This thread is still open but they close threads that bring attention to actually game flaws lol
While I agree that RNG boxes are not the most interesting way to deliver content it is apparently effective. I have posts arguing against BLChests but the gemstore as a whole is a service that we, as players playing a free to play game, as in every piece of content that is released you can take part in for free, is really the least offensive way for ANET to make money. It could be a lot worse. They could limit daily WP access based on gem purchases. They could limit daily world boss kills with gem purchases. They could have given two character slots, or gated races behind gems. Things that free to plays are infamous for.
Compared to what could be, ANET is very generous in terms of what they offer. They even let you access their gem store through currency that you can get IN GAME. Entitlement is the name of the game in these forums, though.
On that note, Black Lion Chests may owe us a reconstruction only due to the fact that they allowed key farming to persist. People became comfortable with BLC content having a relatively reliable way to access and it undoubtedly had an effect on the economy. Now that access is (allegedly) being altered, there is rising anxiety that skins won’t be as easy to get.
Is it unfortunate that it won’t be as reliable? Yes. Unfair? No.
And again – you can get anything you want from the gem store if you play the game and trade your gold for it.
If all these items were obtainable in the game itself, the game would be so much more rewarding, and there would be a lot more to do.
If all these items were obtainable in the game there would be no game because they would go bankrupt.
Play the game, get gold, gold > gems, buy what you want.
Are we ever given a reason why there are some events where we aid Skritt and help them, but most others, we are killing them and smashing their stuff?
10c says you were trying to stack lv20 scroll with 5sp scroll
This post is valuable and benefits the community greatly.
Agreed on this.
Knowing how to use combinations properly separates very good players from the merely well-equipped, and while people eventually learn it, the earlier they do, the more engaging their gameplay would be.
I think you made my point much better than I made my own
I’ve seen many threads complaining about the combat system being ‘too shallow and spammy,’ and a lot of that has to do with the fact that people are using their skills at the wrong times, or using skills that would not provide the most benefit to their group. The combat would be a lot more attractive to these players if they understood the concepts behind the system, what makes it important, and what you can do as an individual to make the group stronger.
Yakslapper was, like what; if you kill a yak every 5 minutes, non-stop, it would still take you 4 years?
Pretty sure it was longer but I might be confusing it with capping Stonemist.
525,600 minutes in a year assuming 8 hours sleep per day it’s 350,400 minutes available. and killing a yak every single 5 minutes would take just under a year and a half
-and I’ve got that going for me, which is nice.
I think they are going to begin rolling out the anticipated Mystic Forge changes.
In light of all the new training mechanics being worked into lower levels, I think it would be a very good idea to implement guides and explanations for fields and finishers.
This is a very important aspect of group content that I have seen largely ignored (unless in organized play) just due to the fact that people unknowingly spam their skills, regardless of field/finisher. Teaching at around level 20 would give people ample time to practice, learn the combos, and finally implement in group settings.
A simple UI chart that shows the results of the various fields and finishers interactions would be helpful as well.
In regards to siege, I think it’s good and interesting when the siege is immersed in the mechanics, like Tequatl’s turrets. If siege can be broken, repaired, built, perhaps mobilized, it doesn’t feel like “oh and by the way siege”.
I think there are definitely ways to make it interesting during fights like these, and moreover, these giant bosses give the feeling that there should be siege. Just allow more interaction than shooting a bomb every 3 seconds.
Side note: my friend and I were talking about a bundle item that should be used for SB akin to a Proton Pack/ gun(Ghostbusters).
One interesting suggestion that has shown up here in the past is an “account bag” that takes ups a bag slot, and whatever is in the bag is in the bag for all characters on your account that have an account bag equipped. They could sell the bag in the gem store, the first purchase being a pair, and you can purchase additional bags if you want the items stocked across more than two characters. Kind of like a miniature, portable bank tab (with less slots).
They are going to change how/when weapon skills are unlocked – calling it
Training guides exist at your profession trainer. They allow you to continue putting attribute points into master and grandmaster trait lines. Farming is the act of repetitious completion of dungeons, events, or boss/mob kills. Berserker armor is a type of stat archetype that contains the three damage stats, and no defensive stats. For skilled players, it is the preferred armor type to use in dungeons, as it allows for the fastest kill time and therefor completion times. Feel free to message me in game with any other questions.

