CHAOS STAFF SITS WAY TOO HIGH!
(Human Female)

Please – I’m begging you. This staff was the very first Black Lion Weapon I felt compelled to buy. I love it. But when not in use, it sits way too high on my back. It looks ridiculous!

I reported this a long time ago, when they first came out. I don’t use it because of this, and I would really love to. I know this is a really easy problem to fix; you guys adjusted the Greatsword positioning on my Charr’s back only 1 or 2 updates after it was reported.

See the figure with the Chaos Staff at the far right of the picture below. Compare its positioning to all the other staves on it’s left. You’ll see what I am talking about.

Thank you.

What is your normal-course-of-play, and what dailies would you like to see added to the game-section you operate in?

See my previous post above for my idea of being able to do things during the normal course of play. I thought those original Dailies were fun.

But several more posts above that I offered an idea I would actually prefer to see. It isn’t so much about “normal course of play” as it is about giving you more choices. I think you should be able to (for example) choose between one of 3 World Bosses to kill. Choose between one of 3 mini dungeons to complete. Between one of 3 Jumping Puzzles to complete. Etc.

With this new system, we want to give players the opportunity to try things they may not normally experience and feel like the rewards they earn for doing so mean something.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-new-daily-achievement-system/

Yes. Their philosophy changed at that point. Unfortunately, when they say “give players the opportunity to try things they might not normally experience”, many of us read it as “push us to do something we already know we don’t enjoy”.

Here’s what the Dailies looked like originally (a blast from the past!):

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Daily_%28achievements%29

For those who never experienced it, or those who have forgotten, you can see how broad the tasks were, letting us truly accomplish them while doing what we wanted.

In my opinion, this is such a minor, teeny, tiny, puny, teensy, micro, spec of an “inconvenience” that it is hardly worth noting.

There seems to be enough dailies that three can easily, quickly — and enjoyably — be acquired every day.

And that, my friend, is exactly how the Dailies were originally intended to work. Something you can usually accomplish – without deviating from what you want to do – during your normal course of play. I am glad you enjoy them and can do them quickly. I suspect you are comfortable in more than just one game mode (PvP/PvE/WvW).

The first time they changed up dailies, they became more restrictive. More specific goals were made. That made it hard to follow your “normal course of play” unless you normally enjoy playing more than one game mode. They’ve been that way ever since, and those of us who only want to play one mode feel a certain bitterness when lack of choice in our area of comfort makes it seem as if we’re being forced to do unpleasant stuff.

Dailies do not exist to be fun. Dailies do not exist to provide rewards. Dailies do not exist for any reason other than to incentivize people to participate in content that they do not normally do, whether it’s moving them to underplayed maps, into PvP, or into WvW.

Asking for them to make it easier to complete Dailies without doing content you don’t normally do is pretty pointless, since it will never happen as it directly conflicts with the entire point of the dailies.

Wow. Just… wow. I can’t remember the last time I heard something so very wrong.

If Dailies aren’t for fun, or for rewards, then where’s this “incentive” thing you speak of for doing them? (You can’t be talking about earning Achievement Points… there are no decent rewards down that path).

The entire point of Dailies is absolutely not to make people do things they don’t normally do. This is a GAME. They retain players by making things FUN. Being told where to go and what to do isn’t fun. That is why people aren’t happy when left with such a narrow band of options.

And THAT is what the OP is asking for. More options. Not easier tasks. More choices. I would be happy to see the super-simple stuff disappear entirely (Vistas/Gathering) and have more challenging things to do – if we had more choices!

For example, one PvE option could be: “Do this, this, or this mini-dungeon.” That gives us more choice, and also helps keep any single mini-dungeon from turning into an overcrowded zergfest. (You would only get Dailies credit for doing ONE of those mini dungeons).

Another PvE option could be: “Defeat this, this, or this World Boss”. Choices again, and it can also help people that have time constraints and aren’t able to wait around a couple hours until a specific World Boss appears.

It’s easy. You can still keep it set to 4 PvE, 4 PvP, and 4 WvW, but just give each one 3 options apiece. More choice. More diversity. More fun.

PvEers being picked on for not owning HoT?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Do you personally own Heart of Thorns? Because as far as I understand, only people who own Heart of Thorns get the HoT dailies, not all players. And this is why it’ll be coming up for you. Similar to how players with no Level 80 characters won’t get Cursed Shore Event Completer.

I was not aware of that. Yes, I have HoT. I made the observation and thought it seemed unfair.

I would dearly love to see more choices though. So many cool new ones.

