And the guy who wrote this clearly didn’t know it.You think he wrote this whole thread and doesn’t understand siphoned power? I don’t get how you would think that. His description of the trait stands, it’s not helpful having short duration, selfish might when I’m low on health, regardless of how it works in death shroud.
He knew everything about the trait EXCEPT that you get might EVERYtime when you are struck when below 25% health. He said something like “a single stack of might at 25% health won’t help”. Just correcting a mistake man.
And agains I never said this was a good trait. I also think it sucks. Just showing how it really works.

So I’m pretty new to engi and I’ve play the 4/2/0/6/2 condi bomb/tool/elixer gun build and I like it a lot but ever time when I die it’s either burning or bleeding which has killed me.
How do you experienced engis deal with this?
The only condi removal is 2 from healing turret and 20% chance from auto attack though light field. I don’t want to change my build too much…. But I want to get rid of those pesky condi’s.
As a necro I never had these problems :P
You will probably not get in top 100 but you can get pretty far with it. I use the new assasins amulet and do very decent. Helping cap side points and taking down people below 50% health is easy.

12% LF, 12 stacks vuln, at LEAST 3k damage with zerker. Great spike of damage. But or the rest meh. The only use I found for 5 was when an ele pops that earth can trip thingy. The animation is still there but no boons :P

Oh btw holl I was trying out spectral grasp instead of bip in the spectral zerkers build, I know you like it. It’s definitely worth a try for pesky rangers.
haha, yes i feel it’s been buffed in a passive way because they buffed pew pew rangers. Last soloq match was against 3 LB rangers. i grasped one but the others killed me

NOW WHAT I SUGGEST is that you get off your warrior butt, play a necro and see how easy it is too die. Sure necro got two teleports but WARRIORS HAVE ARGUABLY THE BEST MOBILITY. Due to GS/ sword / warhorn.

Often I got a crit of and that allowed me to enter DS to fire that extra LB to down the enemy. I just like DS regen, and I’ve gotten used I it because I use it my power build. But eventually it all comes to down to preference, but I don’t think 2 seconds weakness and some bleeds are worth it.
Reapers precision also procs when in ds letting you stay in ds a little longer.
I just have a hard time seeing this build with celestial being more effective than it with zerkers or soldiers.
I have no problem keeping 10 stacks of might without strength sigils.
The whole point of the other classes using celestial is to have sustain while maintaining damage, this build sacrifices sustain for kitten damage compared to just adding walk energy sigils and zerker amulet that would allow for some sustain and much much higher damage.
If you can keep up 10 stacks that’s fine, but it’s keeping up 20 stacks that make those sigils worth it. 700 power and condi dmg is always good to have.
And like I said before, use it with whatever amulet you like, I’m just using celestial and seeing how it goes.

Well look at the classes celestial truly shines ele, engi, warrior. Boon heavy classes, the eXtra boons make up for what celestial lacks in precision, damage, etc. Also healing power works well for those classes and it’s shyt on us. Your not really doing much condi damage aa compare to those classes. I’m pretty sure it’s well documented that celestial works best on boon heavy classes.
As for the swalk and energy sigils. Those extra dodges are so worth it. Drop those strength sigils for energy and you’ll notice how much better the build is, some of your other teammates can make up for the might you lost. With swalk and warhorn your swiftness uptime is unreal, as well as your juking. You will feel very very mobile, I even have a version that uses ogre runes zerker ammy and wurm instead of bip that’s pretty fun to play on certain maps also swaps out sigils of battle for fire, air, or generosity.
I don’t have any problem with precision or damage. 39% is just fine (109 in DS for 5 seconds than 89) and with 15 stacks at least my damage isn’t bad either.
But again a I said a lot of amulets work in this build. But Barbarian, celestial and knights are the best IMO. And if you want to take SWalk that’s fine I just really like grasp.
And I would not losing strength sigils because it allows you to keep up 10 stacks of might on both sets. Sure some more dodges are fine but I like to go all in with the might here.
Similiar to mine, I just don’t think the anything other than pure power amulets are worth it for a spectral necro, your build has alot of might which is cool but without energy sigils and sw it’s tough to disengage and I’m not even sure how much less squishy celestial is compared to zerkers since we aren’t a real boon heavy class.
I’ve been trying for weeks to make a celestial necro and you would not believe what build I found to be the best celestial build. It’s a strange signet necro with terror. But it still kind of sucks.

But i dont believe SW and dodging will get you out of sticky situations. Sure the teleport is nice but all they gotta do is turn around and continue the chase. And in such a little space (pvp map) you have a lot less open space. As a necro ive totally given up on trying to escape unless it’s a guardian.
And do you need boons for celestial? If so I didn’t get the memo.
Just check Spoj’s sticky for all dungeon power nec. And yea you want to go power, if not for your necro than for some other Zerk class.

After testing some things concerning the new patch I came up with this build and so far, it has been doing pretty well.

