What, you’ve never heard of a bubble suit?
Thank you, I now have coffee sprayed onto my keyboard .
Only to play the devil’s advocate: If players are placing decorations in their home instances, how does Anet safely populate these instances with NPCs? E.g. how can they ensure that Ridhais will appear without collision issues?
Anybody know if these upgrades can still be completed after the festival ends, or they have to be done during the festival? I’m assuming once unlocked they can be completed at any time?
Asking because we don’t have guild anthems unlocked yet.The upgrades themselves will probably hang around by the ability to acquire the necessary items is going to go away unless you have all the bauble baubles necessary but haven’t bought the items for some reason.
This. It would be a non-trivial amount of coding to put time constraints on guild upgrades, and completely unnecessary at that. While I cannot say for certain, I strongly believe you’ll be able to complete this upgrade at any time in the future, so long as you have the materials.
If people get bored of SAB they can play other content and when they feel like playing some SAB with their friends they can go whenever they want. This is the benifit of making it permenant cause everyone wins.
I’ve never understood how people can use the “everyone wins” argument after it’s explained to them how not everybody will win. You may choose to keep yourself ignorant of the truth, you may choose to ignore what’s been said by the devs, but that doesn’t make it any less true:
SAB is a hack, and will break as the devs update the game and its engine. They’re not going to spend development time ensuring that it will continue to work all year long; that would be them operating at a loss.
Here are some links:
- Blog post from when it first returned
- Discussion with Josh Foreman:
tl;dr: Maintaining SAB and ensuring that it continues to function outside of a small time-frame is too resource heavy.
My 10th and 11th characters were created so that I could try out something new without having to rebuild my original characters.
For example, I made a second ranger just to try out the druid/healing style, and a second rev to play around with conditions. In the end, I habitually buy one additional character slot to either grab keys or test some wiki documentations.
Since the Unstable Hides, Bloodstone-Warped Hides, and other similar items have come out, I haven’t felt a need to create another mid-range bag opener. But others may know if they’re still worth having around.
Polls have no use here. They give a false statistic because they represent only a small portion of the community that plays GW2.
I for one would like to have polls. Polls, forums, or whatever form of information gathering system is always going to be limited by representative portions of the community that chooses to participate; just like the representation of people that actually post on the ANet forums compared to actual gamers.
Everyone would like accurate data. The problem is getting it. You need to figure out how to handle the numerous inherent flaws in polling, only one of which is sampling.
Edit: Removed headache induced sarcasm.

Why should any member be killed off? Is Rytlock still part of DE? Why aren’t they alphabetical? Are we to assume someone will soon be killed? Is it Zojja, because she is listed first?
I love seeing perspectives I never considered .
As a follow-up to the above, as I shouldn’t have just said things were true sans examples, I’ve got a couple of problems you can consider:
- I recently won big when opening a Dab of Destabilized Ectoplasm from my weekly BL Key run. Should I add this win to the data collection page on the wiki? FYI, I go by Greener on the wiki as well.
Warning! Problem 2 contains spoilers to the Heart of Thorns story.
- See how many flaws you can find in the poll question below:
Which member of Destiny’s Edge should Anet kill off next?
- The asura, Zojja
- The human, Logan
- The charr, Rytlock Brimstone
- The sylvari, Caithe

Oh dear. While I understand that forum software will not be fixed and it’s a lost cause, I think it’s silly to argue against getting an information gathering tool. Obviously polls have their limitations as people have already described but at the same time we (and Anet) are all smart individuals and are aware of those limitations when applying them to decision making.
There are lots of benefits to being able to poll and few harmful effects. Don’t like or believe in polls? Then don’t participate. Think a poll is completely stupid or biased? Then write a comment in the post saying so. We are not in danger of Anet misinterpreting or over extrapolating poll results either.
Going against Anet giving us an extra tool to use is like shooting ourselves in the foot but it seems like I’m clearly in the minority in this case.
