Archeage has some great ideas, but they bolted them on to a fairly mediocre MMO core. Imagine if GW2 had housing, farms, and other features. It would be an unstoppable behemoth.
Maybe those things will happen in the future. The great thing about mmo’s is, they are always changing, which is why I’m done with trying other mmo’s. GW2 is always moving and updating. I don’t want to miss anything trying out other mmo’s that aren’t even as good as this one.
Well for me, since GW2 has dropped I have uninstalled the other mmo’s I was playing at the time and I no longer bother trying anything else out because as far as mmo’s go, GW2 pretty much has everything covered I am looking for in an mmo.
When I find myself getting bored with the game, I know it’s not the game but instead, it’s me. I simply log out and do something else until the need to play video games returns, then I simply log back in.
I know no other mmo is gonna satisfy me when I get bored of playing video games.
What burns me is when you actually have a good PuG and the dungeon goes great and then as soon as it’s done, they ‘poof’. But…but…I liked you guys! sigh back to the LFG.
lol, I’ve had that happen lol.
Maybe you didn’t realize you have to read the description before joining?
That could be the problem. Appreciate all the quick replies.
The LFG option is really useless for me, especially when it comes to dungeons. All I run into is elitist and people who seem to like getting on players nerves.
Now I’m not complaining, because unlike other mmo’s I have played, if you’re kicked from a dungeon for no specific reason or people are just running around aimlessly not working together, you can do other things to occupy your time. This is one of the main reasons I will always support GW2. Game play doesn’t stop with idiots.
Anyway, I find entering dungeons with team mates or like minded people more viable than using the LFG option. Comments ?
When you conjure any weapon, you have 15 charges, meaning you can use 15 abilities before it runs out. With conjurer, you’ll have 25 charges, so it’s a useful trait for lightning hammer spec, because you’ll have far more auto attacks before having a downtime on your conjure. Check Dekeyz guides on youtube, basically a conjure spec is taking a lot of multipliers and pf+ weak spot for support. If you have any questions you can pm me ^^
So in essence, charges adds more time the conjured weapon stays conjured. I see now, Thank you very much.
You’re not sitting in water for self healing, you’re sitting in water if you have piercing shards for a 20% damage modifier. But it’s a personal build, you won’t use that in pug, it’d be better to use your conjures in air with a 6/6/2 build.
Oh okay, I misunderstood then, which brings me to a conjured weapons trait skill by the name of conjurer. Now when it states, conjured weapons have more charges, what do they mean by charges ? Does this trait skill give you the ability to conjure the weapon more than once ?
Thanks for this information. It didn’t even cross my mind to sit in water when conjuring for self healing. Again thanks for this information.
I’m thinking I should grab the traits that pertain to conjured weapons and dump the rest into water for self healing.
Do or have any of you vets run or ran a conjured weapons build ? If so, is it viable in pve and wvw ? Whats is your build and preferred conjured weapons layout ?
Tera Online mastered it actually. Vindictus is technically an mmo too but plays more like a hack’n slash. And then I think there’s a few other ones like C9 and some Korean ones that aren’t available here yet.
Thing about Tera is, you are rooted when attacking unlike GW2. Here you can move while attacking which puts GW2 combat above Tera’s combat system in my opinion.
Um no, you are rooted only if you use spells that root you. Just like 100 blades on warrior in gw2. Tera makes use of having to complete a certain part of each attack before you can react and cancel or dodge. This isn’t a bad thing becuase it makes timing and positioning important, adding a level of skill beyond pressing the highest damage ability as soon as it it off cooldown. Auto attacks in Tera are also different for some of classes, warrior for instance can move while auto attacking although slower. Also many of Tera’s skills have built in mobility allowing you to use them for more than just attacking, much like a warriors whirlwind in gw2.
If you could run in circles and spam 1 on some classes in Tera it would completely trivialize the content because of Tera’s combat system and it’s AI. In Tera you are constantly avoiding attacks through your classes mechanics, abilities, and positioning. If I could take any melee class from gw2 against Tera’s AI I could just run in circles and spam 1 and win. The fact that you can move and attack in one game and not the other has no bearing on the dominance of one combat system over the other. What I can say is that Tera has much more engaging and difficult combat mechanics. When mastered they are far more rewarding than anything I have encountered in gw2. Collision is also an important factor in action combat, something that gw2 also lacks.
Thats not true, I have a warrior over there and when I attack I am rooted no matter what. I understand you prefer Tera over GW2 as you should understand I prefer GW2 over Tera and nothing can be disputed when it comes to Tera’s combat roots the character while attacking.
Oh yeah, might I add, you’re stuck with one weapon set in Tera. For example, warriors can only melee over there, they have no range, which puts you at a disadvantage in pvp in my opinion.
I just got done playing an hour of Tera on my warrior, attacking doesn’t root, but it does force you to move in the direction of a specific attack. If that is rooting then gw2 warrior rush is rooting and so is whirlwind…
MMM k, just also got back from playing Tera. Let me explain my definition of rooting. When you attack you are stuck in that attack without the ability to move.
Example: When I attack with my great sword in gw2 I’m able to strafe left and right and still swing that great sword. When I use 100 blades I can break out of it while strafing left or right. I’m not able to do these things in Tera once I attack until the attack is done.
Well you can’t cancel abilities, that isn’t really rooting if the ability is moving you. I cant cancel rush on my gw2 warrior. Is that rooting? I don’t think so.
Exactly, Gw2 doesn’t root, we’ve already covered that.
According to your definition it does root…
No it doesn’t, But I see no point in continuing on with this debate with you, have a good day.

