Is this even for already level 80 characters? If so, I now vote that as the stupidest move to date.
do you have multiple 80s?
did you start a new character? Obviously you have no idea what you are doing so ANet has to hold your hand.
Although your response made absolutely no sense to me, I only have 1 character and wouldn’t start another if “they” paid ME. I have been unable to log in to check things out since the patch broke my client(and a few others) and has been reported(https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Game-won-t-load-4/first#post4383373)

It’s the same thing politicians do when they campaign. This big ol’ list of things they do to mislead you into thinking they are the right choice. Anet did the exact same thing. They acted as if they had all these awesome innovative things and they just didn’t deliver on much of it. I don’t think they ever had plans on half of the things said leading up to release.
I mean, they pretty much admitted to giving up on dynamic events as they weren’t played enough to waste resources on.
The game has slowly been made easier since the game launched. If they are trying to appeal to everyone, they should have made a facebook game. The game is starting to be good at nothing and just okay at everything else. This^^^^ and it’s called BAIT AND SWITCH which is against the law and prosecuteable in many states, but, "they have a little disclaimer buried in the ToS that protects “them”.
Bait and switch is advertising a product and trying to sell someone a different product when they come into the store. What you’re probably thinking of is false advertising. I don’t think that this would qualify as that either, for various reasons having nothing to do with a disclaimer.
What do you think “bait and switch” is if not false advertising.
They’re different complaints legally, that’s all. I know this from being in the retail electronics industry in NYC. Bait and switch is a very different complaint.
It’s when a store advertises a model of TV or VCR that they don’t actually have in stock and then they try to upsell you on a different product.
Selling you a product that you advertise as having features it doesn’t is false advertising. They really are different.
Still not good business either way.
I’m not saying they did false advertise, only that your actual accusation doesn’t match the description of the problems. If they engaged in false advertising then I’d agree with you. I don’t believe they did.
Oh, I know you didn’t say they did. As for your ending comment you may not, but, I and MANY OTHERS do, which, you and I alike have that right to do.

Well I was replied to and given a link to download GameAdviser.exe about an hour ago, an NCsoft app to see if my PC is running correctly(which I know is just fine), which I ran and sent the results back to “them”, it’s still early yet(or to late to do anything, depending on how you look at it) and still can’t get in-game.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
really now besides not having any connection with GW1 gameplay in the game there is is all they said there will be in this game so why do people say they were let down?
Name the BEST of Guild Wars that is in GW2. Only recently have they started to add a few SKINS that are in Guild Wars.

This new update really makes me want to stop playing this game, since this game feels like every other game. I feel bad for spending my money to this and all those gems.
I actually felt good to support devs and buy gems. Since I thought: Hey I’m helping them.
And now this…changing the whole game. I thought this supposed to be new and different mmo not like any other. How is it like every other game? Because it slows down the way people get new stuff. Dynamic events are still there. Scaling still exists. The active combat really isn’t any different.
All this system does is make it so leveling feels rewarding to people. That’s why they did it. To return to the game for new players a feeling of progression that’s been missing.
That doesn’t make it like every other game. No one can steal my node, still. No one can steal my kill. I still get experience and loot if I participate.
Putting in a tutorial (which this game lacked) isn’t making it like every other game. It’s putting in a tutorial.
It doesn’t feel rewarding to me! They’ve taken away skills and locked them to higher levels so I can “feel” rewarded when I earn back what I used to just have?
The active combat is the same, but you’re going to be doing a lot more of it than you used to have to in order to gain progress. This game wasn’t a mob-grinding engine before, and now it will be.A heart now gives you about a third of a level in the new 1-15 experience. I played for an hour, got to level 8. I’m honestly not really seeing a problem here.
Almost every game teaches people how to play it. Guild Wars 2 did this badly. Now it does it better. It’s called taking one for the team.
How about “they” GIVE one for the team(future gem-store item probably).
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
RIP Guild Wars 2, 2012-2014
GW2 won’t die “they” will just move to China.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Not even close to what was intended. Bring back the ORIGINAL GW1/GW2 TEAM and fire the ones there now.

