Set a man on fire, and he’ll be warm the rest of his life.
– Unknown Fire Elementalist
I often buy two Total makeover kits because I end up failing/disliking the first look. I am a bit more careful now with the new NPC in Lions arch. (And the insane gem to gold ratio.)
Yes… for some reason, you rarely wind up looking in-game the same way you do in the Kit preview – and it’s not just lighting. I toiled long and spent excessively getting all my characters just so.
If you are picky about the details, and have an extra character space, it’s cheaper to create a NEW character, recording your settings via screen capture along the way. Then when you’re satisfied you can go back and carefully recreate the result onto your existing character, matching up the screen caps of slider positions etc. Unfortunately, that doesn’t help with any of the new settings added later to the Kits.
Can we have ascended aqua breather recipes with HOT stats ( ie marauder/ viper)please?
I am still very pro-underwater combat and exploration. (You would think that they’d have to enhance this portion of the game with an underwater elder dragon remaining…)
We need Ascended Aqua Breathers of all stat combos. And we need them available from the Laurel merchants as well as recipes, since I detest crafting. (Heck… we need simple EXOTICS in all stat combos still!)
And we need more skins for them. (A small pen-like unit like something out of a James Bond film, or what the Jedi had in that horrible movie. A clear bubble around the head. Or best of all, an invisible Aqua Breather.)
Sometimes I have had to do all the Harpy stuff and then the Lodestone gathering. The very first time I did this, I couldn’t get him to offer me the tonic at all – just like you. The last time (fairly recently) that I got some Growth Tonic, I only had to do the Lodestone gathering part. And I didn’t even start the event… he was already standing in the field with an orange circle on the map.
Just keep trying. It’s inconsistent. (Maybe it depends on whether or not you get a gold reward for the gathering???)
Below is one of the very most popular Female Monk hairstyles in GW1. I’m very surprised it hasn’t made its way to GW2, especially since it doesn’t require very much of the “hair flowing” mechanic that has been lacking in the later offerings that they’ve presented to us.
…And that’s my MAIN beef. Many of the styles added since launch are physically far inferior to what we have at Character Creation. Hair should flow! It is not a rigid helmet. And it shouldn’t look “blocky” or “kinky” or “stringy” or otherwise low-quality. (See pictures below with embedded commentary).
I manually sheath my weapons every time I get done with a fight. And every time I take fall damage. And when I’m running by an enemy I don’t intend to fight and get hit by a random attack. So pretty much any time I have my weapons drawn ankitten ot currently fighting.
Me too. Most Greatsword animations look especially horrid if running along with the weapon out.
ALSO:
Before the MegaServer (Grrrrr…!) I loved soloing Skill Challenges (now called Hero Challenges). Most were easy, but some could actually be a little challenging (hence the name, right?). I waited a long time sometimes to make sure nobody else was around so that I could “test my mettle” by myself. Conversely, I occasionally watch other players do them without interrupting them. If they look as if they may be in trouble, I may sometimes throw a heal their way, or revive them if necessary. But I let them kill the bad guy themselves.
Post-MegaServer I can almost never complete a challenge by myself. There are too many other players around that will jump in, and the “challenge” part goes out the window. Am I really weird to want to be challenged, and to respect other players opportunity to be challenged?
I tend to walk to my destinations, using the roads. I’ll only use portals when I’m in a hurry.
Ahh, yes! I do that from time to time. Do you actually mean walk? I use the roads and even walk where it seems appropriate (mostly in town). I despise being sped up by Guildies in town that have the “Pact Commander” set of Masteries! I will never have that for myself until they give us the ability to dismiss the speed.
One word: Roleplay
Hehe… I knew someone would say that.
Many people have several characters or “toons” as you call them, but there is only ONE Zedek(k).
Of course! It is against the rules to stack Zedekk.
(I also love a good pun… if there is such a thing. That’s both in and out-of-game.)
I like to make an exit
One thing I do that I do not notice others doing is that I try to make a flashy departure by using a skill when I disappear from others’ screens due to my waypointing/logging:
Ooh, yeah! I used to do that in GW1. Now I’m gonna have to start Overloading Fire on my Tempest just before I exit. You just made me that much weirder.
(edited by Hamfast.8719)
I’m weird. I know it. But I’m not the only one; I see people every day that hop all over the place as if the ground were covered with hot coals. I don’t understand it. I just assume that they’re weird too.
So what do I do that is weird?