Kinda off the subject matter here but in regards to Tera vs Gw2, Gw2’s character customization is better than Tera’s. Way better.
Hey guys,
Been a good long time since I played Gw2. Gonna be a ton of hate, but was on WoW LMAO.
After thinking, i’ve decided to give Gw2 a shot. And am wondering as a new player, since I’m gonna start from square one, there’s a few questions in my mind.- Do people still play Gw2? As in enough to have proper players in open world stuff go smoothly?
- Which server is the most “friendly” for new comers/comebackers like myself? In terms of population i guess.
- What would be a solid soloable class, yet is also sought after by parties and raids?Right now got my mind fixed on going back to my old MMO’s that I used to play, one of em is gw2, others are Rift, Rappelz, Rose, Gw2, Swtor so kinda wanna see which is the best and most comfy out of all.
WoW, has run dry for me LOL
Welcome back and you’re gonna love the new megaserver. PVE is in full effect !

I would say that Wildstar’s implementation of it is a lot more engaging and fun.
It’s just too bad that game turned out to be WoW 2.0, I hated the grind in that game which was a total turn off, but the combat mechanics in that game far exceeded gw2
Wild Star is subscription based so, so much for that. GW2 has pretty much destroyed any subscription based mmo for me.
If you are just talking about mobility in combat I have not seen anything to compare with Champions Online.
Yeah .. CO combat was also great .. i never understood why they gave us the same
system in Neverwinter .. or at least the option to switch from the shooter-style to
something like in CO.Or did i just didn’t find the option ? Was at least another game i deinstalled after maybe
30 minutes .. like Vindictus and DCUO because of that.
I played DCUO for awhile and also uninstalled after discovering GW2. They didn’t have enough content in my opinion. GW2 never lacks on content. The content always changes and new content is added every two weeks without the player being forced to sub. That’s amazing in mmo standards, in my opinion.
Tera Online mastered it actually. Vindictus is technically an mmo too but plays more like a hack’n slash. And then I think there’s a few other ones like C9 and some Korean ones that aren’t available here yet.

I’m not a big fan of the ’attacking on the go. Otherwise it is indeed fluid and satisfying, but…
GW2 camera and targeting is still kitten.
Hopefully by GW3 they can drop this archaic targeting/camera system for full action combat. I’m not asking for a TPS, but manual aiming of skills, soft lock targeting of skills (such as mass effect did with powers) and so on. I’m aware ESO has this, but I’ll wait for that to go f2p/b2p before trying it.
I agree with this. I wish I didn’t have to ‘mod’ it to play more like this. Neverwinter has spoiled me in this regard, it controls and plays real well for an ’action MMO".
NeverWinter is also another example of being rooted while attacking.
If you are just talking about mobility in combat I have not seen anything to compare with Champions Online.
Champions Online seems to have the exact same combat system from what I experienced. I quit playing that game because of the pay to win format they have.

