Mordrem skill cooldowns after interrupt

in Living World

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

Those skills are their basic attacks. If you could interrupt them, they’d just stand there.

For the root attack, simply get within melee range once it begins and step outside of melee range after it stops. If you don’t step out and no one else is at range, it will try to switch to its leeching AoE and begin to follow you. If you want to stay at range, you can simply keep moving to out run the roots. Originally they were too fast to pop up, so you couldn’t out run them, then with the Silverwastes patch, they made them slower so you could. The last patch however made them a little faster, so you either have to run in a straight line forward or speed up your movement.

For the explosive projectiles, you can try jumping over them if you have a decent latency, or you can stay at range so that you can dodge through at least 2 of them. If you have a short cooldown interrupt however, watch the animation of the teragriff – it takes a few seconds to actually shoot the first projectile.

vs. me getting switched to another server within the server farm ?

Do you mean the time it actually takes for the server to let you enter a new map? If so, that’s instant. Or did you mean, when swapping instances of the same map, how much is loaded vs how much is already cached in memory? It looks like most data is loaded again, but I’d have to reboot to actually test that.

With an SSD, I can load into LA at the mystic forge in 9s. Of course, that’s not an accurate measurement because it all depends on how many people are there. Selecting Farshore Waypoint as a test, I can load in 4s. Waypointing back to the mystic forge costs a 2s loading screen.

If you use the command line option -maploadinfo, you can see additional details, like the time, number of models being loaded, server IP, progress and the streaming download.

It’s not about LEARNING the tells, because they all pretty much open with it.

If you know the tell, you wouldn’t get hit by it and for that reason, it wouldn’t matter if it was high damage attack instead. Back during beta, Ettins were actually like that with their club attack. If you didn’t avoid it, you were likely dead. Then everything in the early game got heavily nerfed.

The reason they usually open with special attacks is because of simple programming. They’ll use their skills first if the requirements are met, otherwise they’ll auto attack. There is some minor logic however, such as not using a knockdown if the target is already knocked down, which actually causes groups of them to knock you down in queue. They brought in a new AI guy for HoT, so the newer mobs might be different.

Getting knocked down with out losing any health just makes me sit there with one hand on my chin.

You want to lose 1/2 your health and get knocked down? Try pulling more than a single target?

It shows more info now and in HoT, it’ll display your mastery level, which was a yellow icon on a yellow background. Your green level on a yellow background wouldn’t look nice either.

It’ll likely be updated again with HoT.

Combat is TOO DIFFICULT

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Healix.5819

I thought this game was about skill based combat, using dodge to avoid attacks and all that.

I think you’re confused. Gear based combat is where you could just equip a set of defensive gear and casually, but slowly, push through the content.

GW2 uses the action combat model. Other than dodging, you can avoid attacks by simply stepping outside of their range. You’re meant to be highly mobile, unlike non-action games where you simply stand there and fire off a rotation.

If you’re getting knocked down by Risen, I’m guessing you’re facing a brute or an abomination. For the brute, simply watch for the hammer swing and step to the side. The abomination does the same thing, just bigger.

As for the fear and every other special attack in the game, watch your target and listen as it happens. Eventually you’ll learn the animation, or in some cases, the sound effect that warns you. There’s your skill based combat.

You can’t even JUMP in Guild Wars 1.
All you need to do is spam 1 while your heroes do the work with splinter weapon, minions, death nova, putrid bile, etc…

I don’t get how more “challenging” GW1 combat was,it was okay, but definitely not challenging. If you had the 7 heroes (or even only 3) party, you could just roll through missions.
Even resses were almost instantaneous (and some were really instantaneous) and you could do it from afar.

Yes,it was fun,but GW2 is 1000x better. (it was good for the time it was released)

Did you even play Guild Wars 1? Ever? I’m honestly curious.

Probably, yes. Everything they said is quite accurate.

I played GW1 on and off since its original release (about a month per expansion) with no real purpose. It was only until the GW2 HoM was announced that I actually bothered to do any of the extras, going from something like 500 hours to 3k.

