I’m waiting and kinda anxious to see “them” bring agony into the open world at some point.

I have a question Anet, how long to get first precursor, i had 4500hours to play this game, tell me
I got my first today after 5K+ hrs of gameplay, bought 50 lvl80 rare greatswords at a little over 57 gold and got dusk on the 10th MF roll, so i’m amazed to say that it does happen.

I understand that development changes, plans change, due dates change, but it’s because of such a lack of communication that this is a problem. They make a big blog post that lots of MMO websites link to detailing what will be coming in 2013, everyone hears about it and it gets really hyped up, and then some of it doesn’t happen. Sure, this is okay, plans and development change, but the way they communicated this with us was terrible, not everyone is going to see a reply from Arenanet in a single forum post saying that it probably won’t be coming in 2013, thus causing the problem of communication. If they are going to hype something up really big and make everyone hear about it, when plans change they need to make that information just as visible.
Except that a roadmap isn’t hype. They laid out plans and said plans might change. That’s not hype. That’s not even close to hype. If you took what was said at face value, they said they had plans that may change. If you can get hyped about that, more power to you.
They gave us, as I’ve said, other stuff which was just as important. Sure it’s not the same stuff. They specifically said in a post (I don’t have a quote handy) that the stuff they had been planning with the precusors wouldn’t have worked with other changes they made to the game. It’s back to the drawing board.
Are you kidding? How can you say this blog post wasn’t intended to generate hype? It was at a time in the game where we didn’t have a lot of permanent content, and people were getting frustrated, they wanted to put the player base to ease and get them all excited for a bunch of new cool stuff coming out in the next few months.
And yeah, they did give us other stuff, cool stuff, megaserver, the wardrobe system, and that’s okay, I’m not sitting here saying that just because they said we will be getting stuff within the next X amount of time then we HAVE to get it, because I know that development and plans change, which is what they’ve told us happened.
My problem is there hasn’t been much communication about it, it’s something a lot of people are eager for, and we’ve got no idea if it’s coming out this year, next year, the year after, for something that was supposed to come out last year, I think we deserve a bit more information on what’s going on.
Right so let’s look at the whole iterative thing. A company knows they change plans like all the time. It’s how they work. They’ve said it. We should all know it by now.
Then the fans say, but you’re not communicating. You don’t tell us your plans. So they tell us their plans even though they say plans may change, which is what happened.
Do you not recall people pushing them to give us more info, cause I do. They’re kitten ed if they do and kitten ed if they don’t. They give us info too early and it changes and they’re liars, right? They give us no info and they don’t communicate. They give us info and say it’s subject to change and guess what? They’re liars again.
Do you think that’s reasonable…because I sure don’t.
Tell me, in your estimation, which should a creative, iterative company do, if they make plans but don’t always stick to that plan?
BUT, they could tell us about these changes before its released too, that also isn’t done.

This isn’t correct, I have the “Digital Deluxe version” and I’m FAR FROM RICH.

Yep, hearing about it actually got me to play gw1 again after putting it down a good long time ago. In a couple of months I was able to grind from 13 or so points to 31 (I just wanted the skins/pets). It brought back a lot of good memories, and I love my firey sword for my warrior and the white raven pet for my ranger.
Also, gw1 is not a “beginner version” of gw2. They are very different games, and I think some things in gw1 better and some things better in gw2.
The portion I bolded I vote the best statement ever made about GW2.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
I totally agree with this. This is one of the first things I did when I installed the game! The default settings is rubbish you can barely turn to kill anything at all!
The setting can be found at: Options > Camera > Rotation Speed.
TY, just set mine at approximately 33%, ? the way and find that ideal for me, tx again.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Yep the lagg is EXTREMELY BAD today, the worst to date.

Where is this setting located, please?
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Ohhh, it’s the game alright.

If you have 5k hours in this game, over the last two years, of course there’s not going to be anything to do. No developer in the world could ever make enough content for you.
Ever play WoW? Everyone takes a break for months until the new content comes out. Happens all the time.
I’d like to know where this mythical game is that has more content and keeps coming out with more content that can keep someone with 5000 hours happy.
My guess is only a sandbox MMO can do that, where content is continually created by playing it. Themepark MMOs will never support 5000 hours in two years.
GW1 did. Still playing it to this day 8+ years later.

