Why not just buy the crude salvage kits that are so cheap at merchants? The WP cost to get to the karma vendor is expensive enough.

Ah but you see, that’s why people lose money. I am not going out of my way to wp, grab a kit then wp back, that’s just a stupid waste of copper. I know where most of the crude kits are any give place, I also know where the gathering tools are. Point is to make that trip but also knowing if an event is going on. MY favorite spot is Wayfarer’s Maw meta. I’ve gotten my guild members into that event so I basically will know when it starts, will start or end so I can time it well. A karma vendor right next to the wp sells my kit, do the events, grab a big chest box and then wp to my next destination or back to LA through the Mist. I just made over 5s from events alone while saving myself some copper for stuff I dont need to buy.

Yes, its cheap but having to keep buying it adds up.

I only need them to change the way Precursors are obtained. The rest is fine imo. The gift of Fortune requires “legendary” luck. The Icy runestones alone shows that you need “legendary” amount of gold. The gift of battle from badges shows “legendary” pvper. Of course the gift of exploration is from playing the game along with the gift from each dungeon. It’s about mastering each aspect of the game, so to me it makes sense.

Sure, you can buy all the other materials required but you DON’T have to. Normal gameplay (will take time which is intended by Anet). The prices on the the lodestones (especially Charged) are about supply and demand. Yes, ANet DOES need to increase the drop rate on those suckers but if you are going for one, it’s because you choose to go for the most sought after legendary so the demand is high for such a low supply. The same can be seen for Onyx because it makes the other sought after legendary GS.

Too many people complain because they want a “right now” thing. All Anet needs to do is change the way precursors can be gotten and increase droprate on lodestones and most of the complaints will lesson because it’s hard enough to get enough money for all the materials needed but when 1 item cost more than all of the others combined, its a problem.

PS, I’m going for Incinerator. 100 molten + 100 destroyer + 100 icy runestones + 250 ectos < price of precursor = problem.

I’ve been lucky to get mystic forge stones for my daily rewards, I still have 140 uses left on my kit and have enough stones to make another.

I ALWAYS use karma to buy crude salvage kit, from my experience it does perfectly fine for white/blue items.

I do notice that Master/Mystic salvage kit have a lower return on ectos compared to BL Kits.

I suspect the precursor drop chance is higher from chests (but of course, not high enough to be noticeable) than it is from world mobs and it’s this gamble that people are enticed at.

That being said, I do not do Claw of Jormag because the event is way too long. I have no problem doing Teq or kittensince those fights usually last under 5 minutes.

Sadly I’m in the same camp for Claw. Before it would take long to battle BUT you wanted the battle to last due to farming of the adds but now with the nerf drop rate on the adds and the “bugged” ice wall, killing it is a chore. I’m sorry if anyone see me at the event then run off and come back when it’s down to less than 10% HP. Sorry that I’m leeching off you guys but that effort is not worth the reward. I get better rewards and drops from the Shaman at the Maw in a level 11 meta than Claw. It’s even better also since it’s every ~30 mins and I’ve gotten 4 exotics from the Chest. I’ve even got an exotic from a small chest in Frostgorge (the event to help clear the Dredge Mine with Passive Moment) AND the chest from the jumping puzzle there also but have not gotten 1 from Claw in over 75 battles.

The other dragons I rush to because if you dont, it’ll be dead by the time you get there, that’s how easy and rewarding it is. Fast and easy kill for a chance at precursor with adds still dropping loot.

Does this really work? When you get pulled in you’re knocked down and can’t use your skills while he spins on you.

Try it. I do it all the time when for some reason I couldnt see him charge up (due to stacking party members).

It’s definitely great, especially with it’s new function to block all projectiles within its time limit.

There are times where the block will be overridden, I’ve tried block out on a lot of bosses to see if it’ll work. Usually the big knockdown attacks of bosses will go through your block and down you still.

I’ve had Flame trap in my skill bar for a very very long time and it feels like the ticks are slower than it was before.

IT does feel slower but not as big compared to that 40ms “animation” bug.

