Here is a possible condition that would be useful in PVE, WVW, and PVP:
Aneurism: Internal rupture
Essentially, Aneurism would be a condition that takes into account all the current conditions (or focuses on bleed only) on the target, calculates the potential damage over time the existing conditions (i.e. bleed) could cause, and causes them to explode doing the total damage of the condition stack instantaneously. Thus if you have 10 bleeds stacks on a target, and the bleeds stacks (assuming they are not cleansed) have the potential to do 4.5k damage over time. You hit DS5, and all bleed stacks are immediately wiped, and the target receives the condition damage immediately. Perhaps it also acts as a syphon and you heal a certain percentage of the damage done.
Perhaps this would be too deadly, if you ever got 25 stacks of bleed on someone it would be pretty deadly.
On the other hand, this could make us more useful in boss fights, due to the fact that a necro could burn the bleed stacks on a boss, and allow new bleed stacks to be applied, and allow us to have some form of spike damage on the boss.
At least it is unique.
Bhawb, I was not asking for pre-nerf abilities as some of those abilities were just SICK. That said, I was trying to point out the fact that we have no compensation for our lack of stability outside of DS’s secondary health pool, which equates to about 4 more hits from a thief while im stunned, knocked down, immobilized. We have no invulnerabilties, blocks, nothing to compensate for our lack of movement, or or lack of stability, just stupid transformations that are kitten in my opinion. Hell, i have even been knocked down in lich form. Do you know how stupid a lich looks lying on the ground getting upended with ele’s air 5? WTF?
With regard to mesmers, thieves, eles, they have the CC (true CC, not the limited chill/cripple CC we readily have access too) to stop you in your tracks, dps you down, and still have the evasion or abilities to get the heck out. Yeah we have an added HP that basically equates to no protection from CC , which makes you more vulnerable to being DPS down with no ability to counter. ( it just takes slightly longer to burst you down when going into DS).
It seems to me, that other classes have received a lot of counters to CC, the ability to cause CC, and the ability to do massive damage, all while healing or having a massive amount of evasions/invulnerabilities to evade, while we are left to be ping-ponged, face tanked, and die, unless we trait 30 into one trait line that gives us access to a useful stability. That does not even address our lack of escapes etc. How the f-ing kitten hell can we be an attrition class, when the class just knocks you on your kitten and gets away hands down. it is a joke.
One of the abilities i would like to see altered to pre-nerf state was DS2, where we could control our slow kitten teleport, and it was not blocked by invisible walls or terrain. Why the heck can we not have that back? That would make up for the utter lack of escape. And lets face it, our cripples, and CC does not push anyone away from us or allow us to get away. IF someone wants to be glued to a necro, its friggen easy. If someone wants to get away, its friggen easy. Its almost laughable easy.
In addition, I hope they add a DOT in DS that actually heals our health pool or does something usefull besides just another form of damage. I do not think we hurt for damage, i just think we hurt a bit for stability or the ability to counter CC, block CC, and movement on the battlefield. Damage, no, stability, battlefield movement big/huge/monsterous yes.
Heck, why not an invulnerability like redirect, instead of the necro taking the damage from the enemy, he channels the damage to his target, similiar to the ranger channeling damage to his pet. Call it deathly evasion or damage funnel or hokeypokey eatmydamaegdokey. I don’t care, but give us an ability to channel damage to an enemy target instead. SOmething unique, interesting and useful.
(edited by Gryph.8237)
I think the most beneficial DOT would be something like a life-syphon that actually heals your true health while in death shroud. Thus, you can slap that one the target that drains some degree of health from the target and heals you for the same amount. That would make shroud dancing even more fun, and useful. If DS is our pivotal ability, then make it meaningful. You could even limit it to it heals you while you stay in deathshroud, and ends when you exit.
IDK, just something interesting.
but do you think they are rather lackluster? I mean, they just dont seem to contribute a great deal, or produce very noticeable effects.
another thing, does anyone even use the grandmaster traits? I mean, some power builds use the grandmaster trait, and if you want to go 30 into SR for stability, but mostly I dont ever go 30 into a trait tree, because they are so friggen lackluster.
Once again anet, necromancers are kitten you can get knocked down with stability? in lich form, and in in DS with stability elementalists using air 5 knocked me to the ground. So the weak kitten stability we have is useless. GOOD JOB ANET you are continuing to just lose my patience with your game.
so sick of this clear love for mesmers and ele aoe and knockdowns while giving them so much kitten stability. It is so clear that they dislike necros and are in kitten love with eles, mesmers, and thieves.
play your own kitten game anet.