“They” need to do something, like making each LS update larger because the FAR FROM CASUAL players have nothing more to do once done, as it is EVERYTHING can be done and finished with in 3 to 5 hours leaving us with nothing to do until the next TINY LS update.

Why don’t people use them as soon as they get? I never have more than 20
Some people don’t even open champ bags right away … there is no right or wrong?
Just use a auto clicker and set ur mouse to double click every .01 sec on the item it hoovers over.
ANET already said in the forums that AUTO-CLICKERS are against the ToS and is a bannable offense and you just admitted to using one.
Find me the post or ur just bulling. What game play advantage does it provide and hows it any different than a 3rd party program that lets u scroll click. What is anet gonna do, go head hunting for ppl that uses out of ordinary keyboard.
Its their fault for not implementing something even a brain dead person can though up of. The ability to use a quality amount. You could look for it yourself or just take your chances, just remember you were informed when the inevitable happens.
Like anet stores everyone’s mouse clicks server side…
Map your left click to a key and hold the key down. Little difference.
I DID bind left click to a key on my keyboard to save my last mouse(4 dead mice because of this) and still must double-press key to activate, I can’t just hold the key down.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
If you don’t want them just put them in your inventory then click-drag them out of your inventory into open air and drop, click ok and POOF GONE.

ITT: people that do not understand how RNG and probability works (again).
Do an experiment – assume some chance of getting a prec out of forging/drop/whatever. Assume a large number of tries – (1000 forges, for example). Start crunching numbers for 0 precursors chance, 1 prec chance, 2 precs, 3, 4, 5…. Then compare that to GW2 population numbers.
After you see the results, i bet your outlook on cursed/lucky accounts will change radically.I maybe get three exotics a month if I play a lot. Rares are quite ok, I get around 4 to ten in a week.
Here is another problem. I get more rares daily just out of guaranteed (no rng involved) drops. It’s not surprising, that people that buy more tickets end up with better chance at winning something in the lottery. Lot of people seem to forget about this aspect as well, however, and somehow assume that people that get large number of good drops get them due to some “luck” shenanigans, and not simply because they play in a way that offers them way more chances for those drops.
Basically, the difference between “lucky” and “unlucky” accounts is covered well enough by difference in attempts, and by RNG variation.
Note the part I bolded and underlined in your statement, this is wrong because these gauranteed items ARE affected by RNG in that it could be a higher valued rare or even an exotic you could have gotten.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
not sure what that means… elaborate please?
Diseregard what Mada said. What you do sinceyou’re not commited to the characters you now have just salvage/sell/discard EVERYTHING you have and put in your bank then DELETE all those characters, then start over like you just got the game and choose the server you want, there will be no fee incurred doing this. HTH

New gem shop stuff? Surprise, surprise. We haven’t seen a whole new set available outside the gem shop since the beginning. That’s quite unbelievable, really.

Hi Anet I have 4x[250 Essence of Luck], Can I use them by clicking only 4 times instead of ONE THOUSAND CLICKS!!!?
Make that 2000 clicks since it takes double-clicking to use.

anyone else wish that since mega server that guilds aren’t bound to a server. my guild has been recruiting and because of mega servers we are getting players who are on a different servers who cant accesses the guild stuff we have unlock because its bound to one server
They are trying to fix this and hoping to have it done by the end of the year, HOPEFULLY.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
They already got the assassin armor in the gem store.. can we PLEASE have SOMETHING to earn in game???
You do and can by using gold to convent into gems to buy gems store items. This is the advantages of having a money system over a token system you can do any thing you want in the game and still work to getting something you want. If it was a token system you would only be able to do one event over and over till you get to the item you want.
LOL, the gem store and TP isn’t the game, it’s a PART OF the game yes, but, the game in itself is where your out in the field playing, most people don’t play the gem store or TP, although, some do.

