I dunno exactly, work with me here. ^^;; For starters, kills will give 5 to 10 contribution points (CP). Maybe 1 point per 3 minutes while a tower or keep is contested? There’s WvW XP gain system already in place, maybe tweak it a bit to be more rewarding to both defenders and attackers (and raiders)?

Leagues!

in PvP

Posted by: HaxTester.9816

HaxTester.9816

So one of the league’s name is Amber Division. I think the name’s too gory, and it might put off some new players. Amber = dried sap of a tree, sap of a tree = blood of the tree. That’s like saying you’re in dried blood league. I propose changing the name of Amber League, I suggest renaming it to Wood League, which is more appropriate, since wood is sturdy and used in a variety of things.

Another change that would be nice is the arrangement of the gems league. Right now it’s Emerald League, Sapphire League, Ruby League, Diamond League, then finally Legend League. Since I like Pokemon Blue the most, and Red the least, I suggest rearranging it instead to Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire, Black Lion Gems, then Legends League.

I’ve recorded two videos of Mind Wrack recharge, with and without alacrity. Without alacrity, Mind Wrack recharges in about 10.152 seconds. With 1 second alacrity, it recharges in 8.843 seconds. That’s a difference of 1.309 seconds. Can somebody explain why alacrity does this? I know it reduces recharge of skills by 66%, but shouldn’t it reduce 0.40 seconds per second of alacrity instead of 1.309 seconds. I think it’s using a different calculation formula, maybe it’s calculation is based on the whole recharge time, instead of just adding milliseconds to the recharge ticker.

Is there going to be a penalty system for making bad decisions as pact commander, similar to other RPGs? I’d like to have my decisions to have a greater impact on the world, whether it be good or terribad, and I’d like to have lots of options to choose from depending on several factors (such as if I started this and that quest beforehand, etc.), but I think anet doesn’t have enough time and energy (and morale and motivation perhaps) for that kind of complex decision pathway system. It just feels like our characters are like mary sue characters where you can do no wrong. It’s like receiving a trophy for counting 1 to 10.

The Hitpoint System is Outdated.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: HaxTester.9816

HaxTester.9816

I view Hitpoints as ‘death chance’ or ‘chance of survival’. In real life, you have life or death. But for example, you were in a horrific accident, and your chance of survival is 20% says the doctor. In RPG terms that means you now only have 20% Hitpoints left. So, what does that 20% Hitpoints mean in RPG. It means that you are more likely to die on the next attack that hits you. So how come you have 20% Hitpoints, how come your chance of survival is now only 20%, how come you are more likely to die on the next attack? Perhaps you took an arrow to the knee, perhaps 20 arrows too much. j/k It means the circumstances are against you. The odds are against you that you will die soon. RPGs are just trying simulate real life in a fantasy situation, but simulations aren’t perfect, so we use estimates and numbers to represent and describe you (health, strength, dexterity, skill points, etc). Plus one of the cornerstones of RPGs are epic battles, so one shot one kill is a bummer, to hell with realism.

This is not the 20% Hitpoints I was thinking of mind you.

Multiple trinkets for stat variety

in PvP

Posted by: HaxTester.9816

HaxTester.9816

Take for example the Valkyrie amulet. You have Power, you have Vitality, and then you have Ferocity. Ferocity. With no Precision you have 4% chance to use that kittening Ferocity. Before you could put points into a precision based trait line to gain some crit chance, but now that traits and stats are separated (which is a cool change mind you), where do you get the Precision to utilize that Ferocity? Sure you can use Sigil of Intelligence, but it only becomes useful 3 to 5 seconds at a time, or maybe you refrain from attacking and spend your crit chance “tactically”. What are you gonna do with Sigil of Intelligence, take pot shots every 3 seconds? You kittening might as well use a Berzerker amulet if you want to use Ferocity. “Oh there’s runes that give you 175 precision”, you might say. . . . Bwahaha. That’s only an 8% increase to crit chance. Really now arenanet. Are you guys so meta headed right now you’ve lost sight of your own game’s design? Really?

Oh noes pride incoming, no changes will be made, pride was hurt.

