There are a couple of bugs that make this offhand weapon broken:

  • The projectile very often misses and a message appears as obstructed even when there is clearly NOTHING in between.
  • The sword cannot be thrown back.

30seconds of regeneration isnt all that amazing. 130hp/sec, that doesnt in anyway compare to Warriors passive healing. Who, without gearing for healingpower get 362 from Healing Signet and another 120per second from Adrenal Health.
No contest, Warrior is far and beyond much better in this department. So i dont see how this is relevant.

There are time gaps in the battle where the mezmer becomes invisible, or plain simple distracts the enemy. During that time the Mezmer is not being attack, this means that he is gaining regeneration WITHOUT his HP bar being affected. On contrast, a warrior during battle is healing BUT the damage to his HP is CONSTANTLY affected.

  • If healing signet gives approximately 400 HP/sec and you are getting hit for 400 damage every second, then that nullifies the effect of healing signet.
  • On contrast, you cannot put constant pressure on the mezmer because of all his teleports, invisibility, dazing, confusing clones. This gives the Mezmer some time to regenerate his health with out his HP being affected. THIS MY FRIENDS IS PASSIVE PLAY!

So the warrior with his big health pool would just not give a kitten, because he would actually not even taking any damage, while the mesmer would have to use all his tricks to actually mitigate the damage taken.

What is your kitten argument here?

While one is doing active damage with passive defense the other is doing passive damage with active defense. Passive damage will always be bigger than 400 HPS.

That is my point, with passive damage being MINIMUM 400 damage per second you can nullify the warrior healing signet.

About face only works when:

  • You are not using your mouse
  • You have not offset your camera
  • You are not using a skill

yeah, that is exactly why I use the about face button because I do not use the mouse. The only time I use the mouse is to turn around and look around me.

Dodge, move and play the game. Are you kittened or do you only play thief and are blind? Thief s if any class already have a lot of active defenses . You got a kitten load of blinds and jumps and you still moan how to survive. What the hell. UHHH … QQ I actually had to COMMIT to an action like every other class. QQ I can’t kitten up and be instantly gone again. QQ my mistakes actually stick to me QQ .

I really am awe struck by the stupidity of this entire statement. I usually try my best to stray away from such statements on the forums, but I’m really getting fed up with unjustified thief QQ. A bad thief will not survive at all period. if my CnDs dont connect due to an extremely wide range of possibilities, I am beyond vulnerable. And mistakes are very noticeable on thief. if I mess up in a fight, there’s a very good chance that it’s going to bite me in the kitten unless I can work around my mistake. Same with other classes, although classes such as warrior and guardian and much more forgiving. And a 10s revealed would completely destroy thief. period. There’s nothing we could do for 10 whole seconds to stay alive w/o stealth like other classes can. it is our means of survival, with he exemption of Evade builds, but people complain about those too.. Seriously, is there anything we can do for you guys to not hate us?

This post is not about stealth, this post is about how thieves have semi-immunity to chill. We want to discuss how thieves should be penalize by this condition. There are various ways that the thief could be penalized for example:

  • if the thief is chilled make him deal -xx% damage (if initiative regeneration is not slowed down).
  • root the thief and freeze him and make his movement slow down to 100%.
  • chill should stop utility skill recharge to +90% or even 100% to compensate for the semi immunity.

Nobody will disagree that there is a problem with chill affecting thieves. Now, consider this hypothetical scenario:

  • imagine for a moment if warriors were semi-immune to blind. What if warriors could connect a hit 50/50 even when blinded?

I can think of lots of ways to fix the chill problem; one of the easiest solutions I think would be to get rid off the -xx% skill cool down for ALL classes. That way everyone would be affected by just -66% speed.

Warrior Mobility Predications

A nerf on Warrior mobility will never happen and it should never happen because of the following reasons:

  • ranger with sword/dagger and great sword can move the same distance as a warrior.
  • thief with pistol/dagger + teleports + short bow can move equally OR faster than warriors
  • elementalist with teleports + ride lightning + elite sword skill + offhand dagger + chill can escape too.
  • guardian with tanky build can escape even if being chased by 5 people.
  • Mezmer teleport and invisibility can at any time reset the fight.

Conclusion:
Every class has its own build to escape or prolong a chase. A rebuild on warrior speed MUST bring a rebuild on every other class agility/speed builds.

What happened to this skill on the offhand sword? A long time ago I had a build that used offhand sword and impale did not miss as often as it does now. Now it shows as obstructed when there is clearly nothing in between. Also it does not throw back the sword! Somewhere along these updates it got bugged? I try to search for impale but nothing shows up the forums sucks.