GW1 was all about the builds you were using. With the proper hero setup, everything was as simple as going AFK and letting them kill everything. That’s how I did most of my hard mode vanquishing and missions – c, space and AFK. The only parts that actually required input were when I would need to position them, such as defending a specific area or preparing for AoE heavy areas. I pretty much used the same hero setup (spirit team/mes/necro something) everywhere I went with little effort, including most of the dungeons/elite areas (FoW, UW, etc).

Of course GW1 was much more difficult and very annoying prior to adding the positioning flags and back when my team consisted of only henchmen. (I played 100% solo)

Don’t expect to see that outside of boss encounters.

Stacking conditions in GW2 is far more complex than how most other MMOs handle it. Simply put, a stack of 100 bleeds is like 100 different debuffs in other MMOs. A zerg’s worth of conditions on a zerg would be expensive to process, though it is possible. Unless they reworked how conditions work or improved the back-end, I’m guessing it’s optimized for specialty targets only.

You’re experiencing an error on the system level (ie, problem with drivers) that Windows is failing to recover from.

Is your CPU overclocked? An unstable CPU will do just that. Undo it.

Update the drivers for your network and video card. If you have another method of connecting to your network, use that. I for example once had a wireless card that would bluescreen when transferring data too fast.

Press WindowsKey+R and open msconfig. Under the boot tab, check safe boot and select networking under it. Click OK and reboot, which will start your computer in safe mode. To undo this, uncheck safe boot. Try running the launcher, but don’t try playing the game, since you can’t. Under safe mode, all non-essential programs are disabled and you’re using a limited set of drivers, ruling out some of those potential problems.

wdmaud.drv, gw2.exe takes 5 minutes to close

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

Does it happen every time? If it does, and started happening on your first login after the patch, it’s likely a bug.

Instead of closing GW2 normally, have you tried to minimize it and use the task manager to kill Gw2.exe under processes (not “end task”)? If it still hangs like that, it’s a problem with Windows waiting on something rather than something GW2 is causing by asking it to shutdown.

If you login to the character select and close the game, does it still do it? If so, you can use it as an easy test. If not, set your sound quality to fastest to reduce the chances of overflowing the sound card. If it still does it however, try changing the audio device from within GW2 to your onboard sound.

Have you tested the onboard sound simply to see if it does it? Try setting it as your default playback device in Windows. Delete or temporarily rename the file
%appdata%/Guild Wars 2/Local.dat and if it exists,
Documents/Guild Wars 2/Local.dat. Doing this will reset your settings, so GW2 should load using the default device. Restart your computer. Now try triggering the problem. If it doesn’t do it, try selecting your other device under GW2 to see if it still does it. If it doesn’t, perhaps there was a software conflict with something else also trying to use the device. If it still does it however, it’s either a bug with GW2 or the device.

Try reinstalling your sound card. Download the latest drivers, uninstall your current drivers and install the new ones.

If you haven’t already, open cmd.exe and enter the following command to check your system files: sfc /scannow

Are you saying support allowed an account to be recovered by an attacker without knowing the full details of the account? If that’s how it happened, the fault would be on ArenaNet and they would roll back the account as a special case.

It’s more likely however that the account was simply compromised again. Used the same or a similar password somewhere else? Left an account trail, linking the old email to the new one? Out of date software? – something as simple as an ad on a website can act as a keylogger.

If you suspect you’re infected, reformat. Malicious software that is written for a very specific purpose will likely not be detected. The “keylogger” could also be someone you know in real life – never type your password into an unsecure/public computer.

Benefits? More dailies/daily rewards, gathering, more personal guild banks/character storage, infinite trading post storage without clogging your main account, the ability to mail yourself, the ability to be anonymous. If you do world bosses for example, you can easily get double the rewards in the same amount of time.

When on sale for $10, if you were planning on buying 800 gems anyways, a new account will pay for itself within a few months just by logging in once a day due to the laurels.

