It takes 6570 tickets to buy the items, and another 1310 to buy the lower tier armor.
7880 / 365 = 22 weeks of wvw.
By comparison, it requires 150 legendary insights for raid armor, at a max of 13 per week, or 12 weeks of raids.
So it takes twice as long to obtain wvw legendary armor as raid armor.
This was much needed. I was seriously getting burned out getting enough pips to get through Diamond each week.
Same.
It also means you don’t have to feverishly grind to the end of a track either, you can stop mid way without much penalty.
I’ve played around with it, it’s a giant nerf. Almost not worth taking soul reaping at this point.
The Epic Elder Dragon mounts? In wvw they can summon hundreds of golems.
It’s true, Mordremoth revealed it to me in The Dream.
The meta will change with today’s balance patch and then again with PoF.
It’s common as a roamer to:
- flip sentries, camps, and even towers if you’re good enough
- defeat enemy roamers
- +1 other people’s fights
- contest enemy keeps with waypoints
- scout enemy troop movements and report them in map chat
- watch for ojs on the map and report in map chat
We’ll know in 14 1/2 hours.
People who go to maps to gather don’t participate in the maps. You end up with lots of bodies but no more event participation; possibly less since the maps fills and people actually interested in doing things on the map can’t get in.
I don’t know how you play, but if there’s an event where I am or where I’m going I participate, because the loot is just as good as at level 80. This is doubly true if I see a poor newbie struggling to kill that vet.
Still begging for Seeker from PvP to show up in PvE.
Menders would be nice.
I play power necro in wvw a lot, and I find having about equal amounts of vitality and toughness to be the way to take the most power based hits. If conditions concern you, swapping some toughness to vitality will leave you more vulnerable to power based damage, but less so to conditions.
The new barrier mechanic scales of vitality.
vitality only determines max barrier based on the recipients max health, the amount of barrier granted is based on healing power of the skill user
The scourge is a recipient.
yes but scourge skill put barrier on others as well, so if I grant YOU barrier YOUR max barrier will be 50% of YOUR health which is increased by YOUR vitality MY healing power determines how much of YOUR barrier is filled.
It sounds like you’re agreeing with my point.
Dessa’s actions seem to just be creating and messing with little islands of existence within the Mists. The Mists incorporates the entire multiverse, and the gods went somewhere humans of Tyria cannot reach.
It seems unlikely that her actions caused Balthazar to become so severely weakened he’d go on a war rampage to regain his strength.
This.
And if it WAS dessa’s fault, then wouldn’t Balthazaar take his frustrations out on Lions Arch? World conquest is hardly an effective way to destroy a single city.
Rytlock knows why. He saw the damage Dessa is doing.
Balthazar is a drama queen, he knows both Zhaitan and Mordremoth have destroyed Lion’s Arch and wants to do something different, like destroy all of Tyria.
Dessa’s meddling with the Mists have triggered his rage. The events of the Urban Battlefield fractal wouldn’t have happened if Balthazar had done something about Abaddon sooner. Dessa’s manipulation of the Mists have forced Balthazar into reliving his mistakes! There’s a reason it’s the 1st fractal!
The work of these Inquest first triggered a war with Mordremoth after their horrible experiments on Sylvari, and now they’ve done it again with Balthazar! This is like Thaumanova times 1000!
The Inquest, and their Grandmaster Dessa, are the true villains of GW2.
In PoF, warriors will be able to boon strip 20 at a time. So that’s a thing.
Yeah, it’s a different take on what life force actually means. It’s closer to adrenaline or number of clones for scourge, except it shouldn’t decay out of combat.
What the OP is describing is exactly the type of game Anet set out to make. So in that sense they accomplished their goal.

The scourge is a recipient.
It scales by amount on vitality, and potency on healing power. So it uses both. Throwing healing power onto base necro or reaper before has been a waste of stats before. This might actually open up some celestial builds.
.no gap closers.
I don’t see how this is overly an issue.
Reaper had one gap closer, and base necro you could call it one-half of one because of how finicky it is; both with shroud 2. So if you needed to close a gap, you almost never could as necro before.

Both base necro and reaper will retain shroud. Scourge still uses the life force mechanic.
You will have 3 methods by which you can use your life force: Death Shroud, Reaper Shroud, or Sand Shroud. So really you’re gaining a new way to play.
