I played Rappelz as well, and this dungeon idea is great. But I think it should be done in a way that the percentage of gold the dominant guild earns wont affect the rewards we have now
I mean, if that lowers the prize from 50 silver to 40 silver, I’d probably stop running dungeons for money (no, I dont speedrun CoF, I prefer other dungeons)
Craft armor and sell, or salvage to get globs and sell them
Armor of same rarity have the same stats. So AC p/v/t set has the same stats as HotW one and the Exotic Armorsmithing armor
I dont really see a problem. You can return to lab and start everything again, it’ll take less time than doing the dredge fractal anyway
If you really want a fractal skin/pristine/tokens/money, just run lvl 20, really easy and fast
Ah…my eyes…no….paragraphs…
lol, yeah, I’d love to have him rewrite that with more paragraphs and talking less about how he builds his thief
I think it is a bad stat in guild wars 2 so far. Of course you want enough to not get one shotted but most people often just go for more toughness instead. Because even if you have 40k hp (exemple), if you dont have toughness, this hp will drop extremely fast and you arent able to fill it up.
Lol, there’s no need to read further than this. If you stack only toughness, you are useless as well, you need vitality to survive through conditions
Come on, am I missing something or is there really no new infusions?
Vendors in fractals also have nothing new. No skins. No new fractals.
What??
I agree with that, it’s be nice to have more infusions, get infused amulets and accessories.
Here’s your mistake: there’s no way to create a whole new fractal in one month. You have to plan everything: the area concept, monsters and skills, tasks and how to do them. Every single detail, and then start drawing the scenario, programming the whole thing to work well.
Take would take at least 4-5 months to do, and the result wouldn’t be great depending on the team
I don’t see how anyone could even get to 20 without using glitching or exploits. I just did Fotm lvl 16 and our last level was the giant with seals. We messed up on the glitch where you keep a certain chanter alive so a whole lot more don’t spawn in the (alternatively destroy 2 seals part).
We tried to beat it the normal way but the chanters just out regened the seals to full before we could get back from the previous smash. We were running big aoe builds and even clearing seals before we left the certain area to go to the next.
This glitch is common knowledge to any fractal runner and if you mess it up , it causes a group disband in most cases. It literally is the only way the giant seal level can be beaten past 20.
No, it’s not a glitch, it’s just putting your brain to work. It’s a helpful tactic and isn’t against the “fractal rules”, and that’s why ANet allows it.
Stacking at the boss so he’ll get stunned was a problem, and it was fixed
Hum… no, the laurels should be a reward from completing daily tasks. But I’d accept globs and mist essences from ascended stuff. My bank is getting full of rings I either already have or wont use, and the selling price is really really low
Get the amulet first, since it can only be bought with laurels (not really sure, but i didnt find it anywhere else)
Accessories can be bought with guild commendations – doing guild missions -, but I’d spend laurels on them
Rings? No. Just do FotM
go farm life, buy gems to make ANet happy, trade them for gold and buy the stuff you need, or the legendary (since its not account bound)
If you get a part-time job, you can buy your legendary within a month, get some experience, a raise, a promotion (ok, no promotion in one month)
I think that moving 6,7,8,9 and 0 to Alt+1, Alt+2, Alt+3, Alt+4 and Alt+5 was a great change
lol, why nerf it? just because retaliation killed him?
Take thief SB #2, I generally hit 3-4k without exploding it midair. If I hit a zerg of 40 people, that would be 120-160k damage, and considering that the skill costs 3 iniciative of a pool of 12, it can be used 4 times and deal 480-640k damage
JESUS kittenING CHRIST, IT CAN DEAL 640.000 DAMAGE, NERF THIS NOW
Yeah, I could kill myself as well, but that doesnt mean either retaliation or the skills should be nerfed. The only advice is be more careful when using skills against zergs
If you think, lvl 35 players can run AC with lvl 35 gear and finish it without problem (ok, a little trouble)
A MF gear is not that bad considering the defense it has. On the other hand, it’s not as effective as a real gear and pretty much selfish imo. So I agree with that MF sharing as people suggested
-How do I get there? head to area (A) and speak with guy (A)
Does the area and the guy have the same name?
Btw, I feel like dungeons are stupid. They are not challeging at all. Lots of bosses are just “keep hitting and dodge when necessary, if necessary”
That’s why some fights like the Dwayna girl in Arah p4 are known as impossible, because you have to think, you need strategy and coordination.
AC is, after the changes, the closest to perfect dungeon. It has some issues that may not ever be fixed (like graveling normal attacks applying 3 stacks of bleeding), but beating each path isnt boring anymore
I hope ANet changes every dungeon to make them more challenging, funnier and more rewarding ofc
Mesmers arent that stronger against multiple foes because many skills are single-target ones. Mesmer’s survivability doesnt suck like that, but you have to learn how to coordinate your illusions to have an advantage (its not hard, you get used to it while you play)
But if you really want to take down a lot of enemies, I’d recommend Elementalist, Guardian, Warrior or SB Thief (yes, thieves have AoE)
I know how you feel. I’m helping a friend with the WvW places, but there’s just no way to go inside the enemy territory and get some vistas or POIs.
