I agree. A lot of other mmo’s will surpass this aspect of the game and they need to implement it eventually. Mounts add so much farming and specialization content and would probably look awesome with gw2 art style. At first I thought it was not a good idea because of elitism and also empty world but people want more end game stuff to do and it would be perfect.

A good way to implement them would be to perhaps only have new 80+ level zones where mounts are allowed. They can’t fly for the reasons above, BUT if flying mounts were implemented, flight would only be a visual thing—such as the mount only flies say ten feet off of the ground.

Keep the mounts only allowed in certain zones and established parts of cities outside for people that dont want clipping of exotic mounts everywhere spamming elitist remarks.

Has anyone even seen a “horse” in game?

1. )A new expansion that implements new wvw zones in pve along with three new joinable pve factions in game for control of capture points that last infinitely. Unlike current wvw, these zones will be pve zones where the faction of your choosing will alliance you with other players up against two other alliances of players for control of capture points that doesn’t end after two weeks but builds faction pride. This will make wvw way better and keep up with games like elder scrolls online that will be doing this.

II.) Mounts. I’m sorry but a variety of mounts in game would create more farming content and specialization. They dont’ have to fly per say, perhaps mounts in only new zones and see how it goes.

c.) “Longer End Game Dungeons” Make dungeons that require perhaps ten people and take time to beat. It would be great to have end game content such as dungeons that your guild or friends can instance in and out of that take longer to beat—such as a week or two.

So magic find helps with drops and perhaps coffers from mobs as I assume it would, but does it help with opening coffers/chests of that sort. I assume it would and have tried to use magic find whenever opening but no real confirmation on whether or not this will help our chances.

Not bad (dude, dudette ?), I like it a lot.

However, I think that there are enough greatswords at the moment and need more other weapons. I mean if a new batch of legendaries hit us, then sure I would be interested in this snake GS, but personally, from the “gentle” and elegant nature of “Crone’s Child”, I would much rather see it as a single handed sword, fit for a mesmer or a thief.

But hey, that’s just my opinion …

The sword was modeled after a two handed Danish sword meant for thrusting mainly but yeah I understand your concern, it has a more gentle caster feel to it. I need to make the rest of the weapons set to go along with it =)

I primarily use short bows, and for once I was looking forward to the jade short bow as being a smaller version of the longbow since this dragon longbow is so freaking awesome…then I was greatly disappointed.

Not only does the short bow not look like the longbow, but it barely has any visible dragon features other than the heads at the ends (yes, heads…plural) due to being completely covered up by these silver things hiding most of the bow…and to make it worse, the ‘handle/grip’ area is squared in 90 degree angles and wrapped tightly with brown string so it completely destroys any form of snake/dragon appearance.

So now I have a longbow skin just to have it despite my never using longbows. Only other decent looking one was the axe skin, but I rarely if ever use axes due to the skills for them really not being all that powerful/useful.

They need to make a new explorable dungeon for these meta events/celebrations. Dungeons that give out currency just like other dungeons with new npc vendors.

So you run the dungeon enough times you know what you are getting and how much it takes, not JUST random prizes.

Got first jade weapon the longbow last night for my warrior!

Was between that and the GS or Shield—very hard choice but the longbow won me over. Looks massive on my norn female. If i get another one though will be shield hands down, I just hardly try shield offhand combos.

Mildly upset the guns seemingly shoot smoke trails but the bow doesn’t have any affects—oh well.

nice dagger! I am working on something like that but I find the modeling much harder lol.

I really wanted to mimic this sword which I really want. It’s from Darksword Armory, the Two Handed Danish Sword. The sword is long but thin for thrusting and has an extended lower grip on blade for using powerful thrusts and cutting with two hands. I also like the shape of the guard. It’s my favorite sword right now, and if it had a snake theme It would be my sword for sure!

