Can't move L80 boost _between_ shared slots

Illconceived Was Na.9781

How do you know it’s an independent slot? Do you have actual code insight or is this an assumption based on something I’ve missed in the API?

I don’t know — I said it works as if it were.

See also:

The boosts stack into a single spot, which can’t be moved. So regardless of whether it is or isn’t a shared slot, it behaves as if it’s something different.

So you can choose to optimize how your “shared” bar looks or when you consume the L80 booster; unfortunately we can’t have both.

And again, that’s why when I bought HoT, I “wasted” the booster on an existing L80 — I wanted the slot more than I wanted to optimize the booster.

While I will probably use it on a dummy character I’ll play later on soon, it doesn’t correct the misleading error message either way.

Of course, it’s worth reporting misleading error messages. However, I’ve long given up hope that any software will consistently provide anything better than vaguely useful error messages.

The classic case is of a brand new shiny Tesla, with all the amazing self-diagnosing heuristics. It runs into a tree, the engine case is cracked, and the onboard computer helpfully informs you: “out of oil” — while true, it’s besides the point.

My main advice is: take your time. Rushing puts pressure on you that most people don’t need in a game. And often, people burn out — instead of enjoying their new shiny, they are exhausted and want a break. Push yourself some? Sure, just keep a measured pace.

For example, I’m not a big fan of map completion, so I limit myself to no more than one map a night and no more than a few nights of mapping per week. It takes me 3-4x as long as some people, but I find I’m generally 3-4x happier about the process too.

There have been numerous threads on the topic and the discussion always is the same. Proponents always insist that this should be easy and critics point out that ANet has said it’s not.

The short story is that it’s just really hard to reset a character at all, never mind its race. That makes it a bad option on which to spend resources, since there are other things that people also want competing for dev attention.

I’m not saying it’s hard or not, but Anet had quite a few pretty lame excuses in the past for various things. “Can’t seperate PvE skills from PvP, because we don’t want to confuse people” is just one example.

They aren’t saying race change would be confusing or bad for players; they are saying that it’s a lot of work without much benefit.

Within the last year. I’m surprised that you’re surprised — changing the rendering engine is a business decision based on cost and benefit: the cost of retooling is always huge; the benefits are more modest than most people think.

Perhaps I can clarify a bit more. On some of these previous issues, such as mounts, the people that were against mounts were backed by Anet’s stance against mounts. There was always the assumption that such things would never be in game due to Anet expressing a lack of interest of talks of technical limitations, which bolstered the arguments of players against having these things in game.

Since these changes have been making their way into the game despite previous assertions, it suggests that other ideas that previously seemed far fetched or absurd could also make it in game, thus making it easier to ignore those that claim that such changes are impossible or will never happen.

All you’re saying is that some people have irrational reasons for being for or against certain features. That was true last week; it’s true this week; and it will be true next week. All that mounts being added to the game means is that… GW2 has mounts; it is not an argument in favor of any other feature.

WvW & PvP are fundamentally different game modes from PvE. Raids and Fractals are instanced versions of PvE.

You can do 100% raids & fractals and get good loot; that didn’t used to be true for WvW or PvP, which is why they have reward tracks. So again, in my opinion, the reason there’s no such thing as a track for those playing FotM or Raids is that it isn’t necessary.

So I guess we can go back to asking for anything now, and just ignore the naysayers. What’s next? Capes? Built in open world voice channels?

How is this different from last week? Those who wanted mounts asked for them before. There are people asking for new races most weeks, people asking for … well, you name it.

Ask for whatever you’d like to be in the game. ANet doesn’t decide based on whether something is in WoW or not; they add features based on whether it makes the game fun (enough so that they can sell more copies + more gems).

The difference being back then people against mounts for instance would immediately post the dead horse gif and talk about how it will never happen, and at the time it seemed Anet agreed with that sentiment. Now that all these changes have happened though, hoping for these other cool changes to come into the game isn’t so crazy, it’s an actual possibility.

BTW everyone is bring up WoW quite a bit. That wasn’t really the main point at all, feel like some people didn’t really read everything. Was just stating that it was a common counter argument used on here, never said that I in any way agreed with it or that I thought it had any impact on what Anet decides to do. It was pretty much the equivalent of dismissing people in PvP with a “git gud” or “l2p” remark.