I was so excited when I read about the new TP UI last week, and it was a needed change. I still don’t understand why you give us the ability to sell stuff to the TP from anywhere and still make us visit a Black Lion NPC to take stuff out. With the new UI I was expecting this to change and give us the ability of taking our gold/items out of the TP from anywhere.
The ability to stand at a crafting station and buy things, craft them into items, then list them for profit (or just relisting them for a straight profit) would be too exploitable and heavily botted – even more so than it is now, since they wouldn’t have to move to do it.
This^^^^

I hope they are looking into this since others besides myself is confirming this. Please submit a support ticket on this you guys above me.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
:O For some reason, my game looks uglier. WTF?
I also felt that it looks completely fuzzed over compared to before, a few people agreed with me thinking the game looked fuzzy now, and others said they noticed no change. My GPU is an Nvidia GT 555M, yours? I may try updating my display drivers later, too tired at the moment since I was up all night trying to get a lot of last minute stuff in before this doo doo stain of a patch.
Wish the game would even load for me(ever since new patch, game won’t run for me) so I could check this out because to me my graphics were fine set on high.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
I can’t even load the game to check out the changes.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Still no go here so I just submitted a ticket. Hope I can get back in before reset.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Just tell him “they” tried reinventing the wheel AGAIN.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Mine won’t either – all it says is “initializing” – and then it disappears. Happened a bit after they logged us all out to do some work on the game. :/
Mine does that if I try using the GW2 repair command-line switch and completly closes i.e. leaves the Task Manager.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Is anyone else having this issue since the update? When I start my client I get this; http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/MudBone/GW2Login_zpse4e10d4e.jpg which looks like the old GW2 launcher and it won’t let me put my login info. I have even tried starting from the install folder without success.
EDIT: To add to the above, the only way I can exit the launcher is from the Task Manager.

Or they could just do what Guild Wars 1 did and have the character icon pictures automatically move over with a simply mouse-over of the left/right arrows, moving faster as you are further right/left on the arrow. Guild Wars 1 got a lot right.
There is so much of GW1 that was done right and not in GW2. Why would they try to fix many areas of GW1 that wasn’t broken, but, in GW2 it is.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
In GW1 they had the bows right to the point of explaining the difference in how each bow worked, i.e. Shortbow, Longbow, Flatbow, Hornbow and recurve bow.
From GW1 Wiki; http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Bow
There are a number of different types of bows available for use, each varying slightly in range, attack speed, and accuracy. The longbow offers a fair attack speeds, a long range, and fair accuracy. The shortbow has a good attack speed, poor range, and good accuracy. The flatbow provides a good attack speed, a good range, and poor accuracy. The recurve bow has a fair attack speed, a fair range, and good accuracy. The hornbow provides a poor attack speed, a fair range, and fair accuracy, but has armor penetration.
If only the GW2 makers cared as much.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
I didnt realize you are REQUIRED to party with other players to do anything in GW1. I’m not happy about that.
You aren’t.
NPC henchmen or heroes can be used to create a party without any other players involved.
At start all a new GW1 player will have are the use of henchmen until they acquire their heroes and in most cases is good enough.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
IMO every single armor/weapon should be salvageable/sell-able.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Thanks for the info. I just bought the trilogy. I’m interested to see how it plays compared to this game.
i hope you don’t like jumping!
Well I hate jumping puzzles. Does that count? O-o
He is trolling you, you can’t jump in GW1. -LOL
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Shen, you neglected to mention that you still have to run all over creation to get your hands on those skills, and still need to hunt down bosses to get elite skills (assuming you know which boss has which skills)
Which, IMO, was/is one of the BEST PARTS OF THE GAME. I still play.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
I agree with the OP on this +1. The megaserver system took away our individual servers identities.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Get More GoldI don’t see anything wrong with the new rework of the gem store, looks really well done to me.
Bwahahaha!
Tbh though, not having to visit a rep to pick up your stuff is awesome for starters – secondly, if that optimization rolls out smoothly it’ll be so much faster if the Trading Post utilizes in-game files.
Overhyped or not, this is a really good update.
You STILL have to personally visit your TP merchant or summon one in order to pick up sold/bought items, sorry.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
So I am looking at legendary weapons, and noticed that they list a damage type. (ex. Frostfang: damage type: ice) Does this have any effect on how much damage is done to an enemy of the opposite type? Say, increased damage to fire based creatures (i.e Fire imps, elementals, etc.) Or does it just effect the death animation?
In this game it makes no difference if your using fire, ice, water or air damage against enemies of the same element, which is dumb. GW1 had it right(go figure) with needing fire against ice and so on in order to deal sufficient damage.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Get More Gold!I don’t know about you guys but I’m really excited for this trading post update. I mean look at all the new functions such as filtering armor weights! This is a really good patch and I can tell Anet worked on it. I don’t know about you all, but I didn’t see anything that bothered me at all about this new UI. It’s really well done, I guess we will see once the feature pack is released.
Get More Gold!In my opinion, it’s ridiculous to get upset about this. The ability to trade gold for gems and buy gems with cash has been in the game since it started.
Also, the fact that people can do this is one of the reasons most people get to play the game for free. As shocking as it is, servers, employees, and bandwidth all cost money and your initial purchase just won’t cover it.
How did GW1 survive 3 years w/o a gem store then. And look at my post history, I’ve known since day -3 that you could buy gold with gems m8.
3 years? Try to this day without a gem-store making it 7+ years.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
LOOK, we now have “Peter Pan” in the game, who needs Mr. T. Sorry, had to say it. -LOL
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
My concern is related to the most important aspect of selling something for me… How much profit will I make. This picture doesn’t seem to show the profit.
“They” don’t want us to see our meager earnings I guess.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
I always self-heal while in a downed state and 90% of the time I rally on my own unless I am assisted, although, I know what you’re talking about I really don’t see a problem.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
I’d totally pay you to make a second copy like that. Including shipping.
Same here. +1
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
I think it’s a good idea.

Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
That’s how it is when companies start worshiping the almighty dollar and nothing else.

Most of that you can turn off yourself by adjusting the settings. I know there’s some that think turn everything up cuz moar is better!!! but the truth is if you turn up all the effects you will SEE all the effects. You can eliminate most of that by adjusting these settings.
1. Post processing – Turn it off. Seriously, why do you want to add more effects to that scene?
2. Shaders – Set shaders no higher than Medium. Higher shader settings only enhances lighting effects.
3. Shadows – Play around with the Shadow settings, they can enhance the difference in light effects. Here is the difference I get between having those 3 items turned down or turned up.
The left pic is awesome the right pic is all blurry.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
You can – it is in options in game.
no you can’t
You can’t tone down particle effects,
Oh, really?
You’re joking right? That does absolutely NOTHING!
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
You can – it is in options in game.
No you can’t, and no it isn’t. +1 OP
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Interesting.
I didn’t think they’d have that power for a pic O_o
Bad for the Arenanet image.
It’s WORSE for the image of the community when it’s QUITE CLEAR from the screenshot the DEVs were trying to get a screeny without RUDE INTRUSIONS and the community purposely interferes.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
I figured I had a right to not do it if I didn’t want to. I wasnt breaking any rules or anything. Are Devs supposed to use power like that? They want a picture so they will DC me more than once to get it?
Screw you, I do what I want, huh. Have you ever heard of a thing called kindness?
GOOD ANSWER.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
It’s based on an individual characters age, as in when a character reaches 365 days.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
It should give +20 levels instead of a bump to level 20.
What should be and is in this game are two wildly different animals. +1
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
This is my take on all this, IMO, it’s because the reward vs effort is only worth the AFK bronze.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
In all honesty, IMO, they should just shut the forums down since there is in reality zero company interactions other than the CDI section that again IMO isn’t really working and the deletion/infracting of threads/posts and the ludicrous, cryptic, uninformative and vague responses by “them”. GW1 did just fine without forums so can GW2.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Totally useless item to me since I only have 1 character with absolutely no plans on starting another.
