And Nexon bought out NCSoft…
14.7%.
If people didn’t taxi other people into maps that were already soft capped, you would be able to get back in if you were disconnected.
I’m assuming you’re running Gw2Setup.exe and it’s showing the login box? If so, rename Gw2Setup.exe to Gw2.exe and move it to where you would like to install the game, then run it.
if so why they dont lower the price. after expansion launch??
If it is an expansion, they probably will. What if they stop selling the original game and instead bundle it with the expansion? That would mean the game would cost $59.99 for existing and new players, so a new player would basically be getting the original game for free. The sale could simply be a trap built on the hype of the announcement to get new players to pay an extra $10 now. They could of course just be trying to increase sales for this quarter if they’re down and it’s also just more marketing.
Precursor crafting will probably never happen for existing legendaries. Regardless of how it’s implemented, people are going to complain. Either it will be much cheaper since not all legendaries are equal or it will be more expansive. Legendaries are supposed to be a long term goal for dedicated players, so what if it was time gated to 6+ months.
What will probably happen is the next set of legendaries will be released and will feature the new system.
Chill, they want us to pay WTFast more than buying stuffs from their in-game shop! Its GG!Keep it coming…
You do know why using a VPN fixes the problem right? It’s not because it’s a magic service that makes your connection WTFast. What VPNs claim to do (reduce your ping) isn’t actually possible unless they own private networks. What VPNs really do is change the route you take to your destination which could improve your connection. In the case of Europe, one of the routes is being throttled during specific hours which causes packet loss and is why using a VPN to go around it will fix the problem.
By acknowledging that using a VPN will fix the problem, you’re admitting that the problem is outside of ArenaNet’s control, fyi. Also, there are free VPNs you can use, though they have limitations such as a bandwidth cap or a time limit.
Funny part is, that no matter where I connected from – multiple places in countries such as
It doesn’t matter where you connect from, it matters what route you’re actually taking. If you’re in the heart of the issue, you’re going to have the problem regardless of what you do. You will want to verify the routes using tracerts through the VPN, and you should post them in that EU thread.
Where the problem exactly is, I don’t know, but it looks like it’s somewhere in Telia’s network and before reaching the ncsoft-telia link. One person who bothered to post a lag vs no lag tracert using a VPN ruled that link out.
(edited by Healix.5819)
With the game going on sale for 75% off for the weekend of the announcement, if they are releasing an expansion, there’s no way they’re going to give it away for free. It’ll likely range from $15 to $60 (full expansion) depending on what type of an expansion it is.
Are you sure you’re typing in the character name correctly. Do you have screenshots to verify? Have you tried different names? You could update your password just in case, but that error means your character name is not correct.
You can post in this thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Tickets-for-Review-3-days-older-Part-2-merged to get your ticket looked at.
Just logging in is not always enough. You will actually want to verify that the episode has unlocked, so login and actually click the button to open the episode. You don’t need to actually play it however, you just want to verify it is playable.
I have seen some people mention this problem. I’m guessing that it’s caused by having a full queue. When your mail/trading post pickup is full, instead of the episode unlocking, it will say it costs 0 gems but cannot be purchased. When this happens, you will need to empty your queue before it will unlock.
As a simple test, verify that you can view https://tradingpost-dfw-live.ncplatform.net/humans.txt and https://services.staticwars.com/humans.txt. This will help determine if it’s a network or software problem. Verify that the security certificate on these pages do not have any problems.
If those could be accessed, open a command prompt (cmd.exe) as an administrator and enter the following commands, then reboot:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
Doing this will reset Winsock and TCP/IP back to their original states. Programs can hook into these and cause problems.
Note that simply disabling security software isn’t always enough. Some will continue to function regardless, for example, to prevent you from accessing malicious URLs, so you will actually need to add an exception for Gw2/CoherentUI or uninstall it entirely. In general though, you want to disable sandboxing, HIPS and anything involving application execution prevention.
For more advanced debugging, install and run Fiddler to monitor what exactly the trading post is requesting and receiving.
Delete local.dat file:
Adding on to this, you want to delete both %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/Local.dat and Documents/Guild Wars 2/Local.dat. The one found under the documents folder is an alternate location created after some updates and it overrides the other one.