I think a huge improvement to Necromancer would involve replacing boon duration with crit damage in the Death Magic trait line, similar to the guardian’s setup. THus, the SR trait line would be boon duration and Life Force pool increase, and the Death Magic trait line would be toughness and crit damage increase. I think it would be a huge improvement to necromancers.
Also, why are our “best” grand master trait skills so lackluster? Most of the builds I run now dont use any of the grandmaster trait skills.
Lag, Skill Lag, Huge zergs causing bost, has kittened this game and made it worthless. Good luck when the games that actually can handle this and actually buy servers that can handle it come on the scene. Fix it or suffer the concequences.
INVEST IN YOUR GAME ANET!
Gandara needs alliances with BB and Fly hackers to finish 2nd? wow.
Wonder if next week, Gandara will actually attack BB, or if their gentlemen’s agreement will continue on into next week. I have seen Gandara and BB zergs run past each other to attack different AG keeps, without even fighting. I have also seen gandara show up at a tower being attacked by BB, only to see BB leave (without conflict) and let gandara finish the attack. That… was amazing.
getting pretty boring being the same color all the time anet. BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not only do we face the same server, but we face them from the same boring locations. The rankings predict/show that we will have the SAME MATCH-UP with the same colors again next week.
…. and btw, the whole of our server can’t even take certain keeps on our server, thus how does one expect someone to “just capture it.”
LOL, I would say because if you step outside your keep, and you’re not running away, you’re dying.
It’s a joke. At all times of the day, you guys have 3-4 times the number of the other servers. Numbers > skill. You prove it daily. GG. Not the game I want to play.
So sorry, but I have 0 respect for BB. With equal numbers, or even 2 v 1 they either run, or fall flat on their faces. The funny thing is they are winning this matchup, and it has NOTHING to do with skill. They just run from confrntation with groups up to 60-70 strong, drop 6 rams at gates, and take towers with ease because they are so numerous. THey have totally proven that it takes no skill to win, just numbers, and you can say one thing for BB, they have numbers.
Anet, you better wake up and increase your server capacity or you are going to get killed by a game that can actually handle its own programming. This 30 second skill lag is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. Skill lag, and actual lag is so stupid its not even worth playing. How do you even explain the changes you have made? Can you really support this laggy ruined game that is wvw?
WvW is broken until Anet invests into some more powerful servers. NOt enough money anet? betterinvest in your company, or you will be in trouble when the games come out that do invest.
You log in, get skill lag = minor problefm
you log in, get skill lag+ yo-yoing at the doors + 30 second delay in movement – major problem
Anet not buying better servers = inane problem
(edited by Gryph.8237)
I don’t have a clue as to why peole who play WvW (i include myself in the ranks of wvw’rs) think that pve map completion is hard at all. You can do it solo, you don’t need anyone else, let alone a huge massive blob to take a keep for 5 minutes. How can you possible expect an aspect of the game that is completely solo-able to be made easier. Map completion on the pve side of things is a joke.
Map completion in wvw depends on other players, heck, massive amounts of other players. At higher tier servers there are places you cannot take at all, unless you wait until 4am and then you only take it for 10 seconds. The important point is that you need and have to rely on other players to help you get world completion, and no one wants to stop a guild event to take a tower that is not helpful in eb, etc.
Making the legendary is hard enough, and I don’t want to have to rely on having 70+ players around me to take specific keeps to get points/vistas.
I know a large percentage of players transferred servers a lot to get wc back when it was free, and ill be 100% that they transferred for WvW points and not PvE points.
I think requiring people to transfer servers to get completion is in poor form. I also think making players rely on their server’s capability in wvw to get map completion is also very poor form.
i love the veiled snubs and backhanded comments about numbers, tactics, blobs and whtaver. Awesome. another week of the same thing. (Insert sarcasm throughout the two sentences).
well my server has been kitten red for 5-6 weeks. THANKS ANET! AWESOME SYSTEM!
Thanks anet, for another week of red. good planning. I am really, unimpressed.
seriously, YOU TRY TO COMPLETE MAP COMPLETION AT THIS STAGE OF THE GAME> JOKE!
