You don’t lose any progress. The icon only changes to let you know that you have the option of resuming that episode. If you start a different episode, the one you previously quit will return to its completed state.
The only way to solve this type of problem is by not having it. Mechanics like this should rely on something else, for example, if you had to pick up a special item to pop the bubbles. There is always going to be that 1 person who is going to run in and simply spam auto attack as they follow everyone else. You could explain the mechanics all you want, but not everyone is going to bother to read it or even care.
Try a CPU and GPU stress test at the same time to more realistically simulate GW2. It will be a PSU test.
Here’s a few things you can try:
Update your other drivers, your motherboard specifically. Do a clean install of your graphics drivers in safe mode. Reinstall DirectX 9. Also try the beta graphics drivers if you haven’t already.
Delete the folder %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/ and the file Documents/Guild Wars 2/Local.dat. This will reset your local settings.
Run the game as an administrator and under compatibility mode. Try Win7.
Test if there is a conflict with another application. Press WindowsKey+R to bring up the run dialog. Open msconfig. Under services, check hide all from Microsoft and then click disable all. If you’re using a firewall other than Windows Firewall, you’ll need to enable its service. Under startup, click disable all. Reboot. Disable any graphics modifications or overlays you may have. Start the game and get to character select. Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to bring up the task manager. Under processes, kill CoherentUI_Host.exe (you won’t be able to access the trading post). Do this in reverse to undo it.
Underclock your GPU. The “SC” aka SuperClocked is overclocked by default. In the past, these cards have had manufacturing problems that have caused them to be unstable at the higher clock speed. My previous card for example, an EVGA 570 SC, had this problem and lasted about 2 years underclocked slightly below what a non-SC card would have been. You can use EVGA precision, MSI Afterburner or any of the other programs based on the same thing.
The blue screen identifies why your computer crashed. Look for the error codes and a file name. A BSOD is caused by an unrecoverable system error, which is generally caused by a driver or hardware problem.
You may also look at the BSOD dump file to view the message, though you’ll need to download an analyzer.
If you want to install Windows 8 graphics drivers, you will first need to uninstall your current drivers, reboot and do a clean install of the new ones.
Upgrading an OS is always messy and leaves remnants of the old one. Personally, I always reformat.
Note that you’ve disabled all non-Microsoft services and startup programs. If you undo that and encounter the problem again, you will need to redo it one by one to identify the problematic service or program.
The other command is for resetting winsock back to its default configuration. This is done to remove corrupted or problematic entries – software that has hooked into the network layer.
Keep in mind that both of these fixes are related to bad software. For safety, you will want to check your computer for malware.
Streaming would make no difference. If you look like a bot, people are going to report you regardless and 99.9% of the people will probably never see your stream or even care. Once you’ve been reported enough times, your account becomes a higher priority investigation, hence the ban.
You’re more likely to persuade people that you’re not a bot by creating a guild and having it say something as the guild’s name.
If you’re trying to prove you’re not a bot to support, recording yourself won’t matter either because it’s too easy to fake. This is why player submitted evidence is not valid and can only be used as a reference.
Bugs are prioritized by how many are affected, cost, how damaging it is to the game and if there is a viable workaround. Keep in mind that different types of bugs have to go through different teams and if the bug isn’t damaging, new content has a higher priority.

Only shortcuts have a target. Create one by right-clicking the exe and selecting create shortcut. Alternatively, Gw2Setup.exe -diag.
Like most MMOs, GW2 isn’t actually “installed” in the traditional sense. You only need to rename Gw2Setup.exe to Gw2.exe and place it where you would like to “install” it. This won’t fix your problem however. Right click Gw2.exe, select properties and unblock the file if it’s blocked (under the general tab, near the bottom). Right click it again and run it as an administrator (if Vista+), just in case it’s a software problem.
A reason? Disk failure. Having only a single file can be tricky. All it takes is a simple error in the file table and what that file contains is now unknown and potentially unrecoverable.
You can run chkdsk to check your drive for errors. Right click the drive > Properties > Tools.
You can run GW2 with the command “Gw2.exe -repair” to try and repair it.
In the future, you may want to create a backup of Gw2.dat, so if it happens again, you can simply copy it over.
