I don’t have that much achievment points, but fairly close. Around 3.2k. I have not gone out of may way to do these things except for the monthlies, which I only discovered in November.

I do the daily every day, but it almost comes on its own while playing. The only part that needs a bit doing is finding the 15 different types of things to kill.

I just play and explore the world. Sometimes I look at the slayer lists and may kill a few more creatures of a given type if the achievement is not full yet and they are right there. I’ve not gone specifically to hunt any on purpose yet. I suspect I will have to go do that with giants. Only I have no clue where to find those.

On topic, the WvWvW part of maps is a pain, but it can be done. I did have to switch servers to get some parts done though.

I don’t play PvP, but I should think it is good thing not to have the legendaries there. Some of them have view plocking effects, which would be even more annoying in a close combat situation.

Well…I’m a lady and I play currently Necromancer, Guardian, Ranger, Elementalist, Mesmer and Engineer. Planning eventually to expand to Thief and Warrior too. So, all classes get this lady.

On a more serious note, it doesn’t matter if there are lots of people playing any particular class. There will still be variations due to weapon and trait choices.

Karka shells do not drop often for me. It is good if I get two in an hour. I can only say that your experience coincides with mine. And I have been there with a character in full magic find gear too, same results.

If anyone could share their tips on successful shell hunting, I would also appreciate it.

What I do early on with every new character is use the drops to learn all the weapon skills. Including underwater. Then later on, I am free to paick any weapon I want and not have to start learning them at a high level.
Guardian directly benefits from armor smith and weapon smith as well as cooking. The last is beneficial to any character, as long as one remembers to eat.

You can purchase more bankslots. At least, I presume you don’t have all 8 in use yet.

Also, do you have the biggest bags you can afford? Frankly, I don’t think the 20 slot bag is worth the cost and most my characters don’t even have the 18 slot ones. A 15 slot bag needs a rune that costs 50 silver to make and they are being sold at the Trading Post for 68 silver a piece (at the time I write this).
You can also buy more bag slots if 80-100 storage slots to carry along is not enough. But bag slots are for that one character’s use only, while bank slots can be used by all of your characters.

You should add Plinx event chain to that. It is near by, starts just beyond the Arena and ends at Shadowfain. It does not run all the time anymore. The cooling perios is around 40-45 minutes, I think. But it is 5 events in a row with sometimes the broodmother or arena added to the mix.

Nice to see people who have fun with the game. I am still having fun and discovering new things after many months and over a thousand played hours. I started a new character on New Year’s Eve and had a real blast with the start of his personal storyline (Norn who drank too much).

I also played another character of mine, Asura Mesmer, in her Whispers storyline and now feel much more sympathy towards the Hylek. This is something that has actually happened with every character studieng a race. They become live individuals instead of a mass of mobs to eliminate. I have a feeling the OP will enjoy that part too.

Have fun with it! Do what you feel is fun and try the other things a little as well. Levels come on their own just by playing, but you are never too high level to go do something that you didn’t have time for at the beginning or to go back to places you enjoyed earlier.

They should be waering their Order armor, unless I misremember. Order headquarters (all three) have those for sale. The price is not the cheapest though.

If you carry him in an invisible bag, be sure not to delete the character holding it.

SPvP is played in teams of five (someone, correct me if I am wrong), small teams. InWvWvW volunteers from whole servers clash together.

All races are equally good for any profession. Pick the one that sounds the most fun or looks the best to you.

I have a mesmer and an Elementalist arong lvl 45 now. In the early stages Mesmer is easier to keep alive in PvE in my experience, but both are fun to play. Dying isn’t really that big a deal in PvE, so don’t let that decide for you.

Both Mesmer and Elementalist are late blooming classes. They really only come to their own after level 30. That does not mean they aren’t viable, it is just that the best skills open up late.

Whatever you choose, have fun with it and stick to it past the very first few levels. It is worth it giving them a real chance.

I wish I could guve you the actual advice you seek, but I have never played PvP and most likely never will. However, I have read what others say and think that you might consider mesmer.

At this time it is not mandatory. There are only two pieces of equipment available. Ring and backpack-quiver-book -thingy. In the future it should not be mandatory either, for the Ascended gear will be available in other ways. Including crafting.

It is only mandatory to have that gear if you want to run Fractals past level 10. The new ‘Agony’ condition needs to be countered by that gear then.

Of course there are some people who do not wish to play with those not into the Ascended grindmill. They are a minority though. Vocal maybe, but still minority.

I have levelled both classes, so I have some hands on familiarity with them.

Both are fun, Guardian is a bit more complicated.

Rangers can melee. Give them a sword and a warhorn for example. Their sword fighting is rather…flashy. My Ranger currently has Longbow/Axe and Torch equipped. I find that most suited for my particular character.

You know, you can level them both. If you play them, one will probably just start demanding more of your time than the other. Or you’ll end up with two going side by side. Both these things happened to me. The necromancer that was supposed to be just my diversion for the times I played alone took over and was the first to get to 80 and to the end of storyline. The Guardian and the Ranger vied neck to neck and I cannot even remember which of them hit 80 first.

