Any program that has popups or is scheduled to start at a certain time can cause applications to lose focus. For example, your anti-virus saying it’s up to date might cause it.

If you can’t figure it out, look into finding a program that logs which window has focus.

Blue Screen Of Death crash

Read the blue screen for an error code and/or file name. GPU related errors for example are easy to spot by the name of the dll.

If you’ve overclocked, run a stress test for 8+ hours. It’s even possible to run it for days without error only to have it crash on a simple task. GW2 is fairly CPU intensive compared to other games. If you haven’t, you may also want to run a test that is capable of stressing both your CPU and GPU at the same time to ensure your PSU is stable.

You can try running the game on port 80 or 443, but other than that, you’d likely need to use a VPN.

To use port 80 or 443, edit a GW2 shortcut so that the target is like this:

If you’re using the -assetsrv option or modified your hosts file, you’ll need to remove those changes. These servers can change, so if you were using a specific one, it may no longer be available.

That said, if you’re having trouble connecting to your default asset server, try a different one. Right click a GW2 shortcut and select properties. Modify the shortcut’s target like this:

Target: “C:\Example\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 62.154.232.187

Here are some alternate servers you can try:

174.35.52.174
62.154.232.187
151.249.90.138
194.25.94.170
174.35.71.9
151.249.90.199
93.188.135.37
62.154.232.194

Also ensure that your firewall isn’t blocking Gw2.exe.

This is part is for a specific issue which shouldn’t apply for most people. Search your start menu for cmd, right click cmd.exe and run it as an administrator. Enter the following command, press enter and reboot: netsh winsock reset

The first time, I had to reinstall the entire game and then it worked.

There is really no point in reinstalling the entire game, unless your dat file is heavily corrupted. The only thing that really accomplishes is getting your security software to redetect it.

If you want to start fresh:

Delete the folder %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/
Delete the file Documents/Guild Wars 2/Local.dat
Delete everything in the folder where Gw2.exe is located, except Gw2.exe and Gw2.dat
Delete all folders named gw2cache in the %temp% folder
Check your security software for any rules against Gw2.exe, or simply move both Gw2.exe and Gw2.dat to a new location.

It gives me a crash error saying that “Timed out creating browser content” and the launcher will just close on its own.

That is generally caused by your security software preventing Gw2.exe from starting CoherentUI, which is used to display web pages and the launcher’s interface. Delete the bin folder located in the same folder as Gw2.exe and add Gw2.exe to your security software’s exceptions. Specifically, look for a feature called HIPS or something involving execution prevention. If there’s a sandboxing feature, disable it. If your security software has an automatic/game/silent mode, disable it so you’ll actually see it block something.

Did you buy it from the official page?

If you purchased it legitimately however, the payment likely failed, thus automatically banning the account.

For cosmetic inspections…

Creating unique styles is a part of the endgame and the specifics should be left up to the individual. If you want to know something, either ask or try to figure out. I’m also guessing that ArenaNet would rather have you look through the available skins than to quietly inspect someone.

For stat inspections…

GW2 is meant to be casual friendly and adding an inspection feature would be rather unlikely. If you’re a veteran player however, you should easily be able to tell if your group isn’t performing to your standards. Furthermore, with GW2 seemingly moving away from dungeon content and heading towards guild content, there’s simply no need for it – if you can’t trust your guild members, you have bigger problems.

For comparison, SPvP is meant to be competitive and features inspection.

You’ve defeated the Vinewrath with only six people per lane? I’m massively impressed. I’ve had boss attempts wipe with even four times that many.

The lowest amount of people I’ve ever successfully done a lane with was 4 people. I was managing both mortars at the same time while also attacking in between.

At first, I didn’t think the Vinewrath actually scaled for small groups because every time I did it, regardless of how many people were in the lane, the enemies were always level 82-83. The problem was, all lanes are a single event, so they all scale the same, which is based on all players within the event’s area. When people stack in one lane, they’re really hurting everyone else.

Playing late nights, I have occasionally encounter smaller groups, as in ~5 per lane. All the enemies are only level 80 and they’re much faster kill. The 2nd boss is really the only difficult part due to the low amount of people. Personally, I find it a lot more fun with less people.

Lastly, more isn’t always better. If you bring 5 zerkers that know how to play, the results are going to be ridiculous, as in the bosses melt. If you throw in 20 players that can barely DPS however, you’re going to cause them to fail. That’s the problem with scaling.

