For anyone who remembers the old days of [RET] we will be back in full force soon. Give it a week or 2, and you will be running for the hills (or maybe bay, or garrison) :P

Meanwhile, heres a video of me dueling Nightlight from [CERN] lol All for fun and games, since after lots of ZvZ fights we were too outnumbered and decided to duel for fun.

I heard about this. xD This has been such a fun, low stress week. We love Nightlight. He’s a great commander and a great person on top of it.

Ranger Vs Warrior : Ranger always wins (unless they suck). Rangers are bloody amazing at 1v1.

Have coin and badges automatically go to your inventory. All the other items that drop is vendor trash anyways. If people want the items in the bags for salvage, they can spam F and get them.

That’s a horrible plan. 75% of the coinage you make in WvW is from vendoring that “vendor trash.” People want their loot. Not part of their loot.

Right now, people get “part” of their loot, and that’s what everyone is upset about.

How about that vendor trash stops dropping altogether then? Will that make your frown turn upside down?

As long as they compensate for it by raising other rewards, like giving you the cash value of that vendor trash instead of the bag.

Yeah, it’s really annoying to not have a way to dual-talent-spec. Having to go respec completely so I can get in my “roaming” build vs my “zerging” build is just…stupid. I wanna be able to switch back and forth…

I don’t give a rip that it costs money. I just hate the fact that you have to do it this way in the first place.

on a random note…I was on youtube watching something else when a gw2 video popped up that was a tutorial for dagger/dagger thieves…it was 55 minutes long. I didn’t know it took 55 minutes to teach mashing ur face on your keyboard.

I legitimately laughed out loud at this.

Thinking of D/D….dat fight north of SM tonight. We had 6-7 D/D eles holding off about 20-25 SoS.

D/D eles OP! I love it. xD Granted, they’re like the inverse of the face-smashing thieves. You try to face→keyboard a D/D ele and it usually doesn’t end well for you. I’m new to D/D ele and it took several hours before I really started feeling comfortable with all the atunement changes, combos, knowing when to do what, etc.

Outmanned buff broken?

Armor damage happens anytime you take damage. So, if you’re getting beat up a bit, you’ll see some wear and tear.

The outmanned buff removes armor damage on death. When you die, a random piece of armor is automatically damaged (instead of incrementally like being hit does). This drastically reduces repair costs, though some will still be incurred.

Armor damage ONLY happens on death in GW2. In other games (WoW) simply engaging in combat would damage your armor. In GW2, this is not the case. Combat in general does not damage your armor.

If the OP is correct, then the outmanned buff is not preventing damage when dying. However, it’s possible that the map is riding the line between outmanned and not. A single player coming and going can cause this. Chances are they weren’t outmanned for a moment.

As an aside:

ANet really botched the way Ascended gear works & is earned.

You can run lvl 10 fractals for 10 days and buy any ring you want with the daily pristine relics. In 20 days you can have TWO. You’ll also earn 6+ random rings from the daily chests (1 in 3 chance for a daily ring) in those 20 days, and may end up getting the ring you want early anyway. Lvl 10 fractals are brainlessly easy with a semi-competent group.

Or…you can do dailies for an entire month to get ONE ring….then do it all over again for the second one.

On top of that, you’ll get a vial of mist essence every day or two in fractals, and you can use it to craft an ascended backpiece in the mystic forge.

All three of your problems solved in 20 days (or less) instead of this horribly broken daily system they have in place.

You’re not the only one who has made this mistake… There are only a couple unique items in the entire game, and ANet did not make it overtly clear that rings were one of them. It’s a horribly broken way of doing things. AFAIK, the ONLY unique things in the entire game are the ascended rings and accessories. Why they did this is utterly beyond me.

Even worse, if you have one regular, and one upgraded/infused ring of the same type, you can equip them both. It’s completely nonsensical. If you happen to have a whole load of vials/globs/shards from the fractals, you could just upgrade the extra ring. It’s probably take you less time to farm out the stuff than it would to save up for another ring.

Stealth Trap

IMHO, the best use of a stealth trap is when a thief (1 or more) are harassing your small roaming group. You can just have a member of the group drop the trap when they start picking on you, then get to smashing.

It is impressive. I have seen our newer wvwers play with full berserkers. From my experience, that never works with organized guild groups , but hey what am I to tell them how to play the game!