My suggestion is waiting until the color rotation, or find a thief to keep stealthing you
But whats happening? Is it not toggling, or doing it without hitting a target?
Idk why that dungeon is temporary. Is ANet going to remove the living story in May update?
I like the idea, but just like the materials, you have a cap of 250 and just one slot to deposit. You get 60 tokens for each path you do, so you can easily get 250 tokens and have no more collectible slot available
Oh, thank god they fixed that
Finding groups to do story mode is generally hard, and thats not for AC, but every other dungeon has this issue
gw2lfg.com is a great site to find people and run some dungeons. But finding a friendly guild is the best option imo
Is it useful for PvE?
I think it’s more useful for PvP since boons give you a nice advantage, and is really common to see people with some interesting boons like might and protection
For PvE, it may not be that awesome. I, at least, dont see many Sword thieves in PvE, and boons are not as common as they are in PvP or WvW
Path 4 is too long, but actually the easiest of all arah paths…
Crap, someone was faster than me. And that’s it, Arah p4 is easy compared to the other 3 paths. The problem though is that the bosses have HUGE hp pools, so even the most idiot fights can be boring.
Lupicus and the Dwayna girl are pretty interesting on the other hand. Well, Lupi has just too much hp, but the fight tends do be more interesting because you need to move more, to be a lot more careful.
And the Dwayna boss is hard because you and your party JUST NEEDS COORDINATION. Let me say it again, COORDINATION. Yeah, just that. Say to your party members “hey, I’ll lure this one, and you stay there, and you there.” Then choose someone to use the tears when the others get debuffed.
I’m a Dungeon Master, I spent 4 hours doing this dungeon as well (and finished thank god). Lupi and Dwayna took 1 hour and a half (a few people really know how to fight lupi, the rest just leave), the other 2 and a half hours consisted of running around and killing the other boring bosses.
Tbh, I’d love to see some balances, or even remakes. AC was really easy, but it’s a lot funnier now because you have more stuff to do besides stand still and hit the boss. On the other hand, graveling still apply 3 stacks of bleeding every attack, and the Spider Queen AoE lasts for a really long time, allowing her to have 6 fields of poison for some seconds.
And there’s probably why you are complaining: you are too used to easy stuff like standing still and attacking the boss, maybe moving here and there to get out of an AoE or dodge a predictable skill.
When you say 100 you mean level 100, I believe the upper limit for now is around 60 because the AR past this level is not achievable yet, maybe some hardcore FotM runers can shed light on that though.
An european group made it to 80, and asked here if that was the cap since they couldn’t start 81. There’s a technique not to get wiped after killing the tentacles, but I’m not sure how to do it
And I don’t really like that reward system. It’s better than testing your luck, but I wouldn’t do FotM just to reach a certain level and get a special reward. I prefer that the whole dungeons becomes a bit more rewarding than giving you a ultra-super-cool item just once
They did this before the patch that restricts you from going past 50 now
That’s odd. So someone bumped an old topic, but thats good to know, tyvm
That was interesting. I was like “he’s gonna die” and boom, stealth. Nice fight

You can buy gems with gold btw. 2000 gems for the deluxe edition, and every 100 gems cost around 3 gold. That would take 60 gold
After some research, spending so much gold to get the wolf isnt that good. There are better elites imo
I think that’s the only way to get gold from karma. The karma items can’t be sold (just tryed to sell a karma mace I bought some days ago), and the orrian box gives you more karma lol, high level crafting materials that you can sell for tons of money (or 30 silver or so), junk (you can get money at least), some potions and the miniature (I dont think these can be sold)
It’s worth the try if you are not using the karma for something else
wow, that was a nice fight. I expect to see more duels with the new custom arenas, and want to fight other people as well
I think thats the real thief, pretty trickster, you shadowstepped and went back, confused the enemy a lot, used stealth a lot. I really enjoyed that
lol, ofc not. she bugs every time you fight her, and when she goes invisible, her health goes up without reason
its even written just below her hp bar, and that person asked such thing, lol
Hum… there’s a problem there. Warriors have more HP and defense, so in theory, thieves can deal more damage, but in a real fight, warriors will survive longer/stop less to heal, which means more DPS
You must not do high level fractals since you think the armor/health will save you from damage when both classes are glasss cannons.
But what’s the situation being considered here? My example is perfect if you are not going to move and just use your skills.
On the other hand, if you add dodges, kiting and the other mechanics GW2 offers, I’m totally wrong
Even though you can’t think of other situations, I won’t judge that ability. I just hope you become a better thorycrafter if you want to
(edited by HELLruler.4820)
I already hated having to run a dungeon so many times for a set of gear, now the pain is compounded by the slower rate of tokens.
The first run gives 60 tokens, and each dungeon has 3 paths (excluding Arah ofc). That means a single toon can get 180 tokens each day running every path just once.
