I have to say that dungeon sets are not that easy to get, but the hard work has nice rewards. I got the whole AC set before the changes to have better stats, then TA to look well and HotW to get another stats (after hours of math, one build was just better than the other)
I feel it’s pretty rewarding based on the time I spent running dungeons. The only problem are easy boss fights that take forever (all HotW paths)
Upvoted, awesome idea. Makes the whole game more interesting and challenging imo
I’d love to upvote this more than once. It’d be nice to have a duel option in Heart of the mists, or some special maps for it (new tournament ideas anyone?)
+1 for this, great idea
I’ll bump this idea. I’d like to know how much damage I can deal, how much healing and the damage I took. They could add a reset option so if I decide to change items/builds, I will know what’s more effective and will help a lot with theorycrafting
They could add the gw2lfg.com in the game, so you don’t need to alt+tab or buy the app
I’m still able to run it in 6 minutes or under with a great group.
6 min run = 26 silver
One hour → 60 min = 260 silver = 2 gold 60 silver
How can that be called farming? You can get around 6 gold in one hour farming materials in Cursed Shore
Hey, nice idea. I’m kinda far from 500, but I’ll get there one day for sure
- Increases Pistol Range to 1200.
- Makes Vital Shot a 100% Projectile Finisher.
- Increases Pistol Damage by 10%.
- Makes Vital Shot Fire Faster.
- Lowers all Pistol Skills by 1 initiative.
- Adds 5 seconds of burning to Body Shot.
- Makes Headshot give 10 seconds of 1 stack of confusion.
- Black Powder additionally creates a “Combo Field: Fire.”
- SB has 900 range as well, so no need to buff the pistol range
- Not really sure about this one, but since SB attack has 20% as well, no changes here
- Nah, the damage is ok
- Why so? Isnt it fast enough?
- Troll
- Troll
- That makes sense if u ask me, but if you consider that it is a pistol shot instead of a sword hit, dazing is ok (but should be hitkill, it’s a headshot after all)
- There’s an yes and a no. It’s powder, so creating a smoke field makes sense, but you can make it burn and boom, explosion happens, and there’s your fire field. Work more on this idea, it’s a nice suggestion
But how much damage those skill deal?
My autoattacks with Dagger deal 1k>1k>2-3k (with crit, but i have a great chance to crit, so i hit those almost every time)
Heartseeker can deal 4k when enemies are low, CoD hits 3-4k and the next strike hits 7k
1+1+2+3+4+7 = 18k damage in, say, 7-8 seconds
Other classes have cooldowns, and the most powerful skills generally take 15-60 secs before they can be used again. That means I can deal a minimum of 36k to a max of 136k damage depending on the class “combo”
Thief is a great class imo, and smart use of iniciative is the one of the things that separate good players from the best players
I’ve been using S/D or S/P and SB for PvP, and it works pretty well. Dagger seems to deal more damage, but Sword is just safer imo
I wish the difficulty of dungeons would change depending on each “real” level instead of just dynamic level everyone.
Dungeons would be equal to both low level and high level players
Ectos are essential now for:
Legendary
Ascended back pack
Earrings(optional)
ExoticsIf prices drop, getting these items will be very easy and essential drive people out of the game faster. Also, as I already stated(for those of you that cannot read very well) ectos are suppose to be a currency, according to the devs. Guaranteed rares = price of ecto drop. If I do this event I know I’ll get a rare. 10x = about 8-9 ecto easy + w/e rares you get from the chest too. Times this by how many players? almost 900 k that log in every day during 6-9pm. The market is getting flooded. Flooding the market is NEVER good.
But you have to consider:
#1: 8-9 easy ectos with the events, but most things require 100+ ectos, so that would make you play at least 12-13 days per item to get enough ectos
#2: You have to complete the map. It may take at least a week
And btw, ectos were 28-30 silver before the guaranteed rares, it’s 5 silver cheaper now, that’s not a huge difference if you’re not buying lots and lots of ectos
I think you can do the first 9 levels with sub-optimal parties. But you will sure need extra defense and offense from exotic items, so that means you will need lvl 80.
And nice idea, I think that non-80 doing fotm is a nice thing if you are willing to teach people how to do it, they get prepared for it when they hit 80
4 secs reveal already gave people a huge advantage, it’s an extra second to react and disable the thief before it can stealth again
Tbh, Thieves have the lowest HP pool in the game imo (and worst defense as well) – base stats – and people want even more advantage?