Reset IE Settings:
For this, you will want to take note of step 5 (LAN Settings). Uncheck all options and click OK back to Internet Explorer. Open the Internet Options again back to LAN Settings and verify that everything is still unchecked. Some proxy software or viruses will force these settings.
which is why I can’t log into GW1 using my GW2 info.
Why would you be trying to login to GW1 with your GW2 account? It’s the other way around (for unlinked accounts). If you want to update your GW1 email/password, you login to GW2’s account management website using your GW1 username/password.
Your GW1 account username should either be your email or in the format username@ncsoft or username@plaync. If you have one of the @ncsoft or @plaync accounts, you should login to GW2’s account management with your GW1 account to update it to a proper email address.
Under the original system, GW1 accounts were handled under NCSoft’s master account. Were you referring to this when you said your NCSoft account didn’t work? NCSoft’s master account was never actually used to login to GW1, it just kept track of your accounts.
What exactly is the problem? Do you not know your GW1 login information?
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/103173466-Guild-Wars-Account-Management-Changes
You now manage your GW1 account using GW2’s interface. Support is also handled through GW2. If you’re trying to add a key to a GW1 account, you do it through the game itself. The option can be found on the login screen.
$9.99 for infinite trading post storage, 4 guild banks, the ability to mail yourself, login rewards, more once per day/limited rewards and of course, abusing the personal loot/contribution system.
It’s too bad that ArenaNet doesn’t support multiple accounts under a single primary account.
(edited by Healix.5819)
But suggestions now to implement race X, Y or Z for when HoT comes out?
Everything being suggested has been suggested for over 2 years now.
With ArenaNet hesitant to develop full armor sets and giving the reason that it takes much more time to develop, I don’t see why ArenaNet would even want to add a new race unless it used one of the existing playable models.
I’ve never died while jumping in the center of the breach and I’ve done it around 500 times. However, I was snared once and didn’t make the jump, landing just on the edge before the center, resulting in death. If you have a high latency though, I can see where you might lag through it regardless of what you do and die because of it.
I doubt they consider it a bug and it’ll likely never be changed. Considering where you’re jumping, it’s probably seen as a feature although they probably didn’t intend for it to happen. You’re simply getting shredded on the way down when you touch the sides. If ArenaNet wanted to actually change it, they would simply make the entire thing a portal rather than just the center or make it something you interact with instead of jump in.
A new book would be plausible, but I doubt they would have advertised it in-game if that’s all it was. I also doubt it’ll be a traditional boxed expansion that people expect. ArenaNet was all about trying new things, so falling back to the old model that everyone else uses just doesn’t seem right. Taking note of their PAX description, I simply doubt they would reveal what everyone else does. If it’s an expansion, I wouldn’t expect it to be in the form that people are accustomed to, but that’s what the living world concept was supposed to be.
Since they bothered to register the name/logo, which is something they haven’t done for the other names they’ve used, they’re likely planning on marketing it, as in selling something. Maybe it’s as simple as season 2 packaged together and sold as a box or as a combo with the game, though they wouldn’t have advertised that in-game.
If something big isn’t announced however, ArenaNet has basically set themselves up for failure. It doesn’t really matter what they do however, people will be disappointed when it’s not exactly what they want. A countdown clock, in-game advertisement, PAX ticket giveaway – it’s like what they used to do before launch.
Because everyone else seems to be doing it, I wouldn’t be surprised if ArenaNet revealed a GW2 related MOBA or card game.
When they said music macros were okay?
Because they do not give a player a gameplay advantage, Customer Support does not intend to take action on people who play instruments using macros.
I doubt they would have used the word “bot” and said it was okay since that usually refers to bot farmers. They did say automation however, which is just another way of saying it.
What happens if I buy it again?
You complain, then wait for support to process your refund request. Since you already have it, nothing happens.
When I tried downloading it on my flatmate’s laptop, it worked fine however, so the problem is most likely with my own.
I’m assuming the laptop was connected to the same network/ISP as your computer?
Ensure that your c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file does not contain any added entries.
