how often can you reset traits ?

Each of the 3 books can only be used once per character at or above their appropriate levels. There is however a Respec option that the same NPC sells for @ 3.5s at level 80 which isn’t expensive and can be done as often as you can afford it.

Thanks.

Just checked out the armor styles and Vigil,in my opinion, looks the best out of all three.

However for the build I’m going for the Order Of Whispers has the closest stats.

Actaully they do have different stats.

Vigil = toughness vitality and power.

Whispers = precision toughness condition damage.

Priory = vitality precision healing power.

Either way though, I’d go something different as you’ll have the flags on your character selection screen light up for have each of the 3.

I love to play against the stereotypes with I pick my secret societies. However I do also get influenced by the racial NPCs in my personal story missions. For example, I absolutely love the asuran Whispers agent and generally like the human Whispers agent. Yet I thought that the charr Whispers agent was a complete tool and I would never want to be part of an organization that used someone like him as a primary recruiter.

I believe that every secret society gear piece has the same +stat combinations, as mentioned above. You just get a different appearance graphic.

I’ve got an asura Warrior in the Priory. That’s one of my more unusual combinations. Perhaps the asuran Engineer in the Whispers too. Otherwise the rest of mine kind of fit the expected stereotypes. Each is kind of fun in its own way.

On a side note, the starting Whispers contact is still my favorite secret society NPC in the game. Even the insane party girl who is your Priory contact is kind of interesting. I just could never get into liking my Vigil contact.

Oh Okay cool.I’ll go with the Priory as well.

I had no idea the armor set’s all had the same stats and just had different appearances.

Thanks for the feedback.

I went with the Vigil during story mode with my Guardian because of the Vigil armor and they seemed to be the best order to go with being that I was playing Guardian.

With that said I am now working on a Warrior and was wondering if I should go that route again or could I go with the Order Of Whispers or the Priory ?

I’m trying A power precision condition damage build this time around since I’ve already done a vitality toughness and power build with the Guardian.

Does the Priory or Order Of Whispers have power condition damage and precision stats for their heavy armor sets assuming they carry heavy armor ?

Or should I stay with the Vigil being that I’m playing the Warrior profession this time around ?

Seems like the Priory would be the choice for casters and the Order Of Whispers for Thieves and adventurers but if I could go a different route and still gain good armor that would be nice.

I’ve run into 2 events thus far,one being the shatterer and the other, the one that goes down in the swamp ( forgot the name ).

How do you know when these events will occur ? I simply see large groups of people gathered and stand with them until the event begins if I’m lucky enough to be in the area at the time lol.

It would be nice to know when when these events happen so I can be present.

GuildWarsPlayer.5608

Sell level 80 blue and green armours and weapons to a vendor, no one is going to buy them on the trading post because there’s such a massive supply from people doing Dungeons that they’re all but worthless.

Sell everything else on the trading post. Make sure to set the price to the lowest Seller, not the highest bidder. You’ll have to wait a little bit for the money but you’ll nearly always sell and you get an awful lot more this way.

There’s probably a few exceptions to this rule but I can’t think of any off the top of my head.

Thank you for this information because I was doing quite the opposite.

I totally agree. I had a lvl 80 Hunter which is fun too because you sort of have a companion, but other players hate your guts. Tried a Warrior but got bored with him (press 1,2,3 repeat), tried an Elementalist but could not remember the bazillion combos and always got killed. So I rolled a Guardian… wow… easily tank mobs 2 or 3 levels higher and 2 or 3 at a time, much better chances in boss fights, great healing abilities, good support for allies, so yeah definately a keeper. :-)

I did the exact same thing.I leveled a warrior to 80 and got bored with him.Tried to level an elementalist and kept getting killed trying to solo which brought me to the guardian.Haven’t looked back since.

Don’t get me wrong, elementalist and warrior are good professions but in my opinion, guardian shines above both.

GuildWarsPlayer.5608

I’ve pretty much tried every profession and out of them all Guardian is my favorite.

I’ve deleted all my other characters since I’m dedicating all my play time on one
profession. There is just too much content in mmo’s to jump from one character to the next if you’re looking to max a character out ( assuming that is even possible )

I like to solo and from what I’ve experienced soloing up to 80,Guardian ( In my opinion ) reigns supreme.