It is called “Action Combat”.
Many MMOs claim to have it but it is usually half truth.
Agreed. Seems like GW2 has mastered it.
GW2 is the only mmo I have played where the character doesn’t get rooted while fighting. I simply love being able to move while attacking.
My question is, what is the correct name for this type of combat system ? Reason for asking is, I want to do some research on other mmo’s that use this type of combat system and see whether or not they are as successful as GW2.
I’m thinking it is hard to develop this type of combat system which is why not too many mmo’s use it. Hats off to the developers of this mmo.
Thanks.
I’d go D/D in pvp. With the healing capabilities of D/D I feel a good D/D Elementalist is a force to be reckoned with.
Update to the latest driver and you will be pleased. Just thought I would share.
Cast Meteor Shower then transform to Tornado and watch your Meteor balls hit for 3 times the normal damage. It wouldn’t be strange to see numbers hovering 12k-13k.
lol I just tried that and can’t stop laughing. Thanks for that tip.
Cool, thanks for the feedback.
Everyone says staff is a poor weapon choice for pve and wvw ( without a group ) yet, all I see is Elementalist running around with staffs on their oddy Knocky ( own ) With that said, I would like to know what traits and slot skills those guys use if there are any present on the forum. Thanks in advance for those who care to share.
Try to find a guild that suits your own timezone and purpose. Most people in gw2 are very nice and I met some of the best people while recruiting. Nowadays guilds have dwindled down and try to focus on their own infrastructure but you can still try
This. And if you start lfg’ing in easier dungeons like ac, cof, ta etc. you will come across nice people you can add and suddenly, you have a full group of people you can play with and have fun. I met quite a few people like this.
Imma noob to dungeons so what are the exact names of the best dungeons and paths for a beginner that is using the lfg option ? No abbreviations.
Thanks.
Ascalonian Catacombs 1,2,3
Caudecus Manor 1,3 (Depends a bit imo)
Twilight Arbor up, forward
Sorrow’s Embrace 1,3
Citadel of Flame 1 (Easiest path in the whole game), 2Crucible of Eternity 1,2,3 are a bit more difficult for beginners, Honor of the Waves is annoying as kitten and before you do Arah you should look up the paths/bosses (especially Giganticus Lupicus). All other paths not listed are rarely run in lfgs because they’re either more difficult, don’t give enough money for the time you spend in there or require more coordination
Thank you very much.

No problem. Kicking problem isn’t that bad on low tier fractals/dungeons, but as people move on to higher difficulty content there are more abusers. I hated the “elitists” in this game before I tried out Arah, but once I started running frequently I now sympathize with some of them (although I don’t agree with them fully).
For fractals and Arah, I’d recommend you go with your friends/guildies to avoid being kicked or subjected to elitism.
Thanks. Too bad I don’t have any friends.
Ah okay. Well looks like there are pros and cons to getting kicked so I am already mentally prepared for the inevitable lol. Thanks for the replies, hopefully something will be done about the abuse of kicking for no reason.
Appreciate the quick response, thanks.
I am seeing a lot of threads about the kick option being abused. From what I’ve experienced in every mmo, kick is always abused. With that said, I’m wondering, when you are kicked for no reason from a dungeon, can you then que for another group and while waiting do other stuff ?
Example: Lets say you got kicked once you’ve reached the last stage of the dungeon for no reason at all other than, people are just being immature and looking to ruin your gaming experience. Can you then que for another group and farm the maps, or do mini events, or do some wvw while waiting on a new group ?
Just wondering, because I haven’t done any dungeons yet and I already know I will be kicked for no reason. It would be nice if I can keep gaming while waiting on a new group to que up.
The only way to prevent this, sadly, is to be the instance owner.
Well the good thing about GW2 is, when you are kicked, you can que for a new group and while waiting, you have plenty to do. In a certain other mmo I used to play, when I would get kicked for absolutely nothing, I would be stuck for for hours, at times, with absolutely nothing to do while waiting for a new group. Of course I am no longer a player of that mmo.
when this game came out at launch I Was like oh god why is there so much underwater content? these hearts and pois and vistas wtf I hate this!!! Now about 2 years later I feel like im not underwater enough and I kind of miss it, as the underwater is actually done very well in this game. I also think there should be more water in wvw again but thats a whole different topic
Yeah, same here. When I first started plying I didn’t care for underwater content, now, I like it just as much as the rest of the content. It mixes stuff up and gives the player something different to do, which keeps stuff from getting boring.
I haven’t played an mmo yet where the kick option hasn’t been abused.

I lost the ability to do anything, logged off, logged back on, still couldn’t do anything, logged off again and currently cannot log back on.
Well if you’re asking me personally I’ll give you the one you enjoy most answer. Only because all of those classes are loved to have in groups. Where as engi necro rangers are not.
Decisions decisions. I have no idea because I like all the professions I have currently leveled. Maybe I’ll just flip uh coin a few times.
In the wiki -> http://wiki.guildwars2.com. Just search legendary and it will guide you with everything you need to acquire. Head start tip: you need to have 100% map completion with at least one character.
Appreciate that. Thanks.
Is there a guide out there I can use to craft a legendary weapon ?
I have 3 80’s ( Elementalist, Guardian and Warrior ) and working on a 4th ( Mesmer ). Out of those 4 which should I main ?
The last time I opened Black Lion Chests (within the last month or so) I got both a hair kit and a total makeover. I think they may still rarely come from doing dailies.
They’ve always been fairly rare as “drops” from either source, though, so you’re likely just facing RNG.
Ah Okay, " kits " is the correct pronunciation. Excuse my noobiness but what does RNG stand for ?
RNG= Random Number Generator, used to determine which garbage drop we will recieve.
Ah Okay, thanks.