Multiple trinkets for stat variety

in PvP

Posted by: HaxTester.9816

HaxTester.9816

Could we have multiple trinkets in PvP, instead of just one trinket (amulet), so that we could have more stat variety? With the separation of stat points from traits, all the bonus stat points we get from the traits are consolidated into character gear stats. In the case of PvP, it all went to the amulet trinket. Your character stats is your amulet. Your character depends on this one item to define it. The problem with this is that it gimps the variability of character stats, something that the game offers extensively in it’s other modes. Have you lost sight of what the PvP trinket was meant to do, which was to simplify stat combination selection for the rest of your PvP gear (and you could even change the jewel before to further customize it)? Simplification is good, but I think you oversimplified it, you kitten your own system in the process of simplification.

Regarding the nature of the fractals

in Lore

Posted by: HaxTester.9816

HaxTester.9816

I’ve been thinking about the nature of the fractals, are the fractals glimpses of the past or are they visions of the future? We have fractals that mimic past events, such as the Molten Furnace fractals, and we also have fractals that allude to a grim future, such as the Uncategorized fractal (Rata Sum in ruins). My theory is that the fractals are the remains of destroyed world, the aether is transformed from ‘memories’ of the past and future. The fractals is like the “ghost of the world” and it keeps reforming and reappearing long after the physical world was destroy. What remained was a swirling ghostly mist of primordial aether that materializes these “fractal islands”. The creation of more of these fractal islands must have been ignited when Dessa ventured deeper into the fractal mists, with herself becoming one with the mists. Remember, the mind of a creature is closely tied to the aether of the world, it’s like the world itself is alive and one sentient being.

Two separate timers for points

in WvW

Posted by: HaxTester.9816

HaxTester.9816

I’d like to suggest two separate ticks or timers for gaining points in WvW.

  • minor 15 minute timers
  • major 4 hour timers

This is to emphasize participation and to put major WvW battles in a schedule (for those who have limited time to play), while keeping roaming and squad based operations beneficial. The main reason for having two separate timers is to answer the “problem” of nightcapping, which is capturing objectives when majority of the opposition are asleep at night, thus less to no enemies on the map (broken when your world has a more evenly distributed player base location wise). Here is the break down of the points earned:

		| 15 min. | 4 hour |
Resource camps	| 5 | 28 |
Towers | 10 | 56 |
Keeps | 25 | 140 |
SM Castle	| 35 | 196 |

Basically, the 4 hour timer will constitute 35% of the points while 65% will be from the constant, normal 15 minute timer. What this does is give players incentive to cap as much territory as possible before the 4 hour timer, while rewarding dedicated (or “dedicated” or just insomniac) WvW players’ actions. Maybe we can adjust the point constitution, maybe 50%-50%? Or switch it up, maybe give the 4 hour timer more emphasis in point gains, quality over quantity.

I’m playing a new character and I’m up to the point where Destiny’s Edge meet up in LA (Setting the Stage, Level 40). I remember there were kids playing on the ramp, and them ramping up anticipation of meeting up with the rest of the DE gang for the first time. Now they are absent, nowhere to be seen or heard. What did you do to them? I think they died, or some of them died during the attack on LA, and maybe out of respect they were cut from the act in this update. But isn’t that just erasing their memory? Isn’t that worse than dying, to be lost and forgotten? Please bring the kids back. I won’t continue until they return and see them again, or atleast have an answer from you guys if they will return in the PS sequence.

Cub: I’m Logan, and I’m going to run away.
Child: Hey, that’s not fair. Logan didn’t run away, he went to save the queen.
Cub: That’s running away. His guild needed him. Rytlock wouldn’t have run away.
Progeny: Why don’t you be Rytlock, then?
Cub: Okay, I will. I’m Rytlock Brimstone, you harpy-sniffing dragon. Feel the wrath of my flaming sword!
Child: If he gets to change, I want to change, too. I’m Caithe now.
Progeny: Then I’m Zojja. Your leadership stinks like a skritt cesspool, Eir! You’re the reason we failed.
Child: You can’t be Zojja, you’re the dragon. And I’m not Eir anymore, I’m Caithe.
Child: And Caithe says, “Focus on the dragon, morons.”
Cub: Charr tribunes don’t take orders from kindling. Follow me, everybody! Except you, Logan. You can run back to your girlfriend.
Child: Quit that! He didn’t run away!
Progeny: Ha! I’m the dragon again, and Destiny’s Edge is too busy fighting each other to fight me. Die!
Cub: Scorch it all, the dragon got us! If only Logan didn’t run away and Eir was a better leader.
Child: Yeah? Well…if only Rytlock had stuck to the plan and Zojja wasn’t so cranky!
Progeny: Mmm, Destiny’s Edge tastes delicious. Now I shall conquer the world! Ah-ha-ha-ha!
Child: Okay, everybody stop. This isn’t working. Let’s play “Renegades and Separatists” instead.