Yeah, no. Some people like to post a meme or trope rather than actually thinking about the answer. People want race change, which isn’t going to happen for entirely different reasons, but it’s not a “dead horse” — people want it.

So again, I ask: what exactly is different this week from last? This company has always added stuff that other games consider basic. And people are still going to ask for stuff that they want, regardless of economic or business concerns.

I suppose some people will copy & paste the “yeah but you said mounts would never happen, so why not…” as a new meme, but… that’s not really meaningfully different from people posting gifs of someone beating a dead horse instead of offering to discuss.

tl;dr this wasn’t WoW last week; it’s not WoW this week. It’s always going to be GW2, with its own personality.

The devs have actually offered an opinion on this topic before. They’ve said that the amount of work required to update the renderer makes it unrealistic to expect major changes before a GW3. They aren’t as big as any of the studios you mentioned; those firms can afford to invest in new engines because the costs can be amortized over many titles. ANet has just the one.

That doesn’t meant that they’ll never do it. It just makes it extremely unlikely given that they are trying to release US$30 expansions every 18 months or so.

Discord has speech to text support as well if I am not mistaken…

But yes, limitations exist, as in all things.

TTS helps people who are mute (or don’t like using microphones); it’s not really useful for those who are deaf, unless all the hearing folks type everything, which (for most hearing) defeats the advantage of using VoIP during 5- or 10-person content

For the OP, I don’t really see that there’s merit to the complaint. It’s not realistic to expect all hearing folk to make things harder on themselves by typing when they could be talking. It’s really hard to type-warn people that a fourth is needed for a green circle if you’re busy dodging.

You’ll just have to find folks such as myself who are as comfortable typing during intense combat as we are with VoIP.

Open World and Instanced reward Tracks

Illconceived Was Na.9781

PvE already has reward tracks:

  • Dailies in each LS3 zone provide extra local currency plus unbound.
  • Major events in L3 zones provide local currency + unbound.
  • HoT events provide tons of local currency.
  • And of course, gathering in LS3 zones.
  • Core Tyria zones literally have an event-reward track, which can also be bypassed by spending karma on Pact Scout Mapping Materials, allowing you to show up in a zone, double click a few times, and collect.

Will people read the post before responding, please… I get I put in a tldr, but read the post before pointing out things I’m speaking directly against. Yes, PvE has a all of that. But, sadly, Fractals and Raids are part of PvE. Yet if we only run fractals and Raids, like someone who runs PvP or WvW, we lose out on the rest of the PvE “Game Mode” that PvP and WvW get as tracks. PvE is made up of Open World and Instanced content. Those who play open world get their Season 3 stuff every day. Those of us who play the instances every day are in the same boat as PvP and WvW players, but without tracks we are further in the hole. Not everyone who plays in PvE likes to play the open world yet we are punished for only playing Fractals, dungeons, and raids in a way that PvP and WvW are not.

What I’m actually asking for is “Fractal and Raid tracks”, but can’t say that because then I’d have to argue, because people wouldn’t read, that I’m not asking for a fractal or raid track for WvW and PvP, but rather tracks for Fractals and Raids that work the same as PvP and WvW tracks.

I read your tl;dr and I’m telling you why I think PvE doesn’t need it — it’s already easy to get those things in PvE. Fractals & raids already have excellent economic rewards, unique skins, and other benefits and they aren’t a sufficiently different mode that they need the boost.

Autoloot & PoF definitive answer please, ANet

Illconceived Was Na.9781

  • The core game is included in all expansions.
  • Access to masteries is included in all expansions, albeit different ones.
  • AoE looting is a core mastery, not specifically tied to HoT

While it’s possible that ANet might skip the last step and make core Tyria masteries tied to HoT, I can’t see how or why. It would be more work for them to do that, not less.

but the aoe loot ability in WvW (provisions) is tied to HoT. the line itself even unlocks HoT recipe purchases.

would be interested to know if it will be available for only PoF owners, or if HoT is a must for the WvW side at least.

I don’t understand your point — there was no other expansion before & they wanted it locked from core/free players. It would be simple to change the ‘lock’ to “any expansion” and add separate tabs for HoT, PoF.

But regardless, that has nothing to do with the core Tyria mastery line — core comes with PoF.

Again, it’s possible that they might have done something different, but only in the sense that anything is possible.