I am not an expert on this, but I believe that Arenenet has gone to transmutation charges…a form of currency of a sort. All of the stones and crystals in your inventory should have either been converted or be easily converted to these charges, which reside in your wallet. I still get the random transmutation charge, sometimes in zone completion boxes or other random rewards. You double-click to consume them and then they go into your wallet. Being in the wallet, they are account bound. When you go to transmute something, it will bring up a screen that tells you how many charges it will cost.
Again…I am not an expert in this…some others might be able to give you a better rundown but I believe this is pretty much how it works now.
Yeah, charges are what I meant but I didn’t mean the ones that altered your characters wardrobe appearance, I’m referring to the ones that you can change your characters physical appearance ( Hair, eyes, body etc. ) I used to get drops where this could be done. I no longer get them so I was wondering if they stopped letting them drop or if they drop less or are they buy only items now.
Thanks for your response.
I used to get transmutation stone drops but no longer get them. When I say transmutation stone I mean the stones that you could change your characters appearance. Not sure if the correct term is transmutation stone.
Any way, I those used to drop for me and no longer do. Are they buy only items now or do they still drop every blue moon ?
The reason you can’t do this is because you’d have to redo all dungeons and fractals. These aren’t scaling events. They’re balanced for a party of five.
If 10 people went into one, it would be like it wasnt’ there at all. They could easily run through it.
Instanced encounters like that are made for organized, or at least semi-organized groups.
Agreed, which is why I would change it to make it possible. I would scale the dungeon encounters based on the amount of players that are present like they do in the open world.
Again, this is only a suggestion, we all know this would never go down.
As far as the WoW comment, I can’t speak on it since I haven’t played it. I will say this however. I didn’t say anything about a dungeon finder. I said it would be nice to simply roam into a dungeon on your own and run into stuff to do like you can clearly do in the open world.
There are people out there who do solo dungeons. There are some dungeons that do require multiple people (Crucible of Eternity comes to mind). It’s harder as the content was balanced against a group of five people doing the dungeon, but it’s doable.
You do not have to have a group for most dungeons if you have enough skill.
Thanks for that information. Appreciated.

/disagree @We don’t need nor want a dungeon finder. Use the LFG tool instead, it also works well with randoms and other unorganized people.
What you are suggesting is in essence the same as the dungeon finder we know and hate from WoW.
This guy sounds like an elitist. He is one of the main reasons I hate joining guilds.
I can’t stand guilds and I will explain why. I like to play at my own pace. Like in real life, I don’t really get along with others, so joining a guild for me just never works. I’ve dropped all the other mmo’s I was playing because of my inability to play well with others.
I’m not sure an MMO is exactly a good choice for you then….there’s lots of single player games out of there. One of the biggest features of an MMO is playing with, against or alongside other people.
Well that isn’t true. I already made the point that GW2 is very solo friendly. I also read that 65% of mmo players like to be on their own which is why mmo’s are becoming very solo friendly, like GW2.
Also I didn’t say I didn’t like playing with other people, I said I don’t do well in guilds. The point of an mmo is to play with others. You don’t necessarily have to be part of an organized group to play with others.
I clearly stated, I like being able to roam around freely and run into things to do with other random people. What I do not like is being a part of a guild where people constantly argue and kick one another because a player isn’t meeting, what they feel, is to their standards.
So, this particular MMO is for me obviously.

I don’t know of any other mmo where you can do that and since GW2 has gone in a different direction than your average mmo, I made the suggestion.
Either I’m tripping or the suggestion forum has been removed. Any way, Guild wars is currently the only mmo I play because of the game dynamics, it’s buy to play and is very solo friendly.

I thought playing mmo’s would be a thing of the past for me until I ran across Guild Wars 2.
I love being able to simply roam around and join in on events and such. I think it is awesome to be able to do that in an mmo and not have to commit to a group to simply advance in the game.
Seems like you can pretty much roam around and join in anything as you please except for dungeons and fractals.
So, my suggestion is, why not open dungeons and fractals up where players can enter and run into other players as they play like the open world ?
Guild Wars 2 prides itself on not being like other mmo’s which they have stood by. So why not open the entire game up into a living world where you roam around at your own leisure and run into stuff to do ?
Just a suggestion.
