http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Glob_of_ectoplasm
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Karka_shell
Both are mainly used for crafting. Globs come from rare quality lvl 68+ items or high level “salvageable items”, and are used in practically all Exotic quality gear/weapons/rings/amulets.
Karka shells are now dropping like flies due to everyone at Southsun Cove, but gather 1000k of them & you can get – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ancient_Karka_Shell – handy if u have that many handy(but you can get an ascended item through laurels which would be “better” stat wise)
(edited by Hebee.8460)
1) In game total is correct.
2) Some zones were given more PoE’s/WP’s due to content additions.
3) Off the top of my head, some locations such as “Lion’s Arch”, “Diessa Platue”, “Wayfarer Foothills”, “Straits of Devastation”, “Malchor’s Leap”, and “Cursed Shore” were given these new 1s for more ease of crossing a zone or just story.
4) Dungeons do not count to Completion.
5) If there’s any time to knock out Southsun Cove, it would be now due to the amount of people there to make getting around easier.
If I was in game I’d offer more info, but I’m at work
TIP: Talk to every scout you see so they can mark every heart. Sometimes not talking to a scout & mapping out that scouts area prevents the scout from showing you the hearts. ALSO, push M after you talk to him/her, pushing ESC seems to not register the heart locations on your map.
Chauncey von Snuffles III is calling out for you!
I would think so. I planned on making weapons with nullification sigil just so all my grenades on engineer would defiantly be clearing all boons. My Mines already remove a boon on the main ability & 5 boons from toolbelt ability so I’m sure nullification works.
No you cannot. They fixed that awhile back. Since other races could not wear other races armor & ANet had not drawn race armor on different races, some would just end up running around naked.
Like Charr armor on Human would make the Human naked, while Human armor on Sylvari would be acceptable since the models are “Similar” in some cases depending on body chosen at creation.
This is all based on memory of when that happened, didn’t bother looking up the patch info specifically.
My vote is for the 1st one. I like the Asura cultural gear for light armor personally.
I’m working on my engineer look, and while we are looking at armors, I’m just curious what people think of this armor set-up? (Color subject to change)
I am liking it the more I look at it, so I will more then likely do it no matter what lol. :P
(I just wish Charr horns stuck out of all head pieces)
As long as it works with your armor theme/color, its still your “unique” view of it. No one will match your use of it.
http://dulfy.net/2013/05/14/gw2-secrets-of-southsun-achievement-guide/ Looks like dulfy got it taken care of. Great job as always!
Skill points can be used to purchase items from Miyani – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Miyani
Some items (Eldritch Scroll) are used in the Mystic Forge to make Mystic Weapons or other items (Philosopher’s Stone) are used to convert lower level crafting mats to a higher tier material.
If you feel up for leveling a new character, by all means go ahead. However, you end up using those skill points just to unlock abilities. With your main character, you have already unlocked what you want & still playing a profession your already familiar with which makes leveling faster since you can just farm any zone for exp from events; which means all new levels are free skill points you can stock pile for your purchases of whatever you feel like.
Only time you really need to level another character is when u need more “Gift’s of Exploration”
Only thing I can suggest until u get the hang of the/any dungeon:
Melee dps is last resort for lower levels.
Lowest levels I have been in, was a 14 (15 at end of dungeon)ranger, 36 guardian, and 58 guardian (along with my 80 engineer and a 80 thief). Funny thing is, the 58 died more often then anyone else. The 14/15 ranger did rather well, only died Id say 3-4 times whole run, mostly at final bosses cause it was everyone’s 1st time there.
Pretty fun run & defiantly do-able of any level, all depending on persons know-how of their profession & timing of dodges & shockwave jumping.
I’m hoping my only option to get the items would not be the TP.
I don’t mind waiting another year for more chances to grind the dungeon (worst case).
But you made me wonder though: the holiday events/skins will eventually come around again. So would ANet consider this dungeon the “May month content/dungeon” for next year? To bring it back & the items?
And I’m trying to remember other skins we will never be able to get due to temp events permanently gone. (Not including holiday events since they are expected to come back)
I couldn’t find anything about what’s going to happen to the rare items (mini-pet, jetpack, and berserker tonic recipe) once the 12th comes around. Id guess the dungeon goes away, but will there be new ways to get those rare items that some didn’t get to see drop? (Even if its different color texture of them would be fine. So people that got it when the dungeon was here, still can show they got the original.)
I really wish the dungeon (And future temp content) was done like SAB for skins, tokens for account skins & rare drops from chest to sell, seems to make “everyone” happy with that method.
Anyone want to provide a screenshot of their engineer with the jetpack? I’m curious of others “armor theme” with it on.