Here’s my new Legendary Great Sword Design. The sword is called “Crone’s Child” as it was said to be conjured by a mysterious sorceress who lived in the swamps around Twighlight Arbor. The carrier of this sword is followed by snakes and it has a 30% chance to root people by constriction of snakes from the ground for 2 seconds on critical strike =).

I get your point, although perhaps this should be saved for more of a profession instead of a race.

If they could make a shaman or “shifter” type profession that could morph into different stuff aside from animals it would be cool.

The different trait lines could be:

Monsterology: transform into different Tyrian monsters = power

Shaman: transform into different Animals of Tyria = Toughness

Mimic: transform into different “lesser” races of Tyria=precision

Warlock: transform into demonic ghosts of Tyria =healing

Sorcery: you don’t transform but take on body parts of different creatures=stamina

If you don’t want to use rifle, you could play around with gs/axe,axe build with build posted below. change arms harpoon and rifle trait “harpoon” to “swift axe.” This way you get a lot of crit with your gs and axes but also have a pretty tough warrior. I am working on this one =)

It would be badassery to have a new race implemented that can mimic other lesser races for racials or abilities.

The race would have to be somewhat shamanic similar to the Norn, but instead of transforming into animals players transform into other races of Tyria.

For instance, you could turn into a quaggan or krait for underwater, a skritt, Tengu or dredge for land.

I’m not sure what kind of race would be the default form, but perhaps a Tengu or even something new.

This would allow players to play other races without having to implement other ones to satisfy everyone and also allow a cool new mechanic. I’m thinking “shifter” or “Mimic” as a new profession could even go along with this race where different races can be acquired through trait lines and such.

If no new professions, than at least we get a cool new race with interesting racial abilities and mechanics.

I like the idea of playing an aquatic race for sure, but not sure another “cute” race should be added.

I like the idea of perhaps creating an aquatic race of shamans similar to the norn are that can perhaps turn into lesser aquatic races such as quaggan and krait.

The idea would be to create racial skill where you can turn into other underwater races and these races have unique abilities to what build you are trying to create. This way we can have our “druid” abilities, still have proper armor mechanics, and have a new race all in one.

So basically we have a wvw looking more like end game content that is similar to what Elder Scrolls Online will have—an ongoing map of pvp gameplay that doesn’t change every two weeks and encourages faction pride.

I think this type of warfare would be better than what we currently have as many players don’t even realize our worlds standing in wvw, it just starts over every two weeks. By having a map where places have to be constantly held for your faction (living guild) this would promote more involvement and conviction for keeping something.

I know I want some stuff from this event for sure although am worried with my work schedule I won’t obtain anything.

One thing though, don’t make anything purchasable as skins on Black Lion—it needs to be easier to get, but not that easy. No one wants to showoff something that anyone can just buy.

I would say just make things clearer on how to obtain specific stuff if anything. I still have no idea what I need to do to get anything. Do I do dragon bash to get currency or just wait on drops for wings? do jade items drop in dragon bash or only from candy from other stuff? Is candy awarded on a predictable basis or is it simply rare drops from these crates? Are crates rare drops or rewards? What can I honestly do over and over again to obtain stuff?

It’s all so vague to me but perhaps half of the work is research. All i know is I want some wings, and a staff in jade if they have one—how?

New PvP Living Story Guild Zone

Main Concept:

Living Story Guild vs Guild vs Guild (LSGVGVG) : A form of pvp gameplay where players join one of three distinct guilds led by NPC Leader/Leaders and follow a general story to take over new zone.

The three guilds act as in game factions in opposition, and only operate on a level 80 plus zone. Players help take control of central Castle or point to obtain access to a “Legendary Dungeon” for guildies.

examples of Guild Ideas: “The BlackLion Trading Co, Destiny’s Edge, Southsun Pirates..etc..” Not specific to any races or professions but by lore and style.

Main Features:

End game Players will have to choose one of three new Living Story Guilds to join and then will progress in new zone. “Characters” and cannot change guilds once it has been chosen, and only one LSG can be represented.

