I had several instances over the weekend where people already on the map had outnumbered. They still had it after the tick, but newer people on the map did not receive it when the next tick happened.

In one case, I stayed on the map for several ticks. People who were there when the map went outnumbered had the buff, people who came in later never saw it, even though they were there for the start of the tick.

Based on that testing, the buff is bugged.

I’ve had this same experience. There is also no indication that a map is eligible for outnumbered except being on the map at the tick and either receiving it or not.

I like the changes to how outnumbered works, however there doesn’t seem to be an indication that a map will be eligible for it when you first go to a map.

It would help deciding which map to play if there was some way to know the map is eligible for outnumbered before the tick.

Warriors Wicked OP for Necros in PvP?

Warriors are declawed kittens in spvp, however they are beyond broken in wvw. Several times a week I see one fighting 1v3 ir 1v4 to a stalemate. Boon stripping, condi, power, it does not matter for warriors will not be downed.

I like unholy sanctuary because I wvw a lot and it keeps me alive through unforseen nukes.

The genuine lack of non trait life stealing in shroud is regrettable, though. I’d like to be able to use sigil of blood and leeching in shroud.

My worst experience is that it can take an hour to organize a group, and most pugs take this hour. So I stopped after about a dozen boss kills because I can finish T4 fractals in less time than organizing a single raid.

Which is a shame, because some of the bosses are fun.

I know that the plural of anecdote is not data, but I have seen an uptick in lower ranked people while I have been roaming. There’s a fair number of unranked and bronze level enemies. Either they:

  • are playing for the rewards, or more likely they
  • started playing because of the changes and decided they liked it

Unless you’re told about it or actively seek it out, it’s hard to accidentally end up in wvw. The update and the advertising around it are nothing but good things for the long term health of the game mode.

Wvw and spvp rewards tracks give either 50 or 100 of a currency upon completion. Either mode a track can be completed in less than two weeks of only doing dailies. Plus you get all sorts of other loot.

I agree with those saying yak defense needs to be rewarding, at least in participation. Caravans are a fundamental part of today’s wvw.

  • Yaks deliver supply to objectives
  • A lot of Yaks are required to upgrade objectives
  • Killing an enemy Yak scores points
  • A vanishing Yak icon on the map can reveal enemy locations

All together this makes yak defense a really big deal that most people don’t appreciate.

Cashing out has a lot of issues. For example, we would somehow need to make cashing out be exactly as good as the rewards you would get if you were still playing. If it does not give as good of rewards no one would do it and still afk, and if we make it too good then everyone would just constantly cash out. It is impossible to predict all the rewards someone would be expected to earn because we cannot predict if a map will become outnumbered or if your world moves placements. We also wouldn’t want people to constantly cash out so then we would need to accurately lock them out of WvW for a set period of time. The period of time would probably need to be longer than just the amount of time it would take to decay because otherwise it could still be more ideal to play a little, cash out go back, repeat. We have considered it, we just don’t believe it is a viable option.

There’s an obvious answer to the problem of people cashing out multiple times to gain more than they’d otherwise get.

Either prevent them from returning to WvW, or prevent any participation gain, until an appropriate time limit is reached.

For example, it’s decided that cashing out grants 3 ticks worth of pips and reward track gain. That’d be 15 minutes of gain. When someone cashes out, their participation is zero’ed out, and for the next 20 minutes, they cannot gain any participation. That would need to be 20 minutes of real world time, account wide.

That’s not exploitable in the slightest, and gives people a reason to cash out and drop out of the map rather than AFKing in the spawn or safe areas. After the 20 minutes is up, they can return then start rebuilding their participation from scratch, that makes it worse to try to use it to gain more than is intended, while still giving the option to be useful to people who genuinely want to cash out for the day and don’t want to AFK.

I bolded a section. There already is a built in mechanic in game that prevents participation gain. When you have squad participation and the squad is idle, you get no participation and nothing you can do grants participation. This could be modified.

In terms of cashing out, just cash out at the lowest possible level:

  • No outnumbered
  • 3rd Place

Regardless of server position or map condition. It’s not optimal, but it’s a choice you’re making. You’re done and can go play another game mode or turn off the game.

I just spent 2 hours roaming and did not experience decay once, with a combination of flipping sentries, camps, defending camps, and stomping enemy players. A couple tower captures and two failed attacks on a keep as well, but no decay to be seen.

Many exotic trinkets are available in the trading post for under two gold. Level 400 jeweler crafting takes 30-35 gold and can craft trinkets for any stats.

I’m all for experimenting with underdeveloped weapons. We’ve gotten 3-4 axe buffs in the past few months, making it a functional weapon in both pvp and wvw.

I still can’t see ever using dagger, but if they take the axe route of slowly buffing it until people actually use it, that’s a good thing.

If it gave stability for example.

I would take a screenshot and submit to Anet, so they can handle it. That’s messed up.

I used the in game report button for what that’s worth.

The only real problem with outnumbered is that it is disincentives play during peak hours, since it is more rewarding to play when your server’s coverage is low.

Unless the hero point requirements are an order of magnitude higher, the central tyria and HoT points already exist to max it out. Central tyria has either enough, or almost enough hero points to max out HoT.