Im still farming that place as much as I can since I want it badly!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=FjDz_NaKVt0 Here is a video of it. Not on a engineer in the video, but just showing it (And gloves). I’m curious how much of it is covered when you throw a hobo sack on it.
I want it!It is replaced, the Jetpack is removed and the hobo sack appears. Sometimes it tends to bug and both of them are stacked, only the sharp edges remain, the reactor itself isn’t visible through the pack.
Ouch
Thanks for the info

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Godskull_Flintlock – Pistol
Those are similar in a “skull/bone” theme. Too it might depend on your race, which is?
What about the PvE dummies in LA? Haven’t some traits not worked in pvp & worked in pve, and “vice versa”?
I’m curious cause I have debated about this trait at times for farming events/spots in Orr.
Nice clear video job btw, can’t get more blunt then what u have shown
The charr racials are neat especially for engineers with the toolbelt abilitys. For awhile when you have the pop-gun rifle skin, using the toolbelt Hidden Pistols ability would actually shoot alot of pop-gun noises. It may or may not of been fixed but ill have to check when i get home from work.
The charr elites arent too bad, best of course is Charrzooka followed by Warband Support, I do not find Artillery Barage all that great due to its short range.
Damage isnt too bad for the toolbelt ability for Hidden Pistols, alot of chances to crit in a short amount of time is good if u have sigils/traits that proc off crits.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Giant
Listed on wiki are 3 killable giants. The 2 champs and the “Giant (NPC)”. It’s possible to “farm” the Giant(NPC) from the event every 8min, since more spawn with more players around for that event, tucked away in an outta-the-way area.
1-3: utilities
4: heal
5: dodge
6: elite
The 2 finger buttons: I use 1 for auto-run and other for dodge. 1 of them broke (originally dodge) so I changed it to 5.
Cant emphisize how easy it makes playing any class, especially my main engineer with kit swapping.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defeat_Karas_the_Undying
Like MLieBennett says, this event happens in Malchor’s Leap when u kneel at his alter (no boon). Located in “Theater of Delight”, its near the bridge to the west right before u cross the water. You will know the event is ready when u see the skulls that surround the alter have glowing eyes.
Correct on the Explorer stat (Power/Prec/MF) Durzlla. I’ll definatly then be hitting up the temple to get what little surviabilty I can! The runes I would use would be 5 Traveler’s and 1 of the other runes to max out MF rune wise. Your points for Greatsword make since considering if I need to be at “range” I can just use axe for its 900 range, and GS’s definsive abilitys are quite nice.
Thanks for the tip on duel axes. I’m kinda thinking this build for farming with Magic Find gear and duel axes/longbow(not sure on 2nd weapon).
I just threw this build together just minutes ago since I’m at work, & I wish I could really test it out. Some thoughts or tips would help as well!
I’m having trouble coming up with a effective/fast-killing build that uses 2 weapons in 1 set to benefit the most from 2 MF weapons. Anyone have any builds they do not mind sharing? I would greatly appriciate the help!
I currently stack my Luck sigil to 25, then use a MF axe/torch since I happen to of found those in my spare farming. I’m open for other weapon combo’s, but Id favor the axe/torch combo. (Sword is iffy due to all the jumping around)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Scavenger%27s_Chasm
Zenyatoo is correct, it is in the jumping puzzle. Here is the wiki link for it & it should help u get to the node. It will require some jumping to get to.
Iv come across the “typical” running around the same path over & over, blowing their elites when nothing is around or using heals when at full health. But those have been showing up less & less.
The teleporting bots have become a challenge that I have perty much figured out how to catch. They zone into a area from an entrance of another area, their character will be parked there for awhile & do the same thing: Teleport to node, teleport back to entry, teleport to node, teleport back to entry, node, entry, node, etc etc. The ONLY time they leave is when they have cleaned out the area & then port across entire areas to the next area they have not farmed up. Parking at that area entry & continuing the same pattern.
I am able to at times catch them when they teleport back to entry’s, clicking the same spot they port from & hitting them before i even see them, giving me enough time to report. But there are times I just resort to screenshotting, friending, whispering “hows the botting going?” wait a couple seconds then report. I enjoy catching these teleporting bots & I got plenty of screens to support my findings
EDIT: Also if a teleporting bot dies, they pick waypoints & teleport from there, so glance at those as well for a lil bit if you see someone standing there for a split second. Binding your scrrenshot key to an easy access key is highly recommended.

Very interesting on how this works. I never thought it made “That Much” of a difference in loot. Has there been further testing in this “grouping = more or better loot” mechanic?