Downsides? Only if you intend to treat it as a normal account, meaning you’ll have to unlock everything twice and buy multiple copies of HoT, etc.

GW2 stores about 300 MB worth of stuff on your C: (assuming a standard Windows installation) regardless of where you install it. If you don’t have that much free space, you’ll need to manually relocate these folders. One of them however has a random name (the trading post’s cache) that changes once in a while, so you’ll have to keep track of it or move the entire %temp% folder (which is likely full of garbage).

The folders are:

%appdata%\Guild Wars 2\
Documents\Guild Wars 2\
%temp%\gw2cache-{…}

To make a link:

First, move the original folder. For example, move the “Guild Wars 2” folder under
%appdata% to where you put Gw2.exe, and rename it AppData. Open cmd.exe and enter the following command to recreate the %appdata% folder, but as a link (put in your own path):

mklink /J "%%appdata%%\Guild Wars 2" "D:\Guild Wars 2\AppData"

If you’re that low on space however, your system is likely suffering from other problems, like the ability to update Windows.

As for installing the game, simply rename Gw2Setup.exe to Gw2.exe and place it where you’d like to install it.

Lower the recording quality, frame rate, frame size or use a different compressor? Not sure what Overwolf supports. For comparison, a high quality 1920×1080 recording is around 1.5GB/min and an uncompressed recording is around 10GB/min. You then take these high quality files and compress them prior to uploading them to something like YouTube. Personally, I end up with something like 60-150 MB/min, 1080@30fps.

EU or NA Server/Graphics question

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

Normally, if you are in EU, you’d likely have better results playing on the EU servers. However, there is a problem with some of the routes in EU during certain times which causes unstable connections leading to lag and disconnections. You might be already going through this route, in which case you’d likely still be going through it if you switched. You might not be however, but switching to EU might cause you to. Where this bad route exactly is I don’t know, so you would have to either take a gamble or run a program like PingPlotter all day to get a sample, looking for packet loss and/or an increase in latency.

Try pinging a NA server (64.25.38.69) vs a EU server (206.127.146.45) to see what your latency is. Depending on how close or how far away you are, there might be a 100+ms difference (the cost of going overseas).

Changing your graphics quality will not require you to download any additional game data. However, increasing your model limit and quality will increase your bandwidth usage as more player information will need to be streamed to you. There’s a big difference between playing alone and being near a zerg as everyone’s positioning, skill use, movement, look, etc all needs to be constantly sent to you.

The Break-bar, or how to commit to mechanics

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

You want individual CCs to be to do what they’re supposed to do in large group encounters? Do you want to fail?

Designing encounters like that requires either a horde of enemies (ie, boss + elite guards, +2 for every 3 players) or a boss that is designed to instantly kill everyone, making CC required. Most MMOs simply go the route of disabling CC, since CC spam trivializes everything.

Why should a boss be vulnerable to CC? A boss wouldn’t be afraid (fear) and they should have a overpowering combat stance preventing any knockbacks/knockdowns/stuns. If anything, attempting to CC a boss should make them counter you, punishing your feeble attempts. Try to knockback the boss? It pulls you in/grabs you.

How would you design an encounter where CC was useful yet didn’t trivialize the encounter due to a large group? The break system they’re using isn’t exactly a new concept. It’s purpose is to make CC useful and even required, yet not rely on any specific CC or the coordination of a group on voice chat. Remember, casual friendly.

1) deleting the local.dat file and using the " -repair" line.

Local.dat is located under %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/ and Documents/Guild Wars 2/. The one under your documents folder may not exist, but if it does, it takes priority. The purpose of deleting these files is to reset your hardware related settings, though you would have needed to delete the entire %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/ folder since the video settings are split. By default however, the game runs in full screen, which it sounds like you’re having problems with.

2) uninstalling and reinstalling gw2 completely.

Future note. There is no reason to uninstall/reinstall GW2 unless you drive dies. For everything else, simply using the -repair command and deleting a few key files should be enough (which uninstalling doesn’t actually do).