You try and log into a game, join the battlegrounds YOU need to get world completion and see how YOU feel when your outnumbered 2 or 3 to 1. GREAT JOB ANET. lets force the SAME matchups time and time again, and see if we get the same results. It’s the definition of insanity. do the same thing over and over and over again and expect different results. CHANGE IT kitten gt;!@
Just want to say thanks for forcing some of us ot have to pay to get world completion. Thanks. really.. thanks.
(edited by Gryph.8237)
i need two vistas and two points of interest to complete my legendary. to just complete it, i have everythign else. I have tried to organize groups to bash their heads against the walls to just break downthe doors, and not even cap the keep, but to take the points i need. it has become increasingly difficult, and we have been red for the past 4 weeks. so incredibly frustrating to continue as red constantly with no community to take the keeps needed.
Mix things up kitten what would it actually mean if you could jsut change colors for us
Anet, do not force people to change servers to get world completion. really, its sorta ridiculous, you get enough money from us.
(edited by Gryph.8237)
Skill lag, huge network lag, has ruined the game. the large blobs, that were possibly there before have made it next to impossible to play for anyone not located directly on the server. I have an oustanding computer, unquestionably able to handle any load this game put out, but the skill lag/network lag has utterly made wvw extremely difficult. I cannot be the only one having this issue. There is litterally nothing I can do, because there is literally no difference between extreme graphic settings to low graphic settings with this type of network lag.
I am not sure how a wvw’r is suposed to deal with this. I am seriously dissappointed because WvW is literally the only aspect of the game that I play, and I cannot find a solution on my end.
Please don’t tell me to upgrade my computer because my system would make 80% of the people cry. It has to be something with network lag.
(edited by Gryph.8237)
wow, im so happy you could share your thoughts on the above matter, and instead actually took the time to type out your useless statement and thoughts on what other players think of the game. Thank you very much and perhaps you could censor yourself next time and not even bother to read a thread that has no interest to you. Thank you very much kitten face.
Although this has been discussed 100 times before, I think ANET should really consider removing WvW points from world completion, especially if you are going to keep a server at the same color for weeks on end, which makes it practically impossible, considering that you are outnumbered 10 to 1, and have yet to see the garrison of the opposing teams capped for months.
This game in wvw, has become increasingly unplayable. I see everyone, but my skills lag to the point to where i cannot even use them. i run into a fight, and its like im disconnected. Might as well be, because it disconnects shorly thereafter anyways. It is impossible to play wvw anymore. I have my settings turned all the way down and THERE IS NO REASON WHY I SHOULD HAVE TO DO THAT>
I have a GTX 690 card, but that does not mean anything to anet, because they dont use the graphics card, they use the processor. Ok, so i have a i7-3820 cpu @ 3.6 ghz, which i guess is not that great for gw2, because it lags terribly.
Is it your pour optimization? WHY has it steadily gotten worse as the game has developed? skill lag? really?> AWESOME!
wvw, end of culling and development of lag.
For 1 v 1 pvp, the terror build is hands down probably the best build to run, just for the control. An enemy cannot remove the conditions when you are fearing them ever 10 -15 seconds, and when your bleeds are ticking at 150 with 10+ stacks, that hurts. I also like the terror build in 5 v 5.
For WvW 15 man settings I run a power build (5/20/25/20/0) to get some survivability, but also to get wells on low cooldowns, and staff skills (greater marks, faster staff cooldowns)
I don’t like the zerker build in wvw as much because you’ll be dodging a lot and I don’t fancy getting hit for 8k backstabs, or confusion burned in 5 seconds.
I have not run minions ever in wvw, and if i see someone running minions i would advise them against it. maybe its ok for 1 v 1s, but in a group fight, the aoe alone will destroy them in 2 seconds and the damage they do, if they MANAGE to attack is paultry, and then your stuck without 3 utility skills.
Bhawb, the fact that you have to do your above rotation to even get mobs to attack, is completely inane. they should all attack my target immediately on the first attack. Thus i drop a well, they attack. simple. the yellow mobs do it… i drop a well, and they attack me. i use any skill, the mob turns red and attacks. Seems to me the same mechanic could apply to the minions. I press any button and damage an opponent, they attack my target.

Really like the ideas you have all laid out here. I agree, that our class has mobility/disengagement issues, but unforuntately, here is why anet will do NOTHING to increase our skills as we have suggested above.
