Have you guys tried running some dungeons after the update? I felt that AC was a lot easier than before, the bosses seemed to have less HP too. Same for Arah, Lupi went down pretty fast, even without a min-max full zerker group

Makes no sense, right? Why can a necro AoE cond the whole enemy team and have them all dead and be called a hero while a thief kills key targets and is called a noob?
I have to admit this is one of the least rewarding games I’ve ever played. You skip monsters because they simply give no reward, and it delays the run (that’s generally not rewarding either for long or hard dungeons like CoE)
About the bosses, you have to understand that warrior is the strongest class in the game, and ANet makes everything to keep them the best around. The problem is that they can’t deal so much damage to moving targets, so “stack there so I can deal damage”. Making res/healing easier is just a bonus

There sure is, but you probably missed it. What is happening is that making a legendary weapon with just playing and dropping the items is almost impossible because of the drop rates
You need a specific kind of weapon, exotic quality (drop chance is getting a bit low), and it’s a specific exotic (among a lot of them). It’s a bit unrewarding and underwhelming imo
Well, I’ve heard many stories about players that barely started the game and dropped pretty rare items, even precursors
On the other hand, I could find one only once with a 300% magic find boost, with close to 1k hours
So yeah, I think this RNG stuff is broken and the game is not rewarding people for their hard work, but that’s life right?
When Diablo 2 was released, it wasn’t as great as it is now. I remember the community saying the game was terrible, that it wasn’t going to be played. But the game got a lot of updates and improved to a point that “Diablo” became a synonym of success
Diablo 3’s release was terrible as well (Blizzard is excellent on that I think), but the community feedback helped the game to take the right direction, and the expansion can prove that is true
GW2 was an outstanding game on the release. I myself played it almost the whole year (bought it on jan/2013 and quit on set-oct/2013).
ArenaNet started updating the game, with good and bad stuff, but the game got more and more like a grind game than something to have fun, and more you were forced to play Guardian or Warrior because they are simply the best classes in the game for PvE.
I hope all that “listen to community” gives us some hope and let us play the game to have fun again
With no offense, guys, this just proves how much a nerf is really needed for zerkers. A boss that should last several minutes shouldn’t die that fast. By killing it that fast, a group can ignore most of the mechanics of the fight and have a faceroll while the other “play how you want” people would have to deal with a lot more problems. That’s not now a problem of choice, it’s a problem of game balance.
Nevertheless, 7 seconds was an impressive time for this.
Don’t say that. The fight isn’t supposed to last several minutes. They used every smart strategy to kill it: reflection to avoid the AoE, a lot of might, and the whole pre-battle stuff like gear and traits
I think they may be able to kill it without armor actually to prove you that “play how you want” people deny to think about the situation. Read it again, “play how you want”, it sounds so selfish, “I play like this, and I won’t change because I want to do it this way. I paid for the game and I play it how I want”
And to finish this, nerfing zerker does not make other stats more viable. There are no healers, so heal. power is useless, there are no tanks, so vit and toughness are almost useless, and it won’t make conditions deal more damage.
Such a lack of creativity, man. Spend them all on those exotics and rares, salvage for profit$$$

Healing is useless because we have no trinity, and investing in defense makes even less sense because you are going to survive 2-3 more hits than a glass cannon, and deal 1/6 of the damage

Just stop that, we know the problem already. Stop saying your gear is now broken, and that won’t stop people from using zerker. They should fix combat/apply trinity, but well, dungeon subforums is full of good suggestions to improve dungeons and nothing has been done. Don’t get your hopes too high
Guardian would probably be the most played class, and eles would see some gameplay changes since they can both deal damage and support better than now
If you are playing rangers because you like archers, you are probably playing the wrong game, just saying – play how you want, ok, it doesn’t matter
They changed MFind and we could select your stats. They are obviously going to chance crit and berserker stuff, and will let us select your stats again. They are aware that we spent time, money and effort to get geared
Well, an expansion takes time to make. It must have some relation with the lore, new areas (big ones, and those are pretty hard to make, lots of details), new enemies and maybe new mechanics, new classes/races maybe (also have to think about a nice kit of skills for weapons and utilities and balance traits)
If we already have problems with the game, why spend time creating new stuff instead of working on stuff that will make future plans easier?
Stop asking for a expansion, there’s the gems store to spend your money already.