WE DO NOT NEED PLAYER HOUSING!
We don’t need new content either. That’s just different looks for the same type of content. Or new gear…or just anything really.
But we WANT housing. We want it ever since Anet promised to add it to the game, and then didn’t.
Player housing, guild halls and…GvG already!
Do you have a link to this SUPPOSED promise for housing?

“Kormir”
Yah okay, good one you guys. Next thing you’ll be telling me is that we lost the Guild Wars.
Well Kormir IS a god, and before her it was Abaddon. There have always been Six Gods.
And funny that you should mention the Guild Wars, because humans actually DID lose the Guild Wars (which were human-only btw) due to the Charr invasions.
Some people just don’t know the GW lore. There ARE 6 gods.

well, it kind of is, every programming language we use is a tool created by a programmer to automate or make it easier for a user to create outputs. But the question really is, does it matter?
A programmer will use them languages to create a program. For example, Microsoft creating Windows.
If the user uses that program to make a change in the code, that doesn’t necessarily make them a programmer. For example, changing the colour scheme of the desktop.
The person has changed the code, but it in no way makes them a programmer.
Going back to the previous example, the programmer makes the program for the user to use in order to create and edit the number component of skills.
The user enters the details of the skill (Name, description, range, coefficients, activation time, channel duration ect) and clicks a button that creates that component of the skill.
However, they didn’t actually do any programming in the sense of writing a program, or coding the skill. The program they used did all of that for them, and therein lies the difference.
Now, if Mudborne was talking about programming in the sense of altering how the skill works i.e programming it’s attributes, they’d be right.
However, they specifically mentioned about altering the code. Using a tool such as that to alter the code, when the person doesn’t have any interaction with the actual code itself, is not programming.
In the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t really matter on our end. At the same time, they made a comment about how they don’t think the programmers are qualified in a discussion about balance, without fully understanding how the balance teams go about balancing and altering skills. If you don’t need any programming knowledge to do that job, it kind of makes his comment wrong.
So you wanna say that for example editing my own website with the help of a wysiwyg html editor (because I lack knowledge of an actual programming language) isnt actually programming?
IMO, I call that pre-programed programing, if that makes sense.

The gold spam was getting worse, everyone complained about how bad the spamming has gotten.
They took extreme measures to remove it, now we are complaining some more.
I didn’t ever see anything stating that they’ve taken new measures to stop gold spammers. The suppression thing has been like this since I started playing.
It is at least 10X worse now than it was in the beginning.

Blindly following a company that is ignoring 2/4 of their customers is not worth buying gems at all. CDI was just damage control. If they truly gave a crap about anything they would have done it already. Just look at the Sarcx video about how the dev’s raged over the critics comments to their ideas and ways to the pvp and wvw systems.
Anet is in love with their PvE stuff which is not wrong… if they didn’t ignore the other aspects of the game like the pathetic attempt at Esports with the PvP crap that really… is not gunna take off with their current attitude. It is hit or miss atm with them. GvG has actually been trolled by a dev so there is 1/4 of the game, and WvW is just not even looked at, at all anymore so there is the other 1/4.
Ive followed Guild Wars since the beginning of the release and have always love Anet. But now they are just like any other company out there. They have totally lost what made them great in the first place which was a snappy, competitive PvP (GvG etc etc) and a gripping lore backing everything. Now it is just a shadow of its former self and iti is truly disappointing to see them fall down this dark path.
I will keep playing but it will be just like an over priced chat log to me then anything now.
IMO the CDI is/was a FARCE.