The 30 sec of regeneration only if you cannot kill his phantasm or if he didn´t shatter them.

The build exists but you can do more damage with others setups.

The point made here is that passive play needs to be tone down for these kinds of builds. Little by little your hp gets down and keeps going down until you are left with 0 hp and the mezmer kills you. More and more Mezmers are using this in PvP and frankly it is getting annoying that these suckers have permanent regeneration because they are not destroying their clones, if you destroy them you get punish with conditions. So either way you lose!

I have read many post complaining about warrior passive “healing” yet nobody complains about the mezmer passive damage AND healing. There is a build where the Mezmer can:

  • receive up to 30 seconds of “regeneration”
  • Spam clones/phantasms non stop
  • deal direct damage / passive damage/ AND condition damage.
  • Can cure conditions non stop thanks to mantra healing
  • can remain in stealth for long time.

All these in just ONE SINGLE build. I believe this build is called PU i heard some one saying that.

Passive play needs to be tone down for Mezmers.

On Windows, there is a mouse option that you can turn on that will make a visible circle appear around your cursor when you press ctrl. Works while in GW2 as well.

I’m not a designer so I can’t speak as to why or why not the mouse cursor is as it is, but this tip just saved me. Thank you, Olba!!

Can you guys share the secret/tip. How do you activate it?

could it be relative to the camera, if your camera cant move 180 degrees without hitting something then it wont like it, just an idea maybe worth checking out.

Im not sure what is happening. The only thing I know is that it is more likely to happen when you are in combat. When you push the button it is as if the camera wants to turn 180 degrees but then suddenly goes back to the original position, hence prohibiting you from turning 180.

This is likely it in this case, and this description is something I have seen happen, usually if there is a wall or 2 nearby.

I found out what is causing this bug; the bug is caused when you press (AT THE SAME TIME) the “about face button” + any other skill.

It’s even worse because the cursor turns red over enemies, which makes it even harder to see.

Very true, I haven’t noticed that. The cursor should be any other color considering that enemies have red names. In a wvw battle the full screen turns red if you have the option to show enemy names.

What most people don’t realize is that thieves are the only non-heavy class that MUST get into melee range in order to do any serious damage. This is the reason why movement impairing effects hurt us so much; unlike all the other non-heavy classes we have to get up close and at the same time we don’t have any protection, blocks, invuls, for our low hp pool and medium armor.

It also doesn’t make sense for chill to affect initiative because initiative is a global resource pool. A class who uses a skill while chilled will only have that skill affected by the cd increase, whereas a thief would have all his skills using initiative increased.

I don’t think that is the problem. Thieves can blind spam and get up close and fight any profession. They have also access to range weapons and stealth.

The problem with thief is that chill does not affect them, it might affect the utility skills just like any other profession, but when it comes to weapon skill they are immune to it. Nobody should have immunity to conditions.

Chill MUST have an effect on the thief weapon skills. What should that effect be? We will leave that to Anet developers.

Personally, I think chill should either:

  • Decrees initiative regeneration (keep in mind that chill lasts for a brief time, usually 2-3 seconds, or 5+ if you are spammed by it.) So the thief initiative regeneration will be affected for a short time.
  • Chill should last longer in thieves to compensate for the immunity. In other words, a longer cool down on their utility skills.

Why do developers insist on introducing food that increase condition duration with every patch? It is time to introduce more Food that nullifies the effect of condition duration.

Here is an incomplete list of the food that increase condition duration (level 80 food).

  • Rare Veggie Pizza +40%
  • Bowl of Garlic Kale Sautee +40%
  • Toxic Sharpening Stone +10%
  • Toxic Maintenance Oil +10%
  • Toxic Focusing Crystal +10%

Here is a list of food that decrease condition duration (level 80)

  • Bowl of Lemongrass Poultry Soup -40%
  • Loaf of Saffron Bread -20%

The price of Bowl of Lemongrass Poultry Soup is around $50 silver and that is because it is the only food that can nullify all of the other cheap +40% condition foods.

If you are tired of conditions please share/like/bump this treat so it gets the attention it deserves.

You havent stopped to think how this would affect the Thief, it would solve the problem? how many classes have access to chill and interrupts? how would this affect the gameplay of the thief? how could the thief counter this? would remain the thief still playable?. And there are much more questions that a balance team has to respond and your topic doesnt adress.