There are the things that changed the game for me:

  • Shared Inventory Slots: gives every character access to the stuff you use ever day. I’ve got the max number of slots and I have enough routinely-used items to fill up another full set.
  • Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic. Everything generates loot and most of that is most easily dealt with by salvaging.
  • Infinite-use gathering tools are, combined with the shared inventory, a huge inventory and time saver for me.
  • Extra Character Slots — I’ve never felt I’ve had too many, but I only buy 1-2 and only when they are on sale at 400 or 600 gems (usual price: 800). They can collect birthday presents, JP loot, or a sit at a tree or other node farm. Plus, additional storage.

We can never return to the jungle

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Illconceived Was Na.9781

We have officially left the jungle forever. Since PoF can be had without HoT, NOTHING going forward can ever go anywhere that is part of HoT or S3, because there will be people who lack access. That is very sad. We can never go to Rata Novus, never return and see Dragon Stand after the death of Mordremoth, never return to Tarir. It’s all gone,

There are all sorts of ways that ANet could have us visit Rata Novus as part of the story, regardless of whether someone owns HoT or not. The easiest is obviously story instances, just the same as we return to Old LA.

And regardless, you can return any time you like by taking another character through HoT/LS3. People who don’t own HoT can’t “return” because they’ve never been.

The daily Small bag of spirit shards was like that before feb, 22th update then they fixed it to work inside PvP lobby and matches.

I think Anet restricted the use of all items like food, toys and bags inside PvP to prevent people from abusing them, they allowed some harmless loot bags and crates to open but forgot about the others and the Black Lion Material Bag is one of them.

I posted this because some PvP players spend all the time inside the lobby and they don’t want to leave it just to open one material bag.

Best suggestion to increase outfit sales

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

“You just have to separate them” — yes, that’s the part that takes time. The reason ANet can spit out the extra outfits is because they aren’t separated.

You literally open the outfit in a 3D editor, select anything that isn’t the part you want and press delete. Maybe smooth the edges a bit and that’s it. Depending on the data format importing and exporting the outfit to the editor takes longer than the actual editing.

You think it’s that easy and ANet is simply refusing to do it? That’s an interesting theory, but it’s not supported by the evidence.

Illconceived Was Na.9781

The link points to Chris Cleary saying the following on Reddit:

Good questions here, but nothing I haven’t already answered. I’ll go ahead and rebump previous info given out here.

ArenaNet authorizes the use and development of 3rd Party tools under the banner of a “DPS Meter”. “DPS Meters” is defined as the collection and processing of combat related data in order to develop a statistical and visual representation of that data. This combat data maybe [sic] collected from anyone inside of your immediate social group. Social groups are defined as including the player character, and current party and/or squad.

Combat data does not include current entity status, including current Buffs/Debuffs/Health/Stats/Location or any other data that is not generated due to the usage of skills or impact on player characters due to skill usage (by the PC/s or an outside source).

The collection and processing of data in the client must be limited to the scope of the “DPS meter” and should not exceed it. Visualization of this data must also limited to the scope of the “DPS Meter” which includes visualizations, logging, and processing/visualization of logging.

I highlighted the relevant part of the statement (since most of it doesn’t apply). I stand corrected: CptAurellian was correct. (I’ll also edit my previous posts.)

  • There are 216 mastery points for HoT zones; it takes 144 to max.
  • There are 78 points for core and it takes 49 to max.

But each of those points also comes with AP and sometimes other rewards, so it’s not as if someone goes the extra mile/km without anything to show for it. Even a completionist does it to, you know, complete things.

The main point is that the excess is specifically intended to give us options about what we do to unlock. As long as ANet believes that having options is better than making people feel forced to unlock them all, they aren’t going to offer non-mastery sinks for the points.

as long as it […] only shows DPS for others using DPS meters.

Unless I missed something, I think this part is wrong. Party/squad members are fine no matter whether they use a meter or not, afaik.

They specifically said otherwise. The system is “opt in” and you can’t “opt in” by accident. If you use a DPS meter, then you’re saying you’re fair game for sharing your DPS data.

Simply joining a squad/party isn’t enough, since that’s required to raid/fractal (and a practical requirement of many open world metas, although of course not technically required). Otherwise, the system would be “opt out,” i.e. the obligation would be on the part of those not wanting their DPS to be read to find out if someone else is doing that.

