ArenaNet has never clarified if using the LFG tool to sell a service is against the rules.
When specifically asked on twitter, they said to report it. When asked here, they ignored the part about using the LFG tool and simply stated that selling an in-game service within the game was not against the rules.
I imagine it would be a gray area that they wouldn’t really want to enforce – GW1 had a lot of spam problems also.
I’ve noticed that lately, this breach tends to fail and people simply blame it on AoE regardless of what actually happened. Let’s clear up some misconceptions ~
AoE heals Copper
For starters, AoE is only really bad during the end of the encounter, roughly around the last 20%. The reason Copper heals is because of and only because of poison bubbles popping next to it. Although offshoots state they heal nearby allies, they only grant regeneration, which can be quickly stripped.
People telling others to not use any AoE/piercing/etc attacks is the real problem. Some people are so afraid to do anything, that they simply don’t. If you’re going to come to Copper and do no real DPS, simply don’t stay there. Tag it and leave; you will seriously be more effective by doing that due to scaling.
Poison Bubbles
When a poison bubble is popped near Copper, it will heal for roughly 2%.
Large poison bubbles will begin spawning from the corners of the room shortly into the encounter. Although they tend to float towards Copper, they may also simply move towards the center of the room and pop. Regardless of whether you attack these bubbles or not, they will automatically pop after reaching Copper. The only problem AoEing will cause is popping these bubbles a few seconds early compared to if they would have just bumped into Copper. On the plus side however, AoEing could also pop these bubbles before they reach Copper. Ideally however, you will want to slow them down, control them and keep them away from Copper for as long as possible, as they will simply respawn several seconds after popping.
Small poison bubbles will slowly float around aimlessly and begin spawning near the end of the encounter, at roughly 20%. This is where AoE is bad because you want to avoid popping these for no reason and they’re usually grouped, which could result in 10-20% healing. Since they tend to spawn near Copper, around the center of the room, this is where you may want to simply move Copper to one of the other corners to avoid the potential mess, though people will have to learn to leave the ledge.
Offshoots
On death, they will explode and damage any nearby players while granting regeneration and fury to any nearby offshoots or Copper. Since this can be easily stripped from Copper, it doesn’t actually matter if you kill the offshoots. You don’t however want to slowly kill one after another because boon strippers won’t be able to keep up. Personally, I run nullification and watch regeneration get stripped as it’s applied.
Offshoots can be very buggy with their attacks, though this could be caused due to the people on the ledge. Their melee attacks will eventually stop working, causing them to run up to someone and simply stand there. Under normal circumstances, they have a slow melee attack, so if they’re focused on you, you would simply want to move around a bit. If you’re outside of their melee range, they will throw projectiles at you, though they seem to mark specific players for death and only throw at them. These players will be immediately focused if they show their face. I’m assuming this is why they can bug out, since these players are generally hiding on the ledge or dead.
Tanking
At least 1 player must be down with Copper at all times. If not, Copper may reset and quickly begin regenerating health. The person with aggro will want to try to kite Copper away from any poison bubbles. Unfortunately, with a lot of people refusing to move from the ledge, this can be difficult without greatly affecting DPS.
At least 1 other player should be down with Copper simply to distract the offshoots. Although not necessary, it will help reduce a potential regeneration overload and allow for the bubbles to be controlled more efficiently due to AoE limits. Due to random aggro however, ideally you would want a few players down there, though the concept of randomly becoming the tank and having to kite is too hard for most people.
The Ledge
If Copper begins leaping up to where people are, I suggest you jump down if you were near the center of the target, because one of you is the new tank. This area is outside of the bounds and will cause Copper to teleport. Any poison bubbles that were moving towards Copper may also teleport directly to it and pop, creating a burst heal.
You can jump over the teragriff’s projectiles, though I’m not sure if that’s the intended mechanic. I haven’t been in a 1vs1 situation to reliably play with it and I don’t have the best ping, making it twice as hard.
I find them to be the most dangerous enemies there, especially when upscaled. A level 83 one for example can kill me in about 4 hits. I find the wolves to be second, since their leap will occasionally go through me which causes its damage to be multiplied. When they’re upscaled or a veteran+, they can easily/nearly 1 shot me that way.
That’s the flaw with their contribution system, which only requires you to participate for 1%, in this case killing 1 enemy. If they actually had a contribution system, tagging and running would be pointless. It would cause other problems however.
