Just started happening to me this morning in Queensdale. 7/20/13 around 11:00 A.M. eastern. I did update my graphics card driver so maybe that has something to do with it. Been working perfect to recently.
This is not a complaint just a question. I know how it goes in the world of mmo’s.
Thanks for any replies.
I’m getting random disconnects, just started today 7/20/13
You’d have to spec to be relatively defensive or be really really good at avoiding getting hit if you want to go glass. Some things in Orr hit really hard. I’ve never tried it with staff myself, but I can solo most of the champion monsters that wander around, like that golem thing relatively easy with D/D. it should be possible though. AI isn’t that bright so as long as you avoid getting hit with any of the really bad stuff, you should be fine. I’m actually tempted to try it now with staff to see if I can take out that golem or maybe the risen giant champion. I’d imagine the giant would be easy with staff since you wont need to get close to all of his grub throwing crap and can just nuke him from a distance.
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. If I spec to at least 20 with vitality, health, and toughness along with gear that has toughness, power and condition damage, I should do pretty good soloing with staff.
I’m looking for a challenge and don’t mine dying. That’s the fun of a game in my opinion.
Thanks for the reply.
Have any of you soloed Orr with Staff ? All of my other classes are 80 now so I’m jumping back on my Elementalist. From what I’ve been told Elementalist are very hard to level so this brings me to the Orr question.
Just wondering what to expect. I like Staff and would like it to be my main weapon for this class so if Orr can be soloed with it, that would be cool in my opinion. If not, what other weapon or weapons would you suggest to solo Orr with, if soloing Orr can even be done with this class.
Thanks for any replies and help.
Does the phantasm or illusion go on a full cooldown or a 3-second cooldown? If the former, I don’t know. If the latter, this happens when dodge rolling just before it goes off, which stops the cast and you need to wait 3 seconds before you can cast the summoning skill again.
Ahhhh Okay, thanks.
Sometimes when I summon a Phantasm or Illusion, my Mesmer will make the movement before summoning and the Phantasm or Illusion does not appear. Is this a glitch or am I doing something wrong ?
This is not a complaint just a question. Thanks.
I say the same thing every time I see this type of thread. Elves !
Oh yeah. I think I heavy armor class should come next since light and or medium both have 3.
Orcs or Ogres would be a nice race for heavy armor classes.