That’s me. Do any of the rest of you have any quirks you’d like to share? Perhaps you bunny-people wish to share your reasoning?
What do you do in-game that’s weird?
To go with the Chef’s Outfit there should be a Meat Cleaver (axes), a Rolling Pin (maces), a big 2-pronged Meat Fork (scepters), a Chef’s Knife (knives), a long handled Pizza Paddle (staves), etc. Cheap skins, not a Black Lion offering.
The Mesmer portals are just another of many tools players can use.
This is a community game. People are encouraged to help one another. If a successful jumper helps out some poor (or yes, lazy) jumpers, it probably makes everyone involved feel good.
Nothing wrong with that.
3178 hours played on my Elementalist. 1054 deaths. So she dies once every 3 hours on the average. I would hardly call that “unkillable”.
You’re most likely trolling, but you can always play an Elementalist for yourself if you think it’ll make you invincible.
Clearly this woman did not hear about Eir’s unflattering death during HoT storyline.
Neither did I. Thanks a lot for the SPOILER ALERT.
How about gliders for those organizations like the Priory or Whispers? I’m surprised we haven’t seen any of those yet.
Well…
The Order of Whispers uses a stealth glider. So you won’t ever see that one as long as their enchantments hold up. (I think Wonder Woman is in the Order of Whispers).
Maybe “Glider Rental” NPCs around the world near Waypoints that let people snag a basic glider for a small fee? It would disappear upon zoning or dying. (If the person had my luck, they’d rent a glider and then get a “Zone is closing” message within a minute. You should be able to KEEP a rented glider if you “volunteer” to transfer to a more populated zone.)
Yes, it is a long-standing annoyance. Happens in Hoelbrak. A wandering guard in Divinity’s Reach has a route that takes him in to the bank, so sometimes it happens there as well. Many other spots. You should not be able to interact with NPCs standing close to actual SERVICE NPCs. If the place is crowded with players, then physically clicking the needed NPC can be problematic. (I’m looking at YOU, Mister Winged Charr!)
If they want to push more sales of HoT they should also setup glide points in various cities to allow players to test gliding. On the top of the light house and off the center of the top tier in Hoelbrak. They could put an NPC at the launch points that activate it for the player for each glide. The NPC could explain they need to go to the HoT to train on the skill to use it unsupervised. Off the light house they could use a Asura simulated ley line to the shore on the other side.
Hmm… interesting idea, Tek. Maybe the Asura can set up a special “training” zone in the Super Adventure Box so that anyone can glide around and get a feel for it. (Not play the game, although I know people will want to. Just a gliding arena. It would be easier than having to climb back to the top of various spots in the cities every time you landed.) That’s what the SAB was originally supposed to be for if I remember correctly; to train Asuran children in safety before letting them loose in the world.
You missed it, add “who” infront of "re"strains and remove the space.
Ah…HaHaHaHaHa!
Who’re they kidding with that filter?
I despised having the free Shared slot mixed in with my bags. I have no need for the slot. No use for the slot. It is just as wasted on me as the 13 Account-Bound Mini Queen Jennas were.
Now my Inventory is organized correctly again, which I appreciate. But the huge gap of emptiness at the top is a waste of space and makes me scroll more than usual. Probably better (for most people) at the bottom, since they are accessed less than other Inventory space. But better still to give us the OPTION of where we want it. And let us HIDE it. OPTIONS, guys! Stop forcing stuff on us! Not everyone has the same needs or desires.
O P T I O N S !
restrains got sensored for hilarious reason.
Ahh… “restrains”! I was scratching my head wondering what you were trying to say. Don’tcha just love this “kitten-filter” sometimes? There are a few perfectly harmless words/phrases that I have censored all the time, and I have to figure out a different way to say it. It makes communication difficult at times.
It’s annoying, isn’kitten ?
Aww, maaaaaan… don’t do that to me! Now they’re gonna merge my thread and it’ll disappear.
Here are a couple ideas for new gliders, and modifications to existing ones:
What others would you like to see?
Are people actually completely overlooking how useful the Shared Slot Bag is?
For people who primarily just play one main character, it has very little use. It’s one bonus slot and nothing more if you play no other characters. Everyone is different. Everyone has different needs.
That’s why ANet needs to learn how to implement OPTIONS… something they almost always seem unable or unwilling to do for some reason.
I added the -32 switch and Sweet FX is working again. Must not like 64 bit.