This game is balanced around 5 v 5 spvp. What does that mean? It means ikittenv5 situation, in their pitiful small pvp maps where people are FORCED into confrontation over points (you have to engage to take/keep the point) the necro has a slight advantage, because we can drop good aoe/light cc in the kill zone (as they referred to it in the state of the game vid, and it works well in spvp because people HAVE to get into your kill zone). Who cares if the class disengages, you cap/keep the point. The mobility/disengagement issues are not evident in spvp, which is why you will see spvp’r say that our class is perfectly fine. IT is, in spvp (5v5). It is a great class and they chose to balance the classes around it, vice the WvW. If you want my honest opinion, they will lose players hands down if they continue with that mentality when ESO and camelot unchained come out and true RvR (which keeps players longtime) comes out.
If WvW (RvR) mobility and stability are the kings (two things the necro has limted to no access to). A class like the mesmer, with HIGH burst, Stealth, and HUGE amounts of low cooldown evade skills, will rule. Classes with burst like the thief, come in handy as well, in small confrontations, and can get out with shadowstep/stealth. Disengaging in a WvW fight is important, if you get overwhelmed. Let’s face it, a necro, once it engages, it cannot disengage (unless you wasted a slot for the wurm). On the other side of the coin, if you want to disengage when fighting a necro its easy. Ele – RTL; Warrior- Greatsword 3, deselect target – greatsword 5, switch weapons – sword – 3; thief – shadowstep – invis (lets call it invis, because its not stealth, its invis), run away; etc. etc. Necro has none of these options to disengage..
With regard to stability, you either have to trait it, and i dont know many builds I like where I go 30 points into a trait line to get a skill that is mediocre. Well, you can also switch to lich form.. hmmm, HUGE target (LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME, IM A GLOWING kitten) with NO access to heal skills, and you can still get immobilized. Plague form… in a lage confrontation plague can make you tough, hard to hit, and can blind/slow the surround mob. it may allow you to get out of the front lines and retreat back a bit. not a bad option and likely the one MOST of us run in wvw for that reason. BUT, it slows you, and people can just move to range and hit you while you slowly try to run away.
It is clear, simly, evident, that the devs had NO idea what they were doing with necro when it comes to WvW, nor do they care. I am of the camp that says necro is perfectly fine in Spvp, but disadvantaged in wvw confrontations. Perhaps not in large scale because you have some survivability when the zergs clash you can likely stay alive enough to get out of the aoe-mid zone. But, you get rooted (without the consume condition/dodge combo) you are D.E.D dead. You get caught out in the middle by a few people, you’re done. you engage, more come, your done. you engage, people want out, simple, they run away.
But back to my point… anet does not care, nor will they add anything to help the necro in wvw, because it will reflect in spvp (where we are fine) and make everyone cry OP! Meanwhile they basically fawn all over their lovely op creation which they call the mesmer, and to which i refer to kitten the jumping evading kitten cannon of frustration.
our cast times are to kitten slow in this bouncy jumpy dodge focused game. you have to lead your target, and its too unforgiving to land a skill because a, it takes to long, b there is lag, and c, everyone and their mother is moving around like a mexican jumping bean. all our utility skills take forever to get off, scepter 2 and dagger 5 makes me want to beat the crap out of someone because i cant get them down before someone dodges 1000 times before the skill goes off, because it takes so kitten log to cast. our long cast times make us so targetable, and prone to being interrupted, or rag dolled aroud by CC. So basically, axe 2, 3, dagger 2,5, scepter 2, focus5 are all interrupted a bit, plus the fact that now when we cast our long cast time utility skills, epidemic, people can just get out of range before the kitten spell goes off.
wake up anet
I just don’t think the devs play their own game, or that any dev has an idea as to what the necro can and can’t do. It is like they just threw some stuff together and scaled back anything that gave us an edge. If you want us to be an attrition class, speed up our cast times, and decrease our kitten cooldowns, give us some way to keep our conditions on or more resistant to instant click wipe offs, and for the love of god, allow us to have some improvements in our trait configurations. For example, ground targeting wells… i have to go into a curses to get that in a power build where i actually use wells. They need to change what abilities go with what trait lines as well, or you make our builds more gear dependent than trait dependent. Basically, for a necro, your entirely gear dependent, instead of trait dependent to get the skill/abilities you need for a specific build. God, i just felt that the devs were really sardonic in their state of the game address… you can tell they love their mesmers though. jesus
(edited by Gryph.8237)
I am sorry, but do these devs PLAY THEIR OWN GAME? build diversity? ok, so we have practically 2 builds that are based around dagger and wells, and a condition build. the rest are bull kitten. Who the F are these guys? I cannot believe they had the audacity to talk about minions that stand there and take a kitten while im fighting, and essentially limiting me to autoattack and skills 2-5. Don’t agree with anything they are saying. Attrition class? WHAT CLASS CANT GET AWAY FROM US? Lol, they are a joke in my head…. no one sticks around …. and what f-ing kill zone are they talking about? you mean if the opposing player sits in my wells and laugh/dodges away? is that what they are talking about?