3) using the " -windows" line.

Use -windowed to force the game into windowed mode.

0kb/second Download Speed Error HELP!

Healix.5819

Rename gw2.exe to Gw2.exe. It won’t change anything, but that’s how it’s supposed to be named. The purpose of renaming Gw2Setup.exe to Gw2.exe is simply to convert it from the installer to the launcher. Some systems don’t like how Gw2Setup.exe acts by default, which is like a simple virus.

First, a simple test. Create a folder on your desktop and put Gw2.exe in that folder (this is for security permission purposes). Right click Gw2.exe and select properties. If it says the file has been blocked, unblock it. Delete the folder %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/ and if it exists, the file Documents/Guild Wars 2/Local.dat. Disable your anti-virus and/or any other security software/features. Right click Gw2.exe and run it as an administrator.

Open the start menu and search for cmd. Right click cmd.exe and run it as an administrator. Enter the following commands:

netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset

This will reset Winsock and TCP/IP back to their original states, which other programs may hook into and become corrupted. This likely isn’t the problem however since the download does start. If you want to verify, reboot and try running it, otherwise move on.

Next, verify that no other software is causing conflicts. Press WindowsKey+R and open msconfig. Under the boot tab, check safe boot and select networking. Click OK and reboot. Your computer will start in safe mode. The launcher should still function, however you will not be able to play the game. To undo this, open msconfig and uncheck safe boot.

If safe mode worked, open msconfig and under the services tab check hide all Microsoft, then click disable all. Under the startup tab, click disable all. Click OK and reboot. This will disable most non-essential programs, similar to safe mode, however certain key programs, such as your anti-virus, will still be enabled. If the launcher still works, open msconfig and do the same thing again, but instead, re-enable them a bit at a time. Continue doing this until it no longer works in order to find what is causing the problem.

If safe mode didn’t work, the problem is likely network related. If possible, directly connect your computer to your internet source to rule out any problems with your router. If that’s not possible, disable any extra software your router may be running, such as a firewall. Next:

8. Have been told to use a site like CyberGhost to change where the game thinks I’m located, but have refused to do so because the software seems very virus-y, if you guys (tech support) think it’s wise… please tell me.

When using a VPN, you create a encrypted connection to the VPN’s server that acts as a middleman, relaying your connection. It is possible for them to sniff and try to analyze your connection, but I doubt any popular VPN would bother unless they were specifically targeting you due to the amount of data they would be transferring in total.

You may want to try one to verify that your ISP isn’t causing any problems. GW2 downloads on port 80, which some ISPs like to assume is web traffic and try to handle it as such. Other than CyberGhost, you could try a free trial of WTFast or Battleping.

If you think the VPN software might not be safe, download VirtualBox and setup of a virtual installation of Windows, then run it through that. You can also use this virtual installation to verify there isn’t a problem with your actual one.

They reply that because I can’t provide the credit card information, I’m not the account owner, despite the registration being in the same email address I’ve used for guild wars for years, despite the fact that I have the CD key, Despite the fact that it’s linked to my HoM, as if she just linked it for any other purpose than to gift it to me.

Considering ArenaNet has told people they can buy keys for friends, and people resell keys, what they’re asking for doesn’t make sense. If there was ever a credit card used on the account with the same name as what was used to initially register the account however, I can see why they would want it. Some other form of ID should be enough, assuming you’re registered as the account’s owner.

If you’re trying to change the email of the account, they’re likely suspicious. You could try to get them to return it to its prior email, assuming they keep logs.

You basically have to keep trying. A different support agent might give you an easier time.

They also tell me they cannot shut down the account despite me telling them it’s violating the terms of service, as that “Isn’t a service they offer”

It’s not something you can ask for, that would be a mess. It’s something they have to determine, for example, if multiple people can provide enough details to warrant an account recovery.