Of today’s 4 PvE Dailies, two of them require you to own Heart of Thorns.

Yes, I know all of the old arguments. Trying to get us into new places. Trying to get us to experience other areas of the game outside our comfort zone. Etc., etc. You really don’t need to repeat them again. We’ve all heard ’em a million times.

I’m just pointing it out so that maybe (yeah, right) they’ll be more careful in their selections.

Just sayin’.

Actually, I loved all of the tons of new Dailies they are adding into the lineup. But I was hoping that with so much new stuff they were finally going to give us more than 4 in each area to choose from. 5 or (dare I say it) 6 Dailies from each area? Alas not. (Sigh).

Shared Inventory Slot [Merged]

Hamfast.8719

and yes it DOES make more sense to have it as the very first slot on your inventory!

For people that NEED a shared Inventory slot, I am sure this makes sense.

For people that mostly play just one character and don’t need a shared Inventory slot, it makes more sense to keep it out of the way.

There are two sides to every story. Both sides here have equally valid points for where the slot should be positioned, hence the suggestion to make it’s positioning customizable like the other bags.

And so what if it is hard to do? These guys added entire stories worth of new content every two weeks for two years. I think they’re up to a little database management.

I haven’t programmed in many years, but it sounds like a fairly basic, simple-to-reprogram task to me. I’m betting that the Reddit quote was an off-the-cuff response to what he figured was an unimportant situation to most people. I suspect now they are looking at it a little more seriously, and working on a solution.

CONFESSIONS OF A CRAZY PERSON

Call me crazy.

On my main character, I carry 10 full sets of armor (not counting what I am currently wearing.) Each set of armor also has it’s corresponding weapon. For those of you keeping track, that makes 70 slots reserved for “Fashion Wars”. Yes, I have the “Fashion Collector” title. Yes, I am a Role Player from way back. Instead of paying for my eccentricities with tons of Transmutation Charges, I pay with Inventory space. It also makes changing builds faster and cheaper with different stats for different armors.

With so much space taken up by gear, I need to be very organized. And I am. See the first diagram below. As you can see, I lay my Inventory out in 10 columns, each column housing a full set of gear. These are in Safe Bags so that they don’t accidentally get sorted or sold.

I have 40 slots of “normal” space for adventuring loot. It’s plenty of room. And I can easily look at the window and mentally tell where my normal bags leave off (the top 4 rows) and where the safe bags begin.

Most of the Inventory fits on my screen. I only need to scroll to see the very bottom row (reserved for miscellaneous stuff – food, toys etc.). Of course, if I show bags individually, I could hide the Shared slot. But then I would be scrolling a LOT. So I don’t like to do that.

Now look at the second diagram. This is what I am stuck with after the addition of a shared slot.

I have to pause and think a second about that shifted column. It’s harder to instantly visualize the area shaded in yellow. I don’t want to accidentally put a piece of my head armor in there and sell it off with my loot.

I have one character of every Profession, but I play my “Main” 95% of the time. I really never had a personal need for a shared Inventory slot. Certainly not at the very top. If I have to have one, I want it at the bottom since I wouldn’t be using it a lot.

Seriously… I appreciate the gesture, but I need a Shared Slot about as much as I needed those 9 Queen Jenna minis. I would gladly return the slot if it could be arranged. I would rather have control over my own Inventory.

So yeah, call me crazy. But I bet I’m not the only one. And I am sure other people have different reasons that are just as legitimate. I just wanted to take the time to give the Developers a visual representation of how this can have a tangible negative effect on some players’ Quality of Life.

I didn’t think I would get much out of this update, but the firefight clutter-removal and the restoration of my fireballs – trivial as that may seem – were a long awaited dream. Thank you for that. Please consider doing something about the Shared Inventory slot for those of us that have been negatively impacted by it.

SUGGESTION: Glider Equip/Unequip Toggle

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hamfast.8719

Just stop holding down the space bar, you only need to tap it in order to jump.

You were right, Zoltar. I’m getting “Learn to Play” responses now.

During my self imposed jump-training camp, I determined that the longer I hold the spacebar, the further I jump. (Or maybe it’s higher. Or both.)

It’s not a huge difference distance-wise from simply tapping, but I definitely do notice one. It’s the same as with simple ground movement. A quick tap of a movement key let’s you shuffle a few inches in one direction, but holding the same key down for a half second longer moves you a couple of feet.

There are jumps that I cannot make with a quick tap of the spacebar, and holding the spacebar down to lengthen my jump deploys my wings now, sending me soaring beyond my intended landing spot.

