Sounds like Elementalist would be good for him. With the attunement switching I’m sure he could find a build that suits him well from what he prefers in a class.

Like a /who type command that would list who’s in the zone kinda?

I’m thinking more of an indicator on the side of the map screen that shows the population of the zone you’re in like how the population is showed with different servers.

How about having some type of way a player could see the population in each zone. I think this would help out with champion farming and group events.

I cannot seem to complete the Blazeridge steppes map because of one heart. The Ash Legion Tawny ridge stealth operation. It seems to be a difficult heart to complete because when I tried looking it up on youtube I got nothing. As a matter of fact, that heart seems to be the only heart without a youtube video of someone completing it.

Any hints on how to complete this heart for those who have done it ?

I think in the future GW2 is going to be the mmo to compete with if it isn’t already and other mmo’s are going to be forced to follow its lead. The survival of mmo’s in the future will be their quality and not their monthly subscriptions.

Most and least fun classes.

GuildWarsPlayer.5608

For Me, Guardian, Warrior, Mesmer as most favorite and Elementalist, Necro, and Ranger are the least.

Couldn’t get into the Elementalist because I got stuck on weapon switch leveling My Guardian, Warrior and Mesmer to 80. I just can’t go without being able to switch weapons lol. The Attunement switch isn’t as fun, to me, as weapon switching.

I fell away from the Necromancer because I’m not really into pets, or minions, which is why I haven’t even tried the Ranger out.

Thieves I don’t mind, I just prefer other classes over them. I haven’t tried an Engineer, so I can’t speak on them.

Guardians and Warriors I really enjoy because I like to solo without pets and I love the melee combat they do.

I like the Mesmers abilities and their flashy powers look cool.

What makes Gw2 a great MMO

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GuildWarsPlayer.5608

GuildWarsPlayer.5608

Most of what I like about this game over other MMOs is stuff other people dislike.

Things like the lack of gear progression. Once you get to level 80 you can get exotics relatively easily and for most content ascended gear is optional. I’m used to single player RPGs so I think of upgrading your equipment as something you do to make other content easier, not a goal in it’s own right. I like that I can just get my exotics and then not have to worry about it. I’m saving up guild commendations and laurels for ascended gear but I’m in no hurry to get it.

I also like that there’s no duelling, open world PvP or kill stealing. I like playing with other people around but not when everyone outside your own party is a potential threat. I also like that when you die you don’t risk losing everything you have with you to some random passer-by.

Also the lack of a subscription fee and pay-to-win content in the gem store. I couldn’t afford to keep up with either model whereas this one works perfectly for me because if I have the money I can buy something extra and if not I can go without it and the whole game is still fully accessible.

I think the buy to play method they came up with benefits them because it keeps people playing and the more people who play the more people will eventually buy something.

I also feel, because players aren’t forced into a subscription, it makes the player more SUPPORTIVE of the game.

People often don’t mind buying things when they aren’t forced too. I think people probably spend more in situations like a buy to play system.

GuildWarsPlayer.5608

1. Buy to play

2. Awesome graphics

3. Smooth combat ( I like certain professions better than others )

4. Very solo friendly, the best I have run across in an mmo thus far.

5. A huge amount of content.

6. I love the way wvw is separate for pvp.

7. A large growing map, very good for exploring and farming. The farming never gets boring.

8. The in world events and dragon events are cool. I like the way you can run across events randomly and join in.

That’s all that comes to mind right now.

GuildWarsPlayer.5608

Not trying to be funny or anything but, they do have total body makeover kits where you’re allowed to change your race. I’ve come across two of them doing dragon events.

I’ve never changed my race although I’ve seen the option to do so and was warned, once done it’s permanent, so I don’t know when you change your race if it resets your personal story or not.

Once again, this is not an insult or jab just a statement.

GuildWarsPlayer.5608

I haven’t gotten 100 % completion yet but was wondering what I can do after I’ve achieved it. Just off the top of my head I’ve come up with certain things that can be done.

1. Continue exploring the map by setting personal waypoints and farming.

2. Dungeons wvw.

3. Armor and weapon skin hunting.

4. Not into pvp but that is always an option.

5. Get that legendary weapon which is gonna be a complete grind fest.

6. Wait for new content lol.

I read that GW2 was adding a que system. That will be cool if it’s for dungeons and such.

Any of you care to share what you do with your 100% complete characters other than deleting them ?

1. I like Guardian because I like to solo. The animation of the powers are cool to me. I like the movement of the combat with Guardians.
2. Warrior because once again I like to solo. I like the choice of weapons. I like the powers and I’m into knight’s and melee combat. I guess liking knight’s and melee combat would fall under Guardian as well. The Melee combat never bores me with Guardians and Warriors.
3. Mesmer because I like the idea of clones and phantasms being at your disposal and they look cool. I like the staff powers of the Mesmer. I like the hybrid aspect of Mesmers ( Being able to melee with dual swords I’m really fond of ). I really like the animation effects of the Mesmers powers.