Racial storytelling is GOOD, Collin.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

The problem with racial specific storylines is that you’re forced into playing a specific race. A branching racial storyline is even worse in that aspect. The different races are not played equally either, meaning most development resources should be poured into Humans whereas the least goes into Charr.

Branching storylines are fine however, but only if you plan on replaying the content. How many people actually replay it versus how many play through it only once? The problem is, would you rather have 10 entirely unique 1 hour long storylines or a single 10 hour long story? Take the personal story for example. If it was all joined together, it would be 2-3x as long and you could probably level entirely through it.

If they want a branching story, it should be replayable like the living story, but allow you to branch like the personal story. This would give you a unique experience, but not force you into playing a new character. The problem with branching in an MMO however is that everyone has to end up at the same outcome, otherwise the story is pointless in regards to the rest of the game. Because of this, you will always be funneled into a specific outcome, diminishing the story in favor of having multiple options.

The original soundtrack produced by Jeremy Soule was only available from his own store, DirectSong. From the beginning, they were (supposedly) plagued by manufacturing problems leading to months worth of delays for every batch. After the initial shipment, which took several weeks, less and less people were receiving their copy without any acknowledgement from DirectSong. They were also hesitant to offer refunds, even though some of these people had waited for over a year. After DirectSong updated their store, GW2 was removed, though GW1 is still listed. Jeremy Soule said that this would be his final soundtrack in the series, and later, around launch, he made a comment about not being invited, although his music was, so maybe there was also something going on behind the scenes involving him and ArenaNet. After launch, GW2 used their own team for the music, which can be found on SoundCloud and Jeremy Soule entered an exclusive deal and is now tied to EQN.

In short, the original soundtrack is no longer produced.

so don’t tell me to check the router, or the internet connection

You don’t need to try a VPN or different asset servers either then, since that’s not your problem, assuming both computers are connected to the same router.

-

If you are running Gw2Setup.exe, rename it to Gw2.exe and put it where you want to install it. Some systems don’t like how Gw2Setup.exe acts by default.

Right click Gw2.exe and select properties. If it notes that the file is blocked, click unblock.

If you’ve ever modified the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file before to add something involving GW2, remove it.

Run GW2 with a clean shortcut or by executing Gw2.exe directly. Don’t use a VPN or any assetsrv modifications, unless the other computer also required it.

Search your start menu for cmd, right click cmd.exe and run it as an administrator. Enter the following commands and reboot:

netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset

This will reset your Winsock and TCP/IP to their default states, which other programs can hook into and corrupt, either by being bugged, improperly uninstalled or a virus. Try running it.

In case of DNS corruption, ensure that your DNS server isn’t being modified. Check it against the other computer or just setup Google’s DNS. See Google’s tutorial on how to check it or set it up. Open cmd.exe and enter the following command to clear your cache:

ipconfig /flushdns

Press WindowsKey+R and open msconfig. Under the boot tab, check safe boot and select networking under that. Click OK and reboot. Your computer will start in safe mode. All non-essential program will be disabled, allowing you to rule out any problems involving software conflicts. The launcher should still function, but you can’t play the game under safe mode. To undo this, open msconfig and uncheck safe boot.

If safe mode worked, you’ll need to use msconfig to disable all non-Microsoft services and all startup programs, then try again. If that worked, you’ll need to go through the lists a little bit at a time to re-enable them until it doesn’t work to find the problem.

If safe mode didn’t work, obtain the latest drivers for your network adapter, then uninstall it and re-install it using those drivers. Open cmd.exe as an administrator and enter the command:

sfc /scannow

This will check your system files. Try running the launcher in safe mode again. If it still fails, your fastest and easiest option is to re-install Windows. If you have another way of connecting to your router however, try it to rule out a hardware problem.

If your system still freezes, update your graphics drivers. If it still freezes, this is where you’ll want to start debugging, but if this problem just started happening with the patch, there might be a problem with the game. In that case, support would want your diagnostics file (Gw2.exe -diag).