Oh yeah, i can add crippled, but every class has so many variations to remove our condition based CC. Joke.
lol bytes, i was thinking the same thing. yeah, i usually change settings in my router/firewall/etc just to see if I can F up my playign experience. Always nice to see if I can mess it up even more than the login server can.
Thank god this login server does not go down that often.
i dont think anet really reads the forums that much. Well, the forum mods do, to ensure they censure your posts and change it or delete it to make sure nothing negative gets traction. Sorta like the press in certain countries. That said, we can see how long this thread gets before someone does realize they have an issue
someone wake up the devs on twitter. maybe they can reboot the server again. Not very professional
Well, in my opinion, balacing off sPvP will cost anet their population after awhile when games with true RvR (WvW) come into effect. I cannot be the only one to have purchased gw2 because of the chance to fight against people in open world conquest of castles, towers, and other wvw type activities. If I wanted a decently created esport tournament game i would have stayed in LoL and DoTA 2. Anet seems to think that the smaller pvp portion (spvp, tpvp) was more important than WvW, which has incredible potential, if they cared. Imo they will keep people playing this game longer if they focused more on WvW, and balanced their classes on that scale, rather than the smaller 1 on 1, 5 v 5, etc. scale.
During beta and after release, the necromancer community pointed out several major issues with the class that effectived quality of play. For example, we complained that we lose our minions if we transform (lich, plague) or we get moa’d (and we lose our flesh golem is we go into the water).
After aknowledging the issue and the fact that it was not working as intended, the devs just actually changed the tooltip to express the fact that minions will despawn if transformed and called it fixed.
Condition damage is just another example of LAZY programming. A company, making a ton of money off this game, and continuing to do so with the gem store (you’re crazy if you don’t think they are not making a lot of money) should offer its community more in the form of balancing issues and fixes.
I am speaking from a necromancer’s perspective: Condition damage is heavily gimped (imo) because a) you’re limited in pve group settings with this kitten cap, and b) the amount of condition removal in the pvp portion of the game is too kitten plentiful. So not only can people erase my damage with an easy click (some classes have 4 ways to do it), its limited in its damage to begin with.
And people wonder why warriors, thieves, burst/shatter mesmers, and d/d elementalists are the most seen classes in pvp, with bunker guardians added in. They are gimping their own game, and the idea of multiple build types for the “lower played classes” is a facade.
necros have a huge tendency to get focused because they cannot get away. Necros have two options when focused… one pop DS and hope it can absorb the initial impact as you get cc banged all over the place (unless you build 30 into SR and get stability). The secon d option is slip into plague form and hope you can survive the onslaught. Once targeted and in combat, your stuck in combat (you’re not going anywhere).
SO, in small group combat, this is ok, because you can survive it (more so in a power/toughness/vit build). However, start increasing numbers and your screwed. You dont have the mobility, escapes or invulnerabilities that other classes do that allow you to really survive a focused attack. Your fear, even when traited is max 2 something seconds (2 ticks), and unless its staff 5, its not aoe. Even staff 5 is limted to 5 enemies, granted they are not stabilitied or invulernable to conditions.
These are severly limiting factors. If you’re ignored in fight, you will feel powerful as you just burn people down with conditions. If you go power build, you’re awesome in 1v1 fights, but i find less effective in group fights, unless your well bombing (which can work well, if the enemy stands in the area for 5 pulses; or you bottleneck them and make it hard for them to get away).