Try resetting your network adapter. Under the control panel, search for adapter and open network connections/adapters. Locate the one being used as your primary connection to the internet, right click it and select diagnose/repair. Run through the process.
Open the start menu and search for cmd.exe. Right click it and run as administrator. In the command prompt, enter the following commands and reboot afterwards:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
You may also want to look into updating your network adapter’s drivers.
Open your %temp% folder and locate Gw2.exe. Move it to where you would like to install the game and run it to begin downloading the game. Alternatively, download Gw2Setup.exe and rename it to Gw2.exe.
What you’re seeing is not the launcher, it’s the setup not displaying correctly. That login shouldn’t be visible, hence why it doesn’t actually work.
Since it sounds like you have the original installation discs, note that they aren’t actually used when installing the game. If you would like to save yourself ~10 GB, you can use the data on the discs by doing the following:
Make a folder on your desktop and name it gw2dat. Copy all the files that are named Gw2.js from the discs to that folder.
Open the command prompt (press WindowsKey+R and open: cmd.exe) and enter the following command:
copy /b "C:\Users\%username%\Desktop\gw2dat\Gw2.js*" "C:\Users\%username%\Desktop\gw2dat\Gw2.dat"
This will merge the split files. Once it’s done, move Gw2.dat to where you put Gw2.exe. You can delete the gw2dat folder.
This would reduce the time it takes to level
No it wouldn’t because everything involving experience would simply be divided by 4. GW2 went with many quick levels instead of long levels. Would you rather have it be level 20 @ 4 hours per level, or level 80 @ 1 hour per level? In the end, it’s only cosmetic. If they were to simply cut the cap to level 20 without any other changes, it would only take 2-3 hours to reach due to the NPE, people would complain about the lack of content and quit, even though they only played through Queensdale.
Why was it made to be so hard as a solo instance?
ArenaNet simply has higher standards compared to other MMOs that generally assume solo players are terrible players. Back in beta, the game was nerfed to compensate for the average player as many enemies had special dodge or die attacks and simply did more damage overall. With every release, they’ve been slowly increasing the difficulty and trying different mechanics.
In short, it’s not hard, you’ve just equated solo to meaning trivial. Judging from what I’ve seen in that other thread about the end boss, many people also don’t bother to learn the mechanics, making it seem impossible when it’s just a simple pattern.
For those that can’t manage it, ArenaNet has left in the option to do it as a group, which allows you to trivialize it as well as most achievements. Personally, this is how I’d rather have it, which is backwards compared to other MMOs – challenging content designed to be solo’d, with the casual option available for groups – which is also how Dark Souls does it.
If you see this error when posting, clear your cookies for this site.
If Gw2Setup.exe goes directly to the login screen without showing the install button, rename Gw2Setup.exe to Gw2.exe and move it to where you would like to install the game and then run it.
Module: plsapp.dll
Your computer appears to be infected by adware. You can follow this guide to remove it.
Everything that program does can be done without using it. Simply tape down right click and draw a dot on your screen. Mouse click/wheel functionality can be modified through its own configuration by remapping them. Everything else is built in to the game. All that program basically does is provide a fast way to swap between keybind presets in the same way that some keyboards/mice have profiles that you can switch between with a press of a button.
I doubt ArenaNet could even detect it without specifically targeting it otherwise anyone with customizable keys would also be banned.
Buying a new account on sale for $20 sounds better. 5 character slots, 4 guild banks, more login rewards, the ability to mail yourself and infinite trading post storage space for when you feel like investing.
I’m assuming by “call to support” you meant he opened a ticket with support, as in https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new
GW1 was basically merged with GW2, so all support and account management is done through GW2’s interface now.
If the GW1 account is linked with GW2, the login is the same as the GW2 account. If the account is not linked and the email is no longer accessible, he will need to contact support and provide proof of ownership to change the email.
If he has already contacted support and has simply not received a reply, keep in mind that updating the ticket will reset his position in the queue. After 3 days, I guess you could post on his behalf in this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Tickets-for-Review-3-days-older-Part-2-merged/
Another thing why am I the squishiest member of the team?
You could always try playing a full defensive warrior.