It’s interesting you mention this. We’ve encountered quite a few very squishy SoS and have had conversations wondering why they’re wearing zerker gear in WvW….

Someone needs to educate them a bit… If nothing else, Knights gear is a minor decrease in damage, and a good increase in survivability….

Follows the same principles and they even have someone who monitors the game’s economy.

It doesn’t matter… They have absolute control to set recipes for things. They set them up stupidly originally. The current need exceeds the possible income. They need to increase the drops, or alter the recipes. The entire principal of our “real” economy would fly out the window if we could pick up any three objects around and decide that they should be able to “become” anything we want.

“Oh look. A rubber band, pocket lint, Tylenol. I’ll just mix them up…and voila! Airliner!”

This game is about FUN. Realism sucks, which is why when you die you don’t lay there on the ground bleeding out for 14 hours. Saying “it’s like real life!” means absolutely NOTHING here.

It’s just ridiculous that 10 months into the game, they still have no clue how to stabilize its economy.

Spotted and kicked out a glitcher inside anz about 5 mins ago,if you are on TC better start questioning how legal the mesmer ports are.

Make sure you get screenshots next time and report them the official way. We definitely don’t condone any form of exploiting as a server, and I wouldn’t hesitate to report anyone I saw doing it.

The answer to this question during beta (when they made the band-aid fix of loot bags, since originally it was the same as PvE, you had to find the corpse….) was that the game engine itself needed a major overhaul to accomplish the loot——>inventory transition, as apparently it wasn’t possible to code into the current way the engine handles loot.

tl;dr
Engine needs major overhaul to “fix” this issue.

Honestly if they just made it as simple as “instead of popping up the ‘press F’ dialog, it just ‘pressed F’ for you,” people would be thrilled. It doesn’t have to be super complicated. People would have to be more careful about inventory management, but I doubt you’d get people complaining about that nearly as much as they’re complaining about the current system.

Hmm I think it is definitely a broken mechanic…

Who stands still in pvp?
Who wants to spam F during pvp?
Who wants to run around looking for hard to see bags after pvp?

I think it’s definitely broken, why not just auto loot the bags to your characters backpack or whatever?

QFT. The current system is utterly broken. It’s getting more and more tiresome that ANet isn’t providing a fix for this.

I spent 500 gold buying up dust when they were cheap. Those who can predict nerfs are normally the ones to real the benefits as well as the first ones on after an update. Think about how many people made a lot of gold from the last Southsun “dungeon” before they fixed it.

4. I would agree with this. Map design needs a major overhaul. They’re not balanced properly at all, and everything is far too close together.

I’ve noticed this a lot more lately. Take EB for example: you have 2 paths to take to push into another color’s territory. Two.. Two.. Two… Next to Stonemist or thru the NPCs (dredge/orges/hyleks)..

Where is my vase array of tunnels and mountain passes?! Blow up a zerg by adding MORE ways to travel around the map, more ways to move around = more places you need scouts.

I’m even OK with that….but consider Mends/Anz/Speld. Just look at the map and see how unfairly these locations are stacked against red. The Yak trek from Speld to those towers is incredibly long and filled with tons of enemy NPC interaction.

And Hills vs Bay? Bay is a cinch. Hills is pretty much impossible to take when occupied.

Supply in your third needs to be centrally located and distributed outwardly to your towers, not inwardly from satellite camps. This is exactly backwards from how it works in “real” warfare. Camps should be worth 10 points, and be as defensible as a tower.

My God I hate being Red.. SoS is red this week after ET was red for what seemed like ever… I can not STAND that layout. Mendons/Anz/Speld needs half that kitten lake cut off and Spel moved in. At least make the closer camps to towers give less supply, further more.

FoE does “Supply Camp Alamo” at random times, basically 3-4 AC/2-3 Ballista and see how many people we take on before over-run… and it’s tons more fun than laying siege to a tower. I’d LOVE to see more defensible camps, making supply actually worth it. Capping a camp shouldn’t just be “ok zerg we need supply lets steamroll 3 camps real quick”.

Idk just rambling on… I like your train of thought tho.

xD You can also play it at enemy spawns in EB, though the games tend to be quite a bit shorter. We’ve had north camp games last upwards of 30 minutes.

