I’m sorry to say, but if you like to learn on the fly you’re making it yourself a whole lot harder.

I’m still gonna suggest to get a nice build somewhere, read what the rotation is for the skills and then watch the build in a few plays.

I’m not gonna be the one to teach you if you don’t want to put in some effort yourself – After you’ve read up and got the basics, I’m more then willing to help you in a few games.

I actually agree to removing the rank, when you’re in PvP it doesn’t show the rank either.

You can still have it visible for your own team, but there’s no need for the enemy team to know what rank you are

- I don’t know, but PvP does reward “Tomes of Knowledge” which give 1 level per 1. They drop quite frequently.

[WTNF] is a dedicated PvE guild which doesn’t require you to switch server, as we take in players from all servers. Only downside to that is: We don’t do organised WvW.

We also do quite a bit of PvP, and are trying (not very succesfull :P) to get a team going ^^

Actually, trash talking and bad mouthing are reactions of players who aren’t able to control their own temper. That players get irritated by playing a game is on their side, not on the player who causes the irritating (assuming we’re talking about players who just play for fun, not to be irritating on purpose.

You don’t have to accept anything, and it’s rather annoying that it causes bad impressions at players who play for fun.

You’re basicly saying: Because there’s a game, this behavior is to be expected and you should just say: Thank you and move on.

I’m a PvE player who’s playing a lot of PvP lately, and it seems that builds are actually a problem for those new to PvP.

While you can get away with your “play how you want” build in PvE, you’re most likely to get squished in PvP if you use the exact same.

So it can be quite the dramatic change in gameplay, also players that aren’t fast or need a bit longer won’t find those seconds in PvP because they’re already dead most likely :P

How to promote PvP?
Check Metabattle.com and search for a build that uses weapons / skills you like, then start using that. Another great thing is group up with your friends / guildies and play for fun!

Don’t play hotjoin, don’t play ranked. Play unranked!
Why? Hotjoin can be a big miss at times, unranked gives you everything a ranked game does but in a more safe learning environment.

Research some stuff on your build / PvP – ask the forums if you have a specific question.
I’ve found the more you learn and are able to use that information in-game, the more fun it’ll become

If you’re losing you can always group up as one big ball and kill everyone 5-1 or 5-2 :P

A guardian’s only ranged option is scepter. Scepter is not very useful at all.

Actually, from what I’ve understand is that the guardian scepter auto attack has the best base DPS for single target.

Also Scepter #2 was supposed to be in the top tier dps for enemies with Large hit boxes.

He mostly dropped the sanctuary on me when I was there, I wouldn’t go searching for it if I were you…

That’s the most awesome finisher, and let me tell you why.

It starts with a big sword dropping from the sky into the corpse.
Then a shield appears with my guilds logo.
After that, two more swords get stuck into the shield.

This reminds me so much of GW1 Hardmode.
Where if you completed a map you’d get a symbol of a helmet, with 2 swords stuck in it.

If you’ve got an nVidia card I’d suggest ShadowPlay.
It’s VERY fps friendly (takes 1-3 fps on recording) and is possible up to 1080p 60fps.

In-game I use nvidia recommended settings, mostly everything high-very high (GTX770)

Everyone you’ve spoken to seems not to be near the people I speak with, I actually talk to a lot of people who’ve decided to come back and have a look on GW2.

Most stay, others just leave if they noticed there’s no precursor crafting
(If you gonna define a game by one or two things that’s missing, than those 2 things won’t change your QOL)

Regarding losing players to Wildstar, I actually remember a group of Wildstar players moving to GW2 as they were dissapointed by that game. (Coin, two sides thingy)

Why do you speculate how HoT will turn out, it’s a week from now…

After that you can decide not to buy/download/collect the HoT update/expansion

I’d say it would cause players to change their games, caring more for their reward track towards the title then the game.

They could for example:
AFK 100 games, that’s not very pretty.

For the 100 win-streak, I think the community would not be very nice to “lesser-experienced” players if they have 90+ streak and they claim some new player to be the problem that they lost

Play the Meta and run as how those groups expect from you, otherwise stick to solo content and don’t bother anyone…

I do agree that groups tend to go like that, but rather then giving someone the advice of running the meta I’m gonna give him the following advise:

Create your own group, and put in the LFG description: Everyone welcome!
This will get you players that play like they want to play, but often also very helpfull (meta) players who enjoy teaching dungeons to new people or helping others.