Are you tired of getting downed? Mad about it? Then try a full set of Nomad’s. By optimizing for defense, you will be able to easily outplay any encounter without having to worry about troublesome AoEs or other gimmicks.
till it have better patcher that can save download progress or just spilt very large file to smaller file
The progress shows the number of files you have remaining rather than the total amount of files, which is around 300k. This causes your progress to appear to reset every time you close and open the launcher, but it doesn’t actually reset.
If the above “-assetsrv” IPs do not work for you, try using a VPN. Others have recommended CyberGhost VPN or HotSpot shield, which are free, or you can try a free trial of WTFast.
If you don’t want to pay for it, simply find a friend that has access to it and join their instance. You won’t get any rewards out of it, but you can see the story.
The game is only $20 when it goes on sale, which if you add the cost of season 2, it’s regular price. They probably will reduce its price, but not for another 6-12 months. If they are releasing an expansion, they could even bundle it with the deluxe edition, but veteran players would complain since they would be paying for something they already have, regardless of if it was a free bonus.
Modifying the hosts file or using -assetsrv changes which CDN server you use. Using a VPN can do the same thing, however it also encrypts your connection. By using encryption, you prevent your ISP from modifying or returning a cached response. That is your problem.
If you would like to further test this, use -assetsrv through the VPN using the original IP.
lol yea, the most of us only gets the lag problems at prime time, you can all phone Telia in your specific country, and ask them about it, and you will get some interesting answers, if you press them hard enough…
Last I heard, Telia’s network couldn’t handle the demand, so they were throttling their network at a certain point during certain hours, which of course causes an unstable connection. What’d you hear?
It’s Telia’s fault in the fact that their network is failing. It’s ArenaNet’s fault in the fact that they haven’t severed their connection with Telia, though that could potentially make it even worse.
They had plans on creating a new set of legendaries a while ago. I’m assuming when they come out, they’ll also be obtained much differently and implement the scavenger hunt/questing/crafting system they’ve mentioned. Hints of the scavenger hunt/quest was actually added to the game quite a while ago.
With hints of an expansion coming, it makes sense why certain things they’ve been mentioning all along have never appeared. If anything close to an expansion is revealed next week, new legendaries are likely to come. Don’t expect it to be released for another 6 months however, 2 minimum.
Try running GW2 under Windows 8 or 7 compatibility mode.
You could try using a VPN (people have recommended HotSpot Shield or CyberGhost VPN as free ones). Someone once found that the problem was caused by their ISP caching the data. You have to modify the request to get around that, which changing the language probably does, or you can simply wait for it to expire.
Living story season 2 probably will eventually be sold as a package deal (as in a season 2 “box set”) for marketing purposes. As for including it with the game, the game is already discounted. If they were to include it, they would return the game to its original price ($59.99) which is the equivalent of its current price plus buying season 2 ($39.99 + $20).
When they originally talked about the gem store, they talked about only having to pay for the content that you wanted to play. Everything released was cosmetic however, until the living story. The problem with this payment model however is that it makes the game feel like everything is locked behind a series of pay walls. For example, would you rather spend $50 for an expansion, or have to pay $x to gain access to a single new zone.
Considering their PAX descriptions says “be among the first to hear how we’re setting up a new framework for how an MMO can grow its universe.” I really wouldn’t expect them to go out there and show off something old. That would be like admitting that their new methods failed, so they’re falling back to the standard formula. I expect them to announce something different or at least something that isn’t common. Regardless, I doubt it would be free.
And even if they did they already broke most of their promises. Remember the ‘no grind’ one?
They never said that there would be no grinding at all. After their manifesto, they even clarified that there would be grinding after people misinterpreted what they said. They pointed out legendaries for example as being long term goals for dedicated players. Unlike the majority of other MMOs, there is no forced grinding in GW2. It’s all cosmetics and even ascended is for the most part useless.
This achievement was easily soloable as an elementalist. This thread had me worried so I went and rushed it. No food, unoptimized gear (old pirate MF runes, nullification sigil) and mostly berserker with some celestial accessories and a healing staff. Simply put, I’m not optimized. My build isn’t either, which I’m running the standard fire staff build, expect I run with cleansing waters instead of going 100% offense.