Seems like I could (as my engineer) throw 1-2 grenades, taping enough mobs & just sit back & let the group kill for my loot, possibly letting my group give me rares/exotics?
(I do not sit back though since I frown on the “half-butt/lazy” behavior of things. Makes the fight last longer then it should anyways.)
EDIT: For the influence question, it reads like a group of 2 at minimum for an event will get 20 influence, not including infulence boosts. /shrug
(edited by Hebee.8460)
The timer on the web site looks to keep resetting every hour, but really I think it should be every 2hr. Anet must of decided it was too frequent cause I remember it coming up much more often then it did last night for myself.
I have been running around Orr & any large chest event, hitting as many as I can. One thing I noticed is the amount of people standing around said event saying “LFG for event” , “Looking to join a group” or “Any groups have an open spot?”. Is there some “hidden/not well known” benefit to grouping up?
Im always grouped with my girlfriend, and loot hasnt been any different then when I’m solo late at night. I know I dont get loot when she kills a mob I do not tap. Otherwise the only benefit I see myself with it is seeing where everyone is going, and staying together hoping events. Is it maybe boons take priorty of party members before other players?
10 points into Tools, get the trait “Speedy Kit”, get a kit you like and anytime u equip it, u get swiftness.
http://dulfy.net/2013/02/26/gw2-lost-and-found-living-story-event-and-achievement-guide/ I refer to dulfy alot. It has more then just the locations of the goblet & toy soilder ur looking for. Definatly worth bookmarking.
Did they buff his chest? Inquest Resources? http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Inquest_Resources
It doesnt read on wiki that it got a buff, but I’m not home to loot the chest myself.
(And maybe no one has updated wiki if it was buffed)
Id consider Megadestroyer more of a “World Boss” because of the amount of work you have to put in to get his chest. But its a great Meta-Event too.
Im sorry but in my opinion this ’’guesting’’ idea is garbage anyway..
Think about it a moment.
As far as i understand {and please correct me if im wrong} guesting is player A {me} going to a different server to play with player B { a friend } correct ?
Well if thats right, and i as player A want to play with my friends player B………. then WHY AM I NOT ON THE SAME BLOOMING SERVER AS MY FRIEND IN THE FIRST PLACE.
since as i understand it too. only north american servers can guest with north american servers.. and only euro servers can guest with other euro servers.. correct too ?
the whole idea ’’guesting’’ is fluff…. nothing more than that. and if you want to play with a friend… go get on a server together permanently.
And don’t make the excuse of ‘’oh it costs money to transfer servers’’ it was free for 6 months.
Anyway rant over apart from saying……….. ’’GET OFF MY LAWN YOU PESKY KIDS.! :P
Considering u can buy a transfer with ingame gold, it kinda makes guesting pointless.
I’m up for tossing guesting.
As much as I want ascended gear, I will have to disagree with this. If u get 30 Laurels for just hitting 80, alts would be leveled through crafting in just under 4hrs for those that are just sitting on gold stacks – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXescRln7aI
You could make an a toon, craft to 80, 30 laurels, delete toon, make another, craft to 80, 30 laurels, etc. etc.
But I do get ur point, as I’m working on my ascended gear too.
I disagree sorry, allowing guilds to transfer upgrades would just make it even easier for the weak sauce wvw transfer guilds.
U mean the guilds that hop servers cause the server they are on are currently losing, but want to be on the “Winning” side?
There is a chest in that cave too if u can defend her long enough. It’s off to the side past a platform in a small cave. I think that chest is the only purpose of it, as my GF & I have done it multiple times, filling up the crystal bar well past the limit & it still trips the alarms. But after u kill the vets, run to the chest ASAP & then run out before u get flopped on by destroyer trolls lol
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Explorable_zone
Theres a total of four 15-25 zones to explore. One 25-35 and one 25-40 zone as well.
Otherwise, doing the starter zones will be needed for world complete. Going back to a starter zone with more skills/traits makes the zone go by much faster then if you were truely at starter level (1-15).
I host my small guild’s mumble(murmur) server, & I get lag in orr areas. Would the amount of lag in game from too many people/big events, lag my mumble server?
Cause its lagin hard since the big patch of guesting & better loot chests, when it never did before.
I tried changing the port to 80 like it says in that reddit link & I didnt see much difference. However, I did end up making my computer on a “Static IP” & that fixed everything! I still get ability lag on big dragons/world events, but nothing that auto-attack cant get me gold for credit though, so it works!
(Guests to Full servers is really screwing it up for everyone)Can you pls write little guide how to make it? I am not very sure and I am noob at these things and little help would really help me. Thanks
I’m kinda noobish too with this kinda thing, so hopefully someone can chime in on this but here goes!
