You stopped my hardstyle for this, and I’m pleased xD
Lupi is such a troll, but gj, nice burst
Time gated stuff is terrible for progression. Doing dungeons and getting tokens once a day is ok, that depends on a team and your skill, and some other factors of course
For ascended mats, you can get them all really fast and still have to wait weeks to get all your gear crafted. Otherwise, spend more gold on TP, which is bad since you already have the materials to make what you need
Actually, the difference between ascended and exotic is really small, and crafting or dropping ascended stuff is terrible right now that keeping your exotics is a lot less stressful. And don’t forget that ascended gear is only worth getting if you run fractals
We should be able to buy ascended armor and weapons in FotM. Grind a lot of fractal relics, maybe add some +5 agony infusion and congrats, it’s a piece of ascended armor (btw, it looks terrible, that’s another point that prevents players from getting them)
We know that you are really really pro, if there was an achievement for not being hit by agony, you sure would have completed it every time you do fractals
But now you don’t need to buy AR anymore, you get it by simply doing fractals. So there’s no reason to come here and complain. Stop complaining and start thinking, sir. Actually, since you are really good and has no more to learn about the game, buy a book, reading is excellent
Here’s a rude answer for your rudeness, have a good day, and consider getting some AR since you don’t have to buy it anymore
But you can still complete your dailies without Solo or Team Arenas. If you want every AP possible, good luck
I am not sure aboutthe heal venom though in general HiS seems superior due to the condition removal.
That’s my thought, but this build seems to work a lot better with a team, so you will probably have someone curing conditions
To be honest, I like this build, and I’d like to try it on Team Arenas
This ninja trait could actually transfer the CC to your enemy while giving you stability and swiftness for 10 secs with a 60 sec CD
If Spiky Fruit doesn’t work in dungeons now, I guess the CoE P1 record is not valid anymore, or am I wrong? (looking at you Cookie)
That’s the idea. Now you have to fight normally
Now that dungeon tokens doesn’t occupy my inventory slots anymore, I can’t really see a reason to pay for this upgrade. And actually, 10 dollars for 250 extra items, that’s so overpriced.
I’d rather pay 10 dollars to get the cap increased to 1000 instantly
I’m not the best thief in the world, but one thing that really annoys me when fighting against mesmers is the massive clone creation + invisibility
The clones get in the way, and invisibility makes you lose target. Decoy is interesting imo, and if you have another clone, you can fool your enemy
Applying conditions is a good strategy too. Thieves condition removers have long CDs, and one of the best is a healing skill that they would probably use when mid-low hp. It also has a cast time, so you can disable him
Those are my tips, and good luck
If the ascended armor models are the same I saw on reddit some weeks ago, they look really really really really bad. The medium armor looks better than the others, but it’s still terrible compared to other sets
I’d like to see the changes on PvP first. Stopped doing dungeons for a while, but if the gold isn’t good in the killing players realm, I’d go back and grind a bit if the +stats are better than exotic (wouldn’t grind all the way to get extra 10 power)
Without stacking queen spider is a very challenging boss. You should try it
Just the opposite. A party full of lvl 35 new players (that means no alts) can handle the boss better than stacking
Ran AC with new players both in my guild and random PUGs. Not stacking was not as fast as stacking, but we ended up killing the boss without wiping
Even though the poison fields last longer, the spider queen will hardly have more than 3. Then you only need someone to get her attention and kite around so the others won’t take damage from the immobilizing web attack
I think it’s completely fair to rate players by their ability to help a team win.
I agree that the blame game can be an issue. However, people are figuring out that raging loses matches, while good communication wins matches. Also, you mention WvW, which is kind of funny because the WvW community is awful, and the tPvP community is relatively decent compared to other PvP communities.
Also, I’ve seen some really, really bad r50s.
But how helpful players are? You can find a guardian that provides good control and support, and then another that can only think about killing the enemy team and gets stomped when diving in the middle of a group of enemies
What I want to point is that you can play really really well and still lose the match and hurt your position while a worse player is getting carried up by his teammates. If there’s a way to judge the player performance as well, you may lose, but you still are rewarded by trying and playing well; just like the bad player won’t go too high getting carried
And that’s where all my "maybe"s enter. A rank 50 may be good, or not lol
It seems pretty difficult to play the blame game in GW2 without any kind of performance indicators. In MOBAS you get information like K/D/A ratios, total resources acquired, damage done, damage taken, etc.
As an MMO developer, do you purposely withhold information from the playerbase so people don’t get petty over the Ele on your team going 0-9 and doing no damage?