You can open the launcher with the following command line option to run a diagnostics:
Gw2.exe -diag
This will allow you to view a text file to determine what IPs you’re failing to connect to. Post the results. You can attempt to ping/tracert the failed IPs to determine if it’s a software or network related issue. You can use Google’s DNS if you’re having DNS problems.
You can additionally try running the game over port 80 in an attempt to bypass port related problems:
Gw2.exe -clientport 80
To use parameters like the above, right click a shortcut to Gw2.exe, view the properties and add the parameter to the end of the target. Alternatively, open the folder where Gw2.exe is located and enter the above examples in the address bar.
Search for Gw2.dat. It should be where you had the game installed. If you find it, simply place Gw2.exe in the same folder (rename Gw2Setup.exe to Gw2.exe).
Open the folder where GW2 is located (Gw2.exe) and delete the bin folder. Generally, that error is caused by anti-virus/firewall/security software blocking Gw2.exe from executing bin/CoherentUI_Host.exe. Add an exception to/disable HIPS/sandboxing/execution prevention or automatic/game mode if you have it.
Trade scamming in GW1 was very common. It was one of the reasons why player to player trading was removed in favor of the trading post.
You can report the player for scamming, you won’t get your stuff back but they will be banned if they do it regularly.
I cant reach the GW2 folder instaled because I CANT INSTALL THE GAME.
Rename Gw2Setup.exe to Gw2.exe and place it where you want to install the game, for example: C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe.
Open the folder where you installed GW2, right click Gw2.exe and select properties. Under the general tab, if it states that the file came from another computer (at the bottom) and is blocked, click the unblock button.
Check that Gw2.exe is allowed access to the internet through your firewall. Keep in mind that simply disabling security software won’t always work compared to adding exceptions.
If you’re using COMODO, disable sandboxing, HIPS/Defense+ and the firewall. If you have other security software with similar features, disable them.
Right click Gw2.exe and run it as an administrator.
Open the folder Gw2.exe is located in and in the address bar type:
Gw2.exe -clientport 80
… and press enter. This will run the game over port 80 instead, in an attempt to bypass port blocking.
Open the folder Gw2.exe is located in and in the address bar type:
Gw2.exe -diag
… and press enter. This will run a network diagnostics. View the results to identify if it’s able to connect to the servers.
If you have a modem to router to your computer setup, try directly connecting your modem to your computer. If you are unable to, access the configuration of your router and disable its firewall if applicable and open/forward ports 80, 443, 6112 and 6600 for your computer.
“m_system != NULL” involving CoherentUI is caused by the game being blocked from initializing CoherentUI.
Check your anti-virus/firewall/security software for a feature called HIPS, sandboxing or execution prevention and add an exception there for the GW2 folder. You may also want to set your security software to manual if it’s set to automatic and disable game/silent mode, since this type of block usually comes with a popup warning/confirmation.
Check the permissions on the folder. Right click the Screens folder, select properties and click the Security tab. Look through the groups/users and ensure that “List folder contents” has a check under Allow and not Deny.
Also verify that it’s actually saving gw001.jpg. You can also try running the game as an administrator.
Tech previews are for developers and experts, not average users. You shouldn’t expect to get decent performance when it comes to games, especially when you aren’t even using graphics drivers optimized for Windows 10.
Exchanging gems for gold would be too confusing for new players so you have to level up a bit before you have that option.
It’s to prevent fraud. Stolen credit cards are used to buy accounts which are used to buy gems, bot and spam. Bought gems are converted to gold which is transferred to others which may not be easily traceable. The stolen credit card is then charged back and the account is banned, but what it did to the game is permanent.
Unfortunately, the reality behind their message was too confusing for some people.
how long before I can exchange for gold?
Somewhere between 3 and 30 days. They have variable time restrictions in place for different features in the game.
I would like to see Anet break the skills up, but unlike Guild Wars 1 we have not 2 game modes, but 3 with WvW, sPvP and PvE. I don’t know if I would lump changes to sPvP in with WvW or not.
They only wanted to split skills when absolutely necessary because it makes the game harder to get into for players already accustomed with the other mode.
SPvP is meant to be a separate mode, not affected by PvE.
WvW is meant to be casual and somewhat unfair.
