I actually think condi engi is one of the stronger builds in the game. All the time you spend shrunken, blocking, or invis you’re still doing great damage.

Edit: but yes, ele is better obviously. It’s the best class in the game right now so comparing yourself is pointless.

Hammerguard.9834

I’ve been playing S/F ele in sPvP with the Fresh Air trait and noticed a few problems. I’d first like to say that it’s actually quite a weak build in the current meta. Damage is mostly low other then landing fire skills which is where the main problems come in. Fire 2, I get it, wait then big damage. The problem is that this is practically the only skill available most of the time. Fire 3 has too big a cooldown, Fire 4 is useless for power builds other than might and keeping someone from self rezzing, and Fire 5 is whatever. The cast times in fire are also ridiculously high making Signet of Restoration less effective. Air skills actually all seem very good. Water 2 isn’t reliable enough for the main damage source in water. Water 3 has too long a cooldown. Water 4 and 5 are good. Earth is also fine except for Earth 2. I’m just not a fan of how it functions though what it does it does well. Anyways, I’ve barely played anything out of d/d, air, water, arcana, triple cantrip and was wondering how people feel this set is. I’ve been having fun with it and the super speed is cool though not as useful as someone would think as it doesn’t effect strafing speed which is what you should be doing most of the time.

Hammerguard.9834

You guys can say that the Rev lacks the same amount of customization as other classes ,but its equally traded for more versatility in combat. I don’t see any other classes getting 2 heal skills , 6 utilities , and 2 elites accessible in combat.

It seems no one understands the concept of a trade-off anymore. You guys will whine so much they will give you extra utilities even though they aren’t needed then will start asking for access to 3 Legends at once. It’s clear you guys just want Revs to be the be all end all of all the classes.

You’re kidding right? Revenants have two sets of utilities because that’s their class mechanic. Do Revenants have steal, pets, burst skills, virtues, death shoud, shatters, or tool kits? No, they have legend stances. That doesn’t mean they should be handicapped of options.

Regardless of the elite spec, the class should feel just as complete as the other 8 professions have for 3 years. Bringing in a new class with elite specs already in mind is no excuse for it to feel lifeless pre-elite spec.

If we were to turn a guardian into a revenant, we would throw away their virtues and give them stances. A meditation stance, a shouts stance, etc. Are guardians locked into just 3 meditations or just 3 shouts? No, they have options to customize their stances and the same privilege should be granted to revenants. I haven’t even watched the glint stuff yet but that shouldn’t matter. Reaper Changes for Next BWE

Hammerguard.9834

Nice to see the majority of feedback and suggestions made it through. There are two issues you’re likely to have complaints about though…

1) The blast and end damage on Death’s Charge is too high for it’s cd and mechanic; at least from a PvP perspective

2) Chilled To The Bone is now almost as quick a cast as Jade Wind, has double the damage, and has in general more utility. I guess the long CD offsets some of that but I do feel the changes to this were in the wrong direction.

1) It’s literally their only movement skill.

2) Revenants can use two elites…

I’m not a fan of the Jalis changes. Why are the legends becoming so much more niche? Like Jalis will in no circumstances ever be used for damage now. Players are going to camp on a their desired stances even more now cause each legend is only capable of doing one thing. Ventari was already in this position and now Jalis is right there with him. This is horrible for the class.

I’m not seeing it.

If damage is really all your concerned about you’re probably going to be alternating Mallyx and Shiro on CD for maximum up-time on their upkeep skills.

Nothing is stopping you from using other legends, but… if your goal is as one-dimensional as “Max DPS” there is generally going to be one single best solution.

That’s exactly the probelm. The build just makes itself. I can never hope to take Jalis or Ventari and expect to put out nearly as much DPS. I am forced into something and that’s the death of this class for me. Hopefully Druid won’t be as brain dead.

Nope it will be cause just like every other class in this game and every class in every MMO on the market there is an optimal build for w/e content you are doing and its only one link away (metabattle.com). Perhaps you should try League of Legends were build diversity goes a long way.

Unlike the Revenant every other profession has multiple useful builds for different aspects of the game. Yes, there is a meta but that doesn’t mean there are 2 or 3 other builds that can compete. In the case of Revenant, there will only be a meta build because everything about the class is so overly defined. There is no secret combination that can produce similar results. It’s all out there for the player to simply use rather than create. This will probably be the most boring class I’ve ever play, in any game.