That said, the existing DPS meters can, under ANet’s rules, do a good job of guesstimating the DPS & buffs of non-users. So for all practical purposes, it’s moot.

I stand corrected; CptAurellian is correct. I apologize for remembering what was said in the past instead of ANet’s more recent policy update. (Thanks delta-c for linking the quote.)

Regardless, in their current “official” state, BGdm and ArcDPS are considered ok-to-use.

  • Exalted 4 improves your rewards from the Octovine meta event.
  • Itzel 6 gives you access to adrenal mushrooms — that allows you to reset all your skills and the shrooms themselves reset fairly quickly. This makes them ridiculously OP in some fights, especially if you go solo. There’s usually a few near each hero point.
  • Ancient for Siren’s 1-2-3-4 is required to finish the story for LS3.6. The #2 skill is needed to finish map completion (at least, without help from mesmers), and that includes unlocking some of the mastery points there.

If you never go into HoT or LS3 zones, then it won’t matter and you can just sit on the 12. If you sometimes visit, then which of those is most useful depends on which zones. I hope that helps.

but their is the ingame dps meter as well that does very good at its job . and really no need at all to check others dps at all in this game . besides all it does is just make more unneeded problems as a whole in general

It’s not clear what will happen with bgdm in September. Its developer said they no longer wish to work on it (new RL priorities etc). They might find someone else to take over.

Also, there are other DPS meters. arc and bg are just the most popular (and probably the most feature-rich, too).

Personally, I’d hate to see adventure:

  • They take people out of the MMO part of the game.
  • They run the same regardless of profession.
  • If I wanted to play console games, I would, you know, buy a console.

However, there’s no question that some people love having these in the game. So, I sort of hope that ANet hasn’t wasted the time developing the tech for these only to drop them already.

Have to agree with this. Do you remember when SAB dropped. There were a few more people in one corner of Rata Sum, but the net effect was emptying the world—never a good thing.

Any new content will do the exact same thing until players get bored of it or it goes away (such as with festivals).

Instead, I’d focus on the major complaint from those against adventures in HoT which was with mastery points tied to them. They could have bronze and silver give mastery points with gold reserved for unique rewards. I’m sure that would satisfy many people from both sides.

The difference between adventures and the rest of “any new content” is adventures are designed to be solo and be exactly the same every time. Whereas “any new content” is designed for 5, 10, or 100+ people.

Given that they are in the game and given that ANet gives us a decent surplus of mastery points, I’m not personally bothered by some unlocks being tied to adventures (despite the fact that I don’t like them).

The “3 am” method no longer applies. It made sense when server status was based on how many people assigned to each world, tempered by how many online right now. So, at off-peak hours, a full world would briefly show as “very high.”

However, that hasn’t been true for ages.

The current system looks only at WvW participation. In the extreme, server A can have 10x as many people as server B, but if no one on A plays, its status would be “low” while B might be full, if half of its pop played WvW often. Further, these participation levels are measured over weeks and months, and averaged out, weighting recent weeks more heavily.

In addition, ANet manually tweaks the status to “decap” some servers — by preventing people from transferring, the numbers will drop due to attrition, allowing participation levels on each server to balance out better. (It’s not a very efficient method, but it probably beats forcing people to move.)

As a result, server status doesn’t change on an hourly basis; it changes very slowly over long periods of time. The reason that Fridays (after reset) are sometimes good is that’s when ANet would remove any manual adjustments.

tl;dr there is no longer any “best time” to try to transfer. If your target world is full today, check again next week. Or just keep refreshing the relevant wiki page to see.

Plus what everyone mentioned above: worlds only matter for WvW; if you only PvE, PvP, or Raid, your choice of world won’t matter at all, for practical purposes.

Personally, I’d hate to see adventures in PoF:

  • They take people out of the MMO part of the game.
  • They run the same regardless of profession.
  • If I wanted to play console games, I would, you know, buy a console.

However, there’s no question that some people love having these in the game. So, I sort of hope that ANet hasn’t wasted the time developing the tech for these only to drop them already.

Race change! please for the love of god

Nope, never going to happen. Get over it, buy a new slot simple as that.

LOL…..people used to say that about mounts too (never say never)

The reasons people said mounts wouldn’t happen was based in design & psychology: in effect, people thought ANet didn’t want them because (they thought) not enough of the community wanted them.