The first trial was simple from the start. I immediately had the point under control with all enemies out of the ring. I didn’t even bother attacking the other guy. Another wave spawned maybe 30s in, which I killed most of them and left some melee ones alive as I simply ran around the room. It took around 2 minutes total, with the ring being red for maybe a total of 10s.
The second trial I simply AoE’d everything to the back of the room.
For the third trial, I debated on swapping to invulnerabilities to grab and run, but didn’t bother. I simply killed everything and took the crystal. On the last crystal, I had ~1 minute left and thought I was running out of time, so I swapped to dagger/focus for the invulnerability, but it turns it was ~1s to short, so I simply killed everything again.
I used the birthday blaster to keep track of the time, so technically, I was using food.
They could add factions to the game, at least temporarily. For example, for a month, all Sylvari are enemies if they try to enter other racial cities. Not enemies to other players of course, they’ll just aggro certain NPCs.
What will probably happen though is… nothing. It’ll all be contained in a cinematic.
Projectiles can hit anything in their path. If you see a red circle that does nothing, the projectile likely hit a wall. Likewise, if you stand in a projectile’s path, you will get hit.
Judging from comments outside of the game, if it’s free, people will treat it as if it doesn’t exist, just like everything added through the living story.
I’m kinda hoping it will be like the campaigns of GW1, but being that Heart of Thorns is the title it sounds more like an actual expansion to the current.
Back in the day prior to launch, when they talked about the possibilities of an expansion, they said they wouldn’t be doing standalone expansions like GW1 anymore. They found it to be a waste of resources having to recreate the basics of the game every time. Moving forward, any expansion will be more like a traditional expansion, even going as far as increasing the level cap, which they are open to.
This isn’t the first time they’ve made a new logo or even attached a title, however this seems to be the first case of them actually registering it. It could be a new expansion though it could also simply be the result of people complaining about free content and their response – marketing. For example, it could simply be a “box set” of season 2.
An expansion is plausible however and the current story is obviously building up to an introduction with Mordremoth. Although the title makes it sound small, anything is possible. Sure, why not, let’s get support from Cantha for example.
I suggest waiting a week for PAX before jumping on the hype train.
ArenaNet’s reply will likely be at the end of the month at PAX. If they don’t talk about expansions, they’re never doing one. Considering ArenaNet wants to be different, I doubt they will fall back to the traditional model.
As for an expansion, what’s the point? It’d be just like the living story except ~4 seasons at once and after you beat it within a week, what then? Personally, if ArenaNet dropped the living story and went with expansions, I would play the game like I did GW1, ~1 month per expansion, which would be great as soon as <insert new MMO> releases.
There are NO Guild wars
WvW is actually the real guild wars, but I’m guessing you meant guild dueling as in GW1’s GvG.
The PvP tournament is simply a different form of advertising.
Aren’t A-Net in Austin now?
The servers are hosted in Austin, Texas. ArenaNet is in Bellevue, Washington.
“Most of us don’t care about PVP”
Source? Statistics? Numbers?
Isn’t that common knowledge in MMOs? If the majority wanted PvP, development would be focused on PvP.
So basically, it’s:
Anyone can deal with the offshoots. They tend to bug out due to people hiding on the ledge, causing them to stop doing their only melee attack, allowing the person tanking them to simply stand there without any risk. As soon as the person on the ledge pops out though, the offshoots will shoot them. The first person to jump down should be tanky/anti-projectile however, as they’re usually shot at first.
As for killing the bubbles, it’s better to control them instead as they will respawn shortly after. Ideally, you want to kite the husk around the room as the bubbles follow. Below 20%, when the smaller bubbles begin spawning, push them all away and take the husk to one of the corners. The offshoots can also be left on top of the husk in an attempt for them to soak up any AoE.
Not my connection, work for an ISP and has been looked thoroughly.
It’s not your connection, as in your connection to your ISP. It is however your route. Look at hop 6. Notice the 20% loss between it and hop 7?
On the device running the authenticator, ensure that the date, time and time zone is correctly set. If you manually setup the authenticator, ensure you entered the key properly.