My Sweet FX doesn’t seem to be working anymore. Anyone else experiencing this, or is it just something bugged on my end?
My bags are orderly again. Thanks! Please consider letting us HIDE the thing now, so I don’t have to choose between scrolling and seeing my chat window.
You want for your minions the same thing that they want for themselves: Braaaaaains!
Wind. Don’t forget the wind at Rata Sum. Have none of you ever been up on a high structure? Now go back and recalculate.
Is there any reason the Mini Pet display rules can’t be different for WvW, if the problems are different for WvW?
(Yes, Andraus… 10 ambient creatures around you. But what about on the whole map? Only ANet has an idea how the number of Ambients on a whole map compares to the number of Mini Pets there. If “around you” is the important factor, then why should my Mini Pet disappear if I am nowhere close to the crowded area?)
Or you can do what a normal adult would do and turn it back on.
Okay, that “normal adult” thing is kinda rude. You’re thinking of a “normal automaton” that is happy doing repetitive tasks. (No offense, farmers).
Normal adults realize that it is the program’s job to restore the Mini Pets once the all-clear whistle has blown. ANet has had regular problems doing that.
Mini Pet users have put up with a load of issues since the start. If they want to keep selling them (there’s the magic word!), then they shouldn’t alienate the consumer. One way or another, fix the problem.
Just so you know, some mini pets actually can’t swim. They are afraid of the water.
I teach my Avian Mini Pets to follow me in the air above the surface. My Golems are trained to dry off thoroughly and reapply WD-40 as needed. The Princess Doll has her own hair dryer. My other various pets are seeing a psychologist to deal with their irrational fears, and doing quite well, thank you very much.
Might I suggest the offices of Doctor Shrink in Rata Sum. (He’s a member in good standing of the Headcase Krewe).
They can’t glide either. They also get “removed” from high populations such as WvW to reduce lag.
My bird Minis should be able to glide, you’d think. And I can understand if they can’t swim. Maybe a system like Ranger Animal Companions that lets you pre-select different Minis for underwater? But that’s WAAAAAAY down on their lists, I’m sure. I’m not asking for that.
I did address your “lag” concern in my first point. Get rid of the white non-important “set decoration” creatures if they really feel the need to remove something.
But I seriously doubt in this day and age that there is any lag problem on their servers due to Mini Pets. And any lag problems that we may have could be addressed individually by allowing us to cull other players’ Minis. Perhaps a multi choice checkbox? …
The main problem is that they can’t seem to efficiently restore Mini Pets when they remove them. So I say don’t remove them at all as the simplest solution.
FLAMES OF KRYTA no longer acts as a light source.
Please fix… the Elementalists (yeah, the Wizards of GW2) don’t have any other sources of illumination to speak of.
Mini Pets in GW2 have had problem, after problem, after problem.
It’s bad enough that they lag way behind me when I run, and stand far away from me when I come to a stop. (Why doesn’t he want to be near me? Do I have B.O?) What’s up with that? The GW1 Minis kept up, stood nearby, and even did little emotes to entertain you.
But now -once again- ANet seems to have an ongoing problem figuring out how to restore my Mini Pet after it has been removed due to “rising player population” or swimming, or whatever. He disappears, and I continually have to go back to my Mini Pet selection window and re-check the display box. This bug has been ongoing for awhile now, and has been a problem numerous times in the past.
Well guess what, ANet? I found the solution for you:
L E A V E – T H E – M I N I – P E T S – A L O N E !
Stop un-checking them, and then you won’t have to keep figuring out what is bugging the program.
I’m not sure why they get removed anyway:
Solution number TWO:
Give us a “View other characters’ Mini Pets” Checkbox!
That way, the people can decide for themselves if other Mini Pets are a problem. You can restore the fun sound effects that were frustratingly removed from my Princess Doll, and my Golems, and all the others. And we Mini Pet consumers get what we paid for: a cute little companion that catches up 30 seconds after we stop moving, and stands in the far corner of the screen.
Problem solved. Now if only we could do something about that infernal Job-O-Tron backpack…
It took me well over an hour to find 4 wood nodes for my Dailies in the Verdant Brink… a zone that consists of practically nothing but trees.
Why does my female human have a pair of panties, but only one bra?
Most things (most) will reappear for a time then disappear again. The idea, I suppose, is to increase desire/demand. Of course it also increases frustration for people who just can’t wait for Wintersday to get the Wintersday Minis.