If it was Telia that was causing this issues, then it would not be possible to play any other game without those lags, this is not the case at all, i have no issue with any other game, or any other internet related situation and i am connected to the net pretty much always.
Different games are hosted on different networks. When joined together, these networks form the internet. If Telia has an issue in one of their joints, you will experience issues when trying to access anything that goes through that specific joint. Everything else would work fine of course. If everything was lagging however, that would mean the issue was between you and your ISP. In this case however, the issue is between your ISP and NCSoft’s EU datacenter. Considering not everyone is experience lag, that rules out a problem with the GW2 servers, or at least some of them.
Throttling is another issue that can cause lag, but at a more specific level, can be very hard to prove and is considered illegal. Throttling basically works like a virus scanner scanning your internet traffic. Once a “virus” is detected, it throttles that specific connection, causing it to become unstable. This when you must use a VPN to hide your traffic.
Another thing I noticed when performing nslookup on the gw2 servers I’m connecting to, all 3 TCP connections are shown in google search with the location of Austin, Texas. Am I really connecting to US even though I live in Northern Europe?
Real world locations are registered by the owner of the IP. They’re not actually based on where they’re really located. If you bother to trace the EU IPs, they’re located in Frankfurt, Germany.
To verify, when you initially ran Gw2Setup.exe, it would open the launcher with the login box instead of the big install button. The play button should not be visible. This occurs when Gw2Setup.exe launches incorrectly, resulting in a partial launcher UI. You can’t actually login when it’s like this.
After renaming it to Gw2.exe, it should start the actual launcher. The play button should be visible.
Now what is the problem? You are connecting through the European network, Telia specifically, which is experiencing issues. You may want to simply wait and try again later.
Open a command prompt (start menu search: cmd) and enter the command:
ipconfig /flushdns
You can also try using Google’s DNS instead:
https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using
Download Gw2Setup.exe, rename it to Gw2.exe and move it to where you would like to install the game, such as:
C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe
You can also look in your %temp% folder for Gw2.exe and move it from there.
Look for a web protection feature under BitDefender and try disabling the various options (SSL, Phishing, etc).
You can try deleting the cache, but it could just be that your card isn’t supported. The service GW2 uses has had problems in the past with certain cards. As a workaround, you can pay through PayPal or contact support to get it investigated.
To clear your cache, while the game is closed, open the %temp% folder and delete all folders that begin with gw2cache.
ArenaNet should just add the ability to write the combat log to a text file. It’s the simplest way to implement legal parsing. Although parsing it directly from memory is technically a violation, they’re not actively looking for it so it’s not like you’re going to get banned.
There’s really no reason to not allow a personal DPS meter. A public DPS meter however would lead to open world shaming during timed events, but that log isn’t even available.
I remember people complaining about the password color hash vulnerability.
Are your trying different computers on different networks or is it only affecting yours?
If it’s affecting different computers, it’s likely a bad ISP DNS, cache or censorship. Although the IP range could be banned, it would be very unlikely unless you just happened to share an IP range with a botnet. MAC addresses aren’t used over the internet.
If it’s just affecting your computer, you’ll want to look into any website filtering programs you may be running, including HTTPS scanners. BitDefender for example will reject GW2’s HTTPS connection.
Flush your DNS:
Open a command prompt (start menu search: cmd) and enter the command:
ipconfig /flushdns
If that doesn’t work, try using Google’s DNS.
Delete the folder %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/ and the file Documents/Guild Wars 2/Local.dat
The crash information is at the top of log, which you’ve cut out, fyi. That loading error is just a CoherentUI warning.
If your modem and router is separate, try directly connecting your modem to your computer. Alternatively, look through your router’s configuration and try disabling its firewall. Some firewalls have been known to cause black screens in GW2, which I assume is actually the disconnected screen that gets stuck in a reconnect loop.
Despite popular belief, not everything is zerg content. Silverwastes for example only needs 2 competent people per fort to successfully complete the entire event, though I would recommend 1 person per attackable wall and 1 person per escort.
Tequatl and the wurm are the only group events that actually requires a large amount of people. Every other group event can be completed with only a small group, generally 2-5.
Yes, the days of soloing things like the Temple of Grenth are gone, but its open world content. They can’t force who can and can’t participate in the open world as that would turn it into a dungeon. Its better to have content that can scale to any group size than content that is scaled for a minority.
