I’ll give it a shot just because. I didn’t want to waste the gold if it wasn’t possible but what the heck.
Thanks for the replies.
If I have a heavy armor class in a certain order, can I buy armor of a different class and still unlock the skin ?
Example: Lets say I have a warrior in the Order Of Whispers. Can I buy the light armor set, unlock the skin and transmutate that skin on, lets say, my Elementalist in the Durmand Priory ?
It could just be me but, since the launch of the megaserver, it appears, to me at least, that more people are playing.
I like the human risen race. I would love to make an evil mage with that look. Pure death.
Oh, almost forgot. The Icebrood race looks cool. Would really enjoy a warrior or guardian Icebrood character.
OP, you pretty much summed it up. I can’t even add anything of my own to this thread other than, I agree with you 100%.
I am also an aging gamer, only 3 years under you and I have played quite a few mmo’s. After jumping into GW2, I no longer have any of those mmo’s installed on my pc. GW2 is the only mmo I have been playing since I got the game.
In my opinion, right now, no other mmo can hold a candle to GW2 when you add up everything that is offered for what you actually pay for.
Appreciate this thread.
I personally love the megaservers. Makes the game more like an mmo now instead of a single player game.
I use my staff for GvG’s, Raids, Duels, PvP, Roaming.
U just have to know how to handle it and how to build it.
I can agree with this. I just haven’t come up with the right staff build for solo pve.
Staff sucks in solo PvE. I’ve been leveling my Ele in the Pavilion and staffing as part of a group is awesome. Bottom line of what I’ve learned leveling (up to 51), staff sucks solo and is awesome in a group. D/D or D/F is where it has been at for me while going solo. I was getting trashed once I left the Pavilion using my staff xD.
I had that same experience. I was getting trashed doing solo pve with staff while leveling up. When I learned D/D, not only did I start having more fun, but survivability increased dramatically.
Now when grouping, in my opinion, staff is unchallenged.
Elementalist you say ? My main is an Elementalist. Let me hit up the Elementalist section and see how to turn up this dps.
gw2 is very good mmo and can remain one of the best mmos out there and remain among top mmos for years to come.
but it really need some IMPROVEMENT:
like—- AI improvement including rangers pet
like—improving dungeon paths , for god sake in an MULTI player game dungeon must not be solo able. the end game of an mmo is all about playing together or there are ton of single player games out there. and people who solo it are not some super skilled people. its all about skipping and standing in safe place thanks to design flows even stacking as group make more sense than that.
like—LS can replace traditional expansion with more permanent content and improved quality of content. not do able on day one with many plot hole/lose ends like scarlet story had.
like—improving rewards for events and activities
The thing I like about this game is, the game gives you a choice whether to solo or team up. I’m all for the solo content.
I’ve tried several mmo’s and none of them hold a match to GW2.
ArmoredVehicle.2849 Did the clean install as you recommended and things are running smooth.
Thank you for your help and advice sir.
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-3570 CPU @ 3.40 GHz
Installed memory (RAM) 8.00 GB
and I’m currently running a NVIDIA 650 TI graphics card.
According the GW2 requirements, I’m over the minimum requirements. I also ran the CAN YOU RUN IT test and passed.
The game runs smooth I just noticed what I mentioned and found it to be odd. I know sometimes these things also happen with game updates as I am no new mmo player.
Looking forward to your reply after you update.
Ok so I installed it a few minutes after my first message.
The game has been running for me, no blinks or anything unusual than my previous ones (332.21).
Did you install the new drivers using Geforce Experience? I’ve read that quite a few people had trouble installing the 337.88 with it.
When I update my drivers I always do a clean install following this order:
Uninstall Physx Driver
Uninstall HD Audio Driver (and reboot the system)
Uninstall Graphics Driver (and the reboot the system again)
Then I reboot again in safe mode and run a free program called Driver Fusion to remove any leftovers from the old drivers. When done I reboot again in normal mode and start installing the new drivers.
When Installing new drivers I always tick the “Perform Clean Install” option and install only the – Graphics Drivers, Physx and HD Audio components. Personally I don’t need the rest.
Lastly, it’s hard to get perfect working drivers across every system in the world. The latest drivers don’t always mean they’re the best. If you’re fine with the older drivers then maybe you don’t need to update yet.
My System Specs:
CPU – i5 2400
Ram – 8GB
GPU – EVGA GTX 760
OS – W7 64bit
Yes I did use Geforce. I will try what you’ve suggested and see what goes down. I’m assuming your EVGA GTX 760 is a more powerful graphics card than my 650 TI.
I appreciate your help.
Oh yeah, I’m running windows 7 as well.