Items shouldn’t disappear regardless of how old they are. That would mean there’s a bug somewhere with how items are handled which could lead to random items disappearing.

Did you press the compact button or move your bags (the inventory bags) around (I see an empty slot)? Compacting when you have multiple stacks can cause the various stacks to shuffle.

Are you sure you didn’t just sell them on the trading post?

Maybe you simply dragged the bags around in your inventory, causing them to swap places.

The living story is like watching a TV show. The personal story was like watching a season on DVD. The living story however is the current season, so when you went to watch it on TV, you’re watching the latest episode. If you want to see past episode, you must purchase them. Eventually, I suspect that they’ll sell season 2 as a complete package and maybe even give it away for free in the same way TV does reruns years later.

That being said, is there a way for those of us who went from Personal Story, straight into Point of No Return, to access and play the preceding Season 2 Chapters?

Open the Hero panel (H) and select the story journal. You should see a living world season 2 section. You should be able to cancel your current episode and then start the first one, assuming it’s unlocked. If it’s not unlocked, you have to purchase it. If you don’t want to purchase it but want to see the story, you can however join someone else’s instance.

Look at it this way — I bought the game at full price, just before the big sale. I don’t get a refund of the money I paid.

Depending on how long “just before” was, you probably could have gotten a refund, though you would have needed to start a new account. I’ve heard of them even refunding gem store purchases that have gone on sale the next day.

Obviously purchased traits however will not be refunded. They’ll also likely give a fair warning in the same way they did when they initially changed them. I doubt they’ll majorly change the system however and instead simply make them easier to acquire, like skill challenges.

If you used msconfig, you can repeat the steps to see what programs couldn’t be disabled. Look at these programs to see if they’re the cause. If there’s nothing there that might be the cause however, I would guess it’s a virus.

Under the boot tab of msconfig, check safe boot, then click OK and reboot. You’ll start in safe mode. Open the Internet Options/LAN settings and uncheck all the options. It should stick while under safe mode, however it might change on your next boot. Open msconfig and uncheck safe boot to return to normal.

Lastly, you can try this, which might let you see which program exactly is changing your settings: http://www.grishbi.com/2015/02/ie-proxy-setting-keeps-changing/

The reason it’s automatically checked is because you have software running that is automatically setting up a proxy. It could be an actual proxy, security software or a virus. Do you know if you actually need a proxy?

If you know what program might be doing it, disable it. If you don’t, start by checking your anti-virus/security software for a proxy or web monitoring feature. Under Internet Options/LAN settings, click the advanced button to see the address used for the proxy. Try Googling it to see if it can be linked to a specific program. If it’s 127.0.0.1 however, that simply means that it’s software on your computer that is intercepting your connection before sending it out.

You can also press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to bring up the Task Manager and under the Performance tab, open the Resource Monitor. Under the Network tab, you can see processes that are accessing the network. You may be able to find the proxy here as you browse web pages (use Internet Explorer), however, if the game failed to connect using the proxy, I would guess that it’s not actually working.

You may also want to simply start my disabling all non-essential programs. Press WindowsKey+R and open msconfig to open the System Configuration. Under the Services tab, check hide all Micrsoft services and then click disable all. Under the Startup tab, click disable all. Click OK and reboot. Keep in mind that some services cannot be disabled, such as some security software.

I don’t care about the net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

The trading post is a website. That error means you’re failing to establish a secure connection with the site.

As for the other error, post a screenshot of it so I can identify what type of error it is. I’m assuming it’s on the page itself, like when you sell items too quickly, in which case it might be an account problem or something is modifying what you’re sending.

With the SSL error, does the gem store work? What about browsing the trading post?

First, as a note, some of these are for the SSL error specifically, however they can help in both cases.

If you ignored what I said before, do it now. Additionally, in the Internet Options, under the Advanced tab, click the restore advanced settings button (you may also want to try the “Reset…” button after this, but not right now since it’ll reset everything). In the box above, scroll down to the bottom and ensure that all SSL and TLS options are checked. Under the Connections tab, click the LAN settings button and uncheck all options, then click OK and again out of the Internet Options. Reopen the Internet Options and go back to the LAN settings. Confirm that everything is still unchecked. Proxy software might forcibly modify your settings.

Setup Google’s DNS: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using. After doing that, open the command prompt and enter the command: ipconfig /flushdns

Check your security software for a web/protocol monitoring feature or something involving SSL and disable it. BitDefender for example has caused problems in the past. Also note that simply disabling your anti-virus as a whole may not be enough. Some will continue to function regardless.

