I missed that, what are they? I know it’s not official, but I want an idea of what they are thinking about.
Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns is now available for prepurchase. Buy now to receive the Maguuma Trailblazer exclusive title and access to all beta weekend events.
Armor is meant to be more prestigious and therefore, should only be earned through gameplay. It was the same in GW1, which only sold costumes.
The gem store will always get more outfits than the game gets new armor because they have a team dedicated to that. It’s their job to release new items and make a profit. As long as skins are profitable, they’ll continue to make more of them. Nothing’s stopping them however from sharing resources, allowing you to earn select pieces.
They did mention hard mode achievements for the story instances, but we already have those. Unfortunately, they’ll probably either continue to allow groups to trivialize them or design them for groups.
- NO MORE EASY CONTENT THAT I CAN ACCOMPLISH BY AFK-ING THE EVENT
Until they fix contribution to actually factor contribution, this will never happen regardless of how difficult something is because you can simply leech it. The same can said for most group content – you can usually carry at least 1 bad player.
After the NPE and its resulting portrayal of what ArenaNet feels new players are capable of, which is next to nothing, how can you have so much faith in anything “challenging”?
ArenaNet had much higher expectations originally. They assumed players would explore and be familiar with mobile combat. They were forced to adapt, else lose beginners. Back in beta, the early areas were heavily nerfed. A lot of enemies had charge up attacks that would basically 1 shot you. For example a Moa’s peck or an Ettin’s club smash. Enemies simply did more damage in general. Even the tutorial boss featured a 1 shot mechanic, but the average player didn’t know about or figure out rallying.
Regardless of the low level nerfs however, the leveling experience can be quite challenging if you want it to be. Simply play naked while keeping up with +2 level areas.
Your security software probably doesn’t like you downloading executables, though it could be a higher level problem. Try temporarily disabling it and/or trying a different web browser.

What loads forever? Downloading Gw2Setup.exe or running Gw2Setup.exe?
If you’re trying to run Gw2Setup.exe, rename it to Gw2.exe and place it wherever you’d like to install the game, such as C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe, then run it.
Just one question – did any woman do any of the armor art?
In general, the hunter and warrior classes are usually the easiest to play in MMOs. The warrior class generally has a basic and base design while the hunter class can rely on pets.
In GW2, the ranger is the easiest class to play. The pet will simply tank for you, allowing you to casually play through the game. However, doing that will likely create bad habits. To be decent, you’ll need to learn to be mobile, evade attacks and dodge when necessary. Play a warrior.
Firstly, pre-purchasing, bonuses and the collector’s edition have yet to be confirmed. Although pre-purchase bonuses were found in the game data, it has not been officially announced and is thus subject to change.
That said, if GameStop is selling an official pre-purchase collector’s edition, you will receive a pre-purchase serial key, which grants the bonuses. Note that it has to be an actual pre-purchase edition, not just an in-store reservation/pay up front deal.
Open Computer, right click the drive GW2 is on and select properties. Under the tools tab, click check under error checking, then begin the scan. Once complete, use the -repair command.
That’s the general idea of what they wanted, but you can only guess how far they actually take it. Since the profession icon will be changing, you can assume the name will also, or at the very least, it’ll be noted.
Jon PetersSo when you make your ranger a druid, you are a druid, you have a druid profession icon and players can know that’s a druid and they have a good idea of what a druid does and what the druid profession mechanics are.
as far as I know there is no AoE cap in nature,
There is. For every object an AoE passes through, its power decreases. Take for example a rain of arrows. Sacrifice a few to create a shield, saving the many.
Basically it further unbalance the WvW experience.
WvW isn’t meant to be balanced, it’s meant to be an unfair war. Instead of relying on CC immunity, play smarter.
Orr is what zones were meant to be like. Hearts only exist because of the original NPE. They found that players couldn’t figure out what to do, so they added hearts to act as quests, then scouts to direct players towards them. Hearts are only intended to get you to move through the map, to find events.
Hearts were basically meant to act as a quest hub. With their newer design, they’re making popular areas, then putting events around them. It’s basically the same thing, but without a UI telling you. If you bother to look, you can even find small stories, the same as with a heart.
ArenaNet has always been into exploration. You have to go out of you way if you want to see everything. At one point, events were invisible. Instead of being told to save a village, you just did because you wanted to. The problem however was that traditional questers skip everything.
Windows 5.1 is XP. The 64-bit, assuming it’s accurate, means it’s XP 64-bit edition, the one developed for Itanium processors, not the x64 edition normal computers had. Support for that version was dropped early on, like 10 years ago.