NA player here. Willing to teach/tour guide if you can’t get a hold of these fantastic people.
I began preparing for PvP hot joins by roaming in WvW. It’s a good place to learn at your own leisure. Fights can escalate quickly, and there is potential for a volatile environment.
The downside is that you can go for long stretches without running into an enemy player. Or you could run into a group of players that will completely roll over you. I would give roaming borderlands a shot and see how that does you.
Also, if you have friends on an opposing WvW server, you can organize duels in secluded locations. Hope this helps!
I’m not talking about new weapons as in new types of weapons being added, I’m talking existing weapons being opened for professions that currently cannot use them. For example, staff Ranger, great sword necro, or axe thief

Is there anything in the works to distribute broader weapon use among the professions? We’ve been using the same combat skills for two years and there is no sign of it ever changing. I recall a blog in the past where a developer offhandedly mentioned the vision of all classes being able to use all weapons. I’m not taking that at face value, but I think we are overdue for some variety. Honestly I imagine it never happening due to the balance nightmare it presents, but the professions are getting stale.

Just wondering if anyone called them out on it…
They can’t talk about their future plans for accepting the ice bucket challenge or not, but they definitely haven’t ruled it out.
I’d like ANet to choose three and have the players vote on the topic from those three.
Storm weapons ( inspired by GW1 storm bow)
Considered this could be a reality since chaos weapons came into the chests.
Calling it now, puddle of water skinned legendary combining frostfang and rodgort
I would guess bringing some of the changes they made to early game Chinese version to NA/EU servers. Can’t remember off the top of my head but there were some QoL changes made for Chinese release.
Thanks Vol, looks good.
I brought it up Tachenon, because the blog conflicted with another recent interview. The Twitter post cleared it up though.
Thanks again
A few days ago a Reddit post from an interview with Devon Carver revealed that each separate color tag will cost an additional fee, however, with today’s news on the official site, the language suggests that all colors will be available “once you become a commander”:
We’re also happy to announce that once you are a commander, you will have access to a variety of colors. Choose from red, yellow, purple, or classic blue to customize your commander icon!
Are we to take this “once you are a commander” as meaning when you buy it once, you have access to all?
Thanks!
There is no confirmation that SAB is definitely not returning, which I would suspect be the only case in which support is going to even open your email.
They have made it clear on several occasions that PvE is not really considered in balances, not sure what you were expecting.
From the balance patch preview notes:
Finally, we’ll be addressing the Tornado and Fiery Greatsword elite skills; we’ll make some usability improvements and tone down some of their unintended functionality.

“We noticed that some players weren’t playing Warrior, so we removed the Necromancer and Ranger professions and replaced them with more Warriors.”
Yeah I’ve been maiming Necro since GW1. Unfortuneately we aren’t as awesome anymore
While Necro isn’t as awful for fractals as it is for any other PvE content, you won’t really want to use one in a group that isn’t clearing casually. Now I say this after getting to fractal level 43 mostly on my necro, but they really are undesirable and simply underwhelming for group play.
Some fractals can synergize well with Necro, like grawl or even dredge if you have a lot of gear you can swap through. I played a hybrid through to lv30 but the ferocity shift hit hybrid builds pretty hard.
6/2/0/0/6 will work, but prepare to be vastly less effective than your teammates. Fun tip, for the shaman boss use chilling darkness trait with well of darkness on the adds when they spawn.
Edit: or just use a guardian

All I want is more weapon diversification. Even if we don’t get new weapon classes, I just want to see existing weapons opened up to more classes. I would bet that they don’t want to deal with the balancing nightmare but playing the same stuff is getting really boring.

Someone caught this and posted on reddit:

So she was experiencing the entity before Omadd?
So in the new update we find Scarlet’s diary, in which she states that all future entries will not be written. But then in LS1 we have Scarlet’s Journal, which presumably was written afterwards. Any significance to the timeline?
I’m hopeful so long as these additions achievements are actual skilled play and not one shot mechanics
This has to be a troll, come ooon
Similar to dungeon tokens and sets, I think it would be neat to have world bosses drop a currency upon defeat that could be redeemed for skins. Most world bosses have an NPC that could be used to offer the items. This could rally motivation for succeeding bosses as well as add new skins to the game that aren’t gem store or LS exclusives.