Only thing bad about gaming laptops is when it comes time to upgrade that graphics card.
I like the look of the Mesmers powers.
So, I normally wouldn’t recommend this, but my immortal build does perform nicely in solo pve, with the one warning that your kill speed will be very slow: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Guide-The-Immortal-Mesmer-Build/first
You will not be mowing things down rapidly in this build, but you will be extremely safe. You won’t ever come across something that really threatens to kill you, even in Orr.
That being said, it’s really not necessary. Most any strong build will do fine for open world, again, even in Orr.
Appreciate your link and great vids sir.
Thanks for all the feedback. Really helpful.
Depends if you count WvW map or not(part of map completion), cause it is impossible to solo keeps/SM, and pretty much waste of time to solo towers.
For PvE map, I either just beat my way there, or use staff with blink+decoy+viel+MI if it is too tough to solo.
Thank you for the reply. I am worried about Orr at the present moment.
Have any Mesmer’s out there get 100% map completion soloing ? Getting to 80 wasn’t a problem but I have yet to get 100% map completion on my own.
If so, care to share your build, skills, and weapon selection ?
Been reading a lot of negative threads on how disappointed people are with the game. Why those people continue to play is beyond me. How about the people who actually enjoy the game ?
I enjoy this game a lot. I’ve played other mmo’s and have yet to come across the mechanics of GW2.
1. I like the freedom of this game. you can go where you please with little to no restrictions. Whether you survive in certain area’s do to level is up to the player.
2. The game has truly grasped the free roam aspect.
3. The graphics are amazing.
4. The solo content is better than any other mmo I have played.
5. You don’t have to rely on others to survive and progress like you do in other mmo’s
6. The game is buy to play and doesn’t force you into a subscription to progress.
Just a few things I enjoy about this game. Any other comments on what you enjoy about the game ?
Human, Guardian, The Vigil.
Go with Both. Both of those professions are good. As far as choosing one, just flip a coin.
I have 3 level 80’s. Guardian, Warrior, Mesmer.
I don’t feel Mesmer is hard to level to 80 with the right build, weapon and armor selection.
I leveled my Mesmer fairly easy with Staff and Dual Swords. I put 20 on power, 10 on precision, 20 on toughness and 20 on health and vitality. From there I ran PVT on trinkets, PVT on armor and ppc ( power precision condition damage or crit ) on weapons with the major sigil of bloodlust. Also used Major sigils of the dolyak for extra survivability.
Running that lineup leveled me to 80 in no time with little to no deaths in the process. Now surviving on Orr ? welllllll, not sure about that yet, but I have seen Mesmers running around on Orr seemingly holding their own alone.
I don’t care for the Great Sword much. In wvw it’s a good weapon to keep handy, in my opinion, but I rarely if ever use it .
I actually recently hit something like this. It was a separatist catapult (possibly a trebuchet?) that absolutely tanked my FPS. The smoke cloud was much bigger / denser than normal and didn’t look like most of the others I had seen.
I noticed this specifically because I upgraded my graphics card recently, and previously smoke effects like blinding powder (curse you Order of Whispers!) would make me hit a small lag spike, but the upgrade had fixed that.
Edit: This was in the Oldgate Clearing section of Diessa Plateau though, iirc.
Yeah, come to think of it, I believe I experienced the same thing at that location. Its odd to me that the smoke would lag me when I get no lag what so ever with world events and wvw, which are much more demanding.
Thanks for the reply.
Didn’t post this on the bugs forum because I wasn’t sure if it was a bug or not, but not too long ago I noticed during a Queensdale minor event with the centaurs, when the catapult shot hits and creates smoke, I lag for some reason.
I’m way over the system requirements and this wasn’t happening before so I’m wondering if the reason for this unusual occurrence had to do with either a graphics card driver update or maybe a game update ?
Has anyone else experienced this ?
Something I ran across and thought I would share.
I have not found a guild that I really like so I level my character, explore, and do wvw on my own :P I enjoy it.
Same here. WvW is very solo friendly.
I play alone a majority of the time. Aside from the occasional dungeon and group content I am very rarely in a party.
One of the things that make me kind of enjoy GW2 more then most MMOs. Is I can still participate in group events and not have to form a party every time. I can just show up and participate and then leave. Works great for someone like me that isn’t too chatty in parties and such.
I have my own guild that has a handful of friends in it when they log in. But I usually prefer being without a guild. Just because the constant chatter in bigger guilds always distracts me. :P And sometimes I end up reading stuff I don’t care to hear about. Like Map chat is a majority of the time lol.
I too like how you can simply run into a group event and join in. I wish you could run into Dungeons and simply join in.
Being able to solo in an mmo is the reason I love this game so much. I quit playing DC Universe because you had to depend on your team mates ( And I use that term loosely ) to advance in the game. I can’t tell you how many times people would get into fights about how such and such wasn’t giving power or how such and such wasn’t healing, which would result in everything coming to a screeching halt.
In GW2, even when grouping, you still don’t have to depend on anyone to keep you alive.
Being able to solo keeps the game interesting and worth playing because when or if you fall out with the guild you’re in, you can go off on your own and still progress. I haven’t run into an mmo yet, other than GW2, that allows you to do this.
I don’t even bother with other mmo’s since playing GW2. In my opinion, no other mmo can compare right now.
A default button layout would be great for gamepads but at the moment, I am already adjusted to my new mouse with 6 extra buttons.
I’ve had some trouble with the config on my logitech wired gamepad in adjusting the camera view with one joystick not pressed down. BUT I was using this on Mac OS so the software might not have allowed it to assign that button combination.
I shall get the gamepad off my bro again and see what I can do on Windows, but I’ll need to download the software required instead of using the install disc.
Yeah, I too use a six button gaming mouse which I am very fond of. I pretty much assign my movement commands to the mouse, which work well for me in GW2 and other mmo’s, and I assign my attacks and powers to the keyboard. Works really good for me. However, I have played games such as DC Universe with a gamepad that worked incredibly well. I guess having the option to do both with default setting would be something to consider in the future since certain mmo’s have already gone that route.
Appreciate the reply.
I’ve noticed that some of the other mmo’s have a default game pad option where you simply plug your game pad in and assign the buttons of your choice. Seeing how GW2 is so popular I’m thinking a default game pad option would be a good add on. I know a lot of people use game pads after setting up motion joy and all that but having a default option strictly for GW2 would be nice in my opinion.
Oh no. My wife was just in a COE run and a guy started being a jackarse to her. Bam. Kicked. No need for that kind of rudeness and jackwagonry. Suck it up and find another group. Not being able to kick is a terrible idea. Try not pugging instead by finding a dungeon centric guild.
That should go both ways don’t you think ? If the OP should just suck it up when getting kicked for no reason shouldn’t your wife just suck it up when some dude is being a jerk for no reason ?
This used to happen to me all the time when I played Dc Universe. They eventually made it where you couldn’t kick during pugs when queing but it still went on when people would make groups and let someone in. Too bad GW2 doesn’t have a que system.
You are not doing anything wrong. Though it is hard to get my finger round this fully, it looks like it has to do with your auction house account is doing something else. Mostly this happens when you have many popular things on sale (I have a garage sale on my collectibles from time to time, putting everything i dont use on the tp for sale), and I see it intensifying when i put more stuff on, and getting it when new money is there to pick up.
Ahhhh okay. Appreciate the replies.
When selling items in the trading post, I often run into " error attempting to sell " Am I doing something wrong when selling items on the trading post to cause this ? Is there a way around this error ?
Thanks.