Search your start menu for cmd, right click cmd.exe and run it as an administrator. Enter the following command, then reboot: netsh winsock reset

Run Windows update and ensure that the latest service packs are installed for your OS. If there were updates to install, check again after installing them and rebooting.

Turn off your router/modem for around 30 seconds. If you can, try directly connecting to the modem just to ensure that the router isn’t causing any problems.

If you want, you could install Fiddler which is a web debugging tool that acts as a local proxy. It’ll allow you to see the requests being made as well as the responses. If you’re encountering any certificate errors, it will allow you to ignore them. You might be able to see a more specific error by looking at the response when selling an item.

Setup a VPN (use a free trial of WTFast or something) and run the game through it. This will determine if your ISP is causing the problem.

As a last resort and assuming a software related problem, reinstall Windows. Alternatively, try a different computer or temporarily install Windows on a removable storage device. Before doing this however, you may want to first try disabling as much software as you can. Press WindowsKey+R and open msconfig. Under the Services tab, check hide all Microsoft services and then click disable all. Under the Startup tab, click disable all, then OK and reboot.

Those maps are fun IF and ONLY IF the rest of the map is coordinated towards doing the activities you want to be doing, otherwise they are massively frustrating

Assuming a full map is ~100 players, only 20% of the map needs to participate to successfully complete the Breach and Vinewrath. For comparison, Tequatl was designed for 80% of the map.

The catch is, the less people you have, the more each individual matters. If events actually scaled 1:1 however, zerging events would probably be devastating.

Personally, I’d rather do a group event with 2 others than with 10 others simply because it’s much easier for me to carry them.

but it’s true. Would you go into a multiplayer match if you didn’t want to play multiplayer? There was a time when you couldn’t even level up alone and yet MMO market wasn’t any worse off.

An MMORPG is simply a virtual world. Why play a single player RPG when you could play an evolving and more dynamic single player RPG?

A multiplayer match, or in this case dungeons, is not even what an MMO truly is. Being limited to a group is co-op. The open world however, where everyone can join, is an MMO. The ultimate form of an MMO is a virtual simulation of life.

Creating a high quality MMO costs a lot of money. Creating something like EQ1 wouldn’t be possible now. Take WildStar for example. It was advertised as a hardcore, old school raid MMO. Not only did 40 man raids lack players and was cut, the devs found that 60% of the player base played solo and the endgame offered nothing for them.

Instead of waypointing around, learn the map. Pick an area where events commonly spawn or pick an event chain. Most events can easily be completed in just a few minutes. If someone calls out an event that doesn’t involve a timer in some way, chances are you’re not going to make it, especially in the lower level zones.

the part where its being routed through Sweden is the telia.net part in hops 8-11 and I don’t know about you but I see Ncsoft attached to telia.net in hop #11.

Hop 8 isn’t in Sweden, it’s in Ashburn, Virginia. I’m unable to trace any further, going in to New York, so I’m guessing that specific network is currently down.

Hop 11 (ncsoft-ic-307708-dls-b21.c.telia.net) is the link between Telia and NCSoft’s network in Texas.

The storm on the east coast is likely the problem. It’ll probably take about a week to resume normal operations. There’s nothing ArenaNet can do about that. All you can really do is wait it out or attempt to use a VPN to reroute your connection around the problem, if a stable route exists somewhere.

IP locations are not accurate. They’re registered by their owner. All NCSoft’s IPs are registered as Austin, Texas, which is their NA datacenter.

It’s nearly impossible to determine where an IP truly is. To get a more accurate location, tracert the IP and look at the hops it goes through. Use the response time between each hop to roughly estimate the distance. Going overseas for example is going to cost ~100ms.

For example, if I tracert 206.127.159.163, the hop prior to NCSoft’s network is a link to Telia (62.115.43.74). If you lookup that IP, it’s registered to Frankfurt, Germany. Since the change in response time was ~2ms, that would be impossible to go from Germany to Texas. One of them has to be wrong. Go through each hop to get a more accurate picture.

How would turning off spell effects stop someone from spamming a greatsword attack in your face? As long as you’re in the open world, there’ll always be a way to annoy you. Cake gun spam?

If they were going to give the option to turn off spell effects, they would have done it years ago when people were complaining about not being able to see anything. Instead, they simply toned them down.