This one? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006YZCAIK/
Gw2.dat is where all the game’s data is stored. It’s dynamically allocated, so everyone’s is a little different and a fresh install will be slightly smaller than an existing one.
The total size for Gw2.dat should be around 20 GB.
There’s nothing wrong with having/playing multiple accounts. It’s how you play them that matters. Sending key inputs to multiple clients at the same time for example is against the rules.
By default, you cannot open multiple clients at the same time on the same computer however.
Starting with the 2nd season of the living story, everything was made permanent. As long as you login within the 2 week period of the story’s release, you get to unlock it for free, otherwise it costs gems. It’s basically an extension to the personal story now, except repeatable. The 1st season of the living story (Scarlet) was temporary however, so if you really want to know what happened, you’d have to read about it. The wiki probably has everything.
As for gear progression, Ascended gear was added a while ago which was specifically meant for people that wanted to grind a little bonus. It’s definitely not required, but it’s there. Occasionally, they also add new runes/sigils to the game which can also act as minor gear progression, since they may be better for someone classes/specs.
You could always find a Mesmer to portal you up. Alternatively an Experimental Teleportation Gun might work or a Watchwork Portal Device.
Have you tried something like this (attempting to hit a wall):
You’re assuming it’s their servers. Unless everyone on the map has the same problem, and there’s a good sample size, chances are it’s not them.
EU? There’s been problems with the network in some parts apparently.
Personally, on NA, I haven’t experienced any issues for quite a while. I didn’t even lag during the Karka event that a lot of people complained about.
Their documents and settings folder appears to have been moved to C:\User\…, rather than it making up a path. If the path didn’t exist, that would have been the error. Also, paths aren’t hard coded like that, and instead use the system’s path variables. In this case however, it’s using the relative directory, since the bin folder is located where Gw2.exe is.
Looking more closely, considering their username is missing from the path, either they cut it out or they specifically modified their temp variable, which some people do to make it easier to clear temp files.
Also, CoherentUI.exe shouldn’t exist, though that could simply be the result of Windows generating an exe name for CoherentUI.dll. CoherentUI_Host.exe is the actual exe.

Searching uses a text based or, so when you search for box of you’re going to get anything with those two words in it, sorted by how many matched. You will want to drop common words from your searches.
If you want to search for armor boxes:
Rarity (gear icon): exotic
Category: Other > Packaged Goods
Search: ar
Testing a XP x64 SP2 virtual machine, I had no problem opening the launcher. Setup however didn’t work and simply attempted to run from %temp% instead.
I’m assuming you ran Gw2Setup.exe? Open the %temp% folder and look for Gw2.exe. Move it to a new location, wherever you would like to put the game (ie, C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe). Now try running Gw2.exe. You may also try running it in compatibility mode by right clicking the exe > Properties > Compatibility.
If you bought the game directly from ArenaNet, you can contact support and request a refund if you desire.
When I see GWAMM, I just see someone who used necro heroes to do hard mode with no effort and ground a load of money for certain other titles – it’s nice to use if you have it, but it doesn’t mean anything.
Some parts still took effort. I didn’t bother with any of the extra stuff in GW1 until GW2 announced the HoM. Originally, I basically beat the game with henchmen and quit. With heroes, most of the stuff could be done very easily, as in c-space and AFK (target closest and initiate attack), letting the heroes do all the work. There were parts however that required manual skill usage and proper positioning, both in the setup and during combat.
Personally, I played the game 100% solo, not even trading with another player – and currently stuck with the RNG gods at 49/50. I did all the dungeons however, so I can see where one might buy their way into skipping all that.
WvW was meant to be the guild wars (GvG) that wasn’t feasible during GW1. Your team is your “guild”/kingdom (as in the guild wars between Ascalon vs Kryta vs Orr) while your guild is the smaller armies that make up the whole. If you’re looking for guild vs guild combat, you only need to make a claim and fight for it. Holding a keep for example is your war with other guilds.
imo, if they implement guild halls, they should double as war fortresses and allow for guild hall vs guild hall battles, where each hall is placed on opposite sides of a map.
The bags are a step towards countering the additional rewards of upscaled events. The more people you bring to an event, the easier it gets (usually) and the more loot you are rewarded due to there being more targets and maybe even champions.