It’s really the same thing that goes on with Charged Cores/Lodestones. They’re not all that rare…it’s just that they’re used in SO MANY THINGS. ANet really needs to balance out the supply of things like this.

1. I actually very much agree with this point. The structures should be placed so that no siege in that structure can hit any other structure. This goes for SM as well. I think they basically need to stretch all the WvW maps out by a factor of 1.5x-2×. Yes, it would change a LOT in how the game is played, but that would be good/refreshing at this point.

2. Classes shouldn’t be balanced. Different classes are meant to fill different roles. Anyone can buy food.

3. Sieging structures, unless you’re fast-ninjaing stuff, is just inherently boring to me. I can’t stand it. I love open field ZvZ fighting.

4. I would agree with this. Map design needs a major overhaul. They’re not balanced properly at all, and everything is far too close together.

5. This is just coverage. Nothing wrong with this.

6. I like running in smaller teams for this reason. I like to feel like we actually just pulled off something hard, not won by sheer force of numbers.

7. Strength in numbers is just a fact of warfare. Those with more numbers have a greater chance of winning. This isn’t always the case, though, as huge mindless zergs can often be wiped by skilled/trained guild zergs half their size. Zergs should not be mindless or easy. If they are, you’re doing it wrong, and are at great risk of being destroyed by a smaller, far more skilled force.

8. Just a fact of warfare. Morale and morale-management is a huge part of the war effort. Even when things are bleak, those “commanding” need to be careful to keep everyone energized and optimistic.

Yeah, everyone is mostly having an easy week of it and goofing off. EBG/TCBL seem to be the only places operating “seriously.”

Seen a lot of TC focusing FA over the past couple days. Make sure we give SoS some love too! :-P

I think the fact that SOS can stay this competitive in tier 2, shows how ridiculously large the gap is between tier 1 and tier 2……. I admit i had entertained the notion that perhaps a tier 2 server could put up a decent fight against a tier 1 server, but not anymore.

I look forward to the day when a former tier-2 server goes against one or more tier-1 servers. I imagine the gap isn’t as wide as you like to believe, especially considering the massive coverage gaps all your servers have (as made evident by the fact that there’s at least one time period every day where each T1 server is getting pooped on).

SOR doesnt have coverage gaps. And when we are getting “pooped on” you must realize that we are keeping an approximate 200-250 ppt ( today we were top ppt actually during SEA) against 60-80 man JQ zergs in 2 out of 3 BL’s as well as EB. Think about those numbers and how your server would fare against that.

As far as JQ and BG, they do have “coverage gaps” by tier 1 standards…. those “gaps” would be more than enough to hold territory in tier 2.

We had three 60-80 man zergs running around three maps yesterday for around 12 hours.

I’m not saying we’d BEAT SoR/BG/JQ. I’m just saying that it likely wouldn’t be the slaughter you’re imagining.

EDIT: And most of us toasters would love to face off against a T1 server, even if we did lose, just for the experience and fun of it.

Gap between TC and SOS is 30k right now. For comparisons sake, gap between SOR and BG is 25k now.

Last time TC fought BG you guys lost by 150k ( BG vs TC, vs KN week 08). Since then BG has acquired most of Kaineng’s wvw population, and BT from FA. I guess if TC since that time gobbled up a server’s worth of wvw’rs then you may be right….. it won’t be a slaughter, but I am doubtful.

TC gained about 900-1200 WvW transfers in the last four months. Maybe more.

So there ya go. We <3 our new toasters.

TC has been queuing 3-4 maps for at least some amount of time every night for over a week. As a genuinely curious question, can T1 servers compete with that NA/Late-NA/Oceanic coverage?

As a side note: No one believed that SoS actually belonged in T4.

It is hard for a server to stay motivated when they are beaing badly beat. Losing is not fun anyway you look at it.

SoS is losing badly in T2, but they’re bringing the fight like crazy. They have an indomitable spirit. A lot of servers out there fight harder when they’re losing, and have fun doing it.

I feel so proud to be a part of SoS again. This ENTIRE weekend we were constantly outmanned in EB, even then we had quick reactions, amazing defense and even a little zerg bustin’!

Who said roaming is dead?! 5 man FoE roaming team had a blast last night running back and forth in the south of EB, running into groups much larger than us (fight for danelon was awesome!).