Let’s start flamming other classes: Warriors can deal a huge 17k damage in so little time, engs can kite forever, every ele skill is OP, Guardians can heal themselves to full life so you have to “kill” them 2 or 3 times, etc
Hey ANet, we have a problem. Every other class has too much defense, so we can’t kill them without exposing us too much. Nerf please
1. Lol, how come 80% of the items are account bound? If I’m not mistaken, most of rares dropped aren’t accound bound, and salvage the exotics for ectos (each one sells for a lot) or throw everything in the forge to get another item that you may need (not really recommended, but idk, just a suggestion)
2. That somewhat bothers me as well. I think the progress should be for the whole account
3. That’s the worst thing ever. FotM is a dungeon, how it doesn’t count as a dungeon?
4. That’s true. Dropping a skin is virtually impossible, and there’s always that great chance of getting the one you don’t want
5. That’s stupid, we do need the amulets and accessories, but we are forced to do guild missions/dailies just to get the other pieces
6. It’s not just “can’t salvage”, but those rings are kind of useless. What’s the point of having tons of them (and pristines) and can’t do anything more interesting then destroying/selling to npcs? Still gotta try mystic forge and see if it’s possible
Physically saying, swords are heavier than daggers, and since most people have a dominant side, generally the right one, going D/S would be an idiot decision, you wouldn’t be able to hold and use it well
But talking about other weapons, I’d like to see more weapons for thieves
I dont think that Condition works that well on WvW, just like Adaneshade said; it works really well on PvE though
About melee damage, it works great on both WvW and PvE from what I’ve experienced
nice idea, that would help with some stuff, but what would efficiently control the offline character?
Nice idea, I see people playing on another servers, but I’m not sure if they are just gusting or really moved. And you can’t tell by checking everyday since that person can guest the same server everyday
I think that salvage is a good choice. You may sell the fine items and use masterwork at mystic forge to get rare ones, so white items are great to get some mats
If I understood it, you want to take your PvE character to a PvP arena, which is not the WvW.
The thing is: this game separates (or at least try) PvP from PvE. When you get to the PvP map, you’ll see that your toon is lvl 80 and well-equiped to fight. There are shops to customize your items, or buy new ones if you want.
This is not a game of “who has best gear wins” like WoW, it gives everyone a chance to fight equally
I totally support this idea. Lots of times you have to search one item in a huge list to make enough for another one, it’s terrible
If I got the idea, you want more kits for each weapon. That would be great imo, won’t happen though
Btw, Granado Espada has that system just like the pic showed us
If I’m correct, every class has something that can boost mov speed. Thieves can use a signet or get the trait to roll and get a boon; mesmers have the focus wall.
I do think that the world is huge and the base mov speed is a bit slow, but you have tons of Waypoints around the map, no real need for mounts imoFor every one of those speedboosts you need to invest something, (at least a skillslot) which makes you weaker, thats why they don’t count in my eyes.
If you want to roam and kill, that’s a problem. But if you want just to cross the map to get a wp and then do an event, it’s totally worthy investing a skillpoint to move faster since you will skip almost if not every monster
I feel that higher level fractals aren’t as rewarding as they should be. Farming CoF is one thing, it’s really easy (“10 gold per hour” was the title of a topic another day) and ruins the economy (elitist players get tons of money and can buy anything, making prices go up).
But there’s really no way to “farm fotm”, it’s a dungeon that takes some time (from 40 mins to over 2 hours), and has a daily chest reward. However, higher level ones are really hard and the loot can be compared to lvl 20-30 ones, that are much easier.
I think some adjustments are needed to make people want to do higher levels, so they wont get the same rewards of a mid-lvl run
Just found this while doing my personal storyline “I’ like to hear your account, howevrer”
Please fix that little mistake

Hey, stop that. Healing pod is a nice healing item, removes conditions, but you can’t say that by removing this item from dungeons, they ruined your game as a thief.
First of all, thieves aren’t really good with healing skills, especially party healing. If you want to support your party, give them poison attacks, use your basilisk poison (it’s working as intended now, it just doesn’t immobilize if stun is broken – which made no sense, you get rid of poison and still have to stay affected?).
If you think that healing pod was the god item for thief support, just delete your toon and stop playing
Killing the statues then the boss makes the fight ultra easier. Why would you bother yourself with going to the buggy spot and let the boss hit your whole team every attack when he is totally buffed?
On the other hand, they should check HotW bosses HP. They have a incredibly huge HP pool, and easy fights, like p2 ice monsters, take forever
I play PvE, PvP and WvW (even though I’m most of times in PvE with my guild), and I totally agree that separating things is an excelent idea.
WvW and PvP work similarly, that’s all sPvP fault (I consider it a smaller version of WvW), so you can work on both pretty easily.
PvE, on the other hand, is totally different from the other two, so balancing both sides is virtually impossible.
Why don’t a GM or someone that powerful come here and tell us what they think about it?
Per today’s patch notes they are now transmutation “stones” and “crystals” with the same functionality.
Oh yeah, thanks for the update
wow, this is an old post!
Since someone found it and said that another person was always wrong, it appeared in the first page, but I think it’s pretty helpful for now players
I don’t know if the stats are the same, but the model looks exactly like the Corrupted Shard
If one of the items is lvl 80, you must use the fine transmutation stone (even thought the other item is not lvl 80)
You get it completing the map or buy at gem shop
Are you playing as a stealth thief? Sorry, but that doesn’t work on PvE. Neither does full zerker thief.
Grab your soldier/knight gear, go for a poison/condition or swashbuckler build. (20/30/0/10/0 works well for good dps if you don’t like the poison build)
The titles don’t appear here. Tbh, I hardly see the names too. Go to game options and search for a way to disable them.