Regardless of what group size the content is designed for, all new open world content is going to be zerged at first.
Changing the port to 443 may not have any effect, assuming they’re not also applying encryption to the entire game. Just changing the port is assuming that your ISP may not be throttling that specific port. Like port 80 is for HTTP, 443 is for HTTPS traffic.
Personally, when I was affected by throttling in the past, I had to forcibly obtain a new dynamic IP address to stop it. It seemed that once throttling was activated on my connection, it was permanent. I knew what triggered it, so I could basically enable/disable throttling on demand. Not all ISPs are going to use the same type of throttling however and GW2 does use various IPs, though keep this in mind when testing fixes.
Only capturing or defending a fort progresses the event. Capturing is worth a small amount, like 1%, whereas successfully defending a fort is worth a larger, variable amount. Successfully defending a fort will increase its defense level up to a maximum of 3, which determines the difficulty and duration of its defense event as well as its worth. Failing a defense event will cause the fort to reset back to level 0.
Successfully escorting caravans will add to a fort’s supply pool which increases the defense capabilities of that fort. Although it doesn’t directly help progress the event, it helps you to more easily defend a fort.
Can it get you banned? Yes. Will it? Probably not.
DPS meters work by reading the client’s memory, which is against the rules and ArenaNet can ban your account for any reason they see fit. However, in a general sense, they don’t care what you do as long as you’re not affecting the game or other players.
Delete the folder %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/ and the file Documents/Guild Wars 2/Local.dat
And it can be fixed via launcher.
ArenaNet can’t just advertise a 3rd party VPN service. It would just make a bigger problem since they would basically be telling people to pay a subscription.
There’s two reasons why a VPN could solve your lag issues. Depending on the VPN server’s location, it would be like taking a detour, allowing you to potentially bypass a bad hop. The other reason is to encrypt your traffic, which allows you to evade throttling and any other monitors. Unlike a bad hop, throttling can’t be detected by tracerts/pings.
With all the respect, any semipro IT man would resolve this problem after 2 months. But yeah, prolly priority for this fix is like on the end of the list.
ArenaNet has no control over what ISPs are doing. They cannot stop, for example, Telia from dropping packets.
Several people in this thread have pingpaths that show bad routes while some others have shown symptoms of throttling. Gaile’s recent response didn’t acknowledge this at all and instead implied that it was a problem with their servers. When people have confirmed that they could use an alternate method of accessing the internet to access the game without lag compared to their main line, it’s probably not a problem with the game and as such, they really can’t fix it.
The game downloads to the folder its currently located in. Simply run Gw2.exe from your HDD rather than using a shortcut.
You can freely move Gw2.exe (the launcher) and Gw2.dat (the game content) around. It doesn’t actually need to be installed in the traditional sense.
There are many possible reasons for that error. For starters, update your drivers (GPU) and run windows update.
Check your drives for any errors. Under Computer, right click C: drive and select properties. Under the tools tab, click check now. Select all options (auto fix, bad sectors) and begin the scan. Do this for each drive. Specifically, do this for the drive where GW2 is located, C: and the drive where your page file is located.
Run Gw2.exe with the option -repair. Open the folder where GW2 (Gw2.exe) is located and in the address bar type Gw2.exe -repair. For example, if you’re in the folder C:\GW2\, enter: C:\GW2\Gw2.exe -repair
Run memtest86 to test your memory for any problems.
Other software can also cause the problem. Temporarily disable any memory scanners (anti-virus) or anything that injects itself, such as overlays (actual overlays, not programs running on top).
Lower your graphics settings and disable anti-aliasing.
Under the Control Panel, open System. Select advanced system properties. Under the advanced tab, click (performance) settings. Under the data execution prevention tab, select the first option (only for windows) and click OK.
Ensure that you have enough free space on the selected drive, around 20 GB.
Under Computer, select the drive where GW2 is located, right click it and select properties. Under the tools tab, click check now (error checking), check all options and begin the scan.
If you have GW2 located under program files, move it to another location. You may also want to try moving it regardless to one of your personal locations, such as your desktop. Note that you do not need to install the game, simply moving Gw2.exe and Gw2.dat will do.
Generally, this error is caused by your security software blocking Gw2.exe from executing CoherentUI. Look for a feature called HIPS, sandboxing or something involving application execution and disable it or add an exception.