I tried to include all that was buffed (sorry SoV, not you though) and came to dagger/WH and staff. I could have gone with axe but it’s cluncky and I’ve been using dagger all my life. Spectral skills also got a few little buffs so it also turned into a spectral build.
Build parts:
Might stacking – using only your sigils you should get around 20 stacks of might at all time . Using BiP you will have 25 stacks for 17 1/2 seconds. You can also get 25 without BiP but than you would have to spam LB which is unproffesionable. Your condi damge will be around 1k with around 15 might. Tainted shackles is 5k torment, dark path 2k bleed I think, BiP around 8k (but 39 seconds) and than staff 2 is 1k.
Spectral skills- BiP is just great for this build, but that leaves 2 util slots. Spectral armor is a must due to massive LF regen and 40 sec cd. Than you can choose between wall, walk and grasp. I chose grasp because (20% LF, 5 sec chill, pull, utility, 24 sec cd, love it) I use it in my standard powermancer and because I really don’t need more swiftness (warhorn gives 95% uptime). Wall is meh. But in WVW I would choose walk over grasp.
Celestial?- first I used barbarian for 28k health and 21k LF for 50 frickin K health but than I had too much precision, and too little armor. So following the new meta I chose celestial. I don’t see any damage decrease and I’m also tankier.
the truth is that any power based amulet with no HP (healing power) would work but celestial gives many more stats total.

Alright so I’ve chosen VP for the first build but I’m still stuck with #2.
So Im kind of stuck. I need to choose between these traits for 2 builds:
First of all my powermancer: I got my traits all sorted out except SR 2 and 4. For power unyielding blast is kind of obvious (really nice against mesmers, MM, when ppl are ressing) but than I’m not sure between soul marks and vital persistence. One would give me more LF and the other would decrease it’s decay. Currently I’m using vital persistence but 12% more LF seems really good too. Thoughts?
Second, my new spectral build. SR 2 is already equipped with spectral mastery. (Obvious) but than I’m not sure about SR 4 again. I don’t need soul marks because I already have soo many ways of getting LF (WH 5, spectral skills, dagger, curses 2, staff auto, golem dying, etc) but than I’m stuck between UB and VP. I have lots of LF regen so staying in DS longer would be good, but vuln on auto A would be good too. Thoughts?
I’ve run around hotjoints with different combinations of the traits but one combo doesn’t feel much Better than the other….
Any input appreciated.

Just tried 0/4/4/06 shatter condi mesmer and rolled my face over the keyboard while stealthed and won. Very fun, but horribly OP. I’ll playing that for a couple of days, than gonna try godmode with ranger, maybe give guard a try but than it’s back to my powermancer because nothing beats a good powermancer. (As in ‘nothing beats a warm bowl of soup on a cold day’ I’m not saying no one beats me :P)

I just hope deaths embrace isn’t involved because than a terrormancer (fully buffed could do 2.5k every tick, for 3 seconds, on a 10 second cooldown. But thank god it isn’t.
So yea I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a bug or someting because he had no might stacks at all :/
So in WvW i ran into this necro who feared me for 2k in a SINGLE tick. According to the scaling he must have had around 4200 condition damage. This happened right after he got downed… Here is the fight

And that is also how it is intended to be, go to the gw2 wiki an look it up. Dancing dagger (thief dagger 4) looks like a Marjory dagger and some other skills too.
Yes just got it, and I love it. At first I was like WTF where is my LB than I saw the mini dagger and liked it. Just a little almost unoticable dagger doing 4k dmg on auto attack is just plain awesome xD
Now people are so much less likely to see it and I already got a whisper asking me what hit him…. Love it

I operate under the hope that arena net do actually read these forums and are interested in our feedback.
I would love someone from arena net to actually post in one of these forums just to let us know that they are listening and care about what we say.
In saying the above it appears to me that they are more likely to make small changes to the class rather then anything significant( this may come later during an expac- hopefully)
So following the above guidelines and following the layout below, list 3 things 1 or 2 sentences to keep it simple and easy to read.
1. Add an attack/follow and stop functions to minions.
2. Allow a % of healing to work in death shroud
3. Reduce the cast times of dagger 2 and 3.
IF you want to add more detail do so after listing your 3 changes. Try not to make it groundbreaking because it won’t happen.
As i said maybe just maybe if we keep this clean organised and with little changes they might listen.

mhh, as a necro it will help you more than it will hurt. I think I’m getting it because im tired of my LB looking like a giant mucus ball.
It’s a terrible trait. Most people know it gives more than one stack but it is still terrible. That’s because the last thing you need when at low health is more damage. Furthermore, your not going to realistically get more than 5 stacks unless multiple people are hitting you in which case you are dead anyway. Furthermore, if you save up death shroud to use this trait to its max effectiveness your not using death shroud properly. It is one of the worst traits in the game and what you posted changes none of that.

I read that thread, at most 3 people didn’t understand the trait fully. Reread it yourself and you’ll see most people know exactly what the trait does. Also, I understand what you did. I explained why what you said doesn’t justify how bad the trait is. Maximizing this traits effect is a death sentence. Also, you stated your opinion at the top the traits is good. That isn’t even remotely true as I explained.
Most people didn’t get, no one corrected the guy who made the thread or said “that is not how it works”. Also, I said HOW to maximize the effect of this trait (below 25%, In full DS, against fast hitting target) not that you SHOULD. And didn’t you see the question mark? …good? = as in stating with the right things could be usefull to some extent. But yes, it’s a horrible trait, (but again) I was merely showing how it work because