Upgrading that computer is not an option. You’d need a whole new one.
That OS doesn’t meet the minimum requirements. Support won’t help you and it might not actually even be capable of running the game. The error involves C runtimes though, so you could try updating that, if possible. You could also try running Gw2.exe under safe mode with networking in case something else is interfering. If you’re running Gw2Setup.exe, rename it to Gw2.exe.
being able to change the login music would be great
I don’t want an API character key, because players will use it to exclude people from groups like they do in other games.
The ability to view your character online has a lot of potential. Who should they cater to? If people really wanted to, they could request you to live stream your gear.
By requiring a key, only those who you’ve allowed can see your character. People would of course kick you for not giving it. But the content in GW2 that has those groups is an extreme minority. Dungeons in GW2 were originally revealed as content intended for coordinated groups. The simple solution is to go back to that design by enforcing it. Drop support for dungeons and reveal “guild” dungeons. You’re no longer playing with randoms and you shouldn’t have to hide from your own guild.
I really wouldn’t be surprised if they implemented an API for viewing your character/achievements/etc, allowing players to make a WoW-like armory. Considering the pace of the API development though, I also wouldn’t expect to see it for several years.
reason I rename instead of deleting is because if its deleted first theres a possibility the data will go in same place and if theres a bad sector on hd you`re going to have the same problem
There’s no need to redownload the entirety of Gw2.dat. Simply make a copy of Gw2.dat. If you hard drive has a problem, it will fail to fully copy or crash since it cannot be read.
To simply scan the drive, open Computer, right click the drive and select properties. Select the tools tab, then error checking.
What I was asking about is PvE dueling, in which two players fight using their currently equipped armor, weapons, food effects and whatever else they desire.
Back in beta, open world dueling was something they were open to. What we ended up with was casual dueling in the form of costume brawl and actual dueling in the form of custom arenas.
One problem, though, is that it’s not infinite. Beyond a certain number of players (10, if his data is still accurate), the scaling up is less than the player adds to the battle. So, it’s bad to lose players, since the downscaling brings the numbers down to a new number that slightly favors the boss.
Not everyone is equal. 3 well played zerkers will easily outperform 100 random players.
Have you ever seen a breach fail? It’s possible to solo them. Ever complained about a lack of numbers at Vinewrath? It only takes 4 people per lane. (from personal experience)
As long as you have enough decent players to meet the minimum requirements, events would never fail if people who couldn’t pull their own weight simply tagged and left. Those who fail are simply requiring others to do their portion of the work for them. How contribution works really needs to be changed, but then it wouldn’t be casual friendly.
Create a dueling mini-game.
(costume brawl)
Rebind it to one of the F# keys and change the functionality of that key to that of a toggle. Most keyboard/macro software can do it. Simply send a key down without the up.
Click the subscribe button under the logo.
Check your keybindings/rebind print screen.
Tomorrow is the beta. They’ll likely be skipping reveals this week and simply recap the beta. If anything is going to be revealed though, they’ll probably let the players find it in the beta.
They haven’t announced anything. If you want an estimation, it’s looking like it’ll be late August. The announcement of pre-purchasing will be the key, which they should reveal within the next few weeks. If they don’t, it’s very likely that HoT won’t be released until December+.
Until they announce the date, it’s fairly safe to assume that it won’t be released within the next 3 months.
(you can whisper people while invisible)
So ANET not only allows, but apparently endorses macros to some extent.
The wiki is written by the players. The page only showed that ArenaNet supports the LCD. The rest is describing what the device is.
Simple macros are allowed, complex macros are not. The general rule is 1 action per key press. Their policy.
If it’s obvious macroing then it’d be easily detected and dealt with by a GM on-hand without a report, too.
Obvious macroing is easily detectable. Simply using a macro however cannot be detected. Through analysis, they can make assumptions, but they can’t prove it without a doubt as long as what you’re doing is humanly possible.

Use a program like WinRAR or 7-Zip to split Gw2.dat into multiple parts and transfer them one at a time.
After transferring the two parts, merge them back into Gw2.dat, download Gw2Setup.exe, rename it to Gw2.exe then place it where you’d like to install GW2 (for example, C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe). Put Gw2.dat in the same folder with Gw2.exe, then run it.
If you’re only capable of making one run, meaning you’re only able to transfer 16 GB of Gw2.dat, use “Gw2.exe -repair” to attempt to recover it.
The size of Gw2.dat will vary depending on the patches you’ve downloaded. It’ll be anywhere from 20-24 GB fully updated.
Reset everyone’s skill challenges? Okay, but as a side effect, map completion rewards are also reset.