A buff is a benefit that increases the stats of an item or that of a player. For example someone can get a speed buff to increase their movement speed or magic find buff to increase the odds of finding better items from loot.
A nerf is usually when game developers decrease the stats or effectiveness of a certain skill or trait. This is also applied to areas that are popular for farming when developers have hit it with worse drops or diminishing returns.
For example with the rumors of the next update you will probably see the term nerf many many time.
Hope that helps.
Yep, helped a great deal.
Appreciate the replies.
Wondering what is meant by buff and nerf ? Is a buff increasing or making a skill or trait better ? and is nerf doing that opposite ?
I know I should know this but I don’t. Thanks to whoever takes the time to respond.

Started happening to me after the last update/patch. When this occurs, 9 times out of 10 it’s do to the new update/patch not your pc.
i’ve the same problem i cant relog in game after patch, the client continue crash after character selection
Ah okay, just making sure it wasn’t on my end.
Thanks for your reply.
Is anyone else getting disconnected after the last update ?
Just for asethics, I’d love to have an offhand sword!
For practicalty, these weapons could apply other condition appliers since we really only have access to one: burning. This could open up a new build based on conditions.
The #4 could be an immobilizer or stunner
The #5 could be poison.
Agreed, agreed, agreed ! I so wish Guardians could have an offhand sword.
I know this is off topic but I wanna see some Elves.
I only play human because I like the build of the body. Yeah it’s silly but that’s my reason.
As far as classes I’m not going to say any class is bad I just prefer certain classes over others.
For me, at the moment, Warrior, Guardian and Mesmer are the only professions I have the interest in to grind out to end game.
I prefer heavy armor and illusions over pets.
I stay away from Elementalist and Engineers because I’m to used to weapon swap.

People are quitting ? Every time I log in the servers are full.
Every mmo has the " I quit " crowd. They say they quit but the soon return.
I feel GW2 took first place because it’s a buy to play mmo. The quality of game play you get for a one time payment is remarkable.
I have yet to run into a buy to play mmo with the type of quality GW2 has.
Not sure if this has already been discussed, if so just delete it, but for those who told me I was wrong a month ago, here ya go.

I’m pretty sure you know that I’m going to say Heavy Armor you lil thought reader you.
Not in combat, when out of combat switch elites, then switch back. It will put your golem on CD and give 10% life force.
Thanks you.
Is there a way to make the Flesh Golem go away when not needed ?
Only way to get stability on necro is use lich form or plague form elites or trait 30 points into soul reaping for foot in the grave. We have a few stunbreaks but they are all high cooldown and weak compared to other classes. We have spectral grasp for a pull control effect and the flesh golem charge for a knockdown. Still not much choice in these departments. Its the main reason we are considered so weak in spvp.
Ahhh okay. Thanks for your reply.
How do Necromancers break stuns, control effects and gain stability ? I saw one elite skill that does this which is Avatar of Melandru, which everyone has. Spectral armor breaks stuns but I didn’t see anything for control effects and stability.
Any advice ?
Thank you for the links and information. Very much appreciated.