To show how this game needs a super computer to run it on max quality, and still is not graphically good as some other games we have that doesn’t require that much to be beautiful
Idk much about the WvW meta, maybe it doesn’t even have a meta. But your gear depends a lot on your class and the way you play it
A backstab thief spends a lot of time roaming and stealthed, so berserker might be better for hard-hitting. Control warriors make a good frontline, and they have a huge hp pool, so power+toughness is better imo
So, why it happened? I know it was almost full of “capes, mounts and houses/guild halls”, but there were nice suggestions there. Any thoughts on this? And maybe someone from the staff could talk to us a bit about the forum changes too
Good that you asked, I’ll try my best to explain:
- When you want to hit hard, power is probably the most important stat. The damage calculation involves enemy armor, but you can’t change that; that means more power = more damage
- There’s another way to boost your damage: critical hits. Criticals deal 150% of base damage, and you can get more crit damage to hit even harder. If you have +30% crit damage, your critical hits will deal 180% of base damage
And finally you have crit chance. Pretty straightforward, it’s the odds of dealing a critical hit
- Berserker vs PVT: both have the same amount of power, but berserker armor can help you deal more damage because it has precision – increases crit chance – and crit damage. If you had no crit chance, it’d be better to get PVT (you don’t crit, why make it stronger if you can’t use?)
- Same rule for Knight vs PVT: Knight has precision, so you have chance to deal more damage even without extra crit damage – don’t forget that crits deal 150% damage
And those formulas to check how much damage you will deal… I just don’t like that. The imprecision is big since you don’t deal a fixed amount of damage, it has a “damage window” – that’s why weapons have “x – x+y” damage

A lot of people say henchmen/heroes can’t be done, the AI will be bad, it will kill teamwork & socializing, that’s all speculation.
If it follows the same npc/pet “intelligence”, so it’ll be bad. And “teamwork & socializing” is almost non-existent since people only want to make fast and easy money, no one cares about the other, just “5k+ AP full zerker lvl 80 know how to play, only guards and wars (mesmers maybe)”
On the other hand, I think every dungeon should be redone:
- Add difficulties so new players can learn better without being punished
- Rethink the reward values; AC is easier and faster than CoE, but guess where you can get more money
- Make some dungeon paths smaller (fractals included). A lot of people can’t play 3-4 hours a day, and some paths may take up to a hour to finish. See how you wasted too much time to get facepalming rewards?
- Fix problems. Exploit here, skip there, stack then. This isn’t the way we should run dungeons, but sometimes there is too much trash on the way (Arah p1) that there’s no reason to stop and kill
Hell, with so many nice suggestions, why isn’t anything done? Oh of course, we aren’t paying for gems, so there’s no problem to lose some players that won’t spend money
Thief for sure. Everyday someone goes to thief subforum to complain how OP thieves are, that stealth is totally OP, backstab is OP, and it’s the only class that has been constantly nerfed since game release
Rangers are just fine, the players are the ones to be hated
I totally agree with you, but there’s a tiny problem: warriors can’t do their full burst damage if the target is moving (and that’s why GS is probably the worst weapon for a warrior 90% of times), and PvE is all about damage
If you don’t let one of the only useful PvE classes do what they were made to do, well, guess you know the answer. Things get ridiculous when people just think about making money and speed runs – and all that “only zerker lvl 80 full exotic” stuff is the consequence
And actually, stacking can make ressing even harder. Go fight the Spider Queen, and try to stop and res an ally while the boss is constantly attacking the whole group. There’s hardly any reason to stack imo

