Well if there are many other potentially returning players such as me who quit the game due to the massive shortcomings that have been here since Beta when it comes to build variety in PVE, then it has everything to do with the expansion from a financial perspective. This is supposed to be the “Big Sell” for getting people like me back into the game, and they’re already botching it by bringing so much attention to the game at a time when it’s least presentable to new players (between the NPE, Trait rework, and completely incoherent story if you missed LS Season 1). Trying to get my friends into the game right now is just an exercise in prolonged apologies, convoluted explanations of systems they don’t understand and I barely recognize, and promises that “It’ll get better!”
And while all those are forgivable, I’m holding off on throwing any more money at the game before seeing if ANET can at least decide to wake up and address a huge problem at the core of their mechanics.

Guild wars balances around pvp, believe me when I say that is how they balance things.
So rather than having actual skill matter in the fight, it would be all about grinding abilities to ez mode the fight?

Should really hear anet’s idea on fixing condition damage in pve now that an expansion to the game is coming, this isn’t something i think masteries is going to fix now. Or is it?

Anet could probably make a good amount of money if they just decide to have permanent entrance contracts, where, for 1000 gems each, you can enter super adventure box, queens pavilion, wintersday, etc etc. That way they make money, people play when they want. Win win. Why are we not funding this?
I don’t need to say all of the problems condition damage has in this game, especially the balance between pvp and pve, and I feel its odd that after 2 years of no fix in sight, there is an expansion to the game and still no mention of a fix in sight. So even with new professions and specializations, there is still going to be direct damage for groups. Is there any fix or attempt in the works? Will conditions still not be viable?

It is really simple.
Active offense scales with stats.
Active defense normally does not scale with stats.Quick fix.
Instead of skills making you invincible, they massively increase toughness
Total Endurance scales with vitality
Endurance regeneration scales with healing power.Bam done. Zerker meta broken without nerfing zerker damage.
Yet the slow attacking, 1 shot mechanic, corner stacking AI still would exist.
The issue is more on a content design level than it is on a stat balance level.
Here’s an example:
You have enough energy left for one dodge.
Your enemy attacks once for 15,000 AoE damage.
You dodge it, damage taken = 0. All tank stats ignored.Lets try this again with a new improved PvE:
You have enough energy left for one dodge.
Your enemy attacks twice for a total of 15,000 non-AoE damage.
You dodge the first attack but did not have enough energy for the second.
Damage taken = 7,500. You wish you had a tank in your party that would take the aggro instead.I’m not saying every enemy should avoid AoE and attack really fast, I’m saying NOT every enemy should stand around and do slow AoEs.
This would limit builds, not create build diversity, this has been said thousands of time before.
Elementalists F skills do 0 damage, come on ANET, get your game together! And thief ones sometimes do 0 damage too! Guardians? Need I go on!
Bring it back permanently please, no more time locking this thing! There is no benefit to locking this up forever.
Depends of if they release SAB permanently. Otherwise, will probably wait to when they do.
I too am afraid we won’t be getting anything, not even SAB until the expansion, that is just way too harsh a blow. Most we will probably get is another wvw tournament… again…

PvE of course, was thinking since i mostly do pug, it might be better to just run strength fulltime instead since i may not be keeping scholar up 100% of the time, and strength is better for solo’s.

Reason I ask is that before, there was around 3k dps difference, between meta and phalanx, which was offset due to the increase in power for the rest of the team. Since now everyone is losing 125 power, is it a breakeven point?
After the might nerf, would the team wide dps loss from might be bigger than if a warrior did meta build? Considering making a phalanx warrior but not sure if it would be wasted come next patch.

Whispers is much better than vigil, you will thank us later, priory is second. Vigil is horrible.
Could do a sort of LS2 boss room A.K.A. capcom boss blitz, fight the fun bosses one after another or one a day for a daily.
An important thing to keep in mind is that ascended is only useful in level 80 zones, the second you are downleveled to 79, you lose your ascended investment.

I do agree those traits look golden, much better than the stuff we have now.
I like it, could even have it increase stats or something, give perma protection, perma vuln stacks on enemies, a sort of tutorial to the dungeon path while you see mechanics and whatnot, learn boss encoutners, then go to the real thing in hardcore mode!
Why is there a limit I wonder? Maybe they thought no one in their right mind would have 64 different characters, thats 8 from each profession.
I too would like them to fix the condition cap in parties and bosses. Somehow. Make it transfer to a % of direct damage or something?
We need a dev that plays necromancer and see if they get taken out of coma status.
You would be using staff for berserker meta?
I think a rework on lifesteal mechanics, make it party wide, fix the vampire signet to actually be worth using, and a sort of ferocity buff can help. Make spectral wall absorb projectiles?
Necromancers with group lifesteal potential would be a good party contribution, something like the signet heal but actually useful, as well as maybe a ferocity buff in line with spotter or empower allies.
With that said, mesmers need some sort of damage buff (be it personal or phantasm) to get in line with other professions, and necromancers need lots of help.
Necromancers baddong, everything else is fine.
What about nemesis’ hybrid necro?
It will probably be outputting 20k dps in 10 seconds, give or take 5k.
