There is only one dagger skin that I keep going back to, and is 100% free.
Centurion Claw is the Hall of Monuments skin and can be created as many times as you like! The skin is pretty big and feels so good when using Death Blossom with 2x Claw! Best skin in the game IMO!
> only those who has guild wars 1 can have this right? T_T
Only those who have GW1 AND got a point or 15 in their hall of monuments :P
Edit: 13 points to be exact

S/D and SB setup
Power/vit/toughness
Signet of malice
Place caltrops and choking gas when enemy aproaches
Switch to sword/dagger and attack him while having great regeneration,
Use IS when he tries to leave caltrops before the full effect is on him. Laugh
I primarily use the bow now, but I like using S/D as my close range weapon because of the dazing and shadowstepping

If you’re a charr, consider the legionnaire dagger You’re an legionnaire after all (syncs well with the Flame blade if you’re a s/d)

stealth is just overpowered 3 seconds sure as the thief appears it takes 1-2 seconds to spot him enough time to stealth again so you basically have 1 second to shoot a stun/interrupt/immobilize and hope it hits him fast enough before he vanishes. so yea using 3 seconds cooldown as excuse isnt gonna fool anyone. specially when your stealth can remove conditions and regen. thief goes invi with 40% health pops up with 80%-100%.
Wrong, you have 3 seconds to hit him. You can’t see him, but you can target him and hit him. If you have “show enemy name” tagged you can even see his name when targetting him.
Whenever I see a thief stealth, I create a small distance. Wait ’till I see black smoke and click on it. Bam, Thief is locked, Ctrl+T, thief is targetted. Party attacks him.
Also, the last line, that thief just used his healing skill. You now have 27 seconds the time to kill him. Use it.

Actually there is ingame lore about Tybalt being dead, or at least they wanted to make us think that. The Champion Eye of Zhaitan (second last storyline) mentions him being in the risen ranks now.
Because of the emotional attachment you have with Tybalt, the second last quest rly is filled with a lot of emotional pain (at least fictive). Bringing him back alive would ruin this little great written part … (Not fond of the rest of the story though, but this little part was rly good)
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
Also, what would’ve made me feel like my choices rly made a difference, was maybe receiving some mails from the ppl I saved like, 10 levels further on. You’d be playing, suddenly get a mail and you’re like: omg … He still remembers me!
I liked the fact that Rrytlock sent some mails while we leveled to talk about how things are going in the Black Citadel as I was leveling my charr. Too bad it stopped after I hit 80 … which was in a month already

To be fair, Destiny’s Edge has the exact same problem, and so do all the authority figures – Leadership and authority come with respect and talent. As a result, the player is guided to treat Trahearne with contempt.
Just ingame lore would idd picture Destiny’s edge to the same problem as trahearne
But I rly liked destiny’s edge because I read all the books.
Imo it’s rly annoying that Dougal Keane has no greater role in the story anymore (who was a protagonist in the first book)
Using him for example as a leader, and showing us through some story about what he has done and lost, would’ve made a better picture for an empathetic leader.

Since an update somewhere between november and now, people can no longer change their own rank (to a lower rank). This was normally possible.
I was wondering, is this a bug, or was it meant to be like this?
We started a project for finding members for certains dungeons by using the ranking system. (9 ranks, one for each dungeon, all same “level” of rank). Because of this update, the project no longer works..

Downed team mates spamming #1 when I stealth them to res…
Annoying isn’t it, I mostly stealth allies .. wait for 2 seconds to see what they will do … and if the spam #1 I just leave them to die

Thief’s skill backstab, will block the chi in the avatar, rendering his ability to cast magic (thus removing everything on his skill bar) for 5 minutes.
Let the game begin
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
Shadowsteps doesn’t cross jumps. The ledge jumping you refer to flyfunner is only when there is a way up to the ledge within certain distance. And you’ll still have to aim the shot on the edge or it’ll fail.