How is that not programming? It’s altering the code which IS PROGRAMMING.
From the perspective of the balance team, it’s really not.
It’s like saying you’re scripting JavaScript and HTML because you’re using formatting tags and clicking the quote button – tools created by the web developer to make certain tasks easier for us by automating it.
It’s entering information into a program to adjust the properties of the skill. The balance team themselves don’t interact with the actual code of the tool. They put information into the program, and the program adjusts the code for the user.
In no way is entering information into a program and having the program do the rest of the task programming.
Keep thinking that. I digress.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Makes me and others wonder if “they” are qualified programers.
What’s programming to do with skill balancing?
Changing/altering/adding code(which must be done) is programming.
Changing the functionality of a skill and balancing numbers isn’t anything to do with the programmers.
Tool programmers make tools to allow other devs who don’t program to do these things. If I recall correctly, before launch in an interview lost to time, Colin said that they create and change skills using such a tool.
Saying that the balancing team are programmers is like saying the content developers are programmers, when in fact the game designers don’t actually need to program.
They don’t actually have a job description up now for game designer, but it made mention that you only really needed experience in design and scripting.
It still takes altering code whether by an actual programmer or by an employee with a tool set up to do this alteration by a programmer, so, programming.
While I agree adjusting and adding to a tool is programming – which isn’t actually doing any of the balancing work, it’s changing the tool to adapt to the needs of the balance team – an employee, say, typing 0.9 into a box labelled co-efficient, or 1 into a box labelled activation time isn’t doing any programming and doesn’t need any knowledge of programming.
To say so is just plain wrong. It’s like saying a person can do HTML because they used a website building tool.
How is that not programming? It’s altering the code which IS PROGRAMMING.

Opinion is a personal observation, and cannot be wrong. it can be agreed with or disagreed with.
I’d have said that an opinion is a personal truth – it doesn’t necessarily need to be based on observation. It’s neither, objectively, right or wrong, unless backed up / challenged with hard factual evidence.
Changing/altering/adding code(which must be done) is programming.

THe Yakslapper achievement would take someone about 4-5 years of doing nothing but killing doyalks.
There are a couplehave have gotten Yakslapper already so it’s doable in under 4-5 years.
No one could possibly got even close to have yakslapper.
As of today, game have been out for 674 days.
1 000 000 / 674 = 1483
1483 / 24 = 61So to get yakslapper by today, you would need to average slightly over 1 dolyak kill per minute, 24/7 for 674 days straight, Without taking even a bathroom break.
So yeah, giant slayer is really a walk in the park compared to that.
Then you are saying that the ones who made a post/reply on these boards that they have obtained Yakslapper are lying? Yes this has been talked about before, this isn’t the first.

2. I personally like that each weapon has it’s own individual skills (although I wouldn’t say no to more skills tied to the weapon and the ability to swap skills out). It makes the weapon something more than simply a stat-stick and adds a bit of depth to the character customisation. Not only that, in GW1, there were quite a few skills that were tied to a weapon that you couldn’t use with any other weapon type.
2. In MY opinion, having weapon locked skills makes for less customization. When you have hundreds of possible skills, and can load each individually, that means if all you have are 5 “weapn skills” that are freed up and Individual…. you have many more combos… even if it’s just exactly 100..that’s 100C5 possible combinations… not even counting utility skills. 3 mainhand skills + 2 offhand skills or 5 two handed weapon skills… does not mean more customizability, but less.
I’m on the fence on this subject. I would love new skills, new weapons. Would love spvp even more if people didn’t know exactly what I could or couldn’t do based on what weapon(s) they see me running around with. However my main concern, if we had the ability to slot skills of our choosing onto our build template, would be balance. I don’t know how it could be balanced… and if it could – The difficulty would be something I’m not sure ArenaNet is equipped to handle.
They did a good job with Guild Wars, although I really think this is a different Anet from the Anet that produced Guild Wars, maybe this Anet may not be up to the task? I mean they cannot balance the limited set of skills they have now.

Because GvG and the Ladder were the heart and soul of GW. Even if you didn’t GvG competitively, it was still fun to watch…
But I digress…
We can’t have anything from GW. Apparently ArenaNet are embarrassed by GW or something, and are trying to pretend it doesn’t exist. And I can tell you that GW players are not even on their radar for target audience.
Since you talk like you played GW(I still play), GW players WERE on “their” radar at one time if you remember the big lie called “The Manifesto” that was heaped upon the GW community in order to get them hyped on the release of GW2.

gw2skills.net or intothemists.com are both good skill calcs, and both (I think) up to date. They’re very useful for figuring out potential builds.
If you do WvW, gw2score.com or mos.millenium.org are both good sites for keeping track of timers and scores.
Other than that, pretty much just what RlyOsim listed. Can’t think of any other sites that are essential atm.
Edit: More in-depth, http://dulfy.net is a must-have for info on new content as it comes out. Pictures or videos of new cash shop stuff, dev livestream notes, patch notes, guides on living story/event content and achievements…I always rush to Dulfy on patch days to check out the new stuff.