OP providing your system specs would help your issue a bit more.
Nvidia drivers tend to be hit or miss, took them to 6 months to fix an issue with 400/500 series.
I’m going to update to 337.88 myself later today to check out the new shader cache. Will reply back as soon as I do.

I’ve noticed when installing graphic card driver updates, sometimes the newer drivers seem to not work as well as the older drivers. I’m wondering, if thats the case and not just my imagination, how would one know which driver to upgrade too ?
The latest update for NVIDIA is driver 337.88 which I tried. I noticed, at times, the screen would blink out and in a few seconds, reappear. This seemed odd to me, since it wasn’t happening before. So I reinstalled the previous driver and the problem went away, so I’m thinking it had to be the driver update.
If this is the case, what would be the best way to know what driver to install when an update is released ?
Thanks to anyone that can answer this one for me.
You might try the Tech Support sub-forum, or the forums for the graphics cards you wish to update.
Good luck.
Ah Okay, maybe the mods will move this thread to tech support.

Appreciate the stats and replies, thanks again.
I have a bad habit of deleting characters and restarting. I also was playing other mmo’s at the time so, even though I’ve owned the game basically since launch, I’ve never completed the game nor have I done any end game.
Seeing now that GW2 is basically the best mmo out right now ( IMO ) I’m making what I call " Keepers ". As of right now I’m working on a level 80 Guardian. I will not delete this character nor will I start another character until this character is fully complete.
I’m basically still a rookie.
P.S.
Oh yeah I almost forgot. I’ve basically uninstalled the other mmo’s I was playing, they just don’t match up to GW2.

Thank you for the quick response.
Just wondering what bag is available at the tp with the most slots. So far I’ve found the 10 slot wool bags.
Thanks.
Cool. I never really focused on the queensdale train too much. I would only do 2 to 3 runs to pick up extra gold.
Thanks for the replies.
It’s generally a support weapon only (and a very good one at that in the right builds). The highest potential fit damage is probably in a permeating wrath build. Just auto attacking and running through zergs or large events can let you burn all the things. But, then again, you can do that with most other weapons also. Staffs auto just make it easier to tag.
Thank you sir. I think I will focus on healing toughness and vitality with sigils that have to do with group support and healing.
I noticed the popular champ train in queensdale is no more. Are all the champ trains done now or just that one ? Also, are there any new champ trains ? I’ve been running into people doing more champs since the launch of the megaserver, so I’m wondering if any new champ trains have started ?
Great job with the megaserver to the devs by the way, loving it.
I know the Guardians staff is probably the weakest staff in the game so I’m wondering is there a way to beef it up to put out sufficient damage or is it better used for support and healing ?
Thanks for the quick replies. If I ever get around to making a medium armor class character I’ll roll thief. Not a big fan of the pet. And thanks for breaking down the difference between minions and pets for me, appreciated.
I was wondering if there is a Ranger build without a pet ? I know Necromancers can run around without minions and wondering if Rangers have that same ability. I’ve never played Ranger because I didn’t want a pet always following me around and doing all the work. Just a curious question for any experienced Rangers out there.
I can’t believe people are complaining about the megaserver. IMO it is a great update. Now I can simply run around and complete events, meet new people, do group events with no problem etc.. This is a great improvement.
If Dungeons were the same as open world pve I think more people would do ALL of them. I would love to just simply walk into a dungeon and run into other players. That would be cool IMO.
i see no problems, beside some server hick-ups and some disconnections it doesn’t effect anything i like, really don’t see what all the fuss is all about.
Same here. I made a new character simply to participate in the new megaserver. I’m currently only level 23 or so, but even at that low level, I am enjoying the megaserver more so than when I leveled a year ago under the old servers. I think this is because, there is always someone around now, which in my opinion, is what mmo’s are all about….People always being around.
Megaserver has destroyed any enjoyment I had for running world bosses.
It’s crazy but I’ve done more world boss events in the last week even though I very much dislike the number of people doing them (5fps!). I dislike the scheduling of them but I’m taking advantage anyway.
On another note, think we all know this thread is going to get locked but when are we going to be able talk about his between ourselves? They have two weeks of feedback already.
I read something about them working on low fps do to a lot of players gathering in the same area.
I too have noticed a drop in fps when around a large groups of people and I’m over the minimum requirements.

Yeah, it will get locked. Well atleast I was able to get some feedback.