If you are running Gw2Setup.exe, rename it to Gw2.exe and move it to the location where you would like to install the game, such as:
C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe
Who knows more about the game? It depends on what the subject is. A dev is just like a player, but with less dedication and more insider information. It’s the dedicated players that has a better understanding within their field of play. This is why for example the top raiders or PvP teams are invited for alpha testing in some MMOs.
Look at the recent example where it was the players that caught a story inconsistency in the recent living story. The devs had all the proper information internally, but its the hardcore fans that will remember everything.
When it comes to the general player base however compared to the devs, the devs always know better. The average player simply can’t see the bigger picture, however sometimes the devs forget to look at the smaller one.

You want to get onto a different server? Simply switch maps. Various maps are on different servers and transitioning between two maps will likely put you on a different server. Use /ip to confirm.
If you want to join the same map however but a different instance, you will need to either find someone else in a different instance and join on them or guest to a server that has its own. If it’s a dead zone however, there probably isn’t another instance.
Keep in mind that if it’s a server side problem, everyone on that map would be affected, no exceptions.
while my browser and TS were fine
This only means that you do not have a connection problem between you and your ISP. Imagine driving somewhere. Not every building is on the same street is it? Now imagine construction/slow traffic/etc and how it might affect your ability to get to some places but not all.
Like this (you can copy/paste it):
copy /b "C:\Users\admin\Desktop\New folder\Gw2.js*" "D:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.dat"
When you have a path with spaces, you have to use double quotes.
What is happening has always been happening. It doesn’t matter how fun the content is, it’s about maximizing rewards with as little effort as possible. Some people are just now catching on due to the way Silverwastes is designed. Back before world events were on timers for example, this was how you could complete them back to back, running in at the last moment. If you really want to abuse the breaches, run in to every one of them and hit the boss with 1 decent hit. Proceed to the middle and simply wait for them to die one by one and use an extractor. Now you get all 4 per run.
Personally, as a soloist, the reward system in GW2 ruins my fun because putting time and effort into something greatly reduces your rewards. I’ve pushed breaches solo for example just to solo the bosses, but I get nothing special out of it in terms of rewards and it takes far longer in comparison. It’s also terrible to know that you’re being profited off of and that they’re getting the same rewards for doing nothing.
Unfortunately, a fix to server hopping is going to ruin legitimate server hopping. Imagine for example being locked to the current instance you’re in, unable to guest or join a friend. They could alternatively simply put the breaches on a timer like past events rather than relying on defenses, but then they would have to add a new purpose for defending.
utterly unrewarding due to no loot from corpses.
That’s one of the best things they did. You should not be rewarded simply for bringing more people. By tying the rewards to the event, a small group gets the same rewards as a zerg. Normally, a zerg causes champions and a lot more mobs to spawn, thus more loot, yet the difficulty is reduced due to having so many people.
which we were left about 2-3 people x keep to do the defence.
That’s really all you need, assuming they’re not mindless zerglings and can DPS efficiently. It’s actually faster to do the breaches with less people, or at least it was. For example, with only 3 people, the bosses took roughly 1-2 minutes – the teragriff would die in a single bubble. Judging by what I’ve seen since the patch however, they must have either nerfed the bosses or nerfed scaling. I’m guessing they broke scaling considering I’ve seen the health bar drop a good chunk (10-20%) in under a second as if someone dealt 1 big hit.
Use a different section of the LFG tool instead of the one people are abusing to hop instances?
The LFG tool fully updates every time someone joins/leaves a group, which is simply lazy coding. They could fix it by simply removing the animations, but it would probably be a very low priority and as such, never get fixed – see the trading post update.
Installing GW2 from the DVD is a lie. It just downloads the setup and runs that. You have to manually copy some files it if you actually want to use the content on the disc.
Download Gw2Setup.exe (under my account), rename it to Gw2.exe and move it to the location where you would like to install the game, such as:
C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe.
(alternatively, check your %temp% folder for Gw2.exe and move it)
If you would like to use the content on the disc, you will first need to copy all the Gw2.js* files into 1 location. I’m assuming it’s a single DVD however, so that’s already done. Open a command prompt (search the start menu: cmd) and enter the command:
copy /b X:\Gw2.js* Y:\Gw2.dat
Modify the above command for your actuals path. In this case, replace X with your DVD drive and Y with a drive that has enough space.