Living Story Guilds are part of Living Story and are lead by important NPC’s which players can join. Living Story Guild is separate from any other player made guilds, and also has it’s own chat where NPC leaders will update players with important event or achievements on map.

Players who complete specific objectives will be promoted in guild ranking by NPC Leaders with rewards and loot.

The Living Guild Hall will act as a unique starting area on new map. It will have it’s own Bank, Exclusive Guild Dungeon with exclusive gear for your LSG.

The new zone/map will be similar to a wvwvw map although larger with more pve events. The zone is divided into three in accordance to the three lsgs themes. Capture points are located around central capture castle on map and provide advantages to capturing center Castle.

The LSG who holds the center castle of map has access to a Legendary Dungeon inside the castle that drops exclusive LSGVGVG armor and gear. The castle must be held to farm this dungeon but can be held as long as the guild can hold it—it doesn’t start over every two weeks.

I concur. They need to implement something so that players get together and make friends somehow. If i’m in wvw there is map chat or also the guild chat, but other than that it is rare that people want to get together—sometimes I am left feeling other players are cold and might as well be npc’s. This happened less in wow although I think gw2 is one of the best online games there is—they just need to focus on getting people to communicate in some new way.

Lords Of Krampus[LOK] looking for new and experienced players for SOR defensive guild. We believe that to progress at this point in WvW, we need a robust defensive strategy overhaul.

We are creating three squads:
1. Claws, need elite warriors and ninjas running in small groups to defend and take back our supply camps. These players need to be able to run supply to our keeps and stay alive from invaders.
Wall Templars: Siege masters that know strategic siege locations, can provide build sites, and man siege on our walls. These players need to like standing on a wall and defending at all times. We want our walls to be impenetrable!

I dont’ see the big qualm with this idea other than the joy of telling people no. Even the whole action bar changing. When I got Calenbolg the first time, i knew it was too good to be true, BUT I didn’t feel OP or anything, just different abilities. It would basically be the same as if they implemented new weapons with new action bars, only harder to get and way cooler. The weapons changing the action bar is one of the most unique things about gw2, adding these types of legendaries would only go further in that direction. It’s not as if someone is going to obtain one of these types of legendary’s and then say “dohp, my action bar isn’t working the same for my ele staff and now this button won’t do this, so I don’t recognize this game anymore and the game is broken.” or, " Man i don’t have enough time to get that legendary nor the skills it has therefore I hate this unfair game." What logic tells you that everybody should be able to use all skills from weapons with the same abilities—like that was a big draw to the game or something. “We also have implemented weapons that change your skill bar, if you are an ele and use a staff, it doesn’t matter who you are—you will always get to use the same five skills as everyone else.!” That is not as cool as, "there are epic legendaries out there that will give you a new set of skills.

I think it would be best if legendary weapons offered a new elite skill. This way it’s not “game changing” and people wouldn’t go off about how OP someone is with legendary. It would still be an advantage, but one that is minimal and with elite cool down.

If devs read this, i want a legendary staff elite that lets me summon a phantasmal dragon!

This is a pure glass cannon build with Greatsword and a defensive with Staff (Phase Retreat every 6 seconds is a literal life saver). Greatsword when safe, staff when in danger. I use this primarily for dungeons so my utilities I select usually depend on the content.

this build looks like a winner, thanks I will try it. it looks sort of like where I was going and has some stuff i like from last build—like dodge roll clones mainly. I like this as it gives a great escape—although I traded it i think for compounding power and speed.

also, if you haven’t, try using the signets inspiration and midnight in tandem. If you are in a group, you lose some utility but over all groups i have ran with are OP having the extended boons transferred to them after every cool down. To me, it’s almost easier than giving boons through your field utility skill, especially with staff if you stand in your own chaos field and stack the crap out of boons on people.

does anyone use a great greatsword and staff build, and what is your build? your utilities? I’m not sure how many topics on this but any advice would be appreciated.

I have been trying to maximize a build with both and would like some input. I have tried two or three builds using gs/staff and am kind of liking the one i currently i have. I am basically a pretty conservative mesmer build as of now but am still power>precision>toughness.