It’s not just about polls having limitations. You have to recognize that online polling results can be very inaccurate and misleading. Anet is not the only group that will be looking at the results, and expecting players to be experts in statistical analysis is too much (i.e. they won’t be able to notice how poor the data is, and are far more likely to believe the poor data is somehow correct).
Letting regular players create polls will more often lead to useless and harmful data than to something that’s worthwhile for Anet to look at. This is why, as others have pointed out, polls and their questions are created with great care and often with the help of polling experts. Even then, mistakes are made.
If you have a background in statistical analysis and polling, and you wish to create a rigorous survey/poll for the community, there are other viable places to do so, as suggested, and I’d love to participate.
Here is a list of zones by level which you may want to look at. There are four zones with enemies leveled 15 – 25 (I don’t know which race you are so I can’t say which one to aim for).
If you’d like to do some more exploration, as suggested above you could head to another starting zone. The game will automatically down-scale you to the zone if your level is too high, so the fights will be about the same difficulty, and you’ll get the same amount of experience.
Abusing game mechanics allowed.
Friendlisted many afk farmers to check their status, they still “play” everyday for months.
Reported billions of them, opened tickets. Anet says it is forbidden and we “AWARE” “CARE”.
I don’t see any actions taken.
Be thankful as abusing the reporting feature is bannable too.
Abuse ?
Nevermind. I won’t argue with “Afk Farmer”.It’s not really constructive to make a personal attack on them by claiming they’re just an “AFK farmer” simply because they disagree with you. Why not counter their statement about abusing the reporting feature as being bannable instead?
Maybe reporting “AFK Farmers” not abuse ?
Meh. Why i even try. Probably another Afk Farmer defending their toxic kind.
As Ayrilana pointed out in what you quoted, your thoughts and ideas won’t go anywhere if you make personal attacks; you simply make your own stance look weaker. Discuss the issue at hand.
I honestly don’t see a purpose in what this thread is wanting. The amount of resources ANET would have to put towards this wouldn’t justify the limited market the change would create. Plus it would pull resources away from other areas of development and for me that wouldn’t be worth it.
And such is the attitude of Guild Wars 2 community:
- Player 1: Anet is wasting time developing e-sport
- Player 2: Anet is wasting time developing raid
- Player 3: Anet is wasting time developing outfits
- Player 4: Anet is wasting time developing WvW
- Player 5: Anet is wasting time developing API
- Player 6: Anet is wasting time developing gem store functions
Differences in priorities are found in every community; individuals want different things.
In this case, players have wishlists which can be expanded ad nauseum, while Anet needs to review things by their ROI. That dichotomy can add strain and frustration, but also needs to be respected.
That decoration panel is just weird. You don’t receive the items you purchase – they’re often gizmos that aren’t set to auto-consume. When you have received an item things get weirder, and you end up with a consumable to effectively give you two decorations instead of the expected one.
My guess is that this vendor is tied to the guild’s crafting or decorating processes, which may currently be designed to take only one item at a time in a queue.
But yes, that is a lot of clicking that we have to do; SAB punishes you twice-over for getting those Fancy Furniture Coins!
Thank you so much for that beautiful music, and thank you to Anet for also highlighting it in a blog post.
Don’t forget that in many ways SAB is a hack of the game. Each year it comes out it seems they have to go in and fix bugs which were created by their standard updating of the game and its engine.
Having it available to players all year as a purchased product would mean that they would have to constantly keep updating SAB to ensure its playable while also trying to develop new content for the rest of the player base.
I’d also love “being an awful person” as a category, but that one is just me, I’m pretty sure.
Yeah, that carries a poor connotation if it’s something which players can see while in-game, even if it’s hidden in a drop-down menu. Granted, “being a kitten” would lead to some interesting false positives for Support!
First and foremost, I want to acknowledge the fact that this topic is neither related to the game nor to the forums. As such, if this thread gets moved or closed by the forum members here, I completely understand.
So what’s going on?
Some of you may have noticed that the English wiki has a banner across the top saying that there is a request for adminship currently on going. A link to the page can be found here, and a link to its talk page is here. A Request for Adminship, or RfA, is the process by which the player community gives another community member an administrative role on the wiki.