I was thinking of single Guild Wars: Prophecies just after release, which has limited skill set, no elite tomes, no consumables and henchmen were unusable.
You couldn’t freely change your build (stats) back then either. Henchmen were there, they just couldn’t be used in elite areas such as the underworld. (I played the game 100% solo)
GW2 is meant to be very casual friendly, hence the lack of punishment or coordination in open world content. Most of the open world content that says it’s meant for groups wasn’t designed to be zerged by a hundred players. You really only need a couple of people, usually less than 5, then your personal contribution can actually matter. It’s too bad that zerging is so rewarding however.
Take Silverwastes for example and how chat wants people to taxi people in. If your instance was capable of holding all 4 forts, you do not need more people. More people will only make the breaches take longer. With only 3 people for example, you can do a breach in under 2 minutes. So remember, when people ask for more people, it’s code for I’m bad or I wan’t to tag all of them.
On an individual level, GW2 is more challenging than some other MMOs. I have a friend that can barely play GW2 yet is currently facerolling through WoW.
Personally, I want a Dark Souls inspired MMO where content is designed for challenging solo play and everyone else can group for the casual version. Why play an MMO? Single player games are simply too short and not dynamic/evolving.
I played Guild Wars (1) as many ppl here.
Do you remember what mission were there like?
One person made a step too far and entire mission failed.
Do you remember the Thunderhead Keep mission?
When entire guild sent congrats after completion?
That’s what I call a challenge. And there was much much more.
Without heroes?
The only difficulty I had with missions was getting the henchmen to not do dumb things. I was the monk. Thunderhead Keep? I remember a bunch of people standing around doing nothing while I just went in with henchmen – supposedly monks were on strike or something back then. After the implementation of flags, that mission became much easier.
Personally, GW1 was a really short game for me and I quickly moved on to WoW with everyone else. I ended up playing GW1 for about a month every expansion. It wasn’t until GW2 was announced that I actually played it for more than the story, where I went from something like 500 to 2000 hours.
With heroes?
c-space /afk
If death penalty ever became a problem: clovers/I don’t remember.
And here comes the solution:
implement a passive system that keeps track of your actions.
Last dmg you’ve applied is more than 30sec ago? you failed the event personally.
You were operating (not afking) a turret at tequatl?
You get the event.
So if you carried an entire group and contributed the most overall but got killed near the end, you get nothing. In comparison, someone barely playing gets fully rewarded.
What happens when I run it at the last second?
The only thing your solution solves is tagging and running while creating other problems. For example, people wouldn’t want to waste time reviving others and those people that usually die, they would complain and/or spec full defense and hide. Due to scaling, people that are barely contributing force other people to work harder or fail. There is no solution to determine someone’s actual contribution and because of that, there will always be a way to abuse the system.
No. People do not play to grind/RNG. They play towards completing a goal/objective.
If everything was given to you in a single try, would you still be playing that content?
Everything where more than 1 is required is a subtle grind that increases your playtime. When people judge a game by it’s length, a map by its size, etc, people are actually wanting grinds that they don’t notice. The simple act of having to run an extra minute to get somewhere is a grind that makes the world feel larger.
Personally, I’m just playing the game and don’t really care. I also expect that the last piece will likely be far harder to acquire, not be given a specialized extractor and will be tied to an event that zergs will likely cause to fail.
Instead of uninstalling/reinstalling, download Gw2Setup.exe, rename it to Gw2.exe and place it where you had GW2 installed. There should be another file in the folder, Gw2.dat, which is all the game’s content.
Open Computer and select the drive where GW2 is installed. Right click the drive and select properties. Under the tools tab, click check under error checking and scan the drive for errors or bad sectors.
It sounds like either your drive is corrupt or another program is corrupting GW2, which is generally caused by an anti-virus or a virus.
Abusing the contribution system has been going on since launch. Simply hit the boss once and AFK – no point in participating since you’ll get the full rewards regardless. If they made your contribution actually matter, people not running DPS specs would complain and class balancing would become an even bigger issue. If they implemented contribution scoreboards, people would be called out after failed events.
Silverwastes is nowhere near the level of Korean RNG, which is basically precursors if they were soulbound. Silverwastes is pretty much what standard MMOs are like. The rewards aren’t meant to be effortlessly handed to you. Collecting the full set is meant to show dedication. How the rewards in Silverwastes are setup was asked for in the past.