What are you running as build, from that players can actually give you decent advise to counter warriors to the best possible.

How can adding to an amazing world like Tyria ever conceivably be considered a bad thing? Please make it possible to see which “Choices” you’ve already played with your characters.
To prevent you from doing the same choice twice, or to pick the same one if you found it awesome.

I’ve had too many times that I forgot the choices I made months ago, and had to play the same choice again. Which actually wasn’t fun when I preferred to do a different one.

Maybe make the options you’ve chosen before Greyed out? or some other notification…

So let’s say an expansion comes out. The version I want. 1 or 2 new races a new heavy armor class, level cap increased to 100 with new armors. New weapons. Options for more then the same 5 skills, a huge new map size of gw2 at release with a great story again.

Raising level cap is pointless in GW2, even if you’re going to “grind” those levels it’ll only take you a week at max.

Besides they’re handing out Tomes of Knowledge, so most players can just click 20x till they’re level 100…

I’m really curious why you find raising level being worth it, as they won’t give armor progression and probably just raise all armors to 100 without any trouble…

Also:
Check your skill points, most likely that at least 25% of that are given by “leveling up” after 80… So probably you’ve leveled to 200 already if that was possible…

What is the build you are running?
Maybe your build excels at other things then engi’s?

I think it’s not very usefull to you to give blind support on how to take on engi’s, as some things might be tips / tricks your build doesn’t even have.

Also: Don’t change your build for one specific class, cause with the next build you might be strong against engi’s but weak against thiefs.

I don’t like the fractal boxes, I bought them because they were cheap but I’ve removed mine and bought normal ones.

The fractal boxes do not “Compact”, which caused a lot of mess in my inventory. Also combined with other type of boxes my items tend to go into other bags before then into “special fractal bags”.

I wished when compact it would move all items up, and putting the “special bag items” in their bags. but it doesn’t

Finishing a player is a “short-cut”basicly, you can kill players by just keeping dps pressure on them but that will most likely take longer than a finisher.

However some classes are highly annoying to finish, thief for example is great in stealthing out of your finishers.

Just a random question totally off-topic.

So does this armor make you glow / light up in total darkness? (obsidian sanctum dark, LA JP dark) Does it make it visible where to stand/jump ?

My guardian is my main character, played over 5k hours of which 4700 hours on my guardian.

in PvE I run with Soldiers armor / berserker trinkets and berserker weapons.

When in dungeons I go into full zerker armor

I run that build, but change the skills to whatever I want at that time.
Mostly I run with:
Healing Breeze
Retreat
Smite Condition
Save Yourselves
Renewed Focus

I’ve got no problems staying alive

p.s.
Guardian on zerker is most likely on of the squishiest classes out there, as we’ve got very little health pool :’(

When The Night Falls [WTNF] is an Dedicated PvE Guild with players also doing PvP, only a few do WvW.
Players tend to do dungeons, mostly with a guild group if they can find enough players.
It’s very casual friendly, we don’t have any meta only groups and just like to have fun doing the stuff we like to do :P

We aren’t on Underworld, but all the activities you describe are PvE, which is currently in Megaserver. So server won’t matter for you / us.

Server only matters for your WvW, which we don’t do as a guild anyway.

I agree with this, but at marionette it was easily countered when the commanders per lane would work together.

Eventually the more map focused players would ask in map chat where their help was needed, so I’d say this is just a matter of time before players start going to the right spot.

I’ve got no clue how many numbers are needed @ vine, but once that number is reached commander of that lane simply put: Lane “kitten ” Full, plz join Mid/Top

At which MID/TOP can respond with (examples <3)
10/15 MID, need more
TOP full, Join MID.

Also whispering people to move lane seemed usefull.

While Alternate is 1314,- without assembly.

That’s why my list is more expensive. (also better performance / quality according to HW.info)

That tweakers list is nice, but their pricing isn’t representative.
They take the lowest pricing (without shipping costs) for their calculation, while if you check the “total” prices, you’ll get different numbers. (Add €5-10 per item to get a more accurate pricelist)

Also, as OP says he’s not able / unwilling to build himself this system won’t work either as there are parts that aren’t for sale at every company (means buying separate and assembling himself, is a no-go)

I love how players talking for themselves always somehow have the idea that their idea’s are supported by “Everyone”