As they would say, it’s a slippery slope. But the line needs to be drawn somewhere. I think that damage taken & damage received would be welcome metrics. Not so much K/D/A stats for conquest, though.
The only resource we have now are the points. Capturing, killing, reviving, and doing objectives gives you points
So if your teammates have around 80-100 and you still have 20-30, you are not doing well
Btw, there should be more incentive for reviving allies. It’s really common in sPvP to be downed and see your team chasing one single enemy just to kill him
I’ve played many games with this “ladder system”, and it is by far the worst way to evaluate a player skill
Well, if you play Starcraft, for example, it totally depends on you: if you are good, you win and get better positions in the rank; otherwise, you go down
But imagine Guild Wars now, where you depend on other players to win. You can be an outstanding player, but if someone is playing poorly, you can end up losing the match and precious positions in the ranking
Not even that, but players start demanding more and more from others. Play a MOBA and see the “blame game” when a team is losing.
The level system has some flaws, but it may be closer to the real player skill. WvW is like this: play and get points, if you play a lot, you get new titles and experience. There sure is a difference between players of the same rank, but they probably play better than players in lower ranks
Just want to avoid an immature community and ragers. If you want to implement the ladder system, please think about it and come up with a way to judge the player not only by victories or defeats, but by his/her solo performance too
Should probably go Guardian, or even Warrior
Thief is awesome, really really strong, but both heavy classes bring so much more team utilty and about as much damage as thief (1k-3k difference without boons)

That’s my list. Not going to include fractals, haven’t played with the new instabilities yet
Hum… how about something like “Heaven or Hell” from DMC?
You have only the #1 skill and it’s melee ( ranging would be too easy :P ). You kill stuff in one hit and they one-shot you as well
Btw, you can only get fractals without lots of ranged mobs like uncategorized and ascalon
In the end, any class is good if you know how to play
Time to get this topic closed
Everyone just thinks about dark and creepy stuff. Change the pace a bit, let’s see how the other side is good
Just like going to church and pray to die and meet God. Time to face the devil, sinner
Let people test, “free” service (we actually paid for the game, so they get money to have us test lol)
I think that only p2 gives some trouble if you want fast tokens. P1 and 3 are kinda fast, but easier than 2
Don’t forget to bring reflects and cond removers btw, there are lots of ranged mobs and the assassins (can’t remember the name) can apply powerful bleeding/poison
You, I and a lot of people here can play, make mistakes and correct those – get better and better. But think about people who can barely dodge, they get crushed
No, I’m not protecting them, and I can tell you that ANet is listening to the wrong players aka those who can’t practice and get better
Fighting games. Check KOF, Street Fighter, Skullgirls, KI. I’ve played those a lot, can’t say I’m an awesome fighter, but I tryed
I read some forums and a lot of people complain about not being able to even attack, the enemy just close the gap and starts a infinite combo
I’ve also watched videos of great players and that’s true: get hit once and you probably just lost the round
But the companies that produce fighting games doesn’t make X or Y more or less strong because people complain. They study things first. I mean, why would you listen to a new player complaining about balance? Makes no sense
GW2 “casual” (casual doesn’t mean bad, but I can’t come up with another word) community is really big, and if they can’t have fun not playing well, they will just stop playing. “Losing 1 good player is better than 100 bad ones”
I’m not talking about Swiftness. I’m referring to actually the skills your target is casting.
If I’m not mistaken, every skill that has a cast time has a different animation (maybe there’s an exception, thinking about that right now). You don’t need more stuff on your screen if you can see the target
“But if he’s covered by other players?”
It’d be unfair, you could just tab and find the best target to interrupt. Deal with the surprise
That depends on fractal level and which fractals you get
Maw is pretty fast, and people tend to skip everything until they get to the boss
Longer fractals like dredge and the statue one takes around 20 mins at level 28. The shorter ones take no more than 10 minutes
A full run at level 28 takes around 50 mins – 1 hour with an average group generally
You know you could just probably go to the wiki instead of making someone here explain it to you…
It’s not written how long it takes to get the shiny fractal backpiece on wiki
Well, that depends. If you are lucky enough, you get the essences needed in no time
Then a lot more of fractals to get enough relics to buy the exotic backpiece, turn it into a ascended item, infuse and then make it shine
Ectos are always a problem, but you can buy those with gold
It shouldn’t take more than 200 hours I think. Maybe less than that, around 100 only
Ranger is wrong, he should be using a longbow
Not egoistic at all, you have a good point imo
Sometimes we want to take a new challenge, push our experience to the limits maybe, or just play alone (why not?). We could use more solo stuff than personal story
First, I’m sorry. I thought this was a troll/rage topic about you leaving the game because of elitism
And I see your point, really liked it, and I hope ANet reads it as they claim to do. There’s no point on punishing hardcore players. They are players just like casual ones, right?