I was playing the new Shattered Observatory fractal and came to a realization:
- Each new fractal, Dessa seems to be screwing up more and more with the Mists
- Balthazar recently returned from the Mists
It doesn’t seem like that much of a leap to blame Dessa’s reckless research into the Mists as the cause of all the destruction in the Crystal Desert.
Sorry, I misspoke, I should have said, “the next patch with fractal and sanctuary updates”. It is coming very soon, apologies.
Is this also the patch that will give the sanctuary the ability to put us back to where we started/used the pass?
Yes.
Can we get the same QoL on the other passes?
At this point, no. It is actually not possible to do this in lounges that are in open world maps because of how we export character position on map transition.
You should be able to do it for Noble’s Folly though, right? Since it’s an instance, not open world?
There are waypoint redirects, like when you try to waypoint to a contested waypoint. An extra variable should allow some sort of redirect to selected waypoint after they leave the map, instead of doing it on map leave if that’s the issue.
It seems like the technology is mostly there.
There’s a lot of support possible. All this torment and cripple follow’s reaper’s concept of preventing enemy movement. Should be interesting in wvw.
One of those utilities reads like a modified portal.
Ye as much as i loved dungeons, i got nothing against fractals actually i really like them, but when i returned to gw2(stopped playing about month after hot realese) and saw that only 3 fractals were added in nearly 2 YEARS, that was really sad. And now with new expansion coming there is probably no new fractals at launch. If they gonna add new fractal every 2 months with ls update im cool with it, but i got this feeling thats not gonna be the case. But i hope im wrong and we will see much more fractals…
There was also a substantial effort cleaning up and revamping existing fractals for quality of life. Other than uncategorized, urban battleground and molten boss, every fractal has seen either a QoL rework or total revamp.
Those are done now, allowing them to focus more time on new fractals.
Sorry, I misspoke, I should have said, “the next patch with fractal and sanctuary updates”. It is coming very soon, apologies.
Is this also the patch that will give the sanctuary the ability to put us back to where we started/used the pass?
Yes.
But will we be able to see the map and choose whatever waypoint we want? because put us back to where we used the pass it doesn’t really solve the problem… I don’t wanna have an extra loading screen
If I wanna go to do meta events, go to HoT maps, Living Story or going to whatever maps for stuff for my collections I will need 2 loading screens or 3 in case I need to join an instance :/
I just wanna go directly to the place I need.
You will be able to open the map, tab down a floor, zoom out, and select tyria waypoints.
This is actually an amazing fix thanks. Any word for the fractal gate btw? I cant w8 to never go outside of mistlock sancuary ever again.
It’s coming at the same time. For me with fractals, wvw, and the mistlock sanctuary I’ll never need to leave the mists. Why would anyone want to? Balthazar has his priorities mixed up.
It would be cool to explore the connection between the wvw mist war and fractals in a fractal at some point. Start at a supply camp and flip a keep. The desert Borderlands lords could make an appearance.
While we talking about it, Can we balance Condition mesmer and Acro-thief? And why isn’t adrenaline gain on warrior Baseline when getting hit? You should gain adrenaline when getting hit.
The last thing warrior needs is another buff. It’s already beyond broken in wvw 1v1s.
What will be the new effective condition duration on giver’s weapons?
Is there any plan to make ascended giver’s stats available? All my condition builds use exotic giver’s weapons because ascended is unavailable.
Tyria is a big place, enemy densities are going to vary from place to place. Why do you want a uniform world?
It really sucks that I wont have my current spec to just use if I dislike scourge.
And by wont have I mean that while I could spec it and equip the stuff, itll be even more useless than it currently is.
Far as I know nobody else is having their current spec options gutted?
I play base power necro, so if they’re buffing core power specs I’m going to be made in the shade. The revealed on shroud 5 and axe buffs have made a world of difference for me in wvw. The only class I fear is warrior, since you can’t actually damage one as a necro. Or a ranger. Or a guardian. Or…
A lot of the newer areas of GW2 look better than older areas. The developers got more experienced at building within the engine. It’s how consoles used to work, where game developers for say the SNES learned all sorts of tricks to get as much as they could out of the hardware, with fascinating accomplishments.
Throwing more resources at something instead of getting better at optimization doesn’t really help anyone, except hardware manufacturers.
Early on I might’ve agreed with you, but with LW3 and the recent insights added to central tyria, it has never been easier to max out on mastery points.
Proofs of heroics can be used to buy all the HoT PvE stuff
One-up-one-down replacing glicko for matchmaking (glicko might still affect which color you end up as?)