Since spamming skills likely leaves no evidence, all you can really do is leave. Simply choose a new random location, or if multiple instances exist, guest to a different server. If someone is able to find you, they’re either putting it a lot of effort to do so or someone with you is letting them find you. If you can get them to leave evidence in chat however, you can simply report them.

ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR means you’re failing to setup a secure connection with the server. If it works on one connection, but not the other, I would think that one of your connections is running through a proxy and modifying what you send/receive.

Here’s a simple test you can do. Try to visit the page:
https://tradingpost-dfw-live.ncplatform.net/humans.txt
… check for any certificate errors (the lock icon).

Ensure that your date and time is correctly set. Open Date and Time found under the Control Panel or by clicking the clock. Like most MMOs, GW2 doesn’t need to be installed in the traditional sense. You can simply move it to the location of your choosing. Also, there’s really no point in “reinstalling” the game since it won’t change anything, unless it’s severely corrupted.

Gw2.exe and Gw2.dat are the only files required. Gw2.exe is the launcher while Gw2.dat is all the data, which should be around 20 GB.

GW2 will store some stuff under your user directory, which is generally located under C:\. The folders it creates are %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/, Documents/Guild Wars 2/ and

AFK'ers in the Silverwastes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

If they want to fix AFKing, they need to fix the rewards. Why should someone who did nothing get rewarded the same as someone who carried the event? If you want to stop AFKing, kicking them isn’t the answer because that’s easy to get around for actual abusers and only ends up punishing legitimate AFKers. Encourage participation instead.

Take the magic find buff for example. Make it stack up to 10x and make it last only ~10 minutes. At the start of the breach, give players with a full stack a new buff that makes them eligible for the rewards. This isn’t a perfect solution however since getting 10 stacks might be difficult for a regular player that only defends a fort, yet trivial for an abuser. People would likely AFK at a fort with a pet to tag the event however, though doing that is bannable.

The entire Silverwastes event can be successfully done, including the Vinewrath and without losing the forts, with only 15-20 decent players. You don’t really need coordination, people just need to realize that events scale. 5 per fort is enough to hold it, with 1 person breaking away to transport the dolyak. Besides, if you bring more people, it starts to scale. Every successful fort defense increases its difficulty, up to level 3. A level 1 fort only needs 1 person – the fort itself is almost capable of defending itself for the short duration.

Scaling Mechanics

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

As long as they are in combat, they will scale up the event.

That’s how it was originally, but then the problem with zergs ganking bosses started happening. Now everyone is counted. After a time, maybe people not in combat are no longer counted, but that could be exploited. I would hope that dead players are not counted, but how long does it actually take to scale back down?

If someone wanted to test it, simply find an event that spawns enemies/waves and bring 10+ people. Regular enemies don’t scale once spawned. Alternatively, calculate the change in health of a boss that scales while you deal stable DPS and everyone else leaves/dies.

Copper is actually faster with a SMALL group of people

They’re all faster with a small group, unless a miracle happens and the entire zerg consists of min/maxed DPS focused pro players. But since Copper relies on conditions, it will always be best done with a small group that can max out the stacks. Scaling isn’t 1:1, so as long as everyone is carrying their own weight, more is always better. If not however, it’s far easier to carry only a few people, before the event starts to scale.

If you only bring 3-5 DPS geared players for example, you can easily kill any of the breach bosses in under 2 minutes. For example, I’ve seen one of the teragriffs die within a single bubble, with only 3 people.

Do not waste time on the mortars using the regular shot. Swap to Incendiary rounds and leave a trail of fire for the Mordrem to wade through.

Keep the AoE up at the point where the waves spawn from. You’ll get a few ticks in before they spawn, plus they just sit there for a few seconds.

  • For the ultimate experience, jump in as soon as the breach starts and pop the bubble on the left. When it’s stunned, prepare to pop the bubble on the right, but only when the second teragriff stops next to the bubble and just before it starts to charge. This will create a perfect timing where both teragriffs will hit this bubble and can be bounced between only 3 bubbles without ever hitting each other. Unfortunately, someone usually screws it up.
  • Don’t pop the bubbles early regardless of if you know what you’re doing. The charge can occasionally bug causing them to do a short charge or stand in place.

  • The poison projectiles it shoots will bounce to a nearby target after hitting a target. If it hits a pustule, it will pop it.

Platinum

  • Popping bubbles near it will give it Poison Buildup. At 5 PB it’ll do a devastating AoE, however those ranging it from the very edge will not get hit.