So what’s an admin?
Admins on the wiki are similar to moderators on these forums. They’re active in the day-to-day clean-up of the wiki, and step in whenever issues cannot resolve themselves. On the forums, the general user does not know who the moderators are, but on the wiki we make a clear list. Moderators on the forums are reached privately via an email, while wiki admins are generally reached via the Admin Noticeboard (though if the situation warrants you may absolutely email the wiki admins directly).
More details on admins can be found here if you’re interested.
So why you should care?
Well, that’s a personal choice. The wiki is a player-built resource, managed by players for players. Not everything ticks by smoothly, conflicts do arise, and environments can turn negative or unwelcoming. We rely on the admin team to help resolve these issues when those involved cannot do it themselves. But you, the general user of the wiki, should have some say in who has administrative powers.
A few wrapping up points:
Contributors who are admins are contributors who sometimes have to put on an additional hat, but we don’t give out those hats freely, and your input is invaluable. This forum thread is not the place to discuss the contributor nor the RfA. If you have questions or concerns about either you can bring them to the RfA talk page. If you would like to make a statement about the contributor’s possible adminship you can bring it to the the RfA page itself. And no, you do not need to create an account to contribute to the discussion.
Finally, if you’re not too sure how to contribute (e.g. that darn wiki-code is in the way), let us know below and we’ll gladly help remove that barrier.
Thank you.

I’ve sent you a temp invite to a guild with a fully upgraded LP hall.
It’s a Charged Rifle Barrel that you need for your collection, which comes from a Oiled Orichalcum Rifle Barrel
The stock is the Machined Rifle Stock from noxious pods.
The community can also pick up the mantle and entertain themselves. Goodness knows we have a large enough set of sandboxes!
Feedback, which some posters above have given, is far more valuable to Anet than a poll, especially an online one.
I would like to know the arguments of someone that truly like the penalty box.
Why? It’s not a question of truly liking a penalty or being penalized. You’re better off looking for arguments from players that feel the penalty box is appropriate or justifiable in that instance.
E.g. I may not like the speeding ticket that I got, but I acknowledge that it is justified as a means of controlling behaviour.
As a follow up, they’re in the gem store right now for one day only.
Rather than reinventing the wheel, I’ll link you to a rather in-depth overview for gear: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Tanetris/So_You_Want_To_Gear_a_Character
I know that’s just throwing more information your way, so my apologies, but I think the above can answer some of your questions concerning accessories and progression.
Some ascended gear you can get as rewards for events or achievements.
Correct.
- This is the recipe sheet – Recipe: Charged Ambrite Orichalcum Amulet
- This is the recipe itself
- This is what they’ll produce – Flax Blossom Orichalcum Amulet
No one person individually opens enough chests to know. People can aggregate results on the Wiki, but sadly that doesn’t happen often and without restarting the counts every time the contents are cycled, the information that is present is likely to be highly inaccurate.
Yeah, I noted that. I track my own, but I’ve only opened 293, which is apparently nowhere near the amount needed.
I used to add them to the wiki’s research page, but my edits disappeared about a year ago. I didn’t know if they were folded in or just removed, so I didn’t want to re-add them.
I did get two Noran’s safe room/keys back-to-back a few weeks ago. Interestingly, I didn’t actually receive the second one, possibly because I already had one in inventory. I actually received two BL chest keys instead. So, that might be a warning for folks.
Hey Daddicus, I did some digging and I see that you tried to bring this to the wiki’s attention more than a few times. Sorry it didn’t get addressed.
Quick summary: Due to the changing mechanics of the BL Chests, the wiki must throw out all previous information that had been gathered and start anew. We don’t know what changes were made to the drop rates between versions. We had been updating an archive listing but that’s fallen by the wayside (effort > return; or too few knew about the page, including me).
A listing of previous archives led me to your most recent set of 59 chests (don’t look at the actual page; a new data structure makes it frightening).