Step 1: nerf berserker’s utter contempt for being downed
Step 2: remove one or two of the pips awarded for outnumbered and add those pips to the placement pip award
Step 3: you’re done, drink a beer

In some situations, stomping a downed player (using a finisher) is faster than outright killing them. In wvw, if your server has bloodlust, you can get an extra ppk for stomping vs. killing.

It can also finish off a downed player while someone is reviving them, when you may not otherwise be able to kill with damage.

Fractal avengers try to stomp players in pve.

The big thing that comes to my mind is changing it to still be rewarding without encouraging people to game it like they are now.

A simple solution is to reduce the pips from 5 to 3, and add 2 pips to each of the score placement. The absolute number of pips is the same, but you’re not “penalized” for playing a popular map.

Having it at 5 doubles the number of pips for almost all players.

A few minutes ago I queued 5 of the wvw decorations I had, but I had not updated to the new build. I updated to the build and they are not in the guild hall inventory or my personal inventory, but have gone missing.

Relax, once the initial hype dies down WvW will return to what it was before the patch. Rewards got buffed but not crazy enough to keep the PvE players interested for very long.

This. All maps were queued in T4 last night, but not so much so people couldn’t get in. That’s day 1 of new content. Day 14 will be a better test.

Spvp stuff this month will draw people’s attention there.

Not so much that people couldnt get into borders? How about over 2 hours queue on the only game mode people wanna play and only have those 2 hours a day tp play?

In T4, for my server, there was never a queue that prevented people from getting onto some map last night. Typically this was green Borderlands because they were too much on the offensive last night to attack them. While there were queues in the 30s for the other maps, it fluctuated. If you want to play wvw you could.

In a week, this will translate to other servers.

Yesterday I saw a kitten tag killing moskitos!!! WTF!!!!

This will be like the first season of PVP, when all the pve peasants started to grind the tracks…

No offense, but pve players can ruin the experience… they did on pvp and they might do it in wvw….

WvW has far better natural selection than spvp. In spvp you’re stuck with four people with clear objectives. In wvw, it’s more sandboxy. Spvp one player can tank a match, in wvw ten players make a negligible difference.

People doing dumb things will get murdered, I killed a couple of them yesterday in seconds. This will frustrate them to either get better or leave.

I tagged up yesterday and couldn’t get the pugs to follow simple instructions like stay on tag, which led to wipes. We did dump valuable towers and menace keeps in EBG, but a little instruction following could have taken the keeps.

Wvw has a 10 minute afk timer. More people were loitering around the new NPC checking it out than are truly afk. It’ll clear out in a few days when people better understand the loot they can get.

You need to unlock the Triumphant armour box through the reward track, then choose the item you want, you can then start working towards the T2 set, im not sure what mats you need after unlocking that you can work towards the T3 armour which requires a wvw rank of 2000

For condi necro. You should be getting above 30k on a golem with realistic buffs. My last benchmark as a condi necro, I was at 32k, without infusions.

Check out http://qtfy.eu/builds/ for the build and rotation.

With that said, condi necro dps is highly reliant on being able to hit chill fields. You will do significantly less dps if you are not doing your whirl finishers inside of ice fields, no extra dps if you do a whirl finisher in a static, water, or light field. Because of this, your dps in an actual raid environment will tank (not counting for mechanics that have to be dealt with as well).

My gear 95% matches that, but I’m missing the greatsword chunk of the rotation. I think I need to practice my rotation in general a little more, but it still seems like a large difference.

With the advent of legendary armor I was considering getting into raids. I had done a few before, but cheaped out and got wvw rampager’s armor. After hearing the merits of Viper’s for months despite having done the math that says its no better, I figured others knew more than I did and got a set.

After whacking on the golem with the max buffs I am hitting 12-13k with ascended Viper’s, but I was hitting around the same with exotic rampager’s. (My power wvw build was hitting 5-6k, so that’s enlightening…)

For both I was hitting 100% bleed duration with rune/sigil selection.

Am I missing something? What should I be hitting for DPS in raids?

They’re continuously killing off the roaming/tagless population, and for what reason, I really can’t understand why. There’s always different ways people enjoyed WvW, either with a big group, small and more private groups with friends, and then there’s roamers. But apparently, unless you join the zerg train, rewards aren’t for you…

Sorry, neven. The cynicism wasn’t towards your response, just my overall attitude towards WvW atm.

I don’t think that’s true. The caravan-for-upgrade system gives a lot of incentive for small groups to flip camps and kill caravans. It also puts incentive into attacking towers, especially if they’re either about to upgrade from yaks, or about to hit the claimed time required to queue up a watchtower.

Smaller havoc groups are very important right now, as are lone roamers.

Two things;

If someone transferred today, when would they be eligible to start earning rewards when the new system goes live?

I have no idea what you are talking about with tiers of armor. Can someone explain (even take a guess) about the details of what that’s about?

You would not be eligible to earn pips until the 9th if you transferred today.

The Armor Tiers are:
Tier 1 – Triumphant armor
Tier 2 – Triumphant Hero’s armor
Tier 3 – Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s armor

Weapons:
Tier 1: Hero’s weapons
Tier 2: Mistforged Hero’s weapons

I can now put LW3 tokens in the materials bank. This was my single biggest complaint from each episode and now is resolved. Best update that could have happened short of having a “keyring” for all those other tokens clogging up my inventory.

A+ rating based on tokens in the materials bank alone. The mechanics of the final fight were cool too (gliding up!)