Traeharne ?!?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: HaxTester.9816

HaxTester.9816

Most can’t fathom the fact that canon wise, there are multiple commanders of the pact (but from your point of view, you were the head commander), and from what I can tell, each one from personal story choices, meaning there were probably 15 heroes at the minimum who met Trahearne and Destiny’s Edge. You (your character) are one of them. If Guild Wars 2 was written as a book, then the first 15 chapters would be about the beginnings or background story of each of those heroes (ie. human poor girl, human rich girl, human orphan daughter of heroes, etc, etc.). And those stories converge, first at the reunion of Destiny’s Edge, then at some other point when the Pact was formed, so maybe that human poor girl went to side with the Order of Whispers, that human orphan to the Vigil, etc. How can that be, how can there be multiple heroes canon wise? That’s just it, all of the paths are canon, and Trahearne is just the recurring character needed to piece together the others’ stories. When you are a Charr, at one point, a device was used in Orr to track down a corruption of Zhaitan. But this device was invented by an Asura hero if you created an Asura and chosen one of the invention paths. How could that be, I’m a Charr, I made a Charr character, I’m the hero, yet who is this asura “hero” you are talking about. 15 HEROES ARE MOVING THE STORY SIMULTANEOUSLY. Guild Wars 2 is a story about 15 heroes in their quest to defeat one of the elder dragons.

What I’ve noticed though is that after getting a losing streak, I also get a winning streak almost after that, and vice versa. I’ve been thinking about this, can we have world alliances in WvW so that the population of less populated worlds will be consolidated? For example, an alliance between two bronze tier worlds and one silver tier world can be made, or an alliance between two silver tier worlds and one gold tier world can be made, or maybe one bronze and one silver and one gold tier world alliance. I know lore wise, the worlds exist separately and in parallel, but what if the worlds of Old Draenor and New Draenor unite as one (j/k, I’m a lore fanatic)?

Dragon’s name will be Gleam I think. And since Glint sourced her power from Kralkatorrik, she/he/it will probably have powers connected to the earth element. Or not, since the Zephyrites used magic from Glint’s remains that are not earth-like and more “sky”-like. Maybe Glint was a different dragon champion from the others, maybe she was a dragon not born from the power of the elder dragons. Maybe she was just subjugated to the servitude of an elder dragon, and she had powers of her own. She could speak with the minds of sentient races hints of mesmer magic, and mesmer magic also have the ability to distort time and space to some degree. Maybe as a specialization legend, Glint/Gleam will use illusions and time magic. Or maybe we will be able to use modified versions of the Aspects. Or maybe both, we will have both Glint and Gleam as specialization legends.

Also if it gets too op, maybe bind the weapons to the legends, ie. first weapon set goes to the first legend and the second weapon set goes to the second legend.

Plus they have the lowest number of available skills in battle, even though they have access to 2 elites, even though warriors technically only have 17 skills minimum. Still, it kinda feels unnatural and lacking.

I only remembered about the MOBA-like game mode preparation I was doing when I saw that now you can change the heroes you summon to help your team in Stronghold. It finally came true, well sort of. My suggestion is this, can we use miniatures as some sort of replacement for the default minions you summon in Stronghold. I think it will be interesting, with minis having different kinds attacks. Now we will be interested in summoning minions other than “door breakers”.

I see your point. Going back to what you’ve said earlier, then maybe the characters will be confined to a certain area, such as the mercenary agency, where they can’t leave the area until they have fulfilled their assignment.

I’m thinking it will have a limit of 3 to 5. For example, in another game called Granado Espada, you can have a party of 3 and switch between the characters. It will be like switching in and out of an Omega Golem, but instead of an Omega Golem, you will have the stats and skills of your other characters. It doesn’t have to be ‘thief then other characters’ always. You can switch to other characters as main if you get bored with thief.

Should necromancers get their other specialty in Guild Wars 1, which is applying Hexes to enemies? There are already conditions that debilitate enemies, but Hex spells provide unique mechanics and effects. However, I think there’s a reason why Hexes where removed from the game, probably because it taxes the system a lot when checking for each Hex spell in a highly populated environment, such as WvW and boss fights. How about simpler Hexes? I’m looking at PvP mainly with the inclusion of Hexes in the game, but it can be re-purposed to stack like a condition in boss fights and WvW.