The reasons people say that race change won’t happen are economics, nothing to do with opinion. Changing race involves dealing with a lot of complex mechanics behind the scenes, including progress in the personal story — there’s simply no easy way to reset it, let alone adapt it.

That makes it extremely costly in resources, without offering much to the entire community. Lots of people have no interest in race change contracts and we already have a viable work-around: new character slots, which surely aren’t going to be more expensive than a race-change contract.

In short, people say that race-change (and a new race) aren’t likely because of the costs, not because of anyone’s desire to see them (or not see them) in the game.

There are 5-year old posts about mounts — should they be deleted? 5-year old posts about adding build templates — should ANet purge those? 4-year old posts about the original living world — I hope you don’t want the history of its pros & cons to be removed.

And it’s quite instructive to realize that people thought elementalists were bad at DPS 5 years ago (people just hadn’t figured out how to use them efficiently) or that mesmers were useless in 5-person content (i.e. dungeons, also before folks had learned the utility of all that prof’s utilities).

Seems like a lot of work to remove stuff we can already filter out: each post contains its age, in clear, red lettering.

Harvest Cascades, Lake Doric

It’s a general bug, affecting everyone. It’s almost surely related to a bug with the lighting in Noran’s Safe Room, the area directly blue the Harvest Cascades. Normally, NSR should be dark, requiring a torch to navigate. Since then, it’s been very bright in places, which might be putting strain on everyone’s graphics.

A good thing to do to help ANet troubleshoot is to use the in-game /bug reporting tool — that gives them specific information about the location(s) that are affected by the screen stuttering.

(Of course, it’s easier said than done — with the various invasions & defenses & ghost suppression, it can be difficult to stay out-of-combat for the 2-3 minutes it takes to post.)

Best suggestion to increase outfit sales

Go back and see what they’ve said about outfits. You still are missing the entire reason they exist is because they don’t bring any of the baggage of pieces. There is simply no difference between what you describe and having armor pieces.

Yes, and my point is, they need to have more armor pieces.

No, they really don’t need to. You want them to (and to be fair, you’re hardly alone — I’d love to see more, too). You just aren’t prepared to accept that wanting things isn’t enough.

I’m not saying that this would be easy, I’m saying that this is necessary, whether it is easy or not. Whatever reasons they have for doing Outfits instead of armor, they are not good enough to only have Outfits instead of armor. They need to get over those reasons.

You don’t “get over” cost:benefit. It’s an actual business issue figuring out how to determine the best game that makes them enough money that they can keep on making the game.

Honestly, if it was that easy, do you really think that it’s never occurred to them to try this? Do you think this is the first time it’s been suggested? Do you think they like being constantly criticized for the slowness of releasing armor pieces?

Which is why, over the past several years, they should have been moving Heaven and Earth behind the scenes to make this happen. They shouldn’t need us to keep prodding them over it.

No, they really shouldn’t be moving Heaven & Earth, because that’s a terrible use for their limited resources. Should they be figuring out how to get out of the hole they dug for themselves with armor skins? Sure … and they are.

But you make it sound like it’s like someone deciding to stop smoking, that it’s just a matter of will power (which isn’t always true for all smokers, but that’s a different discussion). It might never be cost effective in GW2 to do this and that, by itself, won’t ruin the game (it will hamper its growth and success, sure; it won’t kill the game).

If they move Heaven & Earth to change the setup, then they’ll risk the disappointment of HoT, which was an expac that offered a lot of new underling mechanics, but not enough content for a lot of folks.

A rant about karma

in Players Helping Players

Illconceived Was Na.9781

If the karma cost is too low, then those so-called loyally-playing folks would just drop karma and it would be over. No pain and they wouldn’t much value what they got.

If it’s too high, folks like you can’t afford it anytime soon. And have to choose between existing uses for karma and this.

Seems to me that 315k is a reasonable balance, especially since each of these are infused backpacks.

Here are some cost comparisons that might interest you:

  • Other backpacks cost 90-130 gold; infusing runs another 80g in ecto, for a total around 200 gold.
  • Veterans can monetize karma at a rate of about 10-20 silver per 1000 karma, so 315k is worth less than 50 gold.
  • A full exotic armor set costs around 420k karma, as does a full set of exotic trinkets + back.