In my opinion, Dire gear is really the only thing that makes conditions feel very strong in smaller-scale fights as it’s harder to counter-pressure something that does potentially it’s max damage for how tanky it is unlike in sPvP where Dire doesn’t exist. I think it’s mainly just low-risk/high-reward using conditions with these circumstances in WvW, which is the problem with a lot of builds in this game. I do like the idea of removing the -/+% condition foods from WvW that others have mentioned.

Burning is a bit strong at the moment as everybody knows, other than that I don’t think damaging conditions are too bad if you have an idea of what you’re doing.

There’s a reason Anet stuck the condi traitlines with crit procs. Condi builds sacrifice a lot not going into crit chance on any class.

WvW Transfering Anet?

I have a feeling Anet doesn’t want anyone to join T1 so they all spread out to other tiers. Then when T1 dies because they can’t recruit any new guilds or players simply can’t even get their friends on their server, all the dedicated WvW players will get kittened off and quit GW2. Subsequently WvW dies on all servers because Anet thought there was enough players interested to spread out between all servers… but there’s not.

So the answer to your question, SmokeyFrag, is when WvW dies.

@OP

Only going to comment on things I disagree with.

- I like Death’s Charge as is. It’s a small dashing skill and I don’t think it needs to be encumbered with targeting mechanics. Especially if a player doesn’t have range limited in the options menu, this skill is going to be godly annoying to use for max distance.

- Greatsword AA, I agree it should be changed but I would like if it was different from the guardian hammer. Maybe the last attack in the chain can hit 2 or 3 separate times in its swing animation, applying chill with each one.

- No reason the damage on "Nothing can save you" couldn’t be higher, along with all shouts for that matter.

Just going to throw in that I feel resistance should be somewhere on a shout for the Reaper. It’s so crucial to be able to fight through soft cc and we only have one trait that can help with it.

I want to have an emergency escape option where they are temporarily invulnerable but can’t do anything other than move around—similar to mist form and elixir s. Of course, there’s no cooldown on revenant utilities so perhaps the energy cost could be in the upper 50s-60s.

Also, more utilities to fill in the utility difference between the revenant and the other eight classes would be nice.

This is a common misconception. People are constantly making an argument that Revenant should be the opposite of thieves, aka, cooldown only on weapon skills and energy only on utilities, though some Revenant utilities DO have cooldowns. Both skill types already use both resources.

Edit: On that note, let’s be honest, Anet. Is 4 seconds taunt on one person or 2 seconds taunt on two people simultaneously such a sin?

Broseph… If you want to stay in Ventari, then ease up on the energy consumption. It’s as simple as that. Because weapon skills have an energy cost to them, their cooldowns are permitted to be extremely low. Take away that energy cost and you force the weapon cooldowns to rise. Now, what you’re asking for is to basically use skills before the cooldown is up. No bueno. Just stop being selfish with your energy and it’s all good. Aight?

I think the energy problems people are having is basically because of too much mashing. Over item people will learn to conserve their energy or burst it when they feel it’s safe too. What’s good about it is that it allows for both types of play. Burst or sustain.

Another thing is that I don’t think people are swapping legends enough. It’s a free 50 energy people aren’t utilizing.

Then again, it’s Anets job to make each stance somewhat appealing, and more utilities for each legend would help with that. :P

OMG, Kidel. Get a clue. You keep thinking the wrong thing in every thread. Whenever people ask for more utilities they mean that each legend has their own set of 5 utilities locked for that legend only. Nobody wants universal utilities available for every legend. That would completely defeat the purpose of Revenant.

When in demon stance, for example, you have a choice of 5 utilities to use instead of the forced 3 they have now. None of those utilities will be available to any other stance. Instead, those other stances will also have their own set of 5 utilities to choose from.

Mesmer and Chronomancer could play like two separate classes rather than Chronomancer simply feeling like an upgraded Mesmer. You do have to give up something: an entire trait line. Do you think all Mesmers get Chronomancer as a free fourth trait line or something? There is opportunity cost to it.

This is true of all elite specializations so Chronomancer would need to sacrifice more in order to equate themselves to Reapers or Dragonhunters.