If inactive accounts didn’t count, you can assume this is when it happens (any account that hasn’t logged in since the last check wouldn’t count). Remove “14.0.58.2 assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com” from your C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file. Those server can change, resulting in your trying to connect to something that no longer exists. If you want to continue overriding the IP, use the -assetsrv command instead.

Try running the game on port 80 and 443. (Gw2.exe -clientport 80)

To verify it’s not a software problem, press WindowsKey+R and open msconfig. Under the boot tab, check safe boot and select networking under it. Click OK and reboot. Your computer will start in safe mode. The launcher should still work, however you will not be able to play the game like this. Open msconfig and uncheck safe boot to return to normal.

According to the pathpings, you are seeing quite a bit of packet loss, upwards of 90% at LDN-London.as6453.net. The hops after that don’t respond to pings however, causing the trace to stop. You would need to use a program such as Ping Plotter to see the full picture. To work around this problem, you would need to use a VPN to reroute your connection through a different network.

Do you think Anet is hiding something big

ArenaNet is hiding something big. The price. A simple number reveals a lot and people will judge it.

Remember when they said you won’t kill the same boss twice and that events don’t repeat? Anet has a way of saying something that really isn’t how things are.

The manifesto video was a few sentences pulled out of a much larger source. If you didn’t understand the context, the video was basically a comparison to WoW. Look at the written manifesto for example, though it doesn’t cover some of the points.

Killing the same boss was in reference to questing in other MMOs. There, you do a quest to kill something, then someone else comes are kills it again. What you do truly does not matter. Although they were referring to the personal story, most bosses in the open world don’t just respawn. If you pay attention, there’s usually a reason why they’re back.

As for repeating events, that wasn’t mentioned, however I do remember them saying something like that a long time ago. It is of course impossible to not repeat events, however, on a normal play through, you’re not always going to do the exact same events like you would a quest line in every other MMO.

Please end this macro instruments.

People used macros before ArenaNet allowed it and people will continue to do so regardless. Truthfully, it doesn’t matter what the policy is, if you’re not doing something harmful, nothing is going to happen. A simple macro cannot be detected without catching all types of special keys.

Even if you wanted to follow the 1 key rule, you could simply use a smart key to play music – simply spam it, the software will do the rest.

You can’t really tell for sure who is or isn’t using a macro. A macro may be slightly different each time due to CPU timing or ping and a player who has legitimately played the same song many times will probably seem like they’re using a macro. What is impossible? Something you find impossible might be trivial for someone else.

*Pre-nerf BWE when enemies featured dodge or die mechanics. For example, people dying to a Moa’s peck, an Ettin’s smash or that drake event tail swiping half of the zerg.

*The rally tutorial that assumed you would figure it out

*Rangers pets ran out of AoE?

All enemies ran out of AoE, which was somewhat exploitable because you could get your target to constantly run away. It was also very annoying playing as a class with only AoEs.

Why can’t you login? Problem with the launcher? Connection error? Account problem? You can login, but the game won’t launch/black screen?

Are you sharing an account? Keybindings are stored on the server so anyone accessing your account could be changing your settings (except for video/sound).

After changing your keybindings, close the window, open the game’s menu and select logout (to the launcher). Log back in. Did they reset? If yes, there may be something wrong with your account.

Are you running the game with the -prefreset option (check your shortcut)? It will reset your preferences.

The token method is simply an alternative to RNG. Would you rather farm those imps for days and potentially get nothing, or farm them for tokens and guarantee your odds?

GW2 does feature content specific drops. Final Rest from the Shadow Behemoth for example or Xanthium from Twilight Arbor.

Which VPN server works for you is entirely dependent on your location and its location. What works for someone else is not guaranteed to work for you, unless they’re your neighbor and with the same ISP. Use the tracert command to see your default route, then do it again through a VPN to see if it has changed. Your goal is to reroute your connection around the problem. Worst case, your ISP is directly connected to the problem and no matter what VPN you try, you would always be routed through that one bad hop. Your only option in that case is to find a new ISP on a different network.