Be sure to bring a melee weapon, preferably a greatsword. Your pet WILL aggro lots of things, even on passive so makes sure to hide it when you just want to run. Use and long range weapon, I used a shortbow then when I’m surrounded, swapped to greatsword.

I would actually agree with Bri though, do Machlor’s Leap and CS last. Machlor’s Leap is worse than CS actually so if you can, grab someone else along either with map chat or guild members.

And also every important if you’re only going for map complete, grab some Ash Legion Spy Kits for those SP communing points. If you are lucky, your pet wont get you killed while doing it.

HI all, I’m relatively new to WvW (only 2 days into it since Launch) but I have a question. Currently on EB server and was defending a fort. Our walls got restored/repaired and while we were busy fighting a wave that’s a bit far from the fort, when I came back to it, the newly repaired walls were down/broken and I’m seeing a bunch of arrows from the Arrow Cart. Running around I see one of us (green font not red) using an arrow cart on our Fort wall. Is that possible? The person in question ran the moment he/she saw me approach the arrow cart.

Yeah this. I dont mind the event, especially if 6+ players are doing them since we get massive spawn and drops BUT the time it takes to be contested again is BS. It doesnt even allow you to do 2 paths before its contested again. This is also coming from a fast and easy paths, can you imagine a dungeon like CoE where it becomes contested when you’re not even halfway on a path, and you gotta do it all over again.

500 badges is easy to come by in overtime. Learn to enjoy World vs. World. There are tons of people that are intimidated by the concept and feel overwhelmed by the large maps but TRUST ME, once you learn it, you’ll enjoy it. Then 500 badges will feel like NOTHING compared to the other absurd legendary requirements.

+1 This. Till yesterday, I haven’t made a single kill in WvW since I didnt want to pvp (so never made Monthly) but I decided to start grabbing badges while I 100% WvW maps. IT was an AWESOME experience. I am sadden I never went sooner. So far the BoH drops were decent, 35/50 kills and I’ve gotten 20. One thing I gotta learn is that Drops land at your feet, gotta take muscle memory out of walking to drops (I’m range).

I would just farm the gold and buy them rather than try to farm them. Leave that to the bots (yes, they’re still around, Anet.)

They’re among the cheaper Lodestones (thankfully!) and you’d get more “Lodestones per hour” if you did dungeons or something for the Gold.

Yeah, lucky for you they dropped in price. I got mine when it was still in the 1g30s range. Now they are under 1g so a few runs in a dungeon will net you 1-2 if lucky.

You pretty much just hit a bad streak. I’ve had it, and I’m sure others have. The problem is that its happens TOO frequent compared to the past. I use to hit a bad streak (10+ salvage with 0-1 Ecto) about once a week, now its about 3 times a week.

Yes it is, I got one myself. 95% happy with it, the 5% isnt because those 250 ectos could have went into my legendary progress, lol.

You need to bring most of the weapons you can use depending on the dungeon. I believe that’s the beauty of GW2’s dungeon. Sure, you can always use the same weapon but you’ll have a harder time doing so than switching to the best weapon for the job.

You just gotta find a good group. It’s all about experiences in a dungeon. IF 80s are complaining about it, then they arent very good. My dungeon party (consists of two/three 80s including myself) has never turned down someone lower or someone who has never done it. Just the other night, stayed up way past midnight because 3 of our members werent 80, and never did any fractal so we had to run it through them and we wiped many times because they were inexperienced. It also didnt help that we had 2 of the worse fractals (for beginners) , the dredge and swamp. But we kept with it and finally did it. They even gave us our repair costs because they felt appreciative of us staying with them.

Seriously, worry about your own problems. These individuals found something that is not an exploit, they are just selling their knowledge of a dungeon and want to make money off it. They are basically henchmen/heroes for hired. I myself don’t do this but I see no reason for stopping them, they need to make money also in this game.

If Anet sees this as a problem, then they will patch it (most likely by making it impossible to switch character once inside).

It’s definitely a great site but guess what? You will still have people spamming it because of one main reason, their pc. I’m sure not many run on high end or even mid end pc so having to go out from client to website then back is a CHORE. It is beyond slow, I would know, I run a crappy system (because I’m to lazy to redo/reinstall my gaming pc due to blues screens/frequent Gw2.exe crashes).