On a necro you will really do well in small group combat. In large group combat, as long as you can predict the eb and flow of the zerg to zerg fight and stay in the back, you can apply some conditions, though i doubt you’ll get above 7 or so, because they will fall back and you want to apply epidemic (which can be effective). Power builds like to say that you can use staff effectively, but i find that the damage from staffs are not that great actually. I think a normal rotation, with crits, you might see staff 2 – 1k, staff 3 – 1k, staff 4 2-3k, staff 5 – 500. not bad, but really we are only talking 5.5k IF you hit all 5 marks on a target, and your not doing it often.
The other thing that i find really limited in wvw, especially in large scale fights, are the slow kitten casting speeds. it is too slow. there is no other class that moves slower and has slower casting speeds. I CANNOT support, nor can I fathom the reasoning behind gimping us so much with slow casting speeds. why? the dont do more damage than other classes, and if you are applying conditions, you’re not hitting them hard, and they are likely going to be removed.
I am not asking for a compelte overhaul but I would REALLy like to see them speed up our casting times, and increase the damage out conditions do when initially applied, given that they are so easily removed.
Condition removal and increasing our power builds was a focus of the DEVs right after release, and nothing was ever done.
Sorry, I don’t think ANET follows through on its promises with regard with what they are focusing on.
I do not think we are weak, i just think we are too gimped and too situational at times.
well, i hope we have a lot of power builds, because if 2 people are running a decent condition build, that accounts for 25 bleeds stacks, and then your basically just trying to damage the mob with a scepter. hahah.
so, 2-3 condition necros, and the rest power builds when killing boss mobs. That would be ok. especially if you have 2-3 bleed necros, 2-3 vulnerability necros, and the rest power necros with minions.
In my honest opinion, and even though I play this class the most, I still think they need to really address some issues with the class, and really think hard about how our traits are lined up, why we scale so terribly with power, and why did they give us a condition that everyone else has to damage mobs/players (BLEEDS). Let alone, even traited, runed, etc., you’re not getting a 4 second fear (even though the thief can obtain a 4 seconds AOE fear). And why are we so out of shape that we move slow, and have no way to get the F out if the situation calls for it. I mean, in beta we had a cool DS #2 skill that was basically like a shadow step/chill area effect. WTF, were we that op that we can’t have something that fits the attrition class? Heck, we are so kitten slow, that if you switch to DS fire off #2 the dude is usually out of range. Or there is a pebble in the way that ruins our line of sight and the spell fails. SWEET.
(edited by Gryph.8237)
I play the necro class the most in WvW and i have two builds i bounce between. Basically the juggermancer and the conditionmancer (alt between fearmancer and a 0/30/20/20/0 build. I actually think the necro is decent in spvp, and ok in wvw. That said, we suffer from some serious problems in the meta of wvw which boils down to slow movement, 0 “realistic” escape mechansims, and SLOW CASTING TIMES.
It really leaves me to question what the devs where thinking when they said, yeah, lets make the attrition class, slow at speed and casting, make them hit like a wet paper bag, but let them have really good conditions, that will be what? easily cleaned by any class.
1. You cannot pin anyone down, because everyone and their mother has 2-4 ways to remove conditions, and what, oh yeah, cripple, chill, fear, are conditions and easily wiped off. So once again, devs have 0 idea what an attrition class means. I mean, sure, if the guy forgets to press his heal button or use one of his numerous condition removeal skills, then he will wear down. To add to the matter, if the enemy is trying to get away, we are the slowest class so catching up is difficult as heck. On the flip side, we have absolutely 0 escapes, so when our conditions get so easily removed, we are fat, slow AND they are running away… laughing. With regard to getting away, fat chance. You may say, but we have DS. Well whooopiedooooo i cant even see what conditions are on me, and even if i could, i cant do crap about it. other than switch back, try to get a heal off, get puppted around because we have 1 stability (that is used in no decent builds) and die. Or hay, lets try plague form or even the huge kitten cousin, fat kitten lich form. neither one allows us the ability to heal ourselves, or even see if our skills are off cooldowns, so basically you get double hammered, take away your skills, take away your heals, and guess what, your speed is slow as a fat kid at recess. 0 escapes, and our ability to keep them near us is boned. I am all about skill classes, but the nerco has absolutely 0 tolerance for missing a spell. Miss that cripple (because everything you do is easily avoided), and your boneslapped, or the enemy is gone.