A lot of things have been done right when the game was released. The combat flows well, there’s no competition for items in dungeons, lots of events and people to help thanks to dynamic leveling, and the list goes on
Bringing more content to the game is an excellent point. Even though it seems rushed sometimes, when things are made right, well… I just can’t describe how I enjoy playing the game
And there’s no p2w. Buying gem items won’t make you stronger, or more this, more that. I really like that
There’s still room for improvements, so I hope they hear the players a bit more and make better decisions
Pretty much depends on how you play. I prefer getting vitality, but toughness has a synergy with earth builds
If you just play pve, power gives you a better chance to survive
Not only necros are kicked for being necros, and the problem can be solved without boosting dps since that would ruin pvp – aka the point of game balance
Another disadvantage is that they have subpar utility. Heavy armored classes can constantly buff the party and bring damage, for example. There’s no need to bring a class that has limited potential
The whole PvE system could use some changes to make necros, engineers, rangers more effective; make healing gear more interesting, and even defense more meaningful
I think it’d be awesome to have more skins for each dungeon, maybe just the set skin (no stats) with a reduced token cost, but this guy said everything:
Why they would give new armor skins for “free” dungeon tokens when they can just sell them for 800 gems. I don’t see this changing.

Blind doesn’t stack intensity, only duration, which is also useless since it wears off after an attack
And I agree with OneManArmy, blinds are one of thief’s mechanics to avoid damage. Go nerf necro instead, 5 seconds of pure big AoE blind

There’s no reason to uncontest CoF anymore. Not sure if they did anything about this, but keep trying to walk inside, dodge too, and you can get past the “barrier”

2)You can get ascended boxes wherever ascended materials drop, even though I think the odds are better for the daily chest. You can drop ascended boxes from the loot chests from bosses, but I don’t think the big chests drop ascended mats – so no ascended gear
WvW matchups isn’t very “productive”, if you haven’t gone there before, you’re not missing anything
The dungeon sub forums is terrible, but there’s still some nice feedback here and there, though nothing is going to change (firing dungeon team is enough proof that dungeons won’t see any love imo)

And 7k per HS? I know it deals more damage the closer to death is the enemy, but if a HS can deal that damage, they should try CnD+Backstab for instakill against you (don’t forget to come back here and cry)

Well, and I was thinking that conditions were too strong. Necro applies some interesting amounts of bleeding and poison, then fill your condition bar with weakness and cripple so you can’t remove the damage dealing ones

Decided to search about that before answering. The numbers below are from lvl 80 zerker light head armor
Rare armor stats:
- Defense: 65
- Power: 40
- Precision: 28
- Crit damage: 2%
Exotic armor stats:
- Defense: 73
- Power: 45
- Precision: 32
- Crit damage: 2%
Ascended armor stats:
- Defense: 77
- Power: 47
- Precision: 34
- Crit damage: 2%
OK, as you can see, there’s some difference between rare and exotic. If you compare chest armor, the difference is a bit bigger, but from exotic to ascended, this difference is ridiculous against from rare to exotic
So 1) Ascended armor is extremely expensive to craft and time-gated. 2) The stats difference does not make it worth expending the money. 3) Now that you can fuse AR infusions, there’s no more need for extra infusion slots
Answering your question: no, exotic is still viable; and I don’t see ascended armor as dungeon reward right now, it’d take more balance in its gold/reward for that
I don’t wanna sound like a jerk, but try and improve your writing skills, you can say a lot more with less words sometimes
Healing is in a bad spot now imo. The game was made so every class has a way to heal himself, so party heals are weak. Curiously, Protection reduces damage by 33% – that’s so much extra defense that healing again seems to be terrible
So yeah, dealing damage is way more effective than being supportive in most cases
Improving the combat log would be excellent, adding some colors too would help
That’s what you, I, and a lot of other people think, but selling dungeon spots is legal (ANet answered this, search a bit for the topic), and it won’t end if there are people buying
My suggestion: find a guild and run Arah
Why you ask. Why would it be illegal? I mean, they sure made dungeons to be rewarding (tried to), but this kind of content has seen no love since the AC changes (first half of the year)(no, the gold reward is not love, no balance between time-challenge/reward)
So dungeons are just that, people exploit and sell, and nothing has been done or will ever be, sadly