I know it’s discouraging to see work disappear, but in order to have a remote chance of figuring out odds we’ll need to keep on gathering solid data. Only with a large buy-in from the community can the numbers be accurate (or perhaps we can get hints from Anet on how their loot tables work ).
Try talking to Tizlak over in Thistlevine Ravine in Verdant Brink. He can be found on the extreme right of the area (the edge of the T-shaped zone on this map where the path bends to run North-South).
If he gives you another one, could you let us know so that the wiki can be updated?
If I had even the slightest belief that Anet was showing an animal in distress, I would agree that a change may be needed. I say this after killing many cows and moas .
That said, I’m willing to accept any story which points to the contrary, as this is a fantasy world. To quote Gnashblade, “I’ve heard of a fish out of water, but this is absurd. Thanks to certain, uh…proprietary advancements in magic, we’ve got a genuine Krytan* bass here that’ll follow you wherever you go.”
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/reel-in-a-mini-floppy-fish-today/
The proprietary advancement in magic is enough of an escape mechanism to put me at easy.
Intriguing idea, but wouldn’t that just be an automatic upgrade?
Convert to a specific skin —> Convert to any skin?I don’t see an issue with that because there aren’t all that many ‘skins’ that we acquire for free; there’s usually a quest or gem cost or something that we’ve already “paid.” (The notable exceptions are GW1 HoM skins + AP chest skins, although those arguably also have a cost.)
Yeah, it’s a minor issue at best. It perhaps would add some value to items on the TP such as the Pink Quaggan Backpack Cover, though I’m too lazy to calculate the additional value with the API currently down.
FPS? Obviously Guild Wars 2 is in the RTS genre if anything. Or Possibly a 4X. Or possibly you could try a little harder with your trolling.
It’s totally a tower defense. Was on VB last night, and was placing turrets everywhere to keep the mordrem at bay.
True, I guess I could have also said a MOBA because of the lanes in Dragon’s Reach.
And Tangled Depths is just a polished up Dig Dug.
Because fantasy should involve magic, and my Iron Legion charr engineer will have none of it.
Granted, my sylvari elementalist did throw a lot of fireballs and lightning bolts when fighting his dragon father, at the behest of his tree spirit mother…
Well, that’s true. I did always think that flamethrower wielding cat people who can shoot bullets out of their belt buckle were too realistic for this game.
I’m Catman!

You’ll have to wait for them to appear in the gem store again. Sadly, I cannot find the last time that they were put on sale.
You can always leave a note on the gem store request page and hope that it gets added at some point.

The word “armor” isn’t a real word either. Neither is “humor”.
To prove it, type the words into a reply here; the words are underlined in red.
Now, “armour” and “humour” are correct.
PS
Yes, I’m kidding – my ability to write tongue-in-cheek is lacking. One thing that does bake my noodle though is " I could care less".Maths is not a word. It’s Math.
Right back at ya!
Things like that don’t bother me at all. I suppose I could even let irregardless go (ugh…that double negative!), but literally is literally destroyed of all meaning at this point. The dictionary says it is what it is, and also the opposite of what it is.
If that isn’t the precursor (doh!) to alternative facts, I don’t know what is.
Armour, humour, maths….
Them British folk, they need to learn English like us Americans!
Literally. Irregardless of being a foreign country.
:P
Hey, us Canucks tend to go for armour and colour as well, but at least everyone agrees on Mathematics .
Heck just check out the historical traits/skills and look at all the playstyles and builds that are completely removed from the game.
You know, we work hard to give context; please don’t ignore it. The very first bullet point on that page says, “Many of the effects from these traits were merged with other traits.”
You did nothing wrong. Some stats are account bound upon creation, such as Marauder or Nomad (e.g. Marauder Pearl Conch )
This thread serves no purpose other than giving a place for people to speak rather than converse. The number of separate topics in here makes it impossible for people, including devs, do wade through.
Better idea: Go to the subforums for the professions and express the changes that you would like, and please ensure you give a reason for why a change is needed. This way a focused discussion can occur, and ideas can be expressed, expanded, and reviewed far more easily. A refresher on how to give good feedback is advisable.