2. This is the only class that actually gimps itself to use some of our best utiility skills. Thanks a lot. So, i want to kick up my pwer/condition damage, i bleed myself. Not so bad, because im usually running dagger offhand so i just kick that off, or hit staff 4 and hope an enemy steps into it, while im in the circle. Not really mad about that, but still, im gimping myself, 3.5k damage if i dont get it off. Epidemic – sweet, im making myself vulnerable, ill do it, and take the pain, since i just punched 5 people in the mouth if i did it right… oh wait, whats that, im out of range, it did not work, but im still F-ed and am vulnerable (or my personal favorite, stack 15 bleeds, hit epidemic and BAM it goes nowhere, because your dude fell down and ALL your conditions were erased when he went into downed form. SWEET). Ok, corrupt boon – i poison myself to use a utility to corrupt boons on an enemy (single target) and turn them into conditions, that are usually cleaned in once easily click of the button, or an elementalist/guardian cleaning everything every 6-10 seconds (let alone healing for 15k every 10 seconds.)
So WTF are they thinking. Do I think the necro is weak. No, Not entirely. I think it is a decent spvp class, albeit very very unforgiving. If you land everything accounting for lag, the dodge, leading for the slow cast times (my god it has to be the slowest in the game) you will do alright. BUT, if you miss one thing, you miss a rotation (yeah, we have good rotations and in pve, im a god), you’re out of luck because all of your skills are on huge cooldowns and your fiddle yourself in the corner hoping no one sees you, because you know you’re not running away heh.
I have played the necro since day one, i have tried most builds and have settled on 2 good builds. I still think our damage is higher with condition builds in pve (well, solo pvp, because if multiple people are running builds, your 15-20 bleeds stacks (thank anet for the one and only condition we have that does damage, along with 5 other classes) do NOTHING. In that case, you’re better off goign with a power build using axe so you keep 20 stacks of vuln on the mob and he goes down fast with your team wacking him.
In wvw, i bounce between the juggermancer and the conditionmancer. Juggermancer is great for roaming and 1 v 1 fights, but i find that in a zerg, your not doing much other than occasionally wellbombing (which is ok) and spamming staff, which scales HORRIBLY with power. Better off building crit damage, because with power your only hoping for staff 4 to get around 2-2.5k, which sucks. You can do some great damage, if 5 people stand in your well, for the full duration, but that rarely happens.

I am actually finding conditionmancer much more powerful with regards to damage than the powermancer. Well, at least, with regards to fighting zergs. One on one, I find that the power/juggermancer is great and I have a lot of fun on rovers. However, when it comes to front line fighting, where there is give and take, and you can get some overaggressive warrior and slam 15+ bleeds/poison on him, hit epidemic, you will find that people do melt faster than you would think (unless a guardian is present etc.)
I dont know, I just feel powermancer is missing some things and I am very dissappointed with out weapons as a powermancer. I always end up feeling like a dagger thief with wells and DS. I still want range, and axe just does not cut it. Axe gives me a headache with its low damage.

WvW has just lost me… the amount of stealth classes is just overwhelming. The rendering issues just gives them too much advantage. I don’t even know how to keep motivated to play this game anymore. I play alts, i try diff builds, but the game’s WvW mechanic is utterly ruined by the stealth/rendering aspect. I am not even talking about thieves, but i have seen one party of 5 thieves take down too many people given their advantage… of being completely untargetable. Then you take a high burst class like the memser and give them the same stealth/teleport abilities.
I refuse to jump on the bandwagon and play these two classes. The other most prevalent class is the bunker elementalist, you dont even see any other forms of that class, its just 2 daggers of escapability, cc, stun and amazing escapability.
I can’t get motivated to bring diversity to a game where the Devs seem to love three classes and kitten the rest. I can’t be the only one who is tired of game mechanics being used to break good strategy. forget it. Who gives a crap. Im just whining, and all the fanboys will just come in and flame how amazing it is, likely playing a thief, mesmer or bunker ele.
Have fun, im waiting for better. I play for WvW, but there is no reason to even play WvW. IT effects nothing, and this game is based on spvp (uh, ok, that’s REALLY boring, and repetative) or pve, which is mindnumbing after you do a dungeon once. I dont know why I even get onto wvw, you take a castle, 10 seconds later, another team takes the castle, and it just becomes a cyclical roaming zerg.

I would stab my necro in the eye if they give him a spear. A spear, jesus, why not just give us a stupid 2handed sword, and we can call ourselves anti-guardians, or anti-paladins in cloth armor.