Has GW2 ruined other mmo's ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

GuildWarsPlayer.5608

Thanks for all this feedback.

I guess for me, I like to be able to play A game for as long as I like which I found I couldn’t do with other mmo’s.

Once again I will use DC Universe as an example.

When starting off in DC Universe, the storyline and gameplay is terrific. However, when that ends you are pretty much forced to do instances and such with other people.

Here is where the problem begins with that system. EVERYONE has to play their role in order to advance. Well, everyone would not always play their role as they should which would result in huge in game arguments which would pretty destroy the mission you all were doing. Now when I say, PLAY YOUR ROLE this meant the healer would have to heal, the controller would have to give power, and the tank and dps would have to, well you get the idea. If one of these roles weren’t played correct, the mission is null and void.

I have yet to run into that playing GW2 because there are no specific roles. You don’t have to depend on a healer to stay alive. People can’t leave you hanging as easy as I have noticed in other mmo’s like, Yes you guessed it, DC Universe.

If DC Universe took on the same game mechanics as GW2, the game would be just as great.

Has GW2 ruined other mmo's ?

GuildWarsPlayer.5608

Has GW2 ruined other mmo’s for you ? It has for me, reason being, the quality of the game is really good and is a one time, buy to play mmo. The other Free to play mmo’s I have run across, charge a monthly fee for full access to their game and the quality of those mmo’s aren’t as good as the quality of GW2.

I’ll Use DC Universe as an example. Now I was a big fan of DC Universe. The combat is smooth and nice and if you find the right group of people, very fun to play however, once you get to a certain point you have to buy the dlc’s or purchase a legendary subscription for a month to get full access to the game. I believe the legendary subscription was 15 a month when I was playing. With all that purchased, and I did purchase these things, the game does not match up to what GW2 offers for a one time buy to play payment.

Since playing GW2 I haven’t even bothered looking at other mmo’s.

Guild Wars 2 has captured.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GuildWarsPlayer.5608

GuildWarsPlayer.5608

In My opinion GW2 has really captured the essence of mass multi player online gaming.

To Begin with, I have never come across an mmo where you can solo so much content if you choose. I think being able to solo content and run into a group event by chance and simply join in is amazing. Having so many things that can be done without being forced to join a guild to advance is awesome.

I like the Idea of being able to do my own thing when I choose, run into people, join in with them ,if I choose, without being stuck to one particular guild or group.

Thumbs up GW2 for your new generation mmo game mechanics.

If there are other mmo’s that share this type of mmo gaming mechanics, by all means, let me know which ones they are.

Solo Viable?

GuildWarsPlayer.5608

An easy way to do it is to go to all the level 1-15 zones first then the 15-25 zones and so on until you get level 80. I leveled all mine to 80 this way pretty much. They never saw more than a couple of mid level zones before level 80.

That’s what I’ve always done. I haven’t run into a more solo friendly mmo yet which is why GW2 is my number 1 mmo. I love soloing.

Ranger without pet possibility ?

in Ranger

Posted by: GuildWarsPlayer.5608

GuildWarsPlayer.5608

I pray for the day the Heavenly Father blesses Rangers with the ability to go without a pet. I hope and I pray that one day Anet turns an about face and allows us to perma-stow our pet and give the Ranger that 30-40% damage back.

Anet’s current stance is that we are suppose to play the way they want and that is with a pet anytime you are in combat. Of course, you can play with pet on passive but then you are missing that DPS the pet is supposed to provide, artificially handicapping yourself and F2 abilities.

Ahhh okay, thanks for the reply.

They are going to be adding more weapons to each profession, but I doubt they will add ALL weapons to all professions.
The wording Colin gave in an interview is that they would add more weapons to professions before they would add a profession to the game and that both are not going to happen soon.

Ah Okay. Letting every profession use all weapons would probably be too much like Elder Scrolls Online ( I read that they are going to allow all characters to use all weapons like SkyRim ).

I hope they allow Guardians to use Bows. Now that would be cool.

Client freeze, can't pull task manager

GuildWarsPlayer.5608

This is usually a sure sign of Hardware Failure and not the game itself.

Either a CPU is overheating, there’s Bad Overclocking at play, a Memory block/timing is bad, or maybe even a whole harddrive sector could be scrambled. Though usually, it’s a Video driver conflict and either a new or older version needs to be installed.

Only happened once. I ran a scan and everything is working properly so I’m thinking it has to do with the recent driver update.