Much of my reason for the request IS jumping. (Not only full fledged “puzzles”, but many simple jumps in the general world as well where I find myself going someplace I didn’t intend to go).

I am not a “natural” jumper – in fact I worked long and hard just to become competent. Early on I had days where it nearly made me rage-quit the game entirely. Today I still have bad jumping days where I recognize that I just need to give up for awhile and try again later.

Now that I’m pretty comfortable jumping, all of a sudden I’m soaring over my intended landing spot a lot. A very frustrating turn of events. Not rage-quit frustrating, but why shouldn’t we be able to equip or un-equip a glider just like any other piece of gear?

It shoudn’t be related to the model quality option. Just give us a drop-down menu:

(option 3 isn’t really necessary actually as we can already hide our backpack from the equipment window).

Flame Burst "Line of Sight" Bug

Meaning it’s not a bug? It’s supposed to require line-of-sight?

That’s fine, if so. But it’s still often keeping me from using the skill when I am right on top of my target. (And if I’m in a zerg, other players should not block me from having LoS – they don’t do that in any other situation).

Once again, it only seems to be this particular skill in which I’ve run into this. And it isn’t even a “missile” style skill that travels from my toon to her target, where you would expect LoS to be pertinent.

Need a TOGGLE for Toon Facing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hamfast.8719

Hamfast.8719

This isn’t recent, either. PCs have always looked when where you point the camera with rclick.

No… It’s new-ish, definitely (within the last 6 months). I have always used right-click for both viewing and movement (my arthritis bothers me less with my middle finger, so I prefer the right-click). I am trying to get used to left-click for viewing, but then I find myself dashing off in the wrong direction when I want to move again.

It saddens me that GW has always been about changing and removing stuff without giving us any options. I (mostly) love the look and feel of the game, but the direction in which they’ve been steering it from launch has had me screaming for an alternative for a long time. THAT is the option I want to see the most: I want to be able to play a comparable game that isn’t always taking stuff away from me, and that has some definite sense of where they want to go. Guild Wars pulls us in so many directions that none of the destinations feel polished, and the bugs keep stacking up. But I haven’t found that mythical game yet, so my options remain limited.

Need a TOGGLE for Toon Facing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hamfast.8719

I am a big fan of MORE EMOTES and MORE IDLE ANIMATIONS and MORE DANCES, etc. All those extra character movements bring LIFE to the world, and help prevent a sense of stagnation.

That being said, I hate the recently-added feature that makes my toon turn her head to look in the direction my camera is facing. Mainly because it looks extremely unnatural. The head cranks around too far, and the body tilts up or down at weird angles.

Besides, my camera angle is generally set ABOVE my character, looking down at her from an angle. That means that whenever I am standing in town looking around the place, my toon appears to be searching the ground for her lost contact lenses.

Please make this a toggle-able OPTION.

Flame Burst "Line of Sight" Bug

I haven’t paid as much attention to the game in the past half year or so as I used to, so forgive me if this has been mentioned before or if it is a new “feature” that is “working as intended”. But it feels like a bug to me.

More and more often, my Staff Elementalist skill #3 – “Flame Burst” – has been refusing to work for me, citing “No line of sight”. It never used to have a line of sight restriction, but now it often remains un-castable even when I’m practically on top of my target. This is the only skill/spell in the game that has ever brought up the “No line of sight” notification for me.

I’m not totally against restrictions like this, but like I said it seems that this is the only skill affected, and I am experiencing it even when my toon is poking her target in the belly-button with her index finger. Therefore I’m thinking “BUG!

Swiftness is NOT a boon for everyone!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hamfast.8719

Hamfast.8719

iirc the switftness the pact mastery tag gives you only applies itself in cities. so you won’t have to worry about it.

As mentioned in my original post, I do have to worry about it in cities. I have an extra character slot for creating new characters with the intent of “mapping” all 6 of the cities for the Transmutation Stone reward. There’s a fair amount of jumping involved in getting to the various Vistas. Swiftness interferes with that.

I am not against Swiftness. It has its place. I just want to be personally in control of whether I have Swiftness or not. More and more, they are dishing Swiftness out as if it is a reward that everybody wants all the time. I do not. I am asking that it be made into a limited area of effect (preferably self-only). Or be able to click the icon and dismiss it. I hate having to leave my party of friends just to kill the Swiftness on myself.

Swiftness is NOT a boon for everyone!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hamfast.8719

Out of all the things that people have complained about in GW2 this one seems really silly to me.