Your topic is driven by ignorance and personal taste.

The thief can remove conditions upon entering stealth and more conditions every 3 seconds. Chill can easily be removed because thief can enter stealth every 3 seconds. I see no problem with making thief drain initiative if he gets chilled, it would be more of an annoyance to the thief than a problem. Just like chill is an annoyance to any other class whose skills are affected by this condition.

During beta, they actually WERE affected by chill. It was a slaughterhouse. They couldn’t fight anything that had any amount of chill. This was reverted for a reason.

Same applies to the initiative, too.

I see no problem now that thieves can remove 2 conditions every 3 seconds while on stealth. Maybe it is time to reintroduce it.

Initiative isn’t an advantage, its just different. It lets thieves make quick decisions but at the same time if they drain their initiative and don’t succeed at w/e they were attempting, it bites them back hard. A lot of weapon kits have a heavy reliance on the defensive weapon skills which is keeping them alive. Nerf that and you get a face tank sheet of glass which is just awful to think of.

Other classes can cycle 1-5, swap a weapon and 1-5 again if they wish. Thief can 1-4 and be drained, swap, still drained. Its a system unique to them because of how the class behaves. All the coeficients, the condition/control durations are lower than most skills because of this.

Tl:DR

No, initiative is fine as is. Thief needs some reworks but not initiative.

When you interrupt a thief that was about to use a skill, that skill should have a 3-4 second cool down just like other profession. The reason why thieves are so OP at evades and escape is because they can SPAM any skill they want.

For example:
Lets say that a thief was about to use cloak and dagger to stealth, if you interrupt him, he can IMMEDIATELY use it again.

I think the reason why thieves are so over powered at evades and stealth is because they have CONSTANT access to them regardless of interrupts.

The thing I do not like about thieves is that they can SPAM any skill they please. This makes them annoying to fight, and more annoying is that they have huge DPS and condition damage.

Summary:
If you interrupt a thief’s skill, that skill should have a 3-4 second cool-down just like any other profession who was about to use the skill. The thief will still have access to utility skills and weapon swapping skills.

Thanks you are a life savor. I have been telling anet that a zoom tool is a must for arrow carts when you are defending a tower. This zoom option that you are talking about only works if you are a defender, it does not work if you are attacking a tower because you cannot see inside the tower. The people that shoot inside the towers are using hacks!

This is kittenen stupid. I will spam this tread every day until I get a response from Anet. My combustive shot keeps going on cool-down no it happened when I was fighting a necro on WvW he did not fear me, he did not interrupted me, he did nothing, but for some reason my combustive shots keep going on cool-down.

If you are experiencing this please report it so it gets fixed soon or else it will take 5 years to fix it.

How many times have you been on a zerg fight or just a regular fight and cannot find the kitten cursor because of all the fancy animations and bling-bling animations and brightly things going on on the screen?

You move and move the mouse just to see if you can locate it on the screen but you fail to locate it?

Anyone hate this?

Side note:

Also add an option where we can disable all the skill description when you put the mouse on top of the skills. It is annoying that they pop up like spam on a web browser.

I get this also, but i think this happends when you aim on your target when he is invull..
Like the first 2 sec when someone goes down or ofc by any invull skill.. when you aim on them to fire it just doesnt do anything (and yes on full cooldown) try to hit just beside them.

I do not think this is intended. I really think it is a bug because you can also see that happening with enemy gates on WvW. I shot combustive shot at the gate and it goes on 8 sec cool-down. It is happening with gates and with players; I do not know why, but nonetheless it is something that needs to get fixed as soon as possible.

For some reason the skill will go on a cool-down upon using it. The skill It is not being interrupted so i do not know why this is happening. Today i tried to use it 3 times on a PVP match when i was dueling a mezmer and for some reason it just went on cool-down 3 times.

So are you saying you had 40% then got hit for 5k and it didnt activate and stop the 5k hit?
The trait version of endure pain doesnt work that way. It activates when you are next hit while under 25%.
So if you were at 40% and got hit to go under 25% or if conditions dropped your health to under 25% then the next hit would activate it. If you dont get hit by an attack then it would never activate.
It also wont trigger if you say got hit from 26% to downed state.
If this isnt what you meant then sorry but i dont quite understand.

Something like that, the endure pain is not activating when the health goes from X% to -25%. I can confirm this because today on fractals I got hit really hard by a boss when i was 50%-70% and i went down immediately. I was not experiencing this before, I was not getting on the down state; endure pain always activated before.