It’s sorta like what McDonald’s does with the McRib.
(Hmm… a McRib minipet. Available at the Lion’s Golden Arch.)
Make it a new reward achievement! “You lovable PUG!—you joined 500 random groups via lfg tool” XD
If you can to do that to get a Pug, can I win 100 Costume Brawls with my Boxing Gloves (yes, I still have those!) to get a Boxer mini?
If I knockdown/knockback 500 opponents, am I eligible for a Bulldog mini?
If I use the Pirate “Walk the Plank” skill 250 times in Costume Brawl, can I get a Poodle? (Because I made a puddle).
If I complete 10 Collections can I get a Retriever?
If I have 5 Asura characters on my account, can I get a Lab?
Please though, don’t ever make a Shih Tzu available from achievements!
You know how that guy in Silverwastes has constant fundraisers for some cause or another? Why couldn’t we have a “Put the Lion Back in Lion’s Arch” fundraiser for Lion’s Arch?
I miss that statue, darn it! When I came across it in the ruins in the bay, I honestly welled up. LA is the heart and soul of Tyria, after all.
Cool! You’re chairing the committee, Gaile! (Or Charring the committee if you prefer). Have the Devs tinker with that NPC’s innards, and start up the fundraiser!
(But then I remember the guy in LA collecting donations the first time the statue was destroyed. He was there forever before anything got done. Perhaps this could be a little more player-involved, and a little quicker to come to fruition?)
I miss the central lion statue too. We no longer have a central gathering spot or focal point for festivals. The world has grow a bit colder.
Nobody has found any “Jumbo Shrimp” yet? No “Boneless Ribs” for sale at the Meatoberfest? No “Humble Asura” wandering around Rata Sum?
I see there’s a “Mini Sand Giant”.
And I’d be willing to bet Gaile could find a “Svelte Quaggan” if anyone can.
I have found a number of things in GW2 that juuuuuust aren’t named quite right.
What oxymorons and contradictions have you found in the game?
I was just making a lame joke in response to the OP.
I see my wry sense of humor was not lost on you. And don’t worry… your humor wasn’t lost on me, you Parrot-Head. My sister would love you.
I’m guessing they are annoyed with the Job-O-Tron sound effects.
Your guess is correct. Job-O-Tron must be silenced!
Maybe an extreme reaction on their part
I was very careful to say I was looking for a toon, not a real, live person.
Rampant political-correctness these days means it’s hard for anybody to make a joke without someone else being (gasp!) offended all out of proportion. Kids these days don’t learn how to protect themselves physically, because everything is made of Nerf foam. And they can’t protect themselves mentally because they’re taught that everyone is great just the way they are. No need for improvement. Everyone’s a winner.
Whatever happened to “sticks and stones”? “I’m rubber and you’re glue”?
(Sorry, Silas. Now I’m the one who’s responding all out of proportion).
nothing stopping them from adjusting their audio options to fix that.
Unfortunately, we still have no option to mute player backpacks without also muting other sound effects. (THIS is what my post was about. Long asked for by the community, long ignored by ANet).
I was recently subjected to a whole Jormag fight with at least two of those things in attendance. By the end I was beginning to feel that maybe the dragon had the right idea trying to wipe us out.
An example of a character actually growing and developing in this way done right, would be Taimi. Taimi accepts after her reckless, chaotic and childish rage fit she cant fight every battle alone. Scruffy getting broken and Taimi being left to the mercy of the Inquest as Braham saved her was a classic point of what im trying to say. It was growth, both characters grew, Taimi especially, realizing, she cant be some reckless child in the middle of a danger zone.
And yet, in HoT, she still manages to develop (albiet small, no pun intended) with Scruffy dying yet again (for the third time if you played S1) and final time with HoT, she accepts the death of her beloved golem and we get a brief tender moment of the Golem hesitating to kill itself before deciding to do what it had to do.
Taimi also realizes, with a giant asura lab capable of protecting her like a small fortress, there is absoleutley “no” need for her to leave and wisely chooses instead to stay in the secure defended position because, for once, its not dangerous to be there alone.
Dude! What happened to “Spoiler Alert”? Sheesh!
I’m looking for toons with the chatty Job-O-Tron golem backpack.
As an Elementalist, I have very few items I can use that act as a light source (for places such as Sharkmaw Caverns). Since we can only have one “Flames of Kryta” item per account, I gave it to my Elementalist. Most of the other characters have access to weapons that give off light.