I am currenty all the way on chaos, and have traited for staff for all the toughness you get. I also traited to get greatsword training to get the power. So I am kind of sacrificing power and precision for toughness from the staff but in wvw or fractals find i don’t have to heal as much or even dodge when i am on staff. I just want to maximize damage on greatsword while still being durable in fights on staff if I need to be. At the same time I want to maximize phantasms so i assume that is power/precision and not condition for the iwarlock?

I also am wondering about utilities for maximizing this type of playstyle. I have currently been playing with signets for utilities and have all three utilities as signets. I know i am sacrificing some utilities but it is awesome in wvw. Basically i get the random boons, along with a prolonged duration on those boons and the ability to boon my allies or especially phantasms. I took signet of midnight just to get some extra condition damage. anyone?

I currently prefer the iwarlock over the swordsman as the base damage per attack isn’t far behind plus the extra damage from your conditions that your other staff skills are putting on them. The swordsman is awesome but I think not worth giving up the survival and utility your staff has. Also if you are a power build some of your damage is lost on using a staff in general as it focused on conditions and boons but I think the iwarlock does benefit from power damage, it’s just that your condition damage is less in general if you are traited power. BUT, remember that Might will also increase condition damage along with power so anyway to get might will get conditions and the iwarlock to do even more damage. If you use signet of inspiration, activate it on your iwarlock and phantasms in general when you get might. Also, if you want to try it, slot all of your armor with superior runes of Lyssa, as it will at least up your condition duration along with precision for your staff, which wouldn’t hurt your iwarlock, plus when you heal you gain all boons for five seconds (might).

if you build for power>precision I don’t think it will hurt much.

Couldn’t really find information elsewhere and was wondering. . .

Does signet of illusions when activated transfer to our illusions? phantasms? clones? For that matter, would even the passive transfer to our illusions if they were out?

Do the boons stack on pre-existing traited boons such as fury for phantasms?

Is there a cap on the number of surrounding allies that will get the buff?

I couldn’t decide between them either so I ended up building my entire build around maximizing both. I’m currently using both for pve and wvw.

The gs is good for offensive and the staff good for a little of both and also escaping, although not as good of damage as gs. Stat for power and focus on anything that maximizes your PHANTASMS—you know the pink guys. Don’t even use other illusions accept for trying to get away or create a fast shatter on your staff’s 2 skill.

Here are some common scenarios in fights.

If you are pveing a boss or mobs i just switch back and forth between the gswords berzerker and the staffs illusionary warlock—they both put out the most damage—never keep anything out but these guys and keep popping them as they can be killed easier. Between this keep using your staff aoe and your gs vulnerability while keeping as much distance as you can with your beam—your phantasms will pick up boons from static field so also keep this in mind.

With fighting ranged, always try to put the glamour shield utility on them reflecting their projectiles, then put static field aoe on them and start spamming your phantasms again while keeping distance. Once the glamour shield goes away, pop your shatter that causes reflection causing their ranged to hurt them.

For melee attacking you do all of the same thing except you use your retaliation shatter—you just have to time it right so that the melee is on you right when your illusions can shatter on him—but you also have shatter on yourself but need to have illusions out. This is hard to get down and situational but i’ve seen rogues kill themselves doing this in one shatter—or they are like wtf and stealth, giving you time to get some more illusions out. oh yeah and trait for dodge illusions too so you can get them back out fast.

Also, does anyone know if activating signet of inspiration transfers boons to phantasms??—i mean it says allies but have never really researched it. .

sometimes you can try /sleep and angle yourself to clip inside of a wall or something—this helps and i have done it once that worked, although npc’s somehow out of nowhere I aggroed lol. Try doing that if you can find a spot already sort of out of foot traffic, it worked for me behind a supply camp where no one was really going but of course the npc’s caught on and then I was toast!

