.
Lol, you are still looking for lore in the “living story”? Naive you
Is jumping off skyhammer esport?
Absolutely. I’d even start to consider PvE an e-sport given how competitive mobs are.

Thanks for reading and considering my words,

Your canned response is always “you don’t understand what we do”, and yet you never tell us what you do.
The communication here is vital, and in your case it’s dead.
Look at a company like Carbine, your sister company making Wildstar. The game isn’t out yet, but the community there is genuinely excited because of the overflow of information. They talk about features, why they are doing them, and then leave the door open saying “we’re always listening”. They’ve also proven that already by taking a few major features out or tweaking them just based on feedback.
Also, look at Everquest Next: the game is having a round table that is requesting all major decisions to go through the community to see what we want. What a novel concept!
Do you know why these companies are doing this? They see other “AAA Games that have recently released, and they don’t seem to be open with their community. We don’t want that to happen here”. Hmmmm…which company do you think they are talking about? I think they mean 2. One of them was EA/Bioware, I’m pretty sure the other one is you.
Also, you talk about resources as some finite thing that is very limited, and yet you openly boast about “Fastest selling MMO ever selling over 3 million copies.” So, in this case, resources are money investments because the people required to make features cost money. You basically say “we don’t have it” and then you turn around and say “look at all of our money! I’m Rick James B!!!”.
Lastly, your NASA comment: The difference between what NASA is doing and what ANET is doing is that NASA has no competition. They are trying to do something that we a- don’t understand and b- have no other company to compare progress to. With you, that is not the case. Although I have no idea about how specifically Anet has coded their game or how they have teams dedicated to what, I can say that I at least have a basic understanding of programming and large projects, and I have someone to compare you to since there are other MMOs and video games that have released and are releasing. There are games that came out and have nowhere NEAR that 3 million box copy sold that you are talking about and yet they have the core features that took you 1 year to put in, they had them at launch or soon after. Why can they, but you can’t? I can compare, I have eyes, and your company isn’t some non-quantifiable mystery to me.
I end with this: I love this game, and I hate it at the same time. The potential and the core mechanics are the best in any game I’ve ever played, MMO or not. So, with that, ALONG with the fact that it sold well (So i know the money is there to sustain it) and yet the support is minuscule and you guys pat yourself on the back for delivering what can only be classified as the slowest feature release post-launch in any PvP game ever. NOW, that can’t be said about PvE: PvE is releasing more content than any other MMO I have ever seen, and it’s not even sub based.
So, we the people, have eyes to see; we see that PvE is releasing a MASS amount of difficult content every OTHER WEEK, and yet PvP releases core, basic features every 6 months. hmmmmm….what conclusion should we, the player, draw from that Jon? I’ll tell you: Your company does not care about PvP because it’s too wrapped up in PvE.
I, like many others, just wanted to thank everyone that they are developing a totally awesome PvP that is the best i ever had.
It’s a good game because you are kewl
Guys discuss. It’s all we are allowed to discuss.
1) Spirit of Nature, Storm Spirit, Frost Spirit, Stone Spirit, Sun Spirit, Warrior, S/D Thief, Necro
2) -
3) Everything that isn’t totally OP
Seems like PAX was a turning point for many people. I know some days ago you were still defending them in streamchat you sneaky mesmer!
Btw yeah, great feedback.
I want OstrichEggs and Helseth.
Get OstrichEggs in that show, that is mandatory.
Ostrich is a grateful fanboy who thinks devs do so exceptionally well I can’t tell, that’s what I see on forums.