It seems like doing world bosses would be a lot easier now since people will always be around. If I’m wrong, apologies.
When I do log-on, there’s always something going on in Orr. I like being able to run with random people and do stuff. I’m biased though, I’m not in a guild, my entire friends list seems to have quit a long time ago, and I don’t RP.
I haven’t experienced “crap” people. Just people wanting to do stuff and actually being able to get it done.
I fall into this category. I love it.
I simply love it. The reason I became interested in GW2 is I wanted to play an mmo where you could simply run around and run into stuff to do. It was disappointing running around and seeing none of the group events and stuff they had set up not being done. Well now that is a thing of the past from what I have seen. Now I am always running into groups doing stuff and meeting new people.
In my opinion the megaserver is a big win for GW2. How do you feel about it ?
If this topic has already been discussed, apologies. I haven’t posted on the forums in awhile.
Yes, you only get Traits starting at level 30 now. You get 1 point at 30 and then more after that (1 every 6 levels until 66, when you’ll start getting 2 every 6 levels). 1 point is equal to an old 5 points and will unlock a trait skill. They have adjusted the health on mobs level 1-30 to compensate for no traits until 30.
Thank you. This response pretty much summed it up for me. Thanks again.
…I’m not sure you understand.
Oh, rest assured, I do not understand at the moment lol.
Gonna read up right quick.
I’ll see if I can explain in as simple of a manner as possible.
Previously, one level = one trait point = 10 points/1% of a stat. Five trait points = one trait, minor or major.
Now, trait points do not come at every level, but each trait point = 50 points/5% of a stat and one trait point = one trait.
This means that trait points are worth 5x the power they were before… so you only get 1/5 as many.
Your build can stay exactly the same if you are level 80. If you are still leveling, you’ll get traits a little bit slower than before. They start at level 30, for example, not level 10.
In the end, at level 80, though, not much has changed.
That’s a simplification, but hopefully it helps a bit.
Ah Okay I see now. I didn’t read the previous replies from the other players. Apologies and thanks for breaking this down for me.
Well this doesn’t seem to be too bad of a change. What is your personal opinion about the new trait system ?
…I’m not sure you understand.
Oh, rest assured, I do not understand at the moment lol.

They condensed 70 trait points to a total of 14.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-April-15-2014/first#post3896049
Unlocking Trait Tiers
Adept trait tier will now unlock at level 30.
Master trait tier will now unlock at level 60.
Grandmaster trait tier will now unlock at level 80.Acquiring Trait Points
Trait points have been condensed into 14 points (down from 70), each of which is equivalent to the value of 5 old trait points. This means that instead of granting 10 points of each trait-line-specific stat, each trait point will provide 50 points of the trait-line-specific stats. These will be distributed in the following manner:Level 30—1 Trait Point
Level 36—1 Trait Point
Level 42—1 Trait Point
Level 48—1 Trait Point
Level 54—1 Trait Point
Level 60—1 Trait Point
Level 66—2 Trait Points
Level 72—2 Trait Points
Level 78—2 Trait Points
Level 80—2 Trait Points
Oh wow. Wonder if there’s a point in playing Elementalist now. That profession was is my main.
Let me go to the Elementalist forum and see what’s being said. This should be good lol.
Update: Oh, I have no traits at all now, not even on my 80. I’m thinking people are outraged about this one.
Did they change the trait point system while leveling a new character ? If so, can someone explain or link me to what we have to do to get these points.
I noticed the same thing pre patch. I did have a driver update that I think may have had something to do with it. Did you have an update that coincided with the patch?
Yeah, I did have a driver update as well. This is interesting and cool. First time I have noticed this.
Thanks for the replies, glad to see I’m not losing it …. yet lol
So I log on today and it seems that the graphics look better, more defined. Was there a graphics update with the last patch or am I just tripping ?
Also, don’t limit yourself. If you only have one character, then by all means, go with the one you like the armor art. When you make more, try the other orders.
Cheers!
Agreed. I’ll g with the priory since that order seems to be geared towards mages.
Thanks !
Oh Okay, thanks.
There are all classes in every order. Pick any you like but remember that it is a permanent choice. You cannot change it later.
Thank you for replying to my rookie question. I’m gonna go with the Vigil for the level 80 pvt armor.
I’ve been playing this game for quite some time but never focused on one character nor have I finished the personal story. With that said, I’ve deleted all of my other professions and went with my Elementalist as a main.
Again thanks for replying.
Elementalist is harder to play out of the classes you mentioned in my opinion but a great profession, also in my opinion.
Does it matter what faction you join ? Seems like the Vigil is for Warriors and Guardians and The Order of Whispers is for Thieves, Rangers and Engineers and the Priory is for the Mages.
I was thinking of putting my elementalist into the Vigil instead of the Priory cause I like Vigil armor.
Comments ?
I remember that video lol. He was/is right too. GW2 has destroyed all other mmo’s for me up to this point. I’ve uninstalled all of the mmo’s I was playing because none of them match up to this game.
Nice vids and respect to the guy singing lol.
Hate: The people that constantly put the game down yet continue to play.
Like: I’d be here all day if I listed everything I like about the game.