Take the Halloween doors for example. You can easily get 10x the rewards by bringing 10-20 people vs 1-5. By removing loot from mobs and placing it on the event completion, small groups will get the same rewards as zergs, though the small group has to put in more effort, especially when the content doesn’t scale very well.
Unfortunately, the abuse of tagging/contribution is still a problem, even more so under this system.
The concept of leveling is to master your art. The more you train, the better you become and the higher level challenges you can take on. That does not however mean that something below your own level should be considered so weak that you could simply brush it off.
Take real life for example. You can “level up” a fighting skill, going from nothing to a professional, to a master. Even someone that doesn’t know anything could potentially harm a master.
The original style of leveling up was simply the result of older RPGs. In action RPGs however, we don’t actually need levels at all because you learning to play your class is the actual leveling. However, people want to see progression, hence why it can’t simply be removed.
Your account was hacked/is compromised.
Search your computer for Gw2.dat (it should be where you had GW2 installed). This is the file the game uses to store all of its data. It should be around 20 GB. If you can locate that file, simply download the launcher again and put it in the same folder as Gw2.dat.
I’ve never used MSE, but if you open it, there should be a history/quarantine section that you can use to restore files that were quarantined.

They’re probably just updating the achievements, adding a collection achievement or adding it as a rare drop to the storm wizard. They’re just recolored and meant to identify where they came from, so if they were going to add them outside of their world, they would probably change their color.
If anything, this is a simple sign that they’ve been working on the SAB. They could have simply intentionally put this in the game data just so people would talk about it, since people were just complaining about the lack of it.
You have to get the end of the area to access the marker. I have a friend that wouldn’t touch Dry Top for the same reason, yet the only required jumping puzzle-like section is the entrance, unless you meant, you don’t want to jump at all or if lag was your major problem.
The entrance of Dry Top doesn’t really require much jumping, you just need to know how to use the crystals – it’s basically a tutorial. From the first waypoint, you start by taking the yellow sun crystal near the merchant and using the #2 skill to move through the falling sand, pressing #2 again to cancel the movement after you’ve passed through it. You then take the purple lightning crystal and use the #3 skill to jump to the white/blue wind crystal. Use the #3 skill again to jump to the next wind crystal. Use the wind crystal’s #1 skill to jump straight up to the ledge and again up towards where Rime is. From here there are multiple routes you could take. For simplicity, go north west towards where a wind crystal is just before the ramp and fall off. You should see Plume behind you. Follow the path north west, then north east towards a pool of water. Follow the hill up and continue north towards the first waypoint. Use the sun crystal to move across the river of quicksand to reach the first town, just north east of the waypoint.
Now you can do the first part of the living story, which I assume you’ve skipped.
The gamma slider is only available when the resolution is set to full screen (not windowed fullscreen).
If that doesn’t work, you can reset your settings by deleting the folder:
%appdata%/Guild Wars 2/
Around 20 GB.
Your CPU doesn’t meet the minimum requirements that they’ve recently set for high-res textures.

Look in your bank, at the bottom of the material storage.
Open world PvP without an individuals consent will never happen in a general PvE area. It goes against one of their core design principles of the game – a player should not, not want to see another player. Besides, that’s what WvW is for, so any open world PvP in a PvE map would essentially be a sectioned off WvW area.
You can login invisibly again, a feature that was lost since the introduction of the launcher. Your status is now remembered between session.
Should we hold off on completing the story in case there are any Anet approved exploit areas that only those who hold off can access?
… or should we rush it, to exploit any possible final rewards?
(repeatable cobs vs critter balm)
Hover over the minimap and drag it using the bar on the side.
It takes about a week to a month for a queued report to be processed. The more people that report them, the more it’ll get noticed. One person reporting multiple times however will have little impact. Also, just because a bad word was said doesn’t mean they’ll receive any punishment. What was said and its context will be judged.
Some stuff will still be available from http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sonder_the_Seller, though expect the other vendor to vanish like usual.
“Timed out while creating browser view” is generally caused by your security software blocking GW2 from executing CoherentUI. Check for any features like HIPS, sandboxing or execution prevention and add an exception for GW2. If your security software has been set to auto/game mode, set it to manual/disable it. These modes prevent you from seeing the popup confirmation warnings when something like this happens.