I went into my internet providers gateway (Comcast) that provides cable & wireless internet using the “Wireless Quick Manuel” that came with it. It said to get in the gateway, I had to type into my web browser “Https://” followed by the gateways IP address (all together, no spaces or .com). I was then able to login, find my computer through the “Connected Devices” tab. I selected my computer and it had 2 options, one was “Static IP”, the other was something with a “D”. I hit save, closed it out, restarted my computer and logged back into GW2. (I’m at work so I dont have the manual in front of me)
I hope this helps Aern, or gives you some direction of where to look to take care of ur lag. Good luck!
Keeping it per character would benefit all of us players. Some might not have alts now, but when you do get alts later down the line, you will be able to switch whenever you would like to get as many chests as u can manage to get more rares/exotics/chances at a pre-curser. Keeping it per character works for the player as it provides more bodies to get an event moving & completed, primarely the temple events. If majority of players complete an event, the minority will be left with trying to find ANYONE to come help complete said event (convincing others who already did their part for chest prolly wont feel any reward out of helping, sadly), making it much more of a hassle for the minority.
The issue like all have said is guesting itself. It definatly needs to be finely tuned on how it works. Possible ways of takeing care of it:
1 – Cap out servers to not allow guesting. If its already full, its ineligible for guesting on. (Only way to get on server would be friend invite)
2 – Players that have made “Home” to that server, have priority over guesters. Guesters will be put into overflow before a “Home” player is put into it.
I think making it account bound does not benifit us at all, and is a step in the wrong direction. Tweaking the guesting system is a benefit for all types of players, casual or not, and im casual.
(When selecting a server to guest, a lower population should always be favored anyways to avoid ability lag)

I really noticed this yesterday. I use Elixir with grenades on land & it would not give quickness or the negative effect. I would have to play with it more & really pay attention but it happened enough to make me angry. lol
Didn’t they just fix his loot with a build today?
At work today so haven’t read/seen the patch note. Hopefully they fixed it cause its a really fun event.
Ha I’m at work as well & he is really fun to fight. I’m hopeing for better loot as well. The patch itself says:
“Fixed a bug with the chests that spawn for The Claw of Jormag, The Fire Elemental, and the Volcano Destroyer Boss. They are lootable once a day per character as intended.”
Perty much what Pope said, but I was just thinking when I read it “Why would they spend the time to make the chest one day lootable…unless?!”
Wishful thinking :P

I would like to suggest that server transfers also effect guild upgrades as well if you are the guild leader.
When the guild leader selects the server he/she wishes to transfer the guild to, swap out server guild upgrades/influence between the two?
I do not know the technicallity of this kind of swap on ANet’s side, but seeing as how it is so much later into the game then when this was asked for long ago, & how so many guilds have had the oppurtunity to build up upgrades, I feel allowing the upgrades to go as well could help spread the population much more evenly.
My small guild on TC has built up quite alot of upgrades, but due to amount of people that are now showing up(The server itself was always full but guesting has made it perty close to unbearable), the PvE aspect of world events have lost their feel due to finishing in 5seconds-2min. I would love to transfer the guild to a medium/low population server, but the amount of upgrades we would lose just does not really give an option.
TDLR – Please implement guild upgrade transfers through the guild leader when changing worlds.

Dwayna was bugged on TC last night. I have not been on since then due to being at work. Can anyone confirm its still bugged?
I don’t RP myself, but when out exploring (My home server is TC), I have come across plenty of charr RP guilds. Those seem perty neat. Mainly done like recruits/scouting/military theme RP so its definatly different then the “town/human” RP.
I do think the guesting has ruined alot of things (world events in particular, Maw Event done in 5 seconds…ya) & its sad to see people making fun of/trolling RP’rs.
A couple questions from that tip thing, what is a Black Lion Key?
What is a ? quest?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Black_Lion_Key
Black Lion Keys are used on the Black Lion Chest which has a chance to give you items ud buy from the gem store plus other items.
The closest thing to a “Quest” id say is your Personal Story which is always indicated by a green swirl/star for where to go. (Swirl indicating entry to another zone to next step. Star being the location to start ur next step of ur story)
Something I really love is the ingame command “/wiki”. Just type that, add a space then whatever you want to know about & it will pull up ur browser window in the GW2 wiki with any information it has on what ur looking for. EX: /wiki Charr – pulls up THIS wiki page
Welcome to Guild Wars & hope you enjoy the ride!
EDIT – After finding the “?Quest?” part you were talking about, that person is refering to the “Hearts” located around the world, they sell armor/weapons/crafting mats/etc. that can be bought with karma. Sorry about that :P
