HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Inculpatus cedo.9234
I uninstalled GW2 because of this. Was thinking about giving the game another try but seeing that they still dont care about their original community the game will remain uninstalled. Maybe they will learn from their mistakes with the next expansion.
Same here (almost, I didn’t uninstall, but I’m not interested in returning now). Just now updated my game and figured I’d upgrade to the expansion only to find out it cost more than I paid for the base game and I get a fraction of the content. Crazy.
All those people defending this saying they have to include the base game to bring in new players…Well, that’s fine, include the base game with the expansion. But if you’re going to charge the vets the same price give us more than a useless “Max level boost” (we already have max level characters). It’s at the very least worth a new account’s amount of character slots.
I’m not bitter about it, just don’t find it worth it, especially a year after the expansion came out. I’ll come back when the expansion goes on sale.
Been on sale a few times. Too bad you missed it a couple of weeks ago. Maybe next time.
Good luck.
If you mean you submitted an in-game report, in-game Bug Reports will garner no response, as indicated on the Bug Report window.
To contact the CS Team, you must use the web-form accessed via the ‘Support’ link above/below and ‘Submit a Ticket’ for assistance.
Good luck.
Make sure to pick up any items/Gold from the Trading Post, as the Gold may be queued. Also clear out any Mail, pending or otherwise.
You could try clearing the GW2 cache; instructions found in the Knowledge Base accessed via the ‘Support’ link above/below and ‘Search – Troubleshooting TP’.
If you continue to have issue, you can contact the CS Team via the ‘Support’ link above/below and ‘Submit a Ticket’ for assistance.
Ok, next time I will give it a try. I was just there on my Necro, sans Rifle, and managed to make the 4th jump without issue. Conversely, the second jump gave me lots of trouble today. Lol, go figure.
I don’t especially feel Trinity makes a game ‘epic’. Nor, after some time, did I especially group up in Guild Wars. It’s true, though, that since I could not heal myself, I brought along a healer Henchie/Hero. Are you asking that the game go back to depending on having a healer in each group, and that one should not be able to solo content, since, unlike Guild Wars, there is level-adjustment to maps?
If you are referring to the Personal Story Mastery Points, you need only one racial character, as there are only 8 Mastery Points available from the Personal Story: One Mastery Point per Level Arc. It makes no difference which race completes the requisite instance in said Level Arc.
If you have not completed each and every Mastery Track for the region (Core or launch-HoT), your XP is not used, and you do not earn the 1 Spirit Shard for leveling-up. (Not a big loss, in my opinion, but others feel differently, of course.)
Not sure about some of the other comments/suggestions.
Good luck.
New Player, Sad Player. Expansion ruined it.

All stuff started with ppl being mad due to the expansion containing the base game and the complete riot on fora (forums), media, vloggers, Gamereview sites and so on…
If everybbody says it is unfair, not cool and dishonest, ppl will go and will not try.
The Hypetrain derailed catastrophically and sales were BAD. You cannot expect this to recover… Not easily at least. GW2 sold 5 Million copies and maybe 500k HoT I guess…
So for most ppl I see there are at least 9 ppl who chose not to buy the expansion….The fact the game is not bad and the QoL updates were good, the story was well… mediocre at launch but is still continuing every 2-3 months… and is now 26+ steps instead of the 16. The introduction of RAIDS, well there has been a lot of stuff….
Just no(t enough) players… because they made a really bad marketting choice ad they kittened ppl off… a loss of 90% of your playerbase is a really really bad thing. small remark, most ppl playing high end have 2(+) accounts…..taking THIS in consideration the actual number of acounts could have been 90% but the player nuber could have dropped 92-93% even… Even if a quarter of those ppl wold come back we would have tripled the amount of players overall…
Imagine if 50% of all players HAD purchased HoT, with 2.5M accounts most stuff would have been significantly easier, everything could have had 6 times more instances… and I doubt gw2 would have been F2P…
The Flat and easy is to allow new ppl to fastgear their characters…. Or for the Old Guard to fastgear thier Alts…
I expect the new expansion to be reliant on ppl having ascnededs, not having a base level of exotic anymore… This would be very very likely. I do not expect further gear progression, I expect ascnededs take the place of the rare madatory for vanilla(exotic for instanced), exotic for HoT(ascneded for instanced) to ascneded for EXP pack 2, with legendaries (need to swap stats often???) being normal for the instanced content at that time…. but we’ll see. I do know acces to legendary character will mean instant changes to meta / gameplay will no longer cost cast/ecto’s/shards and so on…
I’m not sure I can believe there were 5 million players left 3 years after Core launch. That assumes absolutely no one left the game since launch. o.0
It seems the Devs created the Centaur Camp as fun content for groups (Guilds, zergs, etc.) and then the leather acquisition was attached to it. At least, that’s what I took out of the interview.