I was doing the Pig Iron Quarry jumping puzzle high up over the lake. Some idiot near me suddenly applied Swiftness to me and I fellyn to the water.

Seriously, though, it’s an annoyance to me. Not just for JPs, but I feel “reckless” moving at an increased speed. On occasion I use self-imposed Swiftness for cross country travel. But for the most part I prefer to live without it.

Swiftness is something that mostly is for the good. But unlike all ten other Boons in the game, it physically alters the way your character responds to your control. That is not a light matter. So please cut back on the ability for others to impose it upon us – because there are times when this particular Boon can feel more like a Condition.

Swiftness is NOT a boon for everyone!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hamfast.8719

I am probably in a minority, but I do NOT enjoy swiftness. It messes up my timing for making jumps. And I just plain don’t care to zip along with those white “swooshes” streaming out behind my toon. I feel less in control when I’m traveling so fast. (I am also a confirmed anti-zergist, so that crowd probably won’t understand my complaint).

I have brought this subject up several times in the past. Once because of my annoyance at having to stand still and wait until Swiftness died off when another player used it near me on a jumping puzzle. And I brought it up another time because Swiftness was being used as a “reward” for leaving an underpopulated zone before it forced me out.

Now it comes up again. I came back to the game after a short time off to find that I have swiftness in town because some of my party members have the Pact Commander Mastery.

STOP IT ALREADY! You’re killing me here! (Literally, when I overshoot a jump!) From my previous threads, I know I am not the only person who doesn’t care to use Swiftness. If I buy Heart of Thorns, you can bet I will be skipping the Pact Commander Mastery line. I will miss the enhanced Revival abilities, but it’s a sacrifice I will just have to make in order to maintain my sanity.

Yes, I know it’s only in town. That makes it less “serious” as far as gameplay is concerned, but it doesn’t make it any less annoying. And I hate having to leave my party when I want to map the major cities to earn Transmutation Stones.

Would you PLEASE do something? Either remove the “whole party” effect of the Swiftness from Pact Commander, or allow us to DISMISS the effect somehow, or change it to something else entirely?

Buggy Female Norn Idle Animations

She does not, repeat NOT, have anything targeted!

This is maybe related to the camera height adjustment update…? Angling my view up or down seems to trigger a new spasm of head-cranking, while not changing my view allows this behavior to reduce in frequency.

As far as the tail-wagging goes, you have it all wrong, OP. Don’t look at it like a puppy dog who’s happy to see his master. Charr are closer to cats, and cats swish their tails when they’re getting irritated and ready to demonstrate how their claws work.

GW2 "Spinoff" Rumor? Primarily Underwater?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hamfast.8719

Is it true?

I heard they are releasing a small “spinoff” game that is primarily based underwater, in order to “fine tune” and eventually expand that aspect of GW2. (Presumably to prepare us for the eventual campaign against the elder dragon “Bubbles”).

I heard it will be called “Gilled Wars”.

*rant* extremly bad rng luck?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hamfast.8719

Dunno if it’s intentional or not… but before I hit 150% Magic Find, I got a gold drop about once every 3 months. After 150% I’ve been getting a gold drop about once every 3 weeks. (That was back when I was playing a few hours of PvE every day. I’ve dropped way off in my playing time and “gotten a life” somewhat this summer, so naturally the gold drops have fallen off again).

So Magic Find seems to have made a difference for me, although not in the way it is supposedly supposed to.

Other than that observation, I have always had poor luck with drops. Go ahead and step away from the game for awhile if you’re frustrated, OP. It won’t improve your luck, but you’ll be surprised how easy it is to actually live without it, especially with nothing new going on. I almost forgot how much I could accomplish in the real world, and it’s a good feeling to be free of the yoke of GW2 for awhile. I have much better luck outside of the game.

Dyeing Preview Broken?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Hamfast.8719

Hamfast.8719

Here’s what I’m seeing:

  • When you first APPLY a new dye scheme, everything in the previewer except for your boots (and sometimes head armor) changes into the current color selected (whether or not that color is actually being used on your armor).
  • This color does not go away, even if you reapply a new scheme with a new color selected. You need to zone or log out to reset the previewer.