Sad that the game/dev didnt implement this and a third party had to. This is one of the reasons why (along with filter and preview in TP) I believe this game is incomplete upon release because with all the great ideas the game has and build upon, something as simple as a filter or preview slipped past their dev ideas? (especially when other games do it)

Healing Spring is arguably the best heal in the game.

It’s also the only actually outstanding ability rangers have.

The Ranger should be renamed to ‘That Guy With The Pretty Good Heal’. Much more accurate.

100% agree, fantastic skill. Been using it since level 31 and has never left my skill bar. Its pretty great the see the HP of party members and they know to run to you or let me run to them (depends on the situation) for me to cast Healing Spring.

Ah, perfect topic to hijack. I was wondering if Gifts are accountbound or soulbounded? My main doesnt have Weaponsmith maxed but my alt does and I dont feel like leveling my main. So guessing since Niraks wants to craft a Gift on an alt, the gift is account bound. Would love a confirmation.

Here is my farming experiences, been farming pre nov 15 patch for 2 weeks vs post nov 15 patch for 2 weeks.

I farm in Frostgorge Sound, and guess what I do? Not the icebroods, but the Veterans at Arundon Vale wp. Why there? Five veteran oakhearts, 1 vet crab, 2 vet grawls, 1 vet raptor, 1 broodmother all within a circle. This is done on a 45 min MF food run.

Before the patch, 8/10 times I would get a drop, any drop. I’ve been lucky many times to even get 2 rares from 1 drop and/or exotics.

Pre nov 15 Patch : Average time of 45 mins for 2 weeks and only counting drops from the veterans, so 10 vets in about 10 mins in a full run, averaging 3 runs/circles in 40 mins. I also start with 65 free inventory slots. With the drops from the reg mobs, and the vets, I have to vendor every 25 mins.

Salvage items : 6
White gear : 9
Blue gear : 12
Green gear : 9
Rare gear : 4
Exotics : 0

That’s an average of 30 kills for 50 drops.

Post Nov 15 patch : Same path, same time frame of 2 weeks for 45 min spans.

Green gear : 2
Rare gear : 0-1
Exotics : 0

Count that, 30 kills for a total of 14 drops.

I cant even fill my bags to vendor after the MF food wears off. Problem detected. Before patch, I was pretty much insured to get a blue/green item from a veteran, now I can’t even get a single trash drop from killing over 5.

Then lets not even talk about the DR for DEs. After you relaxed the DR for DEs, it was fine, but after December patch, it got worse so did you guys revert it back to pre relaxed?

Ah yes, forgot to mention that. Personally I keep my rare/exotic greatswords to toss into forge at a chance for a precursor, to sell (if you’re not aiming for Sunrise/Twilight).

The actual players found a way to make money/farm efficiently so they had to “fix” it. Makes us think, we shouldn’t report anything, it’ll just hurt the actual player base. Game is fun but very unrewarding and for many, they play for the rewards. I knew I was right to buy 200 of while the price was low, now I got 250 of them to make my gifts when I finish off Powerful Venom Sac and E. Totems.

Throwing in exotics give better chance since you’ll 99% will get an exotic back, you’re just playing the “which exotic will i get?” game. Putting in rares will have you playing 2 gambling games, “Will it go to exotic?” and then “which exotic will i get?”. See why people spend more and putting exotics in?

And yes, Swords can downgrade for some reason, had it happen 2x to me.

Depends on the dungeon. Some dungeons places alot of cond dam on you and hard to avoid them so either have a party member that have the ability to remove them for you or use grab some vit. If you’re in a duneon, as long as you’re alive, you are contributing dps, no matter how low so its a better choice to be able to survive than output high damage. Sustained dps > high damage if you get downed frequent and another person has to come pick you up. That’s a lost of 2 dps.

Now IF you are good and many are, where you actually survive longer as a glass than the other party members, then by all means remain glass.

The dolls are EVIL! I usually use Rampage as One so I wouldnt get knocked down. If I see dolls, I pick up and run out of there. Golems are problematic but nothing good kting and dodging can’t solve. Everything else, I stand and kill.