It gains a stack of Poison Buildup every second that it sits in one of the poison AoEs created by the poison vents when you fail to kill them in time. The poison vents are created in the area next to it just prior to its teleport and only when below 80%.

Silver and Gold

  • The trails they leave do damage, don’t chase them.

Depending on what direction they’re going, you can hug the inner or outer wall to avoid the trail and even let them pass by you.

Have to do event to be able to access LS?

Learning how to access the tunnels – doing the event – was a part of that episode of the living story. It doesn’t take long to do and you don’t need a group.

If you don’t want to bother, simply hop servers until you find one that’s open.

Where can I find help if im not able to solve this issue on my own?

Going with the assumption that certain networks are overloaded and are countering the load by using throttling, there’s really nothing you, your ISP or ArenaNet could do. Fixing the problem is entirely up to that network. If they actually need to roll out new lines, it could take years.

The idea behind using a VPN is to change the route you take to the servers. Unfortunately, the exact point of failure is unknown, so you can only keep blindly trying different ones. Simply run a tracert to the servers through the VPN to see if your route has changed. If the problem is early on in your route however, chances are you will not be able to find any VPNs that will help, because you will always be going through that one bad hop.

Your only other option is to get a different ISP in hope that they’re on a different network. If you have a phone capable of accessing the internet that your computer can connect through, you could try that.

Serial Number

Apparently their website broke and had the game listed as… $4. Those who purchased it didn’t get a key. ArenaNet can either refund these purchases or honor them. If this is your problem, you can only wait to see what happens.

In other cases however, you need to contact support and provide the transaction number. You don’t need a serial number to fill out a ticket. Only the fields marked with a red * are required.

Monitor sleeping/computer crashing randomly

If it was an issue of my GPU dying, then I would have the problem in all games wouldnt I?

Not necessarily. I’ve had a dying video card before that would work on certain games, but not others. Oddly, it was the older/less demanding games that caused it to crash. As time passed, the issue would get worse and worse (crashing would happen more frequently) to a point that all games would eventually crash. Even simply playing a video would cause it to crash. I knew there was a problem with my card however. It came overclocked and was known to have manufacturing issues, so as a result, I underclocked it to below its original settings, which let it live for another ~2 years.

Since support will likely tell you to do this anyways…

I’m assuming this is not a laptop and you are running Windows?

For starters, about the clean install. Restart the computer in safe mode to uninstall the drivers. Restart the computer, then install the drivers. You can start in safe mode by tapping F8 during boot, before Windows starts to load. Alternatively, while in Windows, you can press WindowsKey+R, open msconfig and select safe boot under the boot tab.

Delete the folder %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/ and the file, if it exists, Documents/Guild Wars 2/Local.dat. This is where your hardware related settings are stored. Basically, your video settings will be reset. In some cases, old settings have caused problems.

In case of other programs causing the problem, press WindowsKey+R and open msconfig. Under the services tab, check “Hide all Microsoft services” then click disable all. Under the startup tab, click disable all. Reboot the computer to start with these programs/services disabled, then try it. To undo this, simply do this in reverse.

If you know what you’re doing, pop out the video card and ensure there isn’t a problem with the contacts or dust in the slot, then reseat it.

If you have a free storage device, I would suggest quickly installing Windows and any required drivers, then trying to play the game on that. It’s the easiest/fastest way to rule out any software related problems.

GW1 support response time seems to take around 30-60 days. The last person I heard of that actually got a response (recently) took around 40 days (for the same issue – account recovery).

You can post your ticket number in the pertinent Sticky above.

They said not to, GW2 related tickets only as they are specifically a GW2 team.

The Walk of Shame

If ArenaNet wanted to do something simple, simply hide the ability to revive dead players while you are in combat. Either disable it entirely, or make them only revivable if you specifically click on them. This would fix the problem of dead people camping on interactables. Alternatively, if ArenaNet wanted to make it casual friendly, simply disable reviving and add an automatic ~30s respawn to a special waypoint near the event that is only active for that event. The perfect solution would be to actually have a contribution system that mattered, but that is nearly impossible to implement right as there are things that simply can’t be measured.

For people complaining about Gaile’s response, here’s an actual dev saying it, one of the people who actually designs the larger events:

http://youtu.be/NuYE77UW3js

13:22, 24:41, 29:18

Why should it just succeed when people just die and lie there? As punishment it SHOULD fail in my opinion…

Except only the people who were trying are being punished. The people leeching don’t care if it succeeds or not because what they get is just a bonus. They had no intention of trying either way. If the event is a guaranteed failure, they’ll just hop to a new one.