Endure pain is not activating!
This happens when you are stuck with an excessive hit. Example:
I am at around 40% health someone comes and hits me for +5k damage and I drop down with out the endure pain activating.

On this picture I activated my utility endure pain out of desperation and still got hit as you can see on the log.

Also, make sure you click on the item in the TP to find out the actual price. The price you see on the first TP page when you search for a new item can be misleading. Just like when I searched for nopales. The search page said 1 gold a piece. But when I actually clicked on it to get the ‘buy’ page it was around 4s, 15 c.

Yeah I calculated the prices by making sure that all the materials need for crafting had the correct price on the TP. My calculation shows that you need 80+ gold to get a set of armor on 7/5/14.

But, at any rate, like Azhure said: In time supply v demand should bring the price down.

I think the problem here is that there is not a lot of supply. To craft these armors you need an exaggerated amount of Ambrite. I have farmed the materials since the patch was released and so far I managed to get only 4 sheets of Ambrite. You need 5 sheets to craft ONE miserable piece of armor.

You are referring to “about face” where the character (not only the camera) should turn 180 degrees, right?

If so: the “about face” button only works, while the right mouse button (the one for steering the camera) is not pressed. It is annoying and absolutely unnecessary and bothers me a lot too, since I use the about face option quite often to use skills like burning retreat as a gap closer.

So in order to make it work, you need to release the right mouse button every time you want to use about face. I guess that’s why you notice it in combat a lot – since you steer the camera much more “in action” (at least I guess that’s the reason).

I would also like to see a “fix” to that, even though I don’t think it is considered a real “bug” in the first place.

I do not use the right click at all. I have been using the “about face” button ever since I purchased the game. I think it is a real bug that prohibits you from turning 180. I have experience this bug since I bought the game for that reason I am 100% sure it is a bug. However, I do not know how to duplicate it. The bug seems to occur at random and it is more frequent when i am in combat.

With every patch we see some outrageous prices. The new materials are ridiculously high in price on the TP. To get one set of Nomad’s armor you need 80+ Gold. That is a ridiculous amount of gold. It is equivalent to running dungeons for approximately 80 runs or (80 runs)(20 minutes/run) = 1600 minutes

1600 minutes = 27 hours.

3. Learn the best spots to place siege to counter the AoE issue. Catapults and ballistas work wonders against AoE when placed correctly.

The problem with using catapults inside the tower is that you are using them the wrong way. Catapults are meant to be used as offensive siege. When you place a catapult inside a tower you have very little room to shot the catapult. If you put the catapult on top of a tower’s wall you will miss all your targets or your catapult will get destroyed by AOE.

I am going to say that 95% of the arrow carts placed on towers and keeps can be destroyed by AOE. The rest 5% can be placed on a good location BUT with extremely low field of view. Most of the enemies are not visible from those locations.

Congratz; you did a good job on ignoring the rest of what I’ve written just after the sentence you’ve quoted.

You use the stance because you don’t want to take damage. The Thief is in stealth. You don’t take damage. Stance worked just fine.

You are still susceptible to damage either condition damage or direct damage.

Not sure if you are not troling but stances should not give reveal. Its too much for a stance. Warrior stances are good in some situations and they are easy to counter/avoid when you use them wrong and thats how they should stay.

What the game needs its real counters to stealth. If warrior for some reason get one skill to counter stealth it should not be on stances.

I would like that in Physical Utilities, like stomp.

Stance is when you courageously resist opposing forces, you take—or make—a stand.
Anyone around you should be aware of you and you should be aware of anyone around you. Going in stealth breaks this utility skill, thus making it useless.

  • These utility skills have 60 second cool down and are of vital importance to warriors. Stealth makes them completely and utterly useless.

If you see it not ‘working’ ask if someone else sees you turning around when you hit it.

I don’t think it is a graphics issue because the character keeps moving forward instead or turning 180 degrees and move back.

When a warrior uses a stance, the thief or anyone that uses stealth should be revealed for AT LEAST half of the time the stance last. Currently they can go in stealth and just sit there for eternity waiting for the stance to wear out.

Why should the stance reveal the thief?

First of all, the thief has access to unlimited stealth; revealing him for 2 second or 4 seconds will not affect its profession because they could still kite while not in stealth. Using a stance should force the thief to fight or flight. They should be forced to kite or fight the warrior, not sit on stealth waiting for the stance to wear out.

Note: the stances have a cool down of 60 seconds and the stance buff last for a very small time.