I am currently a fan of the Vision of the Mists greatsword. It’s entire model screams mesmer—it’s pink, it’s an illusion, and It’s called Vision of the Mists, as if that doesn’t scream illusionary. It also has a sort of aristocratic mesmery feel to it as it’s not a huge blade, it’s rather thin but long. It’s actually one of my favorite skins for a greatsword period as it also has two hilts reminding me of my favorite kind of sword—something like a danish great sword that has an elongated ricasso enabling the user to grip the blade for usage optimization.

totally two handed axe—where? is it.

other would def be whip. a whip is unlike any other weapon, it should have aoe range—slightly further than melee but not as far as ranged. maybe mid range.

a morning star would also be cool

Basics of Legendary Siege Golem:

It is essentially a moving keep on legs once built. The golem requires massive amounts of supply as it is a massive Golem! Once built, the golem becomes a bonus for the world hard working enough to build it—the golem actually accrues points towards a tally just like any other point captured.

The massive golem also acts as it’s own supply carrier as well if upgraded. It’s size is about as tall as an asuran gate and it is stout with a platform on it’s shoulders and a room in it’s body. The golem can stow players inside and has windows for ranged to shoot at invaders. It also has an open platform on or around it’s head for players to stand on—siege weaponry can also be built on this platform. The golem can also be repaired by allies like other keeps.

On the map you can see it’s location, but when it moves it doesn’t appear on map. So worlds against each other will both have to strategically seek out golems or keep them moving to hide, otherwise positoning of your golem also matters. The golems can also be destroyed by siege fire so moving out of fire is an option. Golems would act as supply carriers to relief to recently taken keeps, but could also be used to knock down gates—although this puts the very expensive golem at high risk.

The golem will accumulate an agreed upon balanced points for the world that built it as long as it exists and will act as a bonus that must be dealt with as it is a considerable advantage. The Legendary Golem can’t be taken however, only destroyed. Once destroyed the golem reverts into a supply point that must be held to either save or pillage any supply the golem had. Golems cannot be built inside of keeps or towers, but build site is hidden on map from enemy until built. Only a small agreed upon number of legendary golems can be built per world.

The user action bar is up for debate but some neat ones are:

1. Move—so when you move it is an actual skill with a cooldown making moving something you can’t do conventionally.
2. Grab allies—the golem can target and pick up allies which puts them inside.
3. Grab/place supply—the golem can empty other supply points and also place supply at other keeps and towers.
4. Release Drone Guards—something where you can spawn four npc drone guards. Once deployed that ability is locked, but unlocks when one of your guards die, but with cooldown. Like keeps and towers, the guards are upgradable. So guards can be upgraded to be tougher or more powerful, and also the quantity of drones. When idle or out of combat the guards will surround your perimeter and follow you, but will get aggro from invaders.
5. Grab enemy—so maybe an elite or something but would be cool to be able to grab enemies and throw them, when they land they take considerable falling damage and enemies they hit also take this falling damage—this would have a short cooldown.

Here are some ideas my guild came up with~please share your ideas for anything mechanical that could be possibly implemented!

MOAT: Would be interesting to have an upgrade option for a moat around certain towers. The moat, like anything would take supply and workers would actually begin to dig a moat for a preliminary line of defense.

It would appear once finished as a broad ditch, either dry or filled with water, or maybe even fire, that surrounds a castle. If it even was just a sharp drop off it would be a nice defensive strategy as invaders would have to perhaps jump across at a wide distance. If you fall in you would have to get out by jumping out of it, which would be made slightly difficult by puzzle like jump points sticking out of the inside.

If these were water moats, the moats would slow attackers down and be at risk of being hit easier while crossing.

If it was something like fire then of course perhaps this is a hard upgrade to get. Players that fall in receive burn damage.