Close the topic. It’s just a hater crying because he can’t find a group decent enough to beat a certain dungeon
Commanders are important for WvW, you can make huge groups of players, known as squads, and capture objectives, fight other players, make strategies.
But can this system be more effective, I mean, does it has other uses out of WvW?
Having a commander may be good for guild missions, you can group a lot of members to do stuff, and that won’t fill the guild chat with a certain activity (some people get annoyed because the guild is talking so much about something and those people are not involved now).
But a PvE player has no real reason to spend 100 gold to buy such title, maybe you can get a huge group to farm and do events in Orr. So my idea is: Commander events.
Imagine how nice it would be to get 50 people to do huge boss fights, gathering stuff or killing hordes of monsters. And the rewards could be experience, money and karma; more difficult ones could reward the player with items (one rare – maybe an exotic – per day for the account, just like the world bosses, high tier materials, mystic coins)
Please post here your ideas
Getting money in this game is not hard, you can do several events and have enough to waypoint anywhere. Dungeons give you a nice amount of silver to pay teleports for some time. Getting materials is easy, and lots of people want to buy
The teleport prices are just ok right now
Ok…people can farm FOTM, but is a long dungeon…you can need 1h to do it, if after this time i have 3/4 rare is not so much if i’ve do a 30,40,50 lv….i think they can be increase drop rate for high level or there’s no reason to level personal rewards
Have you ever thought of doing one fractal and start again?
If they change the reward chest after each boss, you can try and get swamp, 15 mins run, pick your rares from the chest, re-enter fotm and repeat this forever.
On the other hand, I totally agree with you that the drop rate should be higher for high levels, otherwise you can keep farming lvl 20 since it’s easy and as rewarding as higher levels.
I’ve done most dungeons (story and exp) already, but when I started, I always whispered people to know if they could bear with a new runner. That worked out pretty well, I just grouped up with people willing to teach you everything.
There will be no 5 mins CoF p2 run without teleport gun
CoF farm is going to run the economy, just that
I dont think 10+ man dungeons would work that well. I think that 10+ man events work a lot better, especially event chains. And that’s a great idea: commander missions. A commander invites people to the squad and start a huge event; that would be a great addition to PvE, because I feel that commanders are more useful on WvW right now
Talking about new skills, I think you have a point. The 8 classes we have are great – maybe we could have a few more in the future – but I’d love to customize my 1-5 attacks (and I’m playing as a thief). That may be hard to do because many kits are really good, and you can change kits for some situations (melee and ranged for instance)
The place where you fight the Bloomhunger has a bit of land – where the boss stays – and the rest is water and trees. But the problem is that the red circles when he uses his skills are barely visible on water, sometimes totally invisible.
Yeah, you can stay on the land part, but that would make the huge boss place somewhat useless: why would you get out of the tiny isle if it’s better to see the red circles there?
This may not be an issue with Bloomhunger exclusively, but every other monster where there’s water around and the circles can be barely seem.
It seems most of us on the forums have been hitting bad RNG there lately.
This is confirmation bias. The only people who post about it on the forums are those with the bad RNG. Those with the good RNG don’t post, and so you get the false feeling that something is wrong when, in-fact, nothing is wrong.
Don’t take this the wrong way; I think Fractal chests need to be more rewarding (at least as much as world boss chests) and have posted repeatedly about that topic, but the RNG and loot for FotM hasn’t changed since it was added.
I’ve been getting nice stuff from fractals lately, but I agree that we need some changes. 1 in 5-6 runs I get an exotic item (lvl 20-29 runs btw), the rare drop rates aren’t that high though – tbh, I think I drop more exotic stuff than rare O.o
Masterwork and fine are OK, sometimes I have to destroy blues to make room for masterwork or better loot.
One of the solutions could be a rare drop from each boss, but that would make people farm FotM and ruin prices. It’s going to be hard to find a nice solution without breaking the economy right now.
So I’d place my bets on getting masterwork and use the mytic forge. Green items sell for 1-2 silver, so if you get at least one rare from 12 greens, you are not losing anything
For dungeons, I don’t think that having zerker gear is always helpful. It really depends on your team. But when you go solo around the huge map, zerker gear is a total risk. I have a full zerker thief (if you think that zerker war has difficulty, I’m sure my situation is worse) and now working on a soldier gear, even the weaker mobs can kill me with a little effort
tldr – you can run full zerker on dungeons depending on your team, but I recommend having at least 2 or 3 pieces of soldier/knight armor if you like doing stuff outside dungeons
btw, I made a mistake before editing this now. I’m getting soldier armor because thieves are punished hard for the low hp pool and lack of condition removers. Knight set seems to work better on warriors than soldier
(edited by HELLruler.4820)
I dont think they hit that hard, but the real problem is they can stun-lock you to death. Each knight can knock you down twice in a row, so when you are about to get up, they knock you down again.
That’s almost instadeath depending on your gear (since dynamic level makes everyone lvl 55). I used to run full zerker thief, and the first knockdown was enough to make sure I’d need a hand to get up.