Whatever you do, just have fun! And there is no hurry to get to 80. There’s very little new there to do, which upsets some people. There is, however, still everything to do there was before and no-one who levels a character quickly has done it all by the time they reach lvl 80.

Or you could make friends with a crafter. Friends often make things from your materials for nothing more than thanks and seeing you wear them. It does not diminish the crafter’s pleasure even if you change the look of the item with transformation stones as long as they know it. Link to the transformed gear and say thanks.

I once made something for someone for no compensation and used some of my own materials when his weren’t enough only to learn he immediately sold it at the TP for over 2 g. It did not feel good.
In contrast, another case we hunted the Karka Island big ori vein together to get enough materials for another guy’s axe. That was fun and rewarding.

Sylvari, as you say, are new to the world and therefore interested in finding out about everything.
Asura need to know everything, because they just need to know it all.
Norn explore places in search of something that will make them legendary.
Charr might want to learn all about the land and its inhabitants in case there will be war later on.
Humans… Well, humans are naturally curious. Some of them just want to explore things. Some of them want to explore things to profit from them.

Then come the individuals. An individual can have motives that differ from their culture. Break free and explore the world in the eyes of the individual that appeals to you personally. Or even better, individuals. You are not restricted to just one person, gender or species.

We did it after the dungeon. It took some time to find the last tiny tree though.

Be the one to start the run, however, if you aren’t sure the others will stick around. If the instance owner leaves, you get kicked out too with or without your achievement.

They can be ‘rediscovered’.

I only do it when I have to in order to accomplish something else like monthly achievement or map completion.

Why? Because it is confusing and chaotic and people are unfriendly. I don’t mean the enemy, never heard a bad word from any of them. (Duh!)

When I do go, I run with the zerg and so far I have managed to kill more than die. I’d rather not bring my server down with my presense there, so I try to survive.

Well, I will play on Gandara again in 6 days. I had to move to a green world to get the very last bits of map completions. Because my daughter plays on Gandara, I will be there for her when she wants to play with me. Otherwise I’d stay on Piken Square. Gandara is a fine server and there are quite a few people around. I’ll just miss all my old friends from PS.

It isn’t really about having high or medium population, more important is where those people are in relation to what interests you. Any and every server has good people and more are welcome!

I’d run Tixx with you, but I am in Europe and not able to change servers for another 6 days anyway as I just moved to another to complete the WvWvW maps. I believe one can only run dungeons with people who are in the servers of the same region.

Tixx is not as wanted as it was at start, but there are people doing it. I got the groups for my ‘not max level’ characters without trouble. I did not just type LFG Tixx. I wrote something like “Let’s go have some fun in Tixx! Any class, any level welcome!” or in Rata Sum I actually asked for people to come help make a little Asura’s dream come true. The lowest lvl character I had the pleasure working with was 12 and he did just as well as the rest of us. Have confidence in yourself and speak up in mapchat. It is worth it!

I get lost in the Black Citadel all the time.

I have an alternate way for you to get that WP, if you don’t mind a little detour. If you go to Lion’s Arch and enter the gate there to Black Citadel, you end up at Aquilo WP.

Maybe you wanted to get there to go to LA in the first place and my option sounds ridiculous, but there is the other way to get to LA: The Heart of Mists. The crosssed swords at the top left corner of the screen work from anywhere in the world. For those who have not been there before, there is a brief tutorial to do. Well worth the time for most people do use this shortcut often.

Mapping Black Citadel is a chore.

Just be active and you usually get the gold. Active in this case means hit the target(s). There is one abominable creature in Cursed Shore that selects one person and laches onto that unfortunate for the whole time. When that was me, I had to run and dodge for several minutes and thus didn’t get many hits. Ended up getting silver for the sweatiest job of them all. It doesn’t matter much though, the difference between the medals at lvl 80 is 50 copper, which is basicly nothing.

There are rare cases where people have gotten upset that someone turned out to help them with a kill. “I wanted to kill this one myself, so that I can brag about it.” Unless the person is actively saying this, there is no way to know what is going on in anyone’s head. Therefore I don’t worry about it and help if I happen to be there. Of course if someone states their wish to be left alone with the enemy, I will respect that. Usually that ends with me resurrecting them after they die.
If someone starts to yell about unwanted help and taking their ‘glory’, they are really out of line. All the mobs belong to all of us equally. And they respawn fairly quickly anyway.

If you really love the idea of Elementalist, go for it. I have no clue how to play mine, yet somehow she’s lvl 45 and dies very seldom. Experiment and learn as you go.

If you do find Elementalist too challenging to start with, leave the character to sit and make another of another profession. Remember that the main goal is to have fun!

As for servers other than already mentioned, I’ve had a lot of fun on Gandara, Piken Square and Ruins of Surmia. At this time you can change servers every 7 days for free, so it is not the end of the world if you are not happy with your first server.

Glint’s baby or babies will appear in the game sometime. One of the devs said that much in a post I read a long time ago. That was the extent on that though.

