I was thinking about ranger one, where pet gets 30% critical damage increase which is scary.
So reading up on the next patch and how the changes would affect optimal teams, was wondering which professions are getting hit hardest by it.
From what I have read so far, fully buffed with banners / food / spotter / bloodlust
elementalist is losing something like 29% damage,
Guardian 11%
Warrior around 14% – 17%
What about other classes like ranger, mesmer, thief and engi? How will the damage per profession look like next patch?

Seem’s like all of these rebalance traits are pvp focused again? Are there going to be any pve trait rebalancing to make certain classes more appealing to pve groups (necros, engies and ranger sword autoattack fix?)
Necromancer in CoF1 group. I originally thought he was trolling but it seemed he believed what he was saying:
He was a minion master siphon pvt necromancer that out damages zerker warriors because his autoattacks hit for 2500 and his minions siphon 80-90 damage. His healing stat made him hit harder. His build was 20/30/20.
He couldn’t believe warriors could get 10kdps… I just went into shock.
Sounds like you got some great pug runs, try your luck at the pug roulette again, who knows?
Reason I think we should test blasting staff, other than increased aoe on lava font / fireball, is that it could be up to a 20k+ burst in those fights that mobs already die super fast. Not sure if casting the meteor shower vs a wall would increase this number exponentially.
How much does blasting staff affect meteor shower damage?
Completely on the money there Da Beetus.
LoS? what does that mean? “Line of sight” comes to mind, but that doesn’t really make sense here
By doing the line of sight, you can burning retreat into a wall, doing a good amount of damage.
Earth also has a 10% when within 600 range of a mob, if LoS’ing the mobs, this will increase all your damage including burning retreat.
There are many different builds to test for mesmer, 30/30/0/0/10 and the likes.
Thanks for the tests.
It’s assumed you need to provide Fury as well. If I were just focusing on dmg, I’d go 0/20/25/25/0, or 10/10/25/25/0 if I wanted Conjurer. You lose DPS via Comet, but it’s also assumed that Comet is necessary to upkeep maximum might. You wouldn’t use it if pre-stacking.
I did a few rough computations. This pure DPS setup 10/10/25/25 with assumed max might banners food and all that stuff, actually do a lot less than 30/20/10/10 without bolt to the heart.
I always could be wrong, care to do the math on your end, do a comparison and please let us know?
Maybe 25/10/10/25/0
did you even think about it and roughly put the numbers in your head before posting this? i would guess no.
Don’t trust what i say, rather don’t trust all my results or anyone’s. Do the work yourself to verify
I assume that keeping the 10% damage mod from full endurance to not be up 100% of the time except for certain encounters, so I like to not depend on it.

If dps is a problem, odds are the other people aren’t pulling their weight either, especially cof.
Just do the greens and do CoF1 everyday and you will be good. Maybe a CoF2. Slowly gear it out and get ascended trinkets while you are at it by doing guild missions and such.
Would be interesting to see if the 4% heal mantra > an extra phantasm (signet of ether use).
Henceforth, the internal cooldown is 10 seconds long if i’m correct. So yea…
Probably for the challenge. Practicing for the solo healshout war lupi solo
A somewhat band-aid to our now nerfed aoe weakness, we can use the corrosive poison cloud, which should give above 20 seconds of weakness when you factor in enfeebling cloud. It’s not omg deepz but it’s something for those high end fractals maybe.
@Nike, I had no idea RHS would be that good, correct me if i’m wrong, this assumes sword camping, not using greatsword for burst? Would this be using perception or bloodlust sigils?
Does it include Unscathed Contender?
I’d imagine you can keep maybe 5 to 6 conditions on a mob (bleed, vuln, poison, burning) should be consistent, maybe cripple blinds and such will also increase the damage, maybe up to 8.