Also, if all grind/RNG was removed, people would play it once and move on while complaining about the lack of content, replay value, etc.
Good luck trying to complete these events successfully with 10 other people when the story has moved on from Silverwastes.
I can confirm that you can push a breach solo (I had a private map on patch day), defend a level 1 defense fort solo (each successful defense increases the difficulty) and kill the thrasher, troll and the teragriffs solo (breach). The husk can probably also be done solo, but I don’t have a condition spec. It is however definitely not worth the effort and time required.
I also doubt the zone will ever die out unless something far more rewarding is added. People still farm world bosses after all.
I’m assuming you downloaded Gw2Setup.exe and when you run it, it goes directly to the login screen?
If so, rename Gw2Setup.exe to Gw2.exe and move it to the location where you would like to install the game, such as C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe.
What they’re doing was suggested a while ago. Some people wanted unique rewards for playing in a specific zone. This isn’t temporary content. You don’t have to grind it out now and it’s not like you need it either. Alternatively, hop servers to farm breaches back to back while it’s active.
You can install GW2 using the DVD, but you have to do it manually or else it simply downloads it. Gw2.dat is split into several files on the DVD that you need to join together. It would probably save you around 10 GB.
GW2 is about 20 GB. You can silently run the launcher by with the following command:
Gw2.exe -image -nopatchui
In 2 yrs wow had an expansion not some gimmick LS
What does that have to do with a subscription? The price of the expansion pays for itself. WoW gets very few updates for its monthly cost. Even Blizzard has acknowledged in the past that they’re offering less content updates when compared to free games.
How throttling works is going to vary based on the ISP. Basically, they look at your network traffic and try to match it against the type of traffic they’re wanting to throttle. They may be looking at specific ports or all of them. Much like a virus scanner, it can detect false positives due to partial matches. Once the traffic has been flagged, your connection to the server becomes unstable and begins dropping or delaying packets.
Using a VPN can solve the problem because it encrypts your traffic, though the VPN host could still be affected.
Changing the port GW2 uses to 80 could work if the ISP is ignoring that port, but the opposite could also happen if the ISP is optimizing that port for its intended use – web traffic.
Changing your IP can also work because it acts as a cleanse. The traffic must be detected again.
With action combat, full offense will always be the ultimate option because you can outplay the content. The only way berserker gear is going to be taken down is by either turning every stat combination into a modified version of celestial or by increasing the difficulty, which is just going to make it harder for everyone that is not capable of running full offense.
Personally, I think they should just nerf all stats to a point that the difference between offensive and defensive gear is marginal. Make everything like celestial and simply give the different stat types a minor bonus. At least then the content would be balanced around low DPS and defensive players wouldn’t be as much of a burden, especially when scaling is involved. As a side effect, the game would likely become unplayable for those that rely on full defensive gear.
Now if they would only allow you to log in invisibly. Maybe next time. =)
That was added in the patch a month ago.
To run notepad as an administrator, search your start menu for notepad, then right click it and select run as administrator. This only applies to Windows Vista and later.
Modifying your hosts file is a workaround. You shouldn’t leave it like that as you may experience the same problem but with that server instead.
Before using the hosts file workaround, open a command prompt (search the start menu for cmd) and enter the command:
ipconfig /flushdns
If that doesn’t help, try using:
https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using
People thinking that the EU servers are in the US is a common misconception by those simply using IP geolocation.
IP geolocations aren’t real. They’re determined by the ISP that controls the IP. GW2’s EU servers are located in Frankfurt, Germany, whereas the NA servers are in Texas. Look at the previous hop before entering NCSoft’s IP range – Frankfurt. If your connection actually went from Frankfurt to Texas in a single hop, NCSoft would have one incredibly long wire connecting the two datacenters and your ping would see a noticeable difference.
EU is apparently experiencing network issues that doesn’t agree with GW2. Some people have basically confirmed that GW2 is being throttled for example. If you’re being throttled, it is possible to only affect GW2.
When will it be fixed? If it’s an ISP issue, it’s entirely up to them. Not everyone is experiencing lag, so it’s not likely an issue with GW2’s servers.
If you want to find out what server someone is on, simply add them to your friends list then view your friends on the leaderboards.
Son of Nemesis.7810 for example is on Seafarer’s Rest (EU).
You used to be able to do this in-game by adding someone to your guild, but that apparently is no longer possible since the guild merge/megaserver change.