I also play with my daughter though she plays rather seldom these days. I had to move servers to play with her even sometimes. She had to go to another server so she can play with a friend of hers even more rarely. Her friend does not have a gaming computer and can only play when she visits her uncle.

Tarnished Coast had openings two days ago. It is possible to get there. Had I been free to move, I would have seized the opportunity.

Gavbeorn’s WP in Cursed Shore.

I am having a hard time with this. I’ve spent more than half my playing time on my most played character after she turned 80. I am not even near done. Right now I am working on World Completion which cdould be giving me a headache, but I choose to see it as a challenge instead.

You don’t have to start grinding dungeons, but you might run all you haven’t so far once. Arah hasn’t been (officially) even available to you until now. Complete the story, no point stopping so near the end.

Try everything you haven’t tried so far and do those things you found fun before. You have lost nothing just because the one number has stopped changing.

Go to a beginning area and see if you can help new people. There are probably quite a few after Christmas. Might even make new friends. Of course you can also make a new character to play.

That’s the question I am hoping to find an answer to as well. I am missing some areas in places. If you look at your Explorer achievments, which you probably already did, it should give you a clue to what region to go to, but not what area the missing bit is does not show there.

You may have somewhere an undiscovered piece of land. One that has no PoIs, WPs or SPs.

I am getting close to map completion, but earlier I suddenly got Maguuma Explorer 10/10 when one of my characters fell in the sea. My cheif explorer had that map 100% completed at that time.

I’ve played over 1000 hours too and I still have things to look for. Like map completion later tonight when I can change servers. Grass is greener on the green corner of Eternal Battlegrounds.

I quite prefer playing GW2 to watching TV several hours every night, sadly one is considered the norm and the other odd.

The most I’ve ever had is right now. I’m not going to count the silvers of every character, but I have one char a six and two a bit over one gold each. Lets put it this way: I’ve never yet exceeded 9 gold.

I understand that others apparently make that kind of cash in a couple of hours. For me that is the result of three weeks saving and exploring.

At the current time no. There are only the free transfers now and they are limited to one every seven days because of WvW matches.

When they implement the guesting system and paid transfers one can probably transfer as often as one wants. But the cost will depend on how popular the server you want to transfer to is. Someone else will have the numbers for them, but the lowest I think was 500 gems going to a server with little players.

It matters not whether they are called professions or classes. People use both terms anyway.

OP, try out the ones that sound interesting. Make a character and play. If you don’t like how it plays, you can either store that char and make another or delete it and make another to replace. You do have 5 character slots to experiment with.

Why do I tell you to try them yourself? Because there is no way I can tell what would feel fun for you. I never thought I’d care to play a Necromancer or a human for that matter. Yet my human necro is the one I have spent most of my time with (568h/1136h) so far. I enjoy all my characters and intend to eventually get the missing (Warrior, Thief and Engineer) in my team as well.

If you like loger range combat then maybe you should give Ranger, Mesmer, Elemntalist and Necromancer a try. Guardian has some mid range and I believe engineers have things in their sleeve as well. Warriors can shoot bows, so they aren’t entirely hand-to-hand combat either. I know too little about thieves to really talk about them.

Please, abandon the capitals on every word. It makes text hard to read.

Unfortunately, I don’t think capturing Stonemist Castle is quite that easy. At least not where I am currently situated. The people holding it are way out of the league of the other two servers.

I shall have to seek server transfer, I presume. But how can I find oput what server is green? When does this round end and a new one begin? I don’t want to transfer to the above´mentioned server, because my German is rusty to the extreme and talkling to no-one for 7 days is too much of a sacrifice for me.

Can one sneak inside the the fortified camps/fortresses/castle held by a server of different colour? Or are they only accessible if you get the whole of your server backing you up and defeat the current masters of those places?

I am finding this part of the map completion rather frustrating.

About Trophies one more thing: Some of them say ‘salvagable’. You can buy a salvage kit from the merchats. Salvaging an item gives you raw material(s), which you can either store (deposit all collectables from your inventory menu) or sell for coin at the Trading Post (left click on the item in your inventory and pick ‘sell at the trading post’).

Is the axe, sickle or pick your level? Are you in combat? Those two things will prevent equipping them.

Consumable means that if you click it twice it does something and disappears. Food nourishes you, some other thing do other stuff. Don’t be afraid to experiment.

Soulbound means onlt that particular character can use the item, no-one else. Account bound means that all your characters can use it, no-one else.

Sadly the minis do not make any noise. For me the one that I do not want at all is the Princess. It is great that people like the different toys.

This Hair Styling Contract, is it Account or Soulbound?

They are really tough. I can manage those up to level 60, but there is no way I would dare to open lvl 80 package alone.

There are places where you can leave them for the NPCs. The Champion Plains Wurm and its hatchlings do dispose of the toys at Blazeridge, but there are places where the released mayhem will just remain in ambush. So, please, if you are ‘just looting’ pick the places where you do not endanger the next passer by.