Guardians are fine, l2p.
With this new update, would it be better to go full zerker now rather than (i think) rampager or rabid for dungeon speed clear groups?
Please take a look at the new Necromancer skill. It’s a load of dog kitten.
The worst healing skill among the new ones… Litany of wrath is far better than necro’s new skill.
I think ranger spirit is on par with necro in terms of badness
rather have a shout heal warrior than the typical pug thief, met one a few days ago who proudly pinged his full clerics + ruby orbs, with 0/0/30/30/10 and said he was a dps thief
How about those pistol/pistol shortbow thieves?
Not as good as those pistol/pistol thieves. With missing trinkets.
The balance patches revolve around pvp, there is no input from pve players, hence, there is no real pve endgame.
A Pugs life..
That sounds like a crappy situation but it looks like you tried to make it better in the end.
I do love the LFG tool though for helping me get through Fractals. it seems every time at least 1 or 2 people rage quit and then are replaced with better people. Not saying that’s the case this time obviously.
I do think there may be some rage quitters, or an unanimous vote to kick some one the group thinks isn’t pulling his / her weight in the hopes of getting some one that will carry them. At the end of the day, puggin fractals is dangerous.
Very solid advice up top. Also a great thread for guardian pve dungeon:
I thought a fun idea would have a sort of raiding system where you are allowed to have only one of each profession in the dungeon/raid. Sort of like a 8 person instance.
Might be doable with fire greatsword rush, although not 100% sure on that.
What is it you would like to do? If it is dungeons and general pve, Obal has a great guide. Berserker is the way to go for fast and smooth dungeon runs and is fun to play since it keeps you actively dodging and watching for attacks.

For WvW, i think PVT is the norm but that isn’t really my strong suit. Maybe could use cleric there.
Nightelight from TC, great commander, and zerg destroyer. Thank you for your service!
Please just remove at least 3/4 of the dredge in this fractal and it will be a fun enjoyable experience with challenging mechanics.
If you want other dps classes, ele is top dog. Mesmer sometimes can be good dps.
Heck probably an ice bow barrage could take care of that problem.
Ah, so for example I could use ele scepter 1 to burn stacks off the fire storm while the rest dps’d the zerker?
i suspect earth is better at that
It is not:
- Arc lightning has 10 attacks in 4 seconds (2.5 attacks per second, plus Lightning strike)
- Stone shards has 3 attacks in 2 seconds (1.5 attack per second)
(approximately)
Not only that, you also have 2 insta-casts, (not sure if blind removes a stack of enraged though) but #2 should.
I read the OP’s tittle as Skritt, and I agreed, why are there skritt in there?
Get the berserker gear, even in dungeon runs with pugs, the damage you will deal out will surpass anything else and make for a much more enjoyable dungeon experience. Otherwise, said dungeons will seem “broken” and hard.
And yes, if you are the only zerker in the pug none zerker group and you die, say halfway through a battle, you would have probably contributed more to the boss dying than the rest of the group that stays alive for 5 more minutes.

Life is more than just math and numbers mate. You HAVE to add in the human factor, which is probably the biggest game changer there is.
Not everyone plays the same way you do.[/quote]
Not sure why but this sounds like one of those “believe in yourself you can overcome anything” or “the heart of the cards” sort of mantra’s. You could fly in an airplane, or you could fly with bird feathers glued to your arms. Although it will probably be more nonsensical and not at all good idea to do it with the bird feathers.
So molten facility and aetherblade will be a short / medium combination, length wise.
Any fix or update on this, workarounds?
Same thing happened to me on two of the puzzles I need. Still no fix?
Their passives are not all that, to get the best use out of virtues you gotta activate em, and even trait for em. Justice can give blinds + 3 might stacks when activate and refreshes on mob death. The others can give condition removal + regen / Aegis + protection to a group of people. The passives are really just icing on the cake.
Would you keep the damage boosts from your weapons in that form? Like sigils and the flat stat boosts?
I’m guessing you would, did notice a drop in some damage due to rampaging taking away adrenaline bar, so that’s 15% less damage. Did see some 20% damage increase though while rampaging than without.
None rampage was ticking for 780’ish, Rampage for 1k.
Need more tests in actual pve content and not heart o the mists.
I’m curious weather Eugene’s nearly 100% crit chance guardian build would be more supportive / better dps than the omg green numbers paladin build. Since Eugene has perma chill and massive burst potential!
Food for thought, must test in game!
Has anyone group tried a speed run in all PVT gear just to see the difference in time for any given dungeon. Say CoF P1?
They probably will do it even faster, since them pvt people aren’t always downed or dead like them zerkers!!! I’m guessing clerics gear would go something like that 44 minute cof run they posted earlier.
Always take screenshots of pug runs, and report them.
I’m sorry, got confused, i thought arcane lightning does not stack with discipline banner?
So those 10 in air are not that great?Never heard of such behavior
My god I have been living a lie, need more deepz! Also thanks for all your contributions, its fun seeing the math. Also for all the staff vs LH debate, they both have their contributions, i’m sure i will enjoy both!