ARMORED BRIDGE: in opposition to the moat, a type of siege would be an armored bridge. Players could build a bridge using supply. The Armored Bridge would be constructed as a tunnel like bridge with armor protecting players inside from ranged. Players could build the bridge to cross moats, or simply anywhere that a strategy could be devised. Players could play games of attrition, using the armored bridges to gather outside of keeps. The Bridges could even be constructed using multiple bridges to create long secure tunneling. Imagine building one long enough to protect dolyak supply lines. The bridges could be destroyed by enough fire power and enemies can enter them. Also, the bridges wouldn’t be allowed inside of keeps.

SIEGE LADDERS: Basically Ladders built with supply outside of keep walls. Once built, players can scale the walls of keeps for entry to attack from within without gates being knocked down. The ladders however perhaps break after an agreed amount of usage. They would probably have to be about as easy to destroy as an arrow cart.

LEGENDARY GOLEM: Once built the Legendary Golem becomes it’s own MOVING POINT COLLECTING TOWER for the world that built it! The Golem would be essentially a moving tower that has to be destroyed as it collects points for the world as long as it exists! It would act as a bonus for any world able to build them. It is massive enough to fit people inside, and on top of it—think trojan horse but trojan golem. It would move fairly slow but have windows for ranged to shoot from. It could continually be repaired and can also provides supply which can be used to transfer supply to other keeps.

Structurally, the golem would be pretty massive—but not too massive, considerable to the old lions arch lion statue. The way it looks could go in different directions. Two we thought of were:

1.) A giant dolyak design. Sort of alluding to the trojan horse again but keeping it gw2. It could be of assuran design or perhaps even charr—being more industrial. The user would be in the head, and could hold players inside it’s belly or on a platform on the back.

2.)A giant assuran design with traditional humanoid form. Basically it would be one stout golem similar to the ones we have now, perhaps crossed with that of a giant Rook. So you have this huge moving squarish golem with legs and arms—the legs are two huge feet that are hinged underneath the massive body, the giant arms are attached to two shoulders which act as platforms which connect to a main platform on top which is behind the golems head and neck—which pops out of the front of the body giving it a lurched sort of look. You enter a point in the feet and have a room inside with windows for shooting out and again stairs to get to the top platform.

The user would sit inside the head of these golems, your view would be scaled back to see entire golem. The user would have a new action bar with abilities that could be:

1. to move, you can’t move conventionally, and have to move by use of 1 ability. this would have a cooldown and couldn’t be used with the second ability. This is for balance as you have to sacrifice fighting for moving, and also speed buffs or portals will not work. You can go anywhere you want on map and this is strategic, as you could try to attack keeps with it but be bombarded by siege or attempt to secure or hide it.
2 unique attack ability that is also up in the air. I was thinking it would be cool to spawn gollum attack drones that act as guards for nvaders attacking the structure. also, you are able to spawn gollum drones that will protect the surrounding perimeter of your gollum, but there would be a cooldown and a cap on the ammount of drones you have. Also the drones would have life similar to npc guards.

attacking this thing would be as fun as using it. As you have to kill players defending it, players shooting atop of it, and the gollum drones protecting it.

I like this idea. An in game calendar would be great as players wouldn’t have to leave game to go to a website to see what guild members have set up.

It would be cool to implement this along with guild halls also. Like inside the guild hall there is a clickable icon to look at calendar.

A cool implementation would be to also have updates sent out by the calendar via guild chat to all guild members such as: “Fractals of Mist level one” starts in five minutes. This way the calendar just spams events in guild chat as labeled by the creator when they are starting.

awesome thanks for the post tk! If anyone wants to help a cool smaller squad guild grow then pm me in game for Lords Of Krampus! [LOK] We need self motivated people who can lead small squads for defensive purposes, especially during the day and late at night also.

We will currently mostly focus on defending our bases, being supply heavy/uprgrading dolyaks, and setting up strong defense and siege so that SoR can stop putting so much energy into taking back our stuff. We will try and let the bigger guilds zerg more territory. Also want to focus on a squad that can take and hold jp (jumping puzzle tower) better as this is a good place to have and really makes the other server work to get us out of there.

Pm me! even if you are in a guild and want to help me or need a side project when your guild isn’t around.