Anyone else feel this way ?

Also if this thread is considered trolling, apologies,I just really dig this profession and looking for some feedback.

Which class to play?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: GuildWarsPlayer.5608

GuildWarsPlayer.5608

I start off slow sticking with a profession or class when playing mmo’s because I try them all before making a final decision.

From what I’ve experienced after trying all the professions is … they all are good.

Now I know for a fact, when soloing,Guardian is a great profession and the one I finally decided to stick with.

My advice would be to try them all out at least to level 30 then make a decision or simply fill all 5 character slots with different professions and go that route or look up each profession and read on the feedback and go that route.

I highly recommend the Guardian.

I play a shatter mes with 20/20/0/0/30 which is a pretty classic trait setup for mesmers, weapons are gs and sw/sw at low levels you may have some difficulty since you don’t have traits that buff shatters and you don’t spawn a clone on dodge but hang in there till around lvl 30-40 and it’s worth it. basic strategy is to summon 3 illusions let the phantasms attack once and then mind wrack for big damage. Sword num2 gives you invulnerability and does good dmg and offhand sword 4 is a block and clone summon. Hope you enjoy mesmer =)

Thanks.

I’ve pretty much tried every profession and I’ve narrowed my favorites down to Guardian Warrior and Mesmer.

Between Guardian and Warrior I settled on the Guardian as A main which leaves me with an alt decision.

I figured since the Guardian and Warrior both use heavy armor it would be pointless to make both at this time and I like to solo so having more than two characters at this time would seem a bit extreme.

So with that said I figured to settle on a Mesmer as an alt when I want to switch things up.

Now the Guardian is a darn good profession for soloing which brings me to the question of " What would be a good build for soloing a Mesmer since they use light armor ? "

Any suggestions on what traits would be good for soloing a Mesmer or does it matter ?

I’m usually at 84 fps with a SamSung i7-3635QM processor gaming laptop and was told by a computer tech who builds pc’s that I was way over the system requirements for this game.So with that said,I’ve noticed that during certain events I lag big time.I noticed the lag during an event that went down in a swamp ( The Godslost Swamp to be exact ).After the event finished no one got anything. This same thing happened during the Shatterer event ( The one with the dragon if I pronounced the event wrong )

Now I figured if it was on my end, such as the video card and cpu speed, things would constantly lag.

For me,I never lag and things run real smooth until one of these events where large numbers of players gather.Could this be a server problem ?

GuildWarsPlayer.5608

i hope you guys do realize, that there’s a huge difference between lags and low framerates

fast&easy method to explain this:

lag – nothing to do with your system specs. caused by connectivity issues, such as your ISP trolling you, too much usage of your broadband connection, other programs connecting to the internet, firewall is trolling you, etc.

low FPS – caused by your hardware being too old, bottlenecking computercomponents, bad game engines, your PC is too busy with other/many programs in the background while playing, etc.

People are saying this only occurs during certain events like the Shatterer.

For me I run smooth until the event actually begins.I can stand around all the players grouped up and no lag. While waiting on an event to start ( The one in the swamp, not sure of the name I’m still a noob ) we ran around the swamp killing stuff just to pass the time.No lag what so ever.As soon as the event started,Big time lag.Couldn’t that be a server issue ?

I used to play DC Universe and I remember things lagging after an update or patch. It was on their end and they would address it and fix it.

Don’t get me wrong,I’m not complaining, just wondering what’s causing the lag.

Lag as in network lag or graphical lag?

Network lag can be due to your connection via the ISP, or the server’s connection unable to handle the # of connections or hardware being loaded.

BTW, 30Mbps is not a speed metric, it is capacity/bandwidth, and is nothing to do with lag. (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/694) Now ping/latency is what speed is about and important to network lag.

Graphical lag would be too much stuff occurring for your hardware to maintain decent FPS.

We have so few weapons that you should just try them all out and see what you like. You should definitely keep a staff with you at all times, to switch to before doing large events, but if you like to run something else, go for it. I personally love D/D. It’s melee range, but the defense is much more active than a warrior or guard, so it’s a lot more engaging.

Appreciate that double dagger info.I’ve been staying away from them because I thought it would be better to range enemies with the staff since elementalist wear light armor.I didn’t know double daggers provided defense.