Various balance patches of mixed results
Split of balance between pve, spvp, and wvw, skills and traits can now be targeted at wvw.
LW3 happened and the final chest from the rewards tracks can be used to purchase selectable-stat ascended trinkets
Desert borderland reworked to be more free-flowing
Various scoring changes
Yak deliveries control upgrades on objectives instead of a timer or money
Queues are now visible from the map you’re on
Marginally improved though underutilized LFG upgrade (it’s now more obvious it exists, to pick up pugs)
Squad participation can be shared with scouts
WvW Laurel vendor gained certain goods that were missing
5 minute PPT down from 15
Open field cannons trialed and unceremoniously removed
Repair hammers trialed and downvoted by the community
When you lay it all out, a lot has been added to wvw in the past year, despite constant complaints that it hasn’t. Whether individual changes are good are bad are another subject.
I still play base necro, mesmer, and guardian in wvw. I do play druid and daredevil, though. So it’s mix and match.
I could see for some classes being able to pick from core or either specialization and not being wrong, just filling different roles.
I too am curious how this will work, especially since wvw players can max out the HoT specializations from wvw without having to go to the heart of maguuma.
Ultimate is the best offer IMO. 4000 gems for $20 is pretty great.
Except there’s nothing in the deluxe for me. If I were at a different point in my GW2 career the deluxe would be nice, but there’s nothing useful in there for players who have been around a while.
They have no more excuses to not balance the necros correctly now that we’re shroud-less.
Except base necro and reaper will still exist. Just because a new specialization exists doesn’t mean it’s required to play.
Sorry, I misspoke, I should have said, “the next patch with fractal and sanctuary updates”. It is coming very soon, apologies.
Knowing it’s coming is great, no worries.
As someone who is maxed on luck, some sink would be nice, and this one wouldn’t negativity affect other markets.
Right now my only luck sink is lunar new year converting to red lanterns, which is calender locked around the event.
Nobody ever has to craft it if they don’t want to.
A southsun cove rewards track would be a cool addition regardless. There’s a fair amount of unique loot to that map.
I’d really like a repeatable silverwastes track. There’s basically a dry top one (maguuma wastes), one general HoT, and each LW3 map has a repeatable track.
Dungeon tracks including mystic clovers might be nice too.
Heart Quests are a big reason why I don’t think I could suffer through world competition a second time. Some of them are neat and many tell a story, but when there’s over a dozen per map and dozens of maps, it quickly becomes a slog.
Have Hobbes sell some item for karma or unbound magic, like Essence of Aurora, that can be turned into an infusion like recently happened with other aura-based things.
If you join a fractal party on LFG, you can’t join them in the fractal from this fractal themed map. You have to port to Lion’s Arch and then join the fractal. Using the fractal gate puts you in your own different instance.
So I purchased a Mistlock Sanctuary Passkey thinking it would make my life easier, but if I join a group on LFG I can’t actually join them in the fractal from Mistlock Sanctuary. I have to go to Lion’s Arch anyway, because using the portal doesn’t get me in the same instance. It kind of defeats a fractal-centric exclusive area.
Fairly disappointed the entire reason I purchased the pass, to avoid going to Lion’s Arch to access fractals, isn’t fully functional.
For wvw, axe/x and staff is common. Off hand can be personal preference. Staff can become unblockable with marks, which invaluable in team fights and still fairly useful roaming.
Dagger main and greatsword will just cause people to kite you. If you’re already going reaper, reaper shroud is melee and has your only leap. There’s no way to make up ground otherwise.
While we’re at it, can we exchange 5 stats/9 agony resistance infusions for different stats?
The same with the wvw infusions, I have a bunch of toughness wvw infusions from when you could only put defensive/offensive infusions in certain pieces of gear that I’d like to exchange.
Eotm can’t be roamed, what’s the fun in being there? I went a couple of times for achievements and it’s just a tedious place to be. It’s like wvw for people who don’t like wvw.
The ones around SMC? I’ve never seen anyone rally on one, I try to avoid them because they’re a pain in the kitten but I don’t mind them being there for ambience.
SoS has had outnumbered on our own BL most of the night and this explains it, people are afraid of being mauled by minions.
As little use as I find in the tomes now, at one point in my gw2 career they were invaluable. Exp was removed from wvw and the tomes added because people were playing as low level toons to level and being what is known as a “rally bot.”
Adding a vendor that exchanges tomes for something else, like siege, would be nice, though.