If you remove all those players, could it have succeeded? If the minimum requirements were met and depending on the difference in scale, probably, yes.

Although scaling is a great plus, other people can forcibly cause you to fail. So, why should you be punished for putting in 100x the effort and why should they receive the same rewards as you when they did nothing?

Being bad? That is pretty dumb to call people bad when they die. Ever heard of suicide attacks in wvw, or taking one for the team/server?

You are aware this is about PvE right? You know those “special” spots people like to huddle in, for example the sides on Jormag, the box near the Mark 2, the higher platform near the fire elemental, etc? If you die on these events, especially in those spots, you’re going to look like a bad player.

Open the start menu and search for cmd

Right click cmd.exe and run it as an administrator. In the command prompt window, enter the following commands and press enter to execute them. After both commands have completed successfully, reboot.

sfc /scannow
netsh winsock reset

The first command will check the integrity of your system files. The second will reset Winsock back to its default state, which some programs may hook into, then become corrupted, which causes network errors.

After the reboot, try running it.

If that didn’t help, press WindowsKey+R to bring up the run dialog, then open msconfig

This will bring up the System Configuration. Under the boot tab, check “Safe boot” and select “Network” under that. Click OK and reboot. This will cause the computer to start in safe mode with network access. Basically, all non essential programs will be disabled. You will not be able to play the game while in safe mode, however the launcher should still function. To undo this, open msconfig again and simply uncheck “Safe boot”

If the launcher still failed to run under safe mode with that specific error, reinstall Windows because it’s likely corrupted. You may first want to try fully updating Windows through Windows update and uninstalling/reinstalling your network adapter. Judging by the state of the desktop however, I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a virus, have deleted system files or followed poor instruction to “tune-up” the computer by disabling important features.

If the launcher worked however, you have another program running that is causing the problem.

Only purchases made through buy.guildwars2.com are eligible for a refund. Your method of payment must also be able to accept the refund since they will simply reverse the transaction. You can’t for example expect to pay with X account and receive a refund on Y account. This shouldn’t be a problem however, unless you, for example, cancel your credit card before requesting a refund.

Healix.5819

They don’t want to avoid “the walk of shame” they just don’t want to bother. Being dead is like placing a big “bad player” sign on top of you – the dunce cap of failure – which is worse.

The problem is, why waypoint? Regardless of what you do, you will still be rewarded as if you were the best player there. Why go to the trouble of running back when someone else will happily revive you at the end. As long as the event is successful and you got a few hits in, you might as well AFK the rest since you will be rewarded regardless. Being forcibly waypointed wouldn’t really change anything, except now that player can’t be used as a meat shield.

How is Debuff count handled in other MMO?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Healix.5819

GW2 made the mistake of spamming conditions and keeping high precision.

A 25 stack of bleeds in GW2 is the equivalent of 25 different DoTs in every other MMO. When other MMOs stack DoTs (on a personal level), they combine them into a single DoT, making it more powerful and simply refreshing its duration. That method is much cheaper to process. Even the DoTs that don’t stack in GW2, such as burning, stack in a queue rather than simply combining their duration. A full stack of burning is like 9 different DoTs.

DoTs in GW2 also constantly update based on your power, whereas in other MMOs, they tend to be static at the time they were applied.

The email receipt containing the GW2 key has disappeared.

Emails don’t just disappear. He either deleted it, never received it or it has been moved. Has he tried searching for it and looking through any folders, such as a junk or archived folder? If the email truly disappeared, I suggest finding a new email provider because either the account was compromised or all his emails get automatically deleted. If he uses an app to read his emails, it’s also possible that it downloads and locally stores the email, then deletes the online copy.

As for his email already being used, if he played GW1 or GW2 trial/beta with the same email, that is why. If he can’t remember the details, he will need to contact support to recover the account, though I would suggest to simply obtain a new email account. Recovering a GW1 account can take quite a while, like a month.

Monitor sleeping/computer crashing randomly

Healix.5819

The monitor “sleeping” while the computer is on is the result of the video card turning off, likely due to the graphics drivers crashing and failing to recover. Uninstall/clean install your graphics drivers. Disable any overlays or graphic mods/enhancers if you’re using any. Your video card may be simply dying. If its an overclocked model, you may want to underclock it as a test.