Thus, perhaps the drop rates will be adjusted, and there will be less lamentation.
Good luck.
Ha! I can’t for the life of me figure out the ‘starting place’ for the gliding path. I can only use the pillars. (I do make it easy on myself and use the Rifle, just to completely avoid any frustration.)
You can contact the CS Team, though allowing others access to your account is frowned upon.
Good luck.
There’s another thread about it here on the forums, so you aren’t the only one. I fed him several days ago….still no letter for me. /shrug
No idea. I haven’t really heard much screaming from any of my characters. In fact, the only one I’ve noticed screaming (once or twice) was the one I did the quest with. /shrug
Maybe something else affects it. I do do lots and lots of Rift Stabilizer Rift events. So…?
That_shaman’s maps might be fairly up-to-date, if the Wiki’s individual page maps are not. He’s always working on them.
Good luck.
Well, playing other races’ Personal Story (at least the first 3 arcs, or so) might help. Reading ‘Movement of the World’ might help, as well. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Movement_of_the_World
Watching the in-game synopsis of Season One, or the player-created video of Season One might help.
Playing through Season Two would help you get ready for Heart of Thorns.
Playing the previous Campaigns, or at least reading the stories in the Guild Wars Wiki might, again, help.
The story(ies) of Tyria have been, and are being told, over these last 10 years plus.
Good luck.
They are, and have been for at least a couple of days. Actually, 3 days.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/lwd/Jade-Shard-Drop-Issue/page/2#post6495200
Good luck.
They are great events! So easy, and only take a few seconds to complete. Using a Rift Stabilizer to complete Daily Events is the way to go. I highly recommend it.
Good luck.
You can contact the Billing CS Team via the ‘Support’ link above/below and ‘Submit a Ticket’ for assistance.
Good luck.
You have likely hit the Daily Achievement Point cap of 15,000 (combined [retired] Monthly and Daily total). You can hover your cursor over the Daily and Monthly Totals in the Achievement tab of the Hero Panel.
Good luck.
I think the Devs stated, in the last AMA, that sharing over 5 is not possible due to technical limits.
You can find the AMA on Reddit. Good luck.
They weren’t disabled very long. I’m sure you can buy it soon…?
I mean, one should have enough Fragments in a day or two of gathering.
Good luck.

Oh, that’s cool. I saw the buffs on our characters, but I didn’t know all that it granted. Cool.
I rather enjoyed the ‘leather farm’. It was easy, and fun to go with a group up to the top. I got leather; exactly as ArenaNet said I would. I’m guessing the group I went with were willing to do it, as well, as the group stayed for several runs.
Thus, I guess not everyone hates it.
Perhaps, it will be changed; perhaps not. /shrug
Yes, of course. My bad. Thanks for the additional info. =)
I guess I’ll put it simply:
If you liked WoW, you’ll love HoT. If you disliked WoW, you’ll want to rethink the expansion.
Basically it provides a massive shift away from Core Tyria gameplay with brand new mechanics, features, and significant changes to the feel of the game that are anything but what you were doing before the expansion. Yes, they might have fixed some of the grinding and even made the content a bit “more” rewarding (despite that all new maps basically have chests of loot everywhere in some capacity), but it isn’t the same game anymore in the content added since the expansion.
And it’s better to think of it as a $60 USD “season pass,” since it appears that a lot of content released with and since Heart of Thorns require it on your account to access. So for new players it might be more attractive since it means access to all current and future content (up to the next one).