Explorer set is a power/precision/mf gear. Glass cannons only lose critical damage
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
Dagger storm is my preferred retreat skill when my initiatives are down. If I already have some distance, ranged won’t hit me and melee will still have to catch up first (which crippling prevents .. half )
Thieves guild, great for turning tides in a group fight or again, running away. Somehow I like my elites when I need an escape lol …
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
The thief is traited for healing in stealth. Prevent him from stealthing and he won’t be able to heal himself. He’ll probably run Blinding powder and Shadow refuge
BP: Can’t be stopped, lasts only 3 seconds and takes 40 seconds to recharge. Probably the last skill he will use when in trouble
Shadow Refuge: Has a casting time so you can block it (he wields a scythe while casting). Also you can fear him when it’s used, so he runs out of the area and gets unstealthed
Then there is cloak and dagger / Hide in shadows
Cloak and dagger will be his primary skill for stealthing, it needs a very close melee range to hit. Like previous posts have said, it’s a pretty easy skill to detect. Dodge it, cripple him, blind him. Just don’t let it hit you and he’ll have to resort to the skills described above.
Hide in shadows is his healing skill, it has a 30s CD. Great healing, 3s stealth and regeneration. If you still have your own healing skill when he uses this skill, you’ll have a pretty decent chance to survive. Interrupting this skill will also be a good idea.
Now about the conditions he put on you. As a necro I thought conditions were easily negated? At least that’s what I’ve heard, never rly took time to understand the necro. His dmg output comes from bleeding, which originates from “Vital shot” and sneak attack. If you can stop him from stealthing he won’t be able to use sneak attack which is his strongest tool for killing ppl.
Now the problem arise when you are not alone and not coordinated. A good P/D thief uses the multiple enemies to be able to keep using c&d. Alone he has only 1 target to get his stealth from. A coordinated group solves this problem though.
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
Infiltrator’s arrow’s blind is useful if you are not running away but running through.
You have to run from point A to B and you see an enemy approach you frontal? Use IA where he’s standing and continue on. His first attack will miss because of the blind and you passed him without damage (and thus without movement reduction)
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
I don’t see how any thief can sit here and argue that Steal is a bad class only skill… it gives you access to some of the best skills in the game (hello Whirling Axe and Consume Plasma). Of course I am talking pvp here. You can’t just sit here and be all “oh well it’s basically just a shadowstep!!!!111” because it isn’t. Depending on the situation, it gives you some pretty overpowered options to choose from for that class skill. Likewise it allows you to use 2 stolen skills by saving one from a previous fight.
Now what I won’t argue about is the fact that the thief class itself is just relatively boring. The steal mechanic itself is BORING. It really feels like they didn’t know what to do for f1 skills for the class (outside of the initiative system) so they just threw something in. And honestly, the whole thief class design as a whole is a bit lacking.
Fiction case (though it’s what I do when saving allies)
Playing 5v5 in wvw
An ally of your’s get downed
You see a 4 of them running to him to finish him, one is a necro
You steal necro, use fear, stealth and revive your ally
In the meanwhile 3 of your other teammates are bashing on the one person that didn’t run to your ally. Probably finishes him on time.
Fight becomes a 5v4. You are on the winning side, just don’t screw it up now
Yes, steal is probably my favourite skill
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
I have a similar problem with bow and steal stealth. With a melee weapon, 99% of the time I become stealthed my auto-attack correctly cancels and I do not unstealth, however with a bow sometimes I do.
I think it might be because you have a projectile (in this case, bullet) en-route to the target before you become stealthed, then the bullet hits the target while you are stealthed, and since you just dealt damage to an enemy while stealthed, you become revealed. Maybe.More testing would be needed but I bet this is why. It would be nice if stealthing didn’t cancel on an auto attack that was already on the way to the target before you actually stealthed.
Your theory is correct, for that exact reason: Never use clusterbomb when stealthing after it. Also never use auto attack on your weapon as a thief … Unless you’re bashing a gate and eating some popcorn…
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
Seeing underleveled person chasing you (the thief) on his own … I just wait ‘till I’m sure no one can save him, turn around and gank him. Facepalm whenever ppl break the fundamental rule in wvw … “stay in group”
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
I’m a thief, and personally, the only character I avoid fighting against during WvW (in 1v1 I’d try, but never during a zerg fight), are guardians … Sure I know how to escape them when they are going to beat me to pulp if my utilities aren’t on CD, but I can’t defeat them. (Just want to add, with my build it’s hard to actually have my utilities not on CD since I use them during the fight..)
Just wanted to add my 2 cents
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
Only bad thing is that after the 20s cd, your trap disappears if not triggered. Ofc most of the time you use the skill in fight, which means it’ll trigger immediately. But it’s less effective in terms for trapping a place while waiting for enemies. Not that the other traps are actually good for that :P