The whole dungeon set costs 1380 tokens. Getting 180 tokens each day, you can complete the whole set in 8 days.
Is that fast, or is it slow? Hard or easy?
Imo, it’s a rewarding experience. The other way to get exotic stuff with the stats you want is crafting, but you need globs. There’s a chance of dropping rare+ items, and another chance to get globs from salvaging.
Getting dungeon sets is super easy, just stop complaining
If I’m not mistaken, I saw a topic exactly like this one some weeks ago, and I still approve the idea
Cool, tyvm. Downloading right now
I don’t think a subforum for each server is necessary, but separate guild recruitment from LFG (looking for guild :P) is a good suggestion
I really like this idea, but how would we deal with the fps? I have a great pc, usually run the game in high quality, but the amount of people + effects make the fps go down to 10
Any thoughts?
No whispers. That will make your life really annoying. Gold spammers will see you running around and will start whispering you until they are blocked/reported, adn they can make new accounts later
No whispers
Hum… there’s a problem there. Warriors have more HP and defense, so in theory, thieves can deal more damage, but in a real fight, warriors will survive longer/stop less to heal, which means more DPS
They think this is a FPS game, like Counter-Strike. Jumping and running around there can save your life. The same can’t be said about GW2 though XD
And I totally agree with you, those are the people who say that thieves are OP
You are playing the wrong class, I’m sure of it. Warriors are meat shields, Guardians aren’t
If you want a class that goes to the front line and can take a whole day of punishment, just roll Warrior, spam banners. Guardians are control-tankers, with many boons and heals
As far as making pets optional, put them on passive and ignore them if you want. You’ll be hurting your effectiveness, but if it’s more fun for you that way, go for it.
OR anet can:
1. make a proper archer class that doesn’t use pets.
2. give thieves longbows
3. make a viable ranger build that doesn’t use pets. The easiest option would be giving thieves longbows. They don’t have a long-ranged weapon anyway!
Asking the player base to simply ‘ignore’ their pets because that’s how they wanna play – especially when people already deny rangers a dungeon spot – is ludicrous.
But both SB and Pistol have 900 range attacks, and the second SB skill has 1200 range, and now I have to read that thieves don’t have a long-ranged weapon
I vote in Ranger changes
- Not allowed to chat AT ALL (to scare away gold spammers)
No, they should be allowed to chat. So that they can ask questions and get answers to better increase the chances of them actually buying an account.
A limited chat may work. No more than X words or something like that, or no whispers/map chat
The idea is pretty good, but I’m not really sure if Alchemist is the best description for the profession. It really sounds like an option for Engineers, not a different profession
On the other hand, the base idea is awesome and I’d love to see a class that can transform the skills like that (Invoker lol)
What’s the problem with custom arenas? If ANet can make a way to generate the terrain randomly, or maybe with a certain pre-set, dueling would be awesome.
Imagine if I go to Hoelbrak, spend hours studying the map and start saying things to you. Then I tell you to come to Hoelbrak to duel, and you are going to lose just because I know the place, I know the best spots, and you don’t.
I think the random arenas would be nice and make things more fair. And people dueling in towns and all over would just be bad, unnecessary extra effects
I’ve been playing MMOs for 7 years or so, and I’ve never seem a “social” MMO like GW2. The game is very group-based, and it’s really easy to find people to do things with you.
I understand that you want to do some stuff by yourself, I’d love to be able to do dungeons story mode alone too, but since the game forces me to play with others, I party up. Sometimes you have to put up with the things; if you can’t, I’m sorry, but you should search for another MMO
I started using the Signet of Agility since it gives a great precision boost, refills endurance and cure a condition for each nearby ally.
The problem here is that the bold part seems to say: cure X from your conditions when X allies are around
But here’s what really happens: cure a condition from you and allies around you
The text is really confusing. Found another topics about the same thing:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Talk:Signet_of_Agility
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/signet-of-agility-bug
The skill description currently says “cure a condition FOR each nearby ally,” which makes it sound like it cures one condition off the player for each nearby ally (which is what the two users above us think too). It doesn’t do that, at least not from what I’ve seen. It only ever cures one condition off the player, and one condition from nearby players. If the skill description was more accurate and in line with other skill descriptions, it would simply say "cures a condition from you and nearby allies
Yeah, “Refill endurance and cure a condition for each nearby ally” could mean:
-It only applies the effects to you, and it scales via having more friends nearby.
-One of the two benefits applies to you, possibly scaling as above, while the others apply to your allies.
-Both effects apply to your allies and neither apply to you.
What it actually does it apply both effects to both you and your nearby allies. “For each nearby ally” isn’t a statement of scaling, but a statement of who it targets.
Just a very poorly written description.
- Thieves have the worst defense
- Warriors have the best defense
- Warriors have stomping attacks since they can invest in power freely without losing defense
In general, Warriors are supposed to do a lot better in PvE than thieves. I know, that’s unfair, but it happens. ANet still tries to balance PvE PvP and WvW together