Mercenary system: changing chars on the fly

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: HaxTester.9816

HaxTester.9816

I know about the mercenary system of Guild Wars 1. You couldn’t get your mercenaries to use certain skills, for example bear form, and they follow you around like ordinary heroes and henchmen. Although I wish there was a way Marjorie and other characters could follow you around permanently (not just as minis), maybe an elite skill perhaps, or maybe the return of hero/henchmen system, but nah that would tax the system more plus it would add characters to the environment, meaning more graphics to process if lots of people use it. So this is my version of the mercenary system, instead of using your characters all at the same time like in Guild Wars 1, you can still use them in Guild Wars 2, but one at a time. And it incentivizes people to upgrade to buy more mercenary slots because you now retain not just the looks, but also the armor and skills of the character (in Guild Wars 1 the mercenary character will be wearing whatever armor the character was already wearing when it was registered, only, the insignias and runes are removed).

Only your main character can change gear, traits, and move. It’s the same way in the GW1 merc system, ie. the system “copies” your characters to become mercenaries. Lore wise, the characters could be on separate time lines, meaning their time as mercenaries could be a point in the past or future of their lifetime. When you log-in to a character, that’s their present time. It’s up to you how you will weave their/your characters’ stories.

For need, maybe new dungeons that are hard, and you need to change party setup to maximize survivability? I mean dungeons that are designed for multiple classes. These new and exciting dungeons will have mechanics designed for certain character classes, ie. routes will need one person, while the others go to other paths.

Another need is when you are in WvW. Right now, to change classes, you have to log out, then log in. If your server is full, then you have to requeue. What if you are a warrior, and your party are the only ones in the tower stalling the enemy zerg? What if you need an elementalist at that time?

Mercenary system: changing chars on the fly

What if you can change characters on the fly, where in you select a main character, then select another character (or more with further upgrades) that will become a ‘mercenary’ character? You can then switch to this other character anytime out of combat.

This is how it would work. Everything will be based on your main character, such as magic find, inventory bags, etc. If you pick up an item, it goes to your main character’s bag. If you gain experience, it goes to your main character. There could be level restrictions, ie. only level 80s can form a personal character party. You can only switch characters when your are out of combat and it has a casting time to switch to another character. Only your main character can change equipment and traits and skills, but the mercenary character can’t change equipment and skills (you have to log-in as a particular character to change stuff). Mercenaries can be disabled in certain parts of the game (such as Personal Story or some Living Story episodes). There could be a cooldown when could change characters again.

The reason for this is because sometimes people change characters in dungeons to better suit a dangerous area. Then he/she had to walk all the way to where the group stopped to wait. Another scenario is a party member loses internet connection and then reconnects back, and sometimes has to be escorted back to the group’s location. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could do it yourself, ie. temporarily become a thief stealthing and then changing back to a warrior. Also I’ve tried Final Fantasy XIV, and they have this sort of thing in their core gameplay; a character could change to any class anytime, and then change his weapons, armor and skills. Guild Wars 2 can implement a much cooler version of this, you can switch to your other characters, even the same character class if you feel like showing your other characters to other people.

There’s already a mild version of this system. People can transform using transformation potions. What I mean is maybe arenanet could reuse and recode the transformation code to fit this mercenary system.

Sorry, I forgot the bank space also counts as material storage when the system checks for mats. I think that’s where the ectomerchant skritt is getting the ectos for the exchange. Thanks for the speedy review.

The new “ectomerchant” (the skritt) won’t remove the required ectos from your bank.

EDIT: More details, I had 10 ectos in my bag, 500 in my bank (full). I bought 4 packs, which should cost 20 ectos and 1.6 gold, but when I checked my bank, it remained 500 ectos (only my 10 ectos in my bag was removed). So I got 19 ectos and 1.2 gold in return for 10 ectos and 1.6 gold. That’s 40 silver for 9 ectos, what a bargain! /sarcasm Please look into this quickly.

EDIT2: Proof that the bug exists. Fix this now please, quickly. http://imgur.com/a/RwXGt

Why wings on breast? I would have appreciated it if it were on the shoulders/pauldrons, but why the kitten on the breast? Just look at the concept art of the avatar of Dwayna. It looks like it’s coming from the breast, but it’s actually a design extension for the PAULDRON! Wow. Come on now anet.