@Im Mudbone: I think the one on the signature of someone on page 2.
Anyway, I’ve been reading the forums a lot lately (work has been light these last couple of weeks). I keep reading this “forum is toxic”, “the community is toxic” comments, but I fail to see how it is. Obviously there are people who are offensive, but so far, at least in this post, I’ve yet to see something toxic.
Truth be told, it seems that disagreeing = toxicity. To me that just…blows.
Ahhhhhh, ok, to small of a base to even consider that as a poll, but, meh, if DEFAULT AUTO-DECLINE is in place I won’t care then, that option isn’t even included with that poll.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
IMO, RIFT had the best consumables bar setup.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
First of all…Mudbone, people that want duels agrees with default auto-decline.Second thing is that….if you really counted that then seriously…i dont want to be rude but that is just prof of “hating”.There is a poll and it shows everything. You cant know what players want based on “yeas and nays” cause not everyone are ragers and haters that want to argue on the forums.People vote and leave to play a game. Some people dont care about conversation that is going on here, other people dont care much about dueling to care to comment anything here at all,but they dont mind it.I talked with many people in game and everyone agrees on 1 thing. They dont go to forum at all cause they think that toxicity here is terrible. Most of players dont even read forums and those that do,they think that all these negativity and attempt’s to prevent some people from getting content they want is vary sad thing. Those people that said “nay” here are dueling “haters” (no offence really) and that is why they doing everything to prevent this content from happening. But other games already showed that duels are not problem.Biggest MMORPG ever WOW has duels and was never a problem to Blizzard community.Other games proved that as well.Gw2 community is just to spoiled.I know i will get negative point for this but i had to say it.
I will reiterate, WHAT POLL, where?
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Can’t just type “cons” in the little “Search…” bar at the top of your inventory and do the exact same thing?

Pressing a button is hard.
Pressing a button in order to bring up a window that entirely or partial obscures your view in order to then double click on another icon in a sea of icons, while in the middle of a fight is, in fact, hard. You are correct sir.
A consumable bar, even if it was only two to four keys, would be very helpful, considering the number of consumables available in the game that basically never get used because it’s such an inconvenience to even try.
Nothing wrong the way it is now – that is too kitten.
There is VERY MUCH WRONG with the way it is.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Duels and Cantha are most desired content we ware waiting for and those that dont like it are just minority.
No they aren’t. People asking for those are just minority.
Why dont you go then and look how many views and comments Cantha tread has? I dont even want to talk about numbers of treads made for dueling.Stop been selfish people.Dueling wont hurt anyone.
last time i saw a thread like this about 80% were against duels, the reason why you don’t see “remove duels” threats because it isn’t in PvE.
if it was, i can guarantee that allot of players would leave the game permanently, apparently it does hurt someoneWell i played WOW,AION,and at least 10 more MMORPG games and no1 ever left cause of duels
.But i know that many people did left GW2 cause of lack of duels and 1 of them is my brother. This is only MMORPG game that i know that has no open world (pk) or duels in open world at all.It was only thing that was backing me off from buying this game. But what lacks here…Everquest Next will have.Too bad that Anet always learns too late.
the reason why they didn’t left the game because of duels is because they accepted the fact, GW2 is the only MMO where PvE is free from duels.
in fact, i know some who play this game because there are no duels in PvE, if it’s added then you can expect a decline of players. That poll above proved everything clear.Majority of people want duels.Minority will leave but more people will come ( or stay to this game).
What poll? In EVERY THREAD ever made regarding duels the MAJORITY disproved of duels unless it was by default auto-decline. I have counted the yeas and nays a few times and the nays won out every time.