Last night I actually laughed my butt off when I got downed and almost dead when level 11 Dolls in less than 2 seconds.

Use Ruby orbs for now till you can afford the runes or grind enough tokens.

Actually Legendary weapons are not an increase in power. They are purely for looks so if you don’t like the look then get something you do like. I am working toward corrupted cuz they are sweet

They will be increase in power so Ascended gear wont be stronger than them. It’s not anytime soon but planned for the future when you start getting ascended weapons.

IF you like the look and effects of them, go for it. If not, look somewhere else. I’m going for Incinerator AND I DONT EVEN USE A DAGGER!!!

It’ll take you a bit of time anyways so maybe they will improve on them, effects and stats wise. I say just make the general Gifts that all legendaries requires incase you change your mind.

Nah, they only use Bite. Most of the drakes are useless anyways since its hard to aim their F2 and seems to die quickly when it shouldnt.

Many pets work unlogically if you look at them. Why do jellyfish have more hp/toughness than a armored fish or shark? Birds hit harder than a bear?

A few hours after patch doesn’t say much but from my experience since it went live, I’ve been getting more drops (or the RNG gods deemed me lucky). Not anything special but more consistent drops from mobs. About 1/3 kills kill drop something, either vendor trash or blues with decent green rate.

Was there a present box when it opened? IF there wasn’t then it was a dud I believe.

I would be more ok with the charge up time if the pet followed its target during the actual animation. With how it is now, you can have your River Drake (which has an AMAZING damage f2) fully charge up the skill and then have it go on full CD because the opponent got behind the pet without even realizing what the pet was doing.

That’s a really good suggestion imho!

TO give the River drake some credit, it does somewhat aim the lightning almost paralleled to its head. Of course it’s not consistent but better than the other drakes who only shoots in front.

It’s definitely a good suggestion though but could be OP. Just time your daze, stun, frozen, cripple and F2 right (best to pop right away on swap to reduce Charge time AND let it be by your side, not infront), wont be missing much.

Congrats on the dagger. I am also going for one and the hardest challenge for me would be the badges since I don’t WvW (which also means I haven’t gotten 100%). I dont’ even have 1 WvW kill yet so never made monthly daily, lol.

Buy green armor lv 75 – 80 and throw it into a mystic forge, you can get 1 green item that you can sell or a rare (yellow) item that you can salvage with Mystic Salvage Kit or Black Lion Salvage Kit and get Glob of Ectoplasm out of it, then sell it or craft something. I made a lot of money this way.

Yup, that’s the best way. If you have lots to burn, toss them with a donation package and grab some keys, Wintersday chests inbound.

So still no response, heh… Reminds me of a certain Ranger thread after the SB “animation fix” that got treated the same way.

I’m still making money but of course not as fast as we should due to the “bug”.

I say wait till Wintersday to come out. There will be new recipes and possible new weapon skins created from the forge. If there is nothing that pleases you, then go for it. Funny enough, I just used this logic on myself. Like you I also have all my materials to make a Jormag’s Breath sword and been questioning if I should make it now or later. I decided to wait (like my telling you) to see if my Ori Ingots/Lodestones will be of any use for the new recipes. I Also have a Visions of the Mist greatsword and its awesome. Problem was, I made it days before the Karka patch so those 250 Ectos could have went to my Acsended Quivers T_T.

I dont see how this is a problem when the prices for Ori is going up. It was only 2s30c past few days, now its 2s65c. Apparently its not hurting the market.

Check the video of Frostfang, last I saw there wasnt much effects with it.

Congratz to both Arkedi and Safari on their legendary bows. For some reason I want a dagger legendary for my ranger even though I never use one, haha.

If you are running Axe/Horn combo, I suggest investing in a trap, preferably Spike or higher level Frost. It will help you kite the mobs better especially if you have Call of the Wild boons on.

As for inventory space, learn leatherwork crafting right away. You should have enough leather scraps (if not buy them cheap from trading post) and make 8 slot leather bags right away.

Guys, remove your MF gear, it seems to work better as of right now. That’s my tip, try it for one farming session and see the difference.