You’ll notice that Anet has been approaching balance patches by focusing on certain professions at a time, and explaining the direction they’re trying to take each profession. If this is their process, it’s best to communicate in kind.
Edit: Realized the wrong connotation was probably coming through.
(edited by Greener.6204)
That’s a lovely, simple solution to a problem that I’ve had as well. Sure, we’d have to take it on faith that someone doesn’t slip out mid-melee to get their skills back, but that’s a minor issue compared to the two minute cooldown that some skills have.
Rime-Rimmed breathers use regular skins, like the Metal Aquabreather. The effect is item based, similar to the Vial of Liquid Aurillium.
Perhaps in the future the breathers can be remade to have upgrades of their own hold the effect instead of just the breather.
Weird table with a “how to” >> weird table without a “how to”
ThanksAs an example of a “use case,” the typical question is:
“Where do I get trailblazer trinkets?”Infrequently, people ask,
“Where do I get Toughness|Condi + Vit|Expertise trinkets?”
I was playing around with trying to get the semantic queries to act like http://gw2wbot.darthmaim.de/smiley/gw2itemsearch.html, another site I have bookmarked. It uses the API. I will have to bug some semantic experts to see what can happen.
Best case scenario, they manage to extend our Trinket search with something like Vendor query, though I don’t know the latter’s efficiency and accuracy; it’s not been handling historical vendors too well.
Anyways, getting off topic at this point. Hope the OP found the items.
Maybe the “acquisition pages” can include at the top a link to a “semantic search” of some sort. Ideally, it would format it in a way that made the costs clear enough so you could figure out which map you need to farm for the relevant currencies.
As it stands now, if a Wiki Veteran Editor™ avoids those pages, I doubt very much if they are useful as documentation for the rest of us.
You’ve given me an idea. Not sure yet if it will require the breaking of the laws of physics (or just the wiki) to pull off. In the mean time, a small bandaid.
Map currency vendors on the new LS maps.
I wish the wiki stated it so plainly :/
I’ve used that page a few times. I honestly have avoided it… Tables that dense are tough to wrap one’s head around, and only after knowing where to find certain prefixes do I know what that table is trying to say (i.e. the table doesn’t help me, it just reminds me from time to time ).
Go to the semantic search on the wiki. Paste the following into the Query box, then click find results at the bottom.
[[Has equipment supertype::Trinket]][[Has level requirement::80]][[Has selectable equipment prefix::trailblazer]][[Has item rarity::Ascended]][[Is attuned::false]][[Is infused::false]]
Some come from map merchants, some from raids, some from PvP. The Mordrem Loop is from an achievement. Rurik’s Engagement Ring can be crafted. There may be other one-offs in the list.
Edit: Fractals —> PvP. I’m not familiar with either .
(edited by Greener.6204)
I have never seen fractals at level 100.
I have never seen mechanics ramp up like that.
I have never seen the game played with that level of skill!
My jaw most definitely dropped more than once.
Along the same vein, I happened to catch someone streaming the new Zelda game without fast traveling to locations. It made that world feel even more alive as well.
I’m glad you were able to build a stronger connection to the game, and I hope it continues to grow.
wow thank you for the reply! So i am assuming celestial or marauder are only crafted items? Or can be bought somewhere (out of tp)?
They can only be crafted. The search for your guardian armour can be done using this:
[[Has level requirement::80]][[Has armor weight class::Heavy]][[Has equipment prefix::marauder]][[Has item type::Helm]][[Has item rarity::Exotic]]
You can remove the “Has item type” parameter if you’d prefer to see the six pieces. Else you can browse the other options by using: Helm, Aquatic helm, Shoulders, Coat, Gloves, Leggings, or Boots.
If you’re looking to gear up in other weight classes, you can use: Heavy, Medium, or Light. And of course, you can change the item rarity to Ascended.
Well we did get one additional revive animation. Haven’t you watched your allies punch their downed patients back to life? I’ll give Anet credit for thinking outside the norm with that one .