Regardless of what they do, you will have to PvE if you want enough hero points. Unlocking the new elite spec will require ~100 of them. If they wanted to cater to WvW-only players, they could make skill challenges in WvW award 5 points each, but that creates another problem. The simplest solution is to either not support WvW-only players or make WvW less PvE-casual friendly by using the SPvP mode. Trying to cater to both sides will cause bloat, and if they do that, they may as well stick with farmable points and simply cap them.
Do you even use every single trait and skill? Those missing 65 points are only 13 unlocks. A single trait line is 60 points and you’ll only be able to use 3 at a time.
I am missing every piece of cultural and dungeon armor and weapons I bought.
I’m assuming you’re looking in the wardrobe for their skins? If you no longer have the original items, their skins will not be unlocked. You will need to login to each character to unlock what they have in their inventory and you’ll also need to enter the heart of the mists to unlock any PvP skins you had.
and that toon has to BUY every single trait?
Don’t bother. In a month or two, they’ll be free again – you’ll only need to complete 65 skill challenges in total (and be 80) to unlock everything. If you must, only unlock what you need.
ArenaNet offers refunds if you purchase the game directly through them. There’s really no need for a free trial, which likely does more harm than good.
The progress is based on the number of files remaining. It’ll always start at 0%, it’s the total files that will change.
But 3 blocks of 2 hours during the week in a time barely any European player can partake?
It’s not an actual beta like you would expect it to be. You’re not looking for bugs or to give feedback. It’s more of a stress test.
The point of doing it in blocks is so they can fix problems or change configurations in between. The actual goal of the beta is to test something specific in an active environment, which they simply can’t do internally because they don’t have hundreds of players. The last beta for example was likely testing the impact of removing the bleed caps.
GW2 is a skill based game. Instead of relying on gear to create a fake sense of difficulty, they rely on actual player skill. As the difficulty increases, there will come a point where people will find that they’re no longer capable of playing. If you haven’t noticed, every major content release has slightly increased the difficulty, from the Molten Alliance to Mordrem minions.
The difficulty will scare people off; it already has. Some people simply couldn’t handle Orr for example. That’s the downside of all skill based games. I have no doubt that people will complain about the difficulty of HoT in the same way people have complained all along. For example, the solo instances are impossible to solo. If you stand and try to facetank, you’re going to have a bad time.
I hope this new hard content actually means if you run in with full zerker gear you are going to die and be useless to team.
If that were to ever happen, players that currently rely on defense would no longer be able to play and GW2 would have devolved into a stat-based, rather than skill-based game.
Full offense will always be the best option for the top players. GW2 is an action game. You’re not meant to take hits, you’re meant to avoid them by being mobile, or as a last resort, dodging. As the difficulty increases, the only thing that will change is the gap between zerkers and everyone else. It may come to a point that taking a single hit may get you 1 shot, making zerker builds very dangerous, but that’s also a part of the challenge. The zerkers people like to complain about, as in the ones that die, are those that would fall into the gap. The zerkers you never notice, the ones that are carrying everyone else, are the ones that will always be capable of running zerker.

Back in beta, there was a megaphone gem store item that allowed you to broadcast a message to everyone on the server. The functionality of a server-wide message is likely still possible, but it’s far too easily abused. If someone’s looking for a guild, they’ll look for one. Instead, what you want is a tool similar to LFG, but for guilds. There’s also a place here on the forums for recruitment, but the vast majority of players will never see it.
Its not the “pay for prepurchase/beta” one.
They’ll probably reveal pre-purchases the week after this beta ends. They wouldn’t want to reveal it now because pre-purchasing wouldn’t include this one and people would complain on both sides (not getting in vs farmers wasting their time).
If they want to launch this year, pre-purchasing needs to be revealed within the next month. Any later and they’re moving into a winter/2016 release.
- more than 4 players start scaling the boss up. some bosses require a minimum amount of players to complete due to time restraints (they basically require a minimum amount of dps and since they don’t scale with 100% base life, more players doing damage increase the kill speed)
The minimum number varies for different types of scaling and event classes, but because of this, if every player that couldn’t handle it waypointed out, events would never fail, assuming there were a few decent players left. The problem however is they don’t bother and the lower amount of participants you have, the far greater of an impact each individual makes and the more of a problem leechers become. Personally, I’ve done Vinewrath with only ~4 people per lane and have solo’d the breaches, which is far more fun than zerging it.
Events don’t scale 1:1, so you would expect that more people would be able to kill it faster, but most of the time, they’re worse. The average zergling is a terrible and mindless 1 button spammer. If there are twice as many bad players than good players, numbers are hurting you.