Did you move Gw2.exe out of your %temp% folder? If not, files in the %temp% folder can be deleted, as the name implies. There was a small patch, are you sure it’s redownloading the entire game (over 300k files)?

Ensure that you’re running the correct Gw2.exe. There should be a Gw2.dat file in the same folder and it should be around 20GB. You may want to check your drive for any errors (under Computer, right click the drive > properties > tools > error checking > select all options). If you must fully download the game again, verify the state of this file after it’s complete and make a copy of it just in case.

As for other storage locations,
Hardware settings and CoherentUI crash dumps are under %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/
Alternate settings, logs and screenshots are under Documents/Guild Wars 2/
CoherentUI cache files are under the %temp% folder, in any folder that begins with gw2cache
Temporary Gw2Setup.exe files (Gw2.exe, Gw2.dat, Gw2.tmp, bin) are stored in the %temp% folder

another PS: i’ve loaded 1020p vids in youtube on my isp and they didnt even buffer to load, so it is most definitely not my connection.

fyi, all that means is that the problem isn’t your connection, as in your connection to your ISP. There are thousands of points of failure between your ISP and GW2. Imagine driving somewhere. You don’t take the same exact path to go everywhere do you?

You can try using the pathping command or PingPlotter to get an idea of where the problem is. You basically want to look for packet loss or an abnormal increase in response time. Other than complaining to your ISP with that information however, you can try to use a VPN to reroute your connection around the problem. Also note that your ISP can’t fix the problem, like you, they have to complain, but to the network causing it.

Teragriff OP

Teragriffs are easy to deal with. Don’t just spam snares because they can cleanse themselves before a charge. Don’t rely on snares either, as they still might charge for a second, hitting you if you’re close. If you keep moving away and around it, it’s possible to just side step the charge. When it leaps at you, don’t stay in that small area since it’s an unmarked AoE for a few seconds. If you’re dealing with multiples, use the terrain to your advantage.

Missile teragriffs are far more deadly. As a glass elementalist, each hit from a level 80 veteran is like 1/4th my health. An upscaled level 83 is double that. If you are at range, dodge at the last second before a missile hits you in order to dodge at least 2 of them. You can also jump over them if you can time it right and have a decent ping.

1v3 is often already enough, when they start to charge all at the same tiem at you and right at that moment when you want to dodge, you get perma rooted with tons of immobilizes so that their rishes and al ltheir stacking lines wil lhit you.

Husks root. They shoot out slow moving projectiles that go in a straight line. If you’re within melee range, dodge, otherwise simply move in the other direction to evade it (they don’t follow you).

However, run into a fort to help out with 6 or 8 of them waiting for you….ok, game over. I can’t CC that many of them at once when they all opt to charge me. XD

First, look before you blindly run it and take note of the teragriffs and what kind they are. If you plan on taking on a failing fort, start by heading for the stairs. Keeping up top will limit their charges and force the ones that shoot missiles to either miss or come to you. When everything starts coming up to the walls, jump down, head for the other side and repeat.

Personally, as a staff elementalist, I just pull everything, drop the AoE snare then hide behind a wall and have them walk into my AoEs and die.

Free LS vs heart of thorns

What ArenaNet is doing is experimental. They probably don’t even know what they’ll end up with. The way season 1 worked was the closest to their vision of a living world, but like the real world, if you miss it, you miss it.

The problem is, the living story doesn’t sell itself and to a lot of people, free content automatically means it’s mediocre. People outside of the game don’t care that some game is getting a patch. Did you hear anything about WoW’s last major patch? How about its expansion? Expansions generate far more interest as they’re treated like a new game.

Moving forward, I suspect that they’ll continue with the expansion model and use the living story as a beginning and an end. I wouldn’t be surprised if they stopped selling the episodes and included them with the expansion, unless they end up selling it for 24.99-34.99 to compensate. The tricky part about the price however is people will judge it, 49.99 being the expected price of a full expansion.