Sure, you can’t make everyone happy every time, but some decisions seem to be poorly made, as if a last-minute solution :/
I came here to agree with you. I thought 2k hours was too much, but I got over 1k myself, so lol, ok
I got a precursor once. Only one time. During an event at the Crown Pavilion with 300% MF buff, and it wasn’t even the one I wanted
But you know what’s the real problem? “Progression”. Yeah, that word. You need 250 x, so you get one, two, three. That’s progression, and when you see that you got 50 of x, you get excited
Then you have 100, 150, 200, finally 250. Yeah, took some time, but you knew how far/close you were and getting just a bit more would let you wanting to work harder
Now see the precursor. It is one weapon in a lot of weapon kinds, from one specific rarity, among other thousands of weapons. Where’s the progression? You could play 2k hours and don’t get it, or play 50 hours and get it
I liked the changes, even though there’s no reward for people who got past lvl 30
But I’m afraid, I played both Molten Alliance and Aetherblade dungeons, and most PUGs gave up in the last boss fight because of the new mechanics
Sure, that’s something you can only get better playing, but imagine how many times you are going to end a fractal run without reward because your party was not able to kill Mai Trin?
I don’t like to sound elitism, but that fight used to be really punishing for even good players
Wish thieves had more viable builds than always going 30 points in Crit and get Executioner
Well, I had my doubts if warriors were really good, but after this video…
Gotta get back to leveling my warrior, bye guys
Btw, wish my pc could run WvW that well :/
Play AAA games on ultra and GW2 on very low and still lags lol
+1 for this, really really needed feature
many people just stop playing and doesn’t tell anyone about that, and others play in different hours (I know some guildmates are playing, but never seen them online)
I have divided ideas about that. We could use a “shared map” for lvl 80 toons. I mean, there’s no other reason to explore that map if you hit lvl 80 excluding the area completion rewards and the gift
But having a permanent gift of exploration would make stuff too easy. In the end, we could be rewarded with 2 gifts when finished exploring the map, use the map sharing and each other 80 toon get 2 gifts
Not sure it’s even a good idea, but idk, we can discuss this
Maybe they found some stuff to fix, and are doing the job before releasing the update instead of new builds every 2 hours
Aegis, cleansing, protection, AoE healing from water fields (that are pretty strong, actually, just not “lol i pressed 1 and my team is fully healed!” strong that most mmo players are used to), blinds, projectiles defenses
Aegis, reflection and cleansing are effective, but it’s hard to keep applying aegis to defend attacks, and reflections kinda force you to stay close to the skill area to work
Protection is good, but some monsters deal way too much damage, so you are going to get downed with 2-3 hits anyway. Same goes to blind, but the case here is that it loses effectiveness depending on the monster class
AoE heal from water field heals well, but you need blast finishers to use them. It’s awesome, but not really reliable
Good, every support skill has good and bad points, that’s normal. But think about a team, I hardly see a guardian with hammer, thieves with blinds, warhorn rangers. It seems that dealing damage is the most important thing
Helping others should be more rewarding
2 things really bother me when it comes to dungeons/PvE (expect a lot to read):
- Difficulty: Practice makes perfect, that’s true. But a new player gets a mail saying how awesome is Ascalonian Catacombs. He goes there at level 30 and does the story mode. Easy stuff, story is really enjoyable
Cool, now he is rewarded with the exploration mode. Well, I’ve seen people giving up running dungeons after their first experience. Even in AC, some fights are punishing and involve mechanics that new players have not yet mastered, like dodging.
Beginning of this year, path 1 was hell because players could not defend Hodgins, path 3 was hell because players could not kill burrows fast enough and were destroyed by a huge horde of gravelings.
And then people complain about elitism, but the own game doesn’t help new players improving in a friendly way
- DPS: I think 90% of players want to be the star of the team, deal huge amounts of damage. “Supporting is boring, stay behind and use skills to help who is dying, and you can’t fight back if something attacks you”.
PvE in general is poorly designed for the “no trinity” idea. You can dodge – “total invulnerability” – but you can’t help an ally who is in trouble because healing isn’t that effective and you can’t aggro the monster.