Oh look he has barserker stance, I better go in stealth. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 stance is over bang bang, bang, bang, oh he has endure pain, I better go in stealth. 1,2,3,4 stance is over bang bang bang, now he has a 60 second cool down on those skills; he wont use them again until next minute. In the mean time the thief has access to unlimited stealth and blind and on top of that he is a condition spammer.

Conclusion:

  • Warrior stances should reveal the thief for AT LEAST half the time the stance lasts. The thief cannot sit on stealth while the warrior has the stance or else the stance is useless.
  • No utility skill should be useless; or else they will not be called utility skills.
  • If the stance reveals the thief it will reveal it for maximum 4 seconds and minimum 2 seconds because that is the approximate half duration of the stances.
  • Warriors cannot spam reveal the thief because their stances have a cool down of 60 seconds.
  • The thief should be presented with the option to fight or flight. If the Barzerker stance is activated he can do direct damage; if the endure pain stance is activated he can do condition damage.
  • The reveal buff should not stack.

If you are crying for 2-4 seconds of reveal upon using the stance then you are the troll. Please do not comment on this post if you are going to post useless whining and insignificant discussions

[Bug]Button "About Face" does not work

Button says: “Turn your character 180 degrees”

The bug:

I don’t know why it sometimes does not work. I press and press the key but the character does not want to turn 180 degrees. I am a heavy user of this button because I do not use the right click to turn the camera around. Please fix this bug because it does not allow me to turn 180 when i am on battle or when I have finished a battle. i really do not know what causes this bug. Sometimes the button works flawlessly, but some other times the animation looks like it jams and it does not matter how many times i press the button it wont turn 180.

UPDATE 8/2/14
I managed to replicate the bug with 100% results. The bug is caused when you press (AT THE SAME TIME) the “about face button” + any other skill. If you press those buttons at the same time and then you want to use the “about face” button again, it will jam and wont let you turn around.

I hope this gets fixed really quick because I am a heavy user of this “about face” button and i keep getting this bug over and over again.

I cannot apply runes to the cultural armor that I just purchased.

  • I purchased the tier 1 Norn cultural armor. I am a 47 level female Norm.
  • I try to upgrade the armor with Major runes but nothing happens.

The EoDM is a karma/experience/character leveling farm. The game was designed to have guild battles, hence the name Guild Wars. However, these karma/experience/character leveling farms is killing the fun of the WvW game. Once in a while there is a battle, but most of the time it is just farming and more mindless farming.

I have tried defending towers by building siege, but no one shows up and the tower usually gets taken.

Currently you cannot defend a tower properly. What do I mean by properly?

1.- Siege can be destroyed by aoe attacks because the siege is placed near the edge of the tower.
2.- The siege MUST be place near the edge or else you will lose field of view and you won’t be able to PROPERLY defend the tower because you cannot see the enemies.

How can you fix this?

1.- Modify the towers to allow for a TALL vigilance tower where you can build arrow carts. This will give the user a wide field of view.

OR

2.- When some one gets on an arrow cart allow them to zoom further.

Warriors need to be stable, they need to be on their feet to do damage. However, currently the only stability that they can access comes from utilities such as:

  • signet of dolyak (60 sec cooldown)
  • Balance stance (40 sec cooldown)

This means that warriors are most of the time unstable.

My suggestion is to make the shield skills give a stability boon. That would make sense since your shield is your way of survival. If you look at the shield skills they are very unimpressive and dull for a shield.

Use this build:

At 25% health you will gain endure pain. The thief will see that you are at 25% health so he will get all exited and will try to burst you down but he will not kill you because you are immune to damage. When your endure pain finishes use the second endure pain that you have you will be immune for 10 seconds total. He will try to bring you down with all dps he has but he will fail. During these 10 seconds of immunity use:

  • Shield bashing
  • Eviscerate
  • 100 blades
  • use all you have to bring him down.
  • Also use your Barserker stance to get 10 sec of condition immunity (blind immunity)

You just need 1 eviscerate and thief will go down!

I have noticed that thieves are getting on me 5 stacks of confusion upon entering stealth and attacking. THEY DO NOT INTERRUPT ME (I stood still just to test this) but somehow they manage to get 5 stack of confusion. Devs need to take a look at this.

So far I have all instruments that have been released.

If you ever consider introducing this instrument, please make sure that we have full control of it. Do not allow it to play continuous notes like the flute; make it play the notes like the Marriner horn where you have to press the note and held it for an X amount of time. If you release the note the instrument goes silent immediately!