For those who wanted assassin from GW1 back. That class will give us even more crying. An asssassin in GW1 that didn’t kill in 3 seconds, wasn’t a threat.
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
They make noise?
Wait let me rephrase myself, there is noise in GW2? O.o… I should play without music more often :o
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
. Really though, they should have just named “f1” assassinate, and called the kitten class assassin and gotten it over with(poison traps, venoms, backstabs, come on now).
Assassin is a class from GW1 that originates from Cantha (the isolated province, you can read lore about it in game somewhere, can’t remember where)
Anet stated, when they announced the thief, that they wanted to call them assassins but couldn’t because of confusion between the cathan assassins and the tyrian thiefs. Assassins could only be trained if you were in cantha. Since that place is isolated, all thiefs in GW2 are NOT trained in cantha and thus, are not assassins
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
I am curious myself, I hope any thief with a legendary can answer with few screen shot.
Btw, would it make more sense to create Incinerator (since you can either be your main or offhand) instead of Bolt?
Also incinerator skin > bolt

Tired of sitting and waiting for a 5th person to join in a dungeon party? You want to play a dungeon but can’t be arsed to spam messages?
Dungeon Nation [LFG] might be the solution for you!
With 9 equal ranks you can just edit your own rank to the respective dungeon you want to play and look for players with the same intention.
This is a server-independent guild and everyone can invite anyone.
This guild doesn’t offer any community or guild upgrades. It’s just and only for finding dungeon members.
Interested? Contact Catlonely or Seren Ainia for an invite.
PS: this is an EU guild

I used all skills right now. Artillery barrage is not worth it imo. You’re better of using #5 on Charrzooka for that. So to answer the post: Warband support is definitely more fun.
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
best strategy’s in WvW :
-hide near enemy’s spawn point, and wait for the first low lvl
kill him and /dance-run near enemy’s keeps /towers and hit dors to mark them
Loled at first one
And don’t we all do the second one? If there was a stolen item with “cow kitten” in it, I’d drop it in front of the door as well

I was going to write something here about my setup in dungeons, but instead of that I’m just going to point something out.
NightyNight, punctuation marks are placed directly after the last word in a sentence and not against the first word of the next sentence. I don’t want to lecture about it, but after reading several of your texts my head actually hurts. It’s not like you do it occasionally, you do it every time … This has nothing to do with English grammar since all languages uses the same rules for punctuation.
I’m off now, cheerio
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
No, see, the strength of P/P is that you use Black Powder, and then get blind combo fields from pistol’s auto-attack to just keep re-applying it to a single target. It re-applies blind if you just stand in it, which is what most Sword/Pistol users are used to, but it gets some extra perks from using a pistol instead.
Still, I’m not really worried about it. Black Powder is borderline overpowered in PVE because your enemies are too stupid to do anything but run directly at you. A smart PVP player will figure out a few ways to punish you for using such an obvious tactic though, and because Black Powder is so expensive you probably won’t be in much of a position to fight back.
If this becomes a flavor of the month tactic I’d be… Surprised and disappointed. Backstab is overpowered indeed.
After playing a lot against those pesky veteran rogues in WvW, I just use Scorpion Wire as soon as I see a black powder fall and start my combo.
If I was a mesmer using focus as off hand, I’d use the swiftness/cripple/vortex thing skill right when I see a black powder fall, hit him once (to clear the blindness) and start with whatever he wanted to do any way.
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
Scorpion wire is always in my setup when playing wvw honestly … It’s just too bloody fun Sure it sucks if I miss and get into a CD.. But I can live with it.
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
If they fixed that, stealing would also interrupt C&D
Right now Steal is a “skill” you can use that doesn’t interrupt anything at all.