I do love the people who will /dance on our corpse after a 5v20, you guys must be so proud!

Roaming is never dead in high tiers as so many say. Yes theres def more zerging then roaming but we find our small scales each and every night and love it. I think every1 does tht /dance stuff lol. I knw last week when it was DB/TC our 5 man would kite 20-40 TC/DB for a good 5mins around the south side of the map. If they did manage to get us tht one time as a grp they would spam /laugh when in reality we were laughing at them for sending that many to get us and taking that long to kill us

Yeah, I’ve recently discovered the joy of small roaming teams, and have been doing a ton of it the last couple days. You definitely come across the zergs that will chase down a couple people, but I count that as a “win” simply because they wasted 20-70 people to kill 2-5 people and set back whatever they were doing by a minute. There have been times I will intentionally run into an enemy zerg to slow them down or spread them out when our zerg is trying to take an objective.

But anyway, I’ve discovered that Rangers are actually a good choice for participating in roaming teams, and I’ve have been having a ball on mine for the past week. Had to dust my ranger off and completely regear and respec for “escape mechanisms,” etc, but it was totally worth it.

Roaming in T2 is very much alive, in any case.

I don’t think it was the worst idea ever, just… if anet could share the love to T1, that’d be great. We deserve some crazy crap , too! Plus, I’m sure there’s some servers out there that would like to fight T1.

I really hope TC gets matched against one of the T1 servers soon! That’d be a really fun match, even if we lost.

Wow nice fight in SMC just now. Was a ton of fun and lots of profit!

Dat SMC Fight! Lasted about an hour….and SO MUCH SKILL LAG.

Also, I stood in the circle for the cap and helped down the lord four separate times….and got no credit for the cap. ANET HAS TROLLED ME.

Keep QQing, but this “horrible new system” just brought you from the top of T4 to the top of T3….which is where you should have been.

Winning every week by 100k points in T4 was just silly and unbalanced. Now you’re getting properly balanced out. Be happy for the blessing that your attitude doesn’t deserve.

I’d have been just as happy to fight our butts off losing to SoR all week. This is exciting.

In EBG It is Tarnished Coast Zerg vs. Fort Aspenwood and the game becomes unplayable. The server begins to kick and sputter, Waypoints stop working and skills become impossible to use. I really hope these fights quit being staring fights… Any news on Skill lag and WvW servers?

Shoulda come joined in the fight! It was epic!

I do wanna know why the server has a period of “permaquickness” for like 10 minutes following those huge fights. It’s crazy.

I think this is confirming a lot of people’s original suspicions that SoS firmly belonged in T3, not T4.

GJ SoS. Had some great small-group fights with you in EBG today.

The biggest problem is that They’re gonna land in T3 at some point, having learned lots of T2 tactics and organization…and they’re gonna spank. xD

Had a really good time on TCBL tonight. Thanks to PiNK, DIS, and EP ( <3 ) for all the hard working keeping that place secure. Pure Class, Fun Fights.

SoS: Had a lot of fun playing cat and mouse with you guys around Bay and Briar all night. You guys don’t quit, even when things are hard, and you’re outmanned. I admire your spirit! Keep fighting hard! Your glicko points are improving quite a bit.

FA: You guys are tough as nails, as always. I’m glad we get to fight you for another week. See you on the battlefield.

Oh, and like Jayne said earlier – TC and FA have the most to lose here. Currently, SoS is in third place by a bit, but gaining like 37 Glicko points, while TC and FA are both losing points. Keep it up!

I really think this was the point of the new matchup system. It’ll be very interesting to see how the points change up after this week. I’m gonna be watching closely.

Arbor is currently ticking at +545. Who’s getting crushed again?

Check again in 3 days time. It is not like the first hour or so after reset is really representitive of a 7 day event.

I hardly think a server who can turn the entirety of EBG green on reset night is in danger of getting “crushed.” Typically it’s a challenge to take even a single tower on reset night.

So why were they in T7 then If they are so awsome? You do not end up there unless you loose consistantly over the long term. Long term perfomance is a better indicator of ability than an hour of play.

One hour of success only says they can field allot of people during that time. It is not enough to show coverage especially during the normal business hours and sleep time. You need those to win too generally.