Come up with a unique weapon. I hate the spear actually, because it will encourage more idiots to run around and shout this is sparta. sweet, as if we did not see that enough times in every other mmo.
How about a short handed scythe, or sickel. That would be more necromancer like, and the curved scythe like attack would mimick the curved blade at the end of a mini scythe or sickel.
also, with regard to the previous reference to trait specific removals:
Traits:
Spite: III – Spiteful Removal - When you kill a foe you lose three conditions – you gimp yourself if you have this traited in my opinion. Great for pve, crap for pvp.
Death Magic: VI – Shrouded Removal – Lose a condition when you enter death shroud. Ok, fine, but much better things to pick, with regard to staff mastery and undodgeable marks, or reapers protection.
Blood Magic: XI – Fetid Consumption – Minions draw conditions. Each minion can draw one condition every 10 seconds. Yeah, ok, you run with this in blood magic, and your using minions? Wow, must be good for pve, and again, crap for pvp.
Most classes would kill you more effectively if you have chosen HALF of those options.
What REALLY chaps my hide is the fact that some of our mediocre moves damages us in the process. Seriously, why is it that the necro, as a class that can place conditions on other classes at a rate no more special than other classes, have to damge ourselves to do it at a decent rate (Bip, Epidemic, etc.), and only have a few ways to remove conditions. In my opinion they gave the other classes WAY to many ways to remove them. In fact, if you want to know, people have had potions that shrink themselves and make them invulnerable to damage, which erases the conditions you had on them, so not only can they use class skills to remove conditions, they can use the invulnerability potion to prevent new ones from being placed on them for a few seconds. THANKS ANET for that great thing in WvW.
II love condition builds, but there are entirely to many ways to remove them, which makes us seek out power builds, which are decent imo, at engage and killing a single target, but loose the ability to do mass damage to other targets. In addition, our kitten conditions are not special, and are achievable by practically all the other classes.
If they want to improve necros, give us ways to make our conditions really tough. more damage, or more resistance to removal. And stop letting people use invulnerability potions, or whatever, in wvw. so weak.

convince you? nah, try it yourself and develop your own likes and dislikes. If you have at least one level 80, and play WvW, you know what a necro is like to fight against, and likely you have fought serveral different types. If not, you don’t play WvW or pvp.
Form your own opinion.
ANET – when im running forward firing, I am ALMOST equal speed with my projectiles. Is that not slightly stupid? What kind of design is that. COME ON. And now that everyone in a zerg fight stacks in one giant mix of idiots, the randomness, that seems to be so much of ANET’s design on AOE skills, I can’t target a person and consistently hit them, instead i hit random chars. Sweet. Why not weaken us further
I can’t stand it anymore. I just can’t stand it. I can’t hit crap with the projectiles from lich form and staff. It is just making me want to pull my hair out. I feel as if anyone is moving laterally these two projectiles don’t freakin hit unless I am right on top of them. Also, did they mega nerf the range of Lich form #1 projectile? My god, not only is it slow as kitten, it hardly goes the distance. I feel like im constantly repositioning myself to make sure they are coming straight at me or straight away from me, or they dont hit.
Staff 1 and lich 1 REALLY could do with a speed buff. I want to use these skills. I feel like raging haha.
This is one of the most situationally specific skills we have. the enemy has to be at the right angle, the right distance, and not moving laterally from your position. Basically, just standing still. Useful for pulling people off keep walls, when their feet are already hanging off. Other than that, it is crap, along with a lot of our utility skills. If your a power build, you have wells, and maybe one spec skill up; if your condition, you have the same 3 utility skills loaded, guaranteed. Anet has essentially created 2 builds for us, with a lot of useless utility skills, which has thus limited us to specific ones.
1. Rendering issues with perma stealth, untargetable thieves.
2. Rendering issues with no risk, easy get away mesmers, that can do more damage than most classes in a short period of time without having any weaknesses. you can simply use the 3-4 skills you have to escape unharmed.
3. Balancing is thrown off by the first two issues hugely. You essentially have 2 classes that can solo 4-5 chars without any risk of being killed because they can either stealth and get away long enough for their health to come back to full, or they can issue so much damage in a short period of time and then lapse into an instant escape.
so no risk classes, with rendering issues destroys balance and makes it ridiculous to play. No wonder i see so many thieves and mesmers in wvw… its ridiculous.
patch arrives, nothing changes, i stay logged off. yay for me, more time to do more interesting things.