Now the Flames of Kryta no longer give off light. You can see in the picture (or you can’t see in the picture as the case may be) that neither my character or the walls behind her are illuminated.
Please fix!
Okay, my real question, I guess, is can I just take the Level-80 Boost item out of my Shared Inventory Slot and throw it in the Bank until I want to use it?
Early on, I heard several horror stories of people applying it to the wrong character by accident (whether from double-clicking or simply taking it out of the slot while playing the wrong character. Tales were unclear).
I don’t really need the thing, and I don’t particularly like that it will hog a space in my already overcrowded Bank either. But it’s too “powerful” to just get rid of should I change my mind and decide I need a quick Level 80 character someday.
Is this a “tricky” item that I need to be careful with? Or were the other posters just not watching what they were doing close enough? As long as they’re forcing this danged Shared Inventory Slot on me, I want to try to find a use for it. But I can’t do that until I dispose of the Level-80 Boost.
Please, no. I don’t want an LGBT character in the spotlight. I pay enough for my Total Makeover Kits as it is already.
Yes! If allowing us to move the Shared Slot is too hard (I seriously doubt that), then at the very least, let us HIDE it! (See picture below).
And if their motive is to drum up sales, why would they want to give players the option to hide it.
What some call “drumming up sales” others call “angering existing customers”.
Think about it. The Bobblehead April Fools prank came with mixed reviews. Some people loved it, and it infuriated others that there was no way to “turn it off”. This is the same thing. Stop forcing things on us. Give us OPTIONS. Let us turn things on and off.
Other personal OPTIONS I wish we had:
Etc., etc. Sorry – getting off-topic. I just wanted to tell ANet (again) that Options Are Always A Good Thing!
Now back to our originally scheduled programming…
Of today’s 4 PvE Dailies, two of them require you to own Heart of Thorns.
Yes, I know all of the old arguments. Trying to get us into new places. Trying to get us to experience other areas of the game outside our comfort zone. Etc., etc. You really don’t need to repeat them again. We’ve all heard ’em a million times.
I’m just pointing it out so that maybe (yeah, right) they’ll be more careful in their selections.
Just sayin’.
Actually, I loved all of the tons of new Dailies they are adding into the lineup. But I was hoping that with so much new stuff they were finally going to give us more than 4 in each area to choose from. 5 or (dare I say it) 6 Dailies from each area? Alas not. (Sigh).
Let me see if I got this right. You’re complaining about something happening that doesn’t actually happen.
Also known as complain for no reason at all.
If you had read just a couple of responses, then you would see that you have no reason at all to complain about my post.
I genuinely did not know at the time that different players get different Dailies, so when I saw 2 Dailies devoted to HoT it struck me as unfair to my fellow PvEers who don’t own HoT. My fears were immediately alleviated in the first couple of replies. I know better now. Case closed on that concern. We don’t need to hear that again this late in the thread. Please read at least some of the replies before you point out what an idiot I am. That’s already been determined.
(My many, many posts all tend to be lengthy. That gives me plenty of opportunity to show off what I don’t know. But hopefully, people correcting me will also help other players that stumble about in the dark just as blissfully as myself.)
I also pointed out that I saw the new list of Dailies they had in mind for us, and lamented the fact that with such a nice, large selection of things to do, they were still pigeon-holing us into only 4 things from each area (PvE/PvP/WvW).
This is a valid concern, and I have since posted a suggested solution:
Keep 4 things from each area; 4 PvP choices, 4 PvE choices, and 4 WvW choices. But give us 3 “sub-choices” for each achievement. For example, one of the 4 PvE choices might be “Complete one path in Ascalon Catacombs OR Honor of the Waves OR The Ruined City of Arah.” You get a Daily Achievement credit for only ONE of these.
This solution is nice because Achievement Hunters don’t “have to” do more stuff, but people still have more options. (And hopefully, it would keep any one event from being a massively overcrowded as some of them have been). We would also get a chance to see those wonderful new Dailies more often.
Please make is possible for a player to choose if they want to do HoT or regular dailies. Not all of us who own HoT have had the time to fully explore it, making some content inaccessible (including, again, today, and pretty much every day since the update went live). Some of us would also prefer to be able to do dailies with friends who don’t own HoT at all yet. It’s a social thing.
Thanks.
Agreed. 3 of the last 4 have been further into HoT than I can reach yet. More flexibility, please.