Withdraw, SoS, Blinding powder, Scorpion wire
I’m amusing myself in WvW with this setupKept a group of 2 warriors and 1 ranger busy just shadowstepping around and always focus attack on 1 person ’till he died … too bad my initiatives ran out after that
Ha this sounds great. I love withdraw, what armor stats are you rocking with this?
I don’t have an armour for it yet. Right now I’m just running full explorer set.. Probably would go for beserker set though. And if I wasn’t using pirate runes, I’d probably go for runes with vitality ’cause this setup runs low on health.
Been playing it more today, I rly like S/D right now Saved me against some d/d setups few times just because I kept interrupting them and shadowstepping when they got stealthed.

1) I run in guild but I still use MF .. No one complains because I get the job done
2) If you are in an inactive guild, join an active one? Multi-guilding is possible! Is it perhaps possible that you’re guild/party members does NOT run with magic find? Don’t you think that they are doing more than you? In other words picking up the slack.
Well it’s all good right, because they’re you’re guild members. Surely, in a big guild, at least 4 people are sitting in LA looking to run dungeons and waiting for you to show up. ( I am in a big guild btw, 300+ members 80+ online at primetime)
We recently played against Subject Alpha. I’m the only one who could survive the whole ordeal, making it possible for them to respawn and run back without him getting health back. I don’t think they are doing more then me. The only difference my MF set does with a non-MF set is that I don’t have more critical dmg and I have 90 less power. It doesn’t change a lot.
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
Anet wanted to call us assassins, but this would cause confusion with the Cathan Assassins from GW1: Factions. We aren’t originated from them, so Anet decided to call us thiefs
This would make the mug-steal combo OP. The stolen items are handy imo. Not always in every situation. But they can be handy, especially if you know what item you’ll get. In WvW it’s easy to figure what your item will be. When a friend is down, I always steal from a necro before going to revive him. If someone tries to attack us, I use fear.
And last but not least: I actually agree on more weapons.
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]

Boss fight: Hide in shadows, Shadow refuge, Smokescreen, blinding powder
Normal : Hide in shadows, shadow refuge, smokescreen, battle roar
The utilities are primarily for granting aoe stealth so I can take off some heat of ppl who are downed or low on health. Shadow refuge is something I always cast infront of ranged ppl so they have lifesteal.
My traits are this way because I play a BS build in WvW, and I’m too lazy to keep switching traits. Mostly use shortbow during dungeons
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
Funny how these attachments show numbers that would instant kill me in WvW. Yet I’ve never actually seen these numbers when fighting a thief …

Scorpion wire, great skill to take out certain people. Especially when you’re in a party and can call the target before pulling.
As a charr thief: Battle roar on auto-attack
Jump in front of a group attacking the gate, use caltrops, retreat (if needed with shadowstep)
Smokescreen in front of your group when enemy/ally uses daggerstorm or other long-during ranged attack
Shadow refuge on the ranged allies, gives them lifesteal

We left a teammate dead for several minutes because we weren’t sure what “a checkpoint” is (there is no clear indication you got to a checkpoint). We got to a point that we actually all died .. and it seemed that the place we died at was a checkpoint
After that we realized that:
1) At every difficult spot there is a checkpoint
2) Whenever someone dies, they mostly respawn somewhere, where it’s possible to revive
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
The blizzard storm, I loved the concept of getting warmth They should’ve make it a bit more difficult though, so that you could actually die from freezing if you don’t do it right..