So 315k is probably a bargain for each ascended/infused back, even if it feels to you that you’ll never have enough karma to afford it.

Eh, sometimes stuff like seems obvious to ANet, and not to us. Or sometimes, we think something is obviously OK, and ANet has a cow about it.

In this case, there’s still a pretty severe limit on how many times we can open chests: we have to do the hearts on each toon, which means it’s never going to be a quick way to get loot.

But, you assume wrong. The native weight of Outfit armor is neither Heavy, Medium, nor Light. It is its own weight. Which is the issue with mixing it with any existing armor(s).

I don’t think that’s true. Have you seen an official source on that? Making them have their own weight would seem to be inefficient to me. My assumption to this point is that each outfit uses one of the existing weights, whichever one matches the shape they’re trying to achieve. Obviously this doesn’t prevent players from wearing the Outfit doing their own weight class, but I think if you put a Warrior in an Outfit with a “light weight skeleton,” then it’s just a Warrior in a light armor skin.

The real problems with mixing and matching in the current model is that the chests and legs are hard to mix and match, because the waistlines are often in different locations from weight to weight.

Ohoni, what you’ve just described is cutting up the outfits into armor pieces and making 6 different armor pieces from them. This is exactly what they’ve said takes them far too long to do: making armor sets.

Yes, and they need to get over that. If it takes them “too long” then they need to take that time regardless. It’s better to have one 6-piece armor set than to have ten one-piece outfits.

But I do accept they are telling the truth that for whatever reason, they cannot feasibly churn out armor pieces using the armor rigging as coded.

But my point is, after five years, they’ve let that flaw lay too long. It’s past time to fix it. If that means completely rebuilding their rigging systems and hand-tweaking every existing armor set in the game, then that’s what they need to do. There is absolutely no excuse that remains adequate.

Remember, the outfits don’t have pieces. They are a seamless cover.

Breaking the outfits into pieces shouldn’t take an extraordinary amount of time. It might not be an automatic process, but in 3D modeling terms it’s not a huge deal to snap one bit off from the rest and clean up the edges a bit. If it is at all difficult, then it’s only because they lacked foresight when originally modelling them and boxed themselves into a corner, and the players should not have to suffer for that.

Go back and see what they’ve said about outfits. You still are missing the entire reason they exist is because they don’t bring any of the baggage of pieces. There is simply no difference between what you describe and having armor pieces.

Honestly, if it was that easy, do you really think that it’s never occurred to them to try this? Do you think this is the first time it’s been suggested? Do you think they like being constantly criticized for the slowness of releasing armor pieces?

As if most things in WoW aren’t borrowed or modified tropes from older games or literature. Gods of War are often representing with fire and big weapons; I don’t really see how WoW has a monopoly on the idea.

what happened to dungeons?

Illconceived Was Na.9781

Regardless of the merits, regardless of whether one thinks that there are important distinctions between fractals and dungeons, ANet decided that they weren’t going to pursue them further.

Working on existing dungeons turned out to be complicated, even just to fix the “obvious” bugs. They decided to start from scratch and set up fractals to be easier to extend & maintain.

That means it’s unlikely to ever be the best use of dev time to add dungeons, since they’d have to further divide their teams and maintain even more different bits of the game.

Well since fractals are in the mists they can be past present or future or even possible futures.
So I see no reason why your two examples cant be inside a fractal.

The current agony system makes fractals uncomfortably restrictive, though. One of my favourite things about dungeons is the ability to take all of my alts though to see which ones fit each path best. It’d cost hundreds of gold just for enough agony infusions to do the same in fractals.

Agony infusions are removable at a cost of 24s. You can use potions to get through much of Tier 2, so you can get a decent idea of what to expect without worrying much about AR.

Hi, thanks for your answer,

You’re welcome

I was so stressed about that

Don’t be. It’s very rare for ANet to punish an individual for accidentally finding a loophole in requirements (aka an exploit). They have only ever gone after people who do things repeatedly (or brag about bypassing the rules).

Of course, better to worry too much about it than not enough; it never hurts to take a little time to ask here or in-game.

but doesn’t it make the success " open 10 chests" a little bit easy ?

It makes it easier, but not easy. You still have to complete all the hearts at least 5 times if you pay for the extra “roll” or 10 times if you don’t. This just changes it from being time-gated to being effort-gated — and that, in my opinion, is better for the game.