It’s either kill or get killed. Not forgetting that tanking is impossible. 22k hp and 3k armor, and a normal monster you find around is able to kill you without problems. “Why would you need armor if you can dodge? So you only need damage”.
Sorry if I made any mistake, but it’s my opinion about the game, and I’m trying to improve it since devs said they read the topics
HotW p1 today: looking for warriors/guardians – ok, a heavy and free boons, no prob
Since they had a mesmer, 2 wars and a guard already, I asked if I could run with my thief (didn’t want to change toons, and load thousands of times) and got “Is thief any good for this dungeon?”
Well, I really really really wanted to say something, but legend says you shouldn’t argue with idiots. Did my best to prove that thief is worth taking for a dungeon (one is enough, ninjas can only work well solo) – blinds, spammable blast for might, stealth, thrill of the crime and heavy damage (and a bit of projectile reflection)
“Zerker only” is facepalming. Just join the group, most of them don’t even ask you to link your gear. You can run full cleric, for example, and everyone is going to say “ty, good run” in the end lol
So don’t bother yourself with those kind of thing. Not excluding that some 1k people play better than 8k, remember that there are still a lot of good people running dungeons, and they don’t mind if you aren’t a heavy armored class in full zerker with 4k AP
Joining a guild that runs dungeons is my suggestion if you don’t have one
I was feeling like quitting the game, spent almost a month away and came back because there’s no other good MMO to play based on what I like doing (excluding MOBAs, can’t stop playing those)
And during a guild trek, a friend criticized me because I wasn’t able to help so much, map incomplete :/
So I decided that I had to complete the map. That done, and a lot of gold sitting on my inventory, I decided to go for a legendary
I don’t care for LS, it’s just getting boring, and people wants to zerg champions. So I’m just leveling other classes and getting money
Still got 3 classes to get to 80 and some other 2-3 months getting gold to finish my weapon, and leave the game for good if nothing else calls my attention (PvP is nice, but idk why, I can only play a few matches before getting tired of it)
I have a suggestion since we are on the suggestion forums: check some female armors TERA, Scarlet Blade and others have
Then come back here and tell us what you think of GW2
Every time I read “bearbow”, I feel really bad, bears are so cute and helpful. Why stupid rangers that go ranged weapons only have to ruin their popularity? T.T
Not able to do that. I think it’s because your account info is not “shared” – so NA is one thing, EU is another :/
Note if you can not see it the guardian is using scepter on the colossus
To answer your question, yes that was a bearbow in the pary.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s written that the colossus reflects projectiles, right?
I mean, it’s ok play how you want as long as you don’t complain after being kicked, but not knowing some stuff at lvl 10 fractal (you did jade maw at least 4 times) is too much for even someone who doesn’t know how to read lol
Guess this game is just too hard…
Ele has been an enjoyable class to play so far, and I’m only at lvl 22
Another class I enjoy a lot and have it at lvl 80 is guardian, and would probably be my main if I ever decided to abandon thief
I have to admit that what really makes me impressed is how fast lupicus goes down during the second stage. Not only in this video, but every time I watch a “speed kill”
Nice music btw
The elite is true and it’s here now :O
They were requested by players who took the time to read and input in the original thread to break it into sections such as WvW, PvE, and SPvP. This thread could be found in the General Forum a week before the WvW thread was presented.
Let me say it again, since you skipped the first part: Since WvW is “part of PvE”, there’s no way to merge servers without hitting both
PvE topic is about Living Story, and WvW is about World Population. World population is related to PvE too
This thread is not about generation of money. Its about exploits which need to be fixed.
oh, really sorry, but no one had stated any exploit yet, so I decided to discuss what’s the point of this topic and ended up talking about economy. It was worthwhile imo
[sarcasm on] They are going to remove Thief, since it’s too strong in PvP and WvW, and Warriors clearly outdamage them in PvE [sarcasm off]
We are probably going to be ninja stealth nerfed, but lets see
What mostly hurts living story is that most of it is going to a new temporary zone and farm with a zerg.
There sure is a bit of story behind it, but that is hardly noticeable since there’s no connection, nor is there something to make it interesting.
Right now, Scarlet is our villain, but she’s not important. There’s no sense of progression, so you can just expect her to appear and do something bad, then you have to fix it in 10 mins and farm for 2 weeks.
My suggestion here is making LS more impacting. “Scarlet is attacking that map”, if you don’t defend it, the landscape changes, more monsters appear (the clock monsters maybe), and everything gets stronger for a certain time. After that timer ends, a event happens so you can go there and try to free the land of evil.