What was shown in the video at the end of season 2 hasn’t happened yet. HoT will begin with the Pact assault failing.
What is frozen in time is just that. The Pact is readying their assault.
For the single fractal daily, solo the urban battlegrounds fractal. It’s easy enough with the NPCs doing 90% of the work. It’s probably why they left it. ArenaNet considers that it can be done solo and it’s an easy way for a solo player to get a pristine fractal relic, which was one of the requirements of Mawdrey.
It’s a shame that Anet would design a page that can’t be viewed if the user elects to have a more rigid level of protection against spyware but I guess it’s just a sign of the times.
It has nothing to do with what browser you’re using.
Here’s the header image:
If you can view that, there’s a problem with your browser. Considering you’re complaining about security, I’m guessing you’ve set it to a paranoid level and simply disabled everything, including offsite linking. With offsite linking disabled, the above URL will fail to load on buy.guildwars2.com, hence no styling.
GW1’s basic account management is handled through https://account.guildwars2.com/
If you’ve forgotten your password and your GW1 account is not registered to an actual email, you’ll have to contact support.
I am also having this problem and used the solution from the earlier post about Thailand players not being able to download that last file, but it still don’t work.
Try a VPN to get around any ISP issues. For example, try a free trial of WTFast and select a VPN server in NA, then run the game through the VPN.
Here’s an asset server you can try:
Gw2.exe -assetsrv 174.35.52.74
4. msconfig and disabled all the services (apart from windows one), that use to help in the past, but no go.
You’d also want to disable all startup programs under msconfig. Alternatively, under the boot tab, simply check safe boot an select networking under that, then OK and restart. Under safe mode, all non-core software will simply be disabled. The launcher will work, but you can’t play the game. It’s simply an easier way to test software conflicts.
But the 1 file problem seems to be an ISP/asset server issue.

The next living story, let’s say season 3, will basically be the personal story of HoT. You’ll have to buy it if you want to play season 3. Season 4, the season you would have to login to unlock, probably won’t start for 6-12 months after HoT’s release.
If you don’t own HoT, you’ll probably still be able to unlock season 4 regardless. The catch would be that you wouldn’t be able to play the episodes that lead to the locked areas within HoT. ArenaNet’s fairly nice, so assuming they stick with the login or pay approach, I doubt they’d force you to pay just because you skipped HoT.
If I press TAB to target something, I want the targeting take the vertical centerline of my screen as reference
I’ve had this complaint since I began MMOs back in the days of WoW 1.0. What I want to target is nearly always focused in the center of my screen, so make my target cycle from the center, spiraling outwards.
(the best targeting method though is supporting eye tracking)
My Gpu was NOT in the correct slot, i was under the idea that It really did not matter… I was wrong.
That’s why you should at least glance at your motherboard’s manual to identify which slot is which.
RAM can be the same way. If you’re using less sticks than slots available, look at the manual to see which slots are optimized.
What you’re seeing is the lack of CSS, which defines how the page is styled. Considering the image is also missing, it looks like you’re having trouble reaching *.digitalriver.com.
Clear your browser’s cache and flush your DNS. Optionally, try using Google’s DNS.
There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell im installing IE
fyi, uninstalling IE can result in some programs not functioning properly. Like how GW2 uses CoherentUI, some programs use IE.
Back at launch, I remember some bad reviews calling GW2 a Korean grinder. Some people were trying to level by grinding packs of mobs, because that’s what you do in every other MMO to power level.
That’s the problem with GW2. Without an obvious path, people get confused. That’s why they put in the content guide – to encourage you to explore/follow the arrow.
(no more difficult champion encounters — I’d prefer some champions in a blue moon to none at all).
There are still champions, they’re just not usually out in the open. If you explore, you’ll find them. The only champions that were removed were from the starter areas where people used to mindlessly farm them.
Scaling is instant and everyone that can basically see the event on their tracker counts towards it, regardless of if they’re alive or not. Players standing around not doing anything will also count towards scaling – an easy place to test this is the event next to Ascalonian Catacombs.
What the wiki says is from pre-release and that’s how scaling worked prior to season 1. They were forced to change it when zerg content became popular and zergs could gank bosses as they spawned and before they scaled. Originally, you only counted towards scaling if you were dealing damage within the event’s area.

probably was the earth line multi attack the first attack isnt telegraphed
You’re given like a ~2s warning. If you’ve realized the pattern, you can predict it far in advance. The entire line of falling rocks works like a progress bar. As soon as the last rock falls, the claw attacks will begin again. You’re meant to use this window to light the fire without interruption. For example.