The problem does not affect all of my characters. This is affecting (for me):

  • Female Sylvari Ranger (Head Armor does change)
  • Male Charr Warrior (Head Armor does not change)
  • Female Asura Mesmer (Head Armor does not change)
  • Male Asura Engineer (Head Armot does not change)
  • Male Asura Necromancer (Head Armor does change)

This is not affecting (for me):

  • Female Human Elementalist
  • Female Human Guardian
  • Female Human Warrior
  • Female Norn Guardian
  • Male Asura Thief

As you can see, it doesn’t appear to be a Male or Female only thing, or a specific Race thing, an Armor Weight thing, or even a Profession thing. Just certain combinations.

Please compare notes with me. Are your results consistent with mine? Does it affect the same combos for you? Or is this totally random? What about the Sex/Race/Professions that I don’t cover here?

Let’s give ’em all the data we can so that this bug gets fixed A.S.A.P!

"Fixed" Monk Outfit - Updated July 28th

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hamfast.8719

After sending in a refund request stating that the new version doesn’t look good anymore I got this:

Purchases from the Gem Store are seldom refundable, and in this case we are not able to provide a refund of your purchase.

I am sorry that we could not fulfill you request in this situation, but please let us know if you have any other questions we can address.

After specifying that ANet changed it and now I don’t have the product I spent gems for anymore I got:

We understand your concerns related to the changes done to the Monk’s Outfit. However, because of the nature of outfits, we are unable to do any refund of the purchase. We appreciate your comprehension.

After noting that other people got refunds “support” replied with:

While we understand that you would have preferred to receive a different response to your petition, we must reiterate that we are unable to fulfill your request.

Any suggestions?

If you haven’t done so already, create a brand new support ticket. Don’t keep responding to the old one. If your request history is right in front of the support technician, he will probably be obliged to back up the decision of another.

Use all your “ammo” in the new ticket – you bought the outfit, saw no clipping issues, then the outfit was modified by the artists after-the-fact to the point where you no longer want to wear it. Hopefully you’ll get a more sympathetic support technician this time, and hopefully they don’t have a record of your original ticket in a place where it will jump out and make itself noticed.

Don’t point out that others have gotten refunds… that might prejudice them against you, making them feel as if you are telling them you deserve a refund instead of asking them if you may have one. Be polite.

Good luck!

Guild Wars 2 is clearly the descendant of WoW

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hamfast.8719

Hamfast.8719

I think the OP means to say that GW2 is the closest thing to an “heir apparent” for World of Warcraft as far as he’s concerned, not the descendant. GW2 has made him pretty much quit WoW and he sees a long future for himself in the GW2 universe.

For myself, I wouldn’t call GW2 a “descendant”, because I have played since the Guild Wars 1 Betas. And although GW2 is a totally different game, they are linked by lore and one is an extension of the other. Since the Guild Wars franchise started only one year after WoW, I can’t view it as a “descendant”.

Don’t get me started on “Angry Joe” He may have a large fan base, but he says in his HoT interview that he left the game for 2 years and never played LS1 or LS2. So I don’t care how popular he is, he’s no voice of Guild Wars 2 in my book.

GW2 and WoW will eventually fade away. If there is ever a “WoW Killer” (…and does there need to be one?) it will be WoW2.

There’s almost nothing I can say in this thread that won’t get me into trouble. lol

Golly, Vayne… I think you’ve found the perfect opening line for nearly all the threads you join in on! (Poor fella…)

Character Select Screen Changed (for worse)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hamfast.8719

Please revert this change, whatever reason it was made. Not everyone plays the meta Female Humans and Charr look amazingly bad on the character select screen now with the new camera angle.

The “meta Female Humans” (mine anyway) look much worse as well. They now look as if they are staring down at the ground trying to avoid your gaze. It’s like a police lineup, and they are trying to keep from being noticed.

Charr are bad because half their right side is cut off by the text.

Big vs small charr, jumping puzzle?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hamfast.8719

Hamfast.8719

My Charr has the Endless Toy Soldier Tonic. It makes him almost Asura-sized for those low-overhead spaces. Certain other tonics can also shrink you yet allow you to retain the ability to jump.

The downside is that you can’t fight. If you are in a spot where you might get attacked, it will hurt. You also don’t receive the benefit (I think) of the 50% Fall Damage Reduction trait. Otherwise, tonics can be a very helpful workaround for tall characters that have low ceilings to contend with.

Will Flameseeker Phophecies ever be buffed?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Flameseeker Prophecies is the prettiest Legendary because it doesn’t have all auras and footprints and other Las Vegas light show nonsense.

Be proud wielding it! I always admire it when I see it. I wish I had one of my own. The other “legendary” users tend to look like carnival clowns with all the particle effects drawing the emphasis away from the beauty of the weapon itself.

I say “No!” No change to Flameseeker Prophecies! It’s the only Legendary worth showing off as-as!

I’m afraid of them giving out refunds… does that mean they aren’t planning on fixing the fix?

If that’s the case, I’m going to hop on the refund bandwagon too.

Hiya, Hamfast!

That was mainly why I waited until Gaile made a response on the matter. If the ‘fix’ was going to be fixed, I’d have waited to see what it looked like then. However, her response of ‘passing our concerns along’ told me that it is unlikely to be looked into further and that it’d likely be staying exactly as it is right now. This prompted me to seek the refund as it is very unlikely to be reverted to the pre-fix visual that I purchased but with clipping issues corrected. I recommend your seeking the refund immediately, personally.

Thanks for the advice, StinVec. I applied for and received a prompt refund, along with the form-letter cautioning me to be more careful about my gem transactions. (As if I should have known it was going to be changed after I bought it).

But maybe it is my own fault. How many minis have I bought that no longer have their sound effects? How many people purchased the black wings only to have them turn into foam when the white wings were released? How many people wanted refunds when the original Flamekissed armor set was completely changed? How many Legendary Weapons have changed after people already owned the one they liked?

But I’m happy they refunded my gems. I used to spend tons of money at the gem store, but I have been extremely stingy ever since they removed Town Clothes. In light of this scenario, I will continue to hold onto my gems. But since I still have the Monk’s Outfit in my Inventory, I will re-spend my refunded gems on something else if it ever gets properly fixed to where I can wear it again.

I don’t know what to advise. It would seem good sense to avoid buying new gem store items for at least a week, until bugs have had time to surface. But even if you own something for a long time, that seems to be no assurance it won’t ever be changed. That’s the problem with virtual goods.

Useless NPCs in LA Bank should be removed.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hamfast.8719

Hamfast.8719

I have had this gripe since launch. More often than necessary, I wind up interacting with a useless NPC at the Divinity’s Reach and Hoelbrak banks instead of the bankers themselves.

The solution isn’t to take them away; they provide “flavor”. What needs to happen is to make them unclickable, so we can’t interact with them at all. (Heck, the majority of the NPCs in the world have nothing to say to us anyway).

  • NPCs standing around next to “important” NPCs (the guys we need to interact with) should be disabled so that we can’t select them.
  • NPCs that move around should have their paths altered so that they never wander into an important NPC’s sphere of influence.

The Festivals centered around the Lion Statue. Now it’s only fit for an Arbor Day celebration.

That aside, I still say we still need a few more Lion Statues around town. I only know of the one at Fort Marriner, which I rarely get over to see. They need to be more numerous and prominent.

The Grand Piazza used to be the “center” of all our various festivals. Now it seems to be some sort of shrine to the Pale Tree.

The whole city seems more spread out. It is no longer a social hub if there is no obvious central gathering spot.

Move the Sylvari area someplace else. Their influence upon LA’s new design seems to dominate the other races… very strange given the recent Living Story incidents that have made them distrusted.

Put the beloved Lion statue back at the “Lion’s Court” POI where it belongs, and make it an obvious rendezvous spot again. A place for all the different races to gather. Not just the ones in a vegetative state.

I Miss the Lion Statue!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hamfast.8719

Hamfast.8719

I’m still learning my way around New LA, but I see more lion statues in the loading screen than in the actual town.

There’s one waaaaaaay up on top of a portal at Fort Marriner (is it still called that?) I don’t WvW, and whenever I need to go there for some reason I do it from the icon at the top left corner of my screen. So I am almost never at Fort Marriner for any reason.

That’s the only Lion statue I see. This is supposedly Lion’s Arch!

We should have a Lion Statue where the old one was at the “Lion’s Court” Point of Interest. (The area seems to be some sort of Sylvari “Pale Tree” shrine now. Very strange that they should have the largest influence in the new look of our city, given their current strained relations with the other races).

Another statue should be erected in the middle of Coriolis Plaza, where it is the first thing travelers see when they enter town through one of the Asuran Gates from another city.

It would be nice as well to have some smaller lions flanking the entrances from Gendarran Fields and Bloodtide Coast.

In other words, Lions need to greet people as they come in to town, and they need to be in the middle of the primary gathering spots. (Although I don’t imagine the old Festival center at the Grand Piazza will be as festive for all races anymore having been taken over by the Sylvari shrine. Maybe we need to talk about that too? It’s pretty, but it’s in the wrong spot. It’s as if we no longer have a central location for festivals.)