A lot of us who are upset with the expansion and the changes to the game are veteran players from as far back as 2012 when the game launched, so dropping $60 for 4 maps (at the time) and elite specs and a lot of rushed content felt … bad. Most of us haven’t really gotten over that or how much it deviates from the game we had spent four years or more playing.
But that’s that, and it really all comes down to the kind of content you like.
Raids, huge-scale chained events, various big fights, and “unlocking” your progression throughout the maps — those can be quite attractive if you like classic action-RPG style gameplay.
However, keep in mind that a lot of points regarding changes to professions and other game modes are still quite valid. Things are not the same anymore, but for those who like the changes, it’s a lot better.
If someone charged you $60USD, you got a bad deal. ArenaNet sold it for $49.99. Not to mention all the authorized retailers that sold it for less.
This ‘bug’ has been posted a few times. It seems the Oily Key won’t work on the secret passage, only the regular key. Until this is addressed, you will have to wait a day to acquire a new regular key.
It’s a well-known bug. You can contact the CS Team via the ‘Support’ link above/below and ‘Submit a Ticket’ for assistance.
Good luck.
When I purchased the Royal Terrace Pass long, long, ago, I wrote to the CS Team about some of the features advertised not being present. They wrote back that the Devs would announce these other features in the future, and to watch the forums, etc.
Lol. Still waiting…. (and it wasn’t the Aesthetician that was advertised.)
Regardless, I’m happy with my Royal Terrace Pass (probably my favorite Gem Store purchase, along with Unlimited Gathering Tools 4), even if they never upgrade it, though that would be very nice. =)
I thought 250 Gems for that Dye pack seemed a bit over-priced when I saw it. Maybe it’s a mistake?
Bloodstone craziness. My character has pretty much stopped screaming after being cured.
Um…Elementalist or Engineer? No weapon swap there.
HoT - Prized Possessions instance Dev Help?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Inculpatus cedo.9234
Perhaps, asking another player for help with the instance is in order.
I don’t think the CS Team can just skip your character(s) ahead.
Good luck.
Sometimes, items are offered off-season, and sometimes, they are not.
You just have to keep an eye on the Gem Store, or the Sticky above.
Good luck.
My bad. I haven’t actually opened any of them, so I was unaware.
Just disregard….
One can not. Or, at least, on my account, one can not.
I don’t think it’s a bug, but…one never knows, I suppose.
Yes, it’s a bug some experience. I had it for some time, and now it’s gone, for me.
You can the ‘Support’ links on any other Guild Wars 2 site page to avoid the error. The certificate seems to dislike the language modifier.
Good luck.
I just did the ‘leather farm’ a couple of times (my first times), and I thought it was fun enough. Lots of leather packets (can’t remember the name) and plenty of Champion Bags, as well. Not to mention the other drops.
If players don’t like the ‘leather’ part of the farm, maybe they will go for the Champion Bags; it takes less than 10 minutes or so to do the circuit.
You can acquire Hero Points in WvW via Proof of Heroics. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Proof_of_Heroics
Good luck.
You never need to post more than just the first part of the Crash Report.
Here’s a thread with the same error, and some Dev posts: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Crashing/first#post6272468
No idea if it is helpful.
Good luck.

There is a path in the wall near Harvest Cascades that goes into the area with the peach tree. You have to jump your way up and glide to ledges to reach the top. The last ledge is to jump glide requires some form of a speed/movement buff to make.
Before I was aware of this option I used to work my way up to the northwest corner of centaur camp and climb up on the wall to reach the upper ledge, from there you can go to the top and glide in to the peach tree. It’s not the jumping that’s difficult here it’s the mass of centaurs that you have to beat down or run through to get to place in the centaur camp.
So from what I understand, if you don’t already run a speed/movement buff, you need it to reach the Tree just to complete the same daily each day, to avoid the hard way through the centaur camp. I just thought it was a strange form of gating the daily. It just feels weird that you have to buff your character (which normally when you need this they give the buff by way of an NPC, quest, gathering, or the like) for a daily like in Bitterfrost.
Sorry, I’ve never used this Centaur path. Just regular Peach Tree path with no speed boost.
Up to you. You can read about it in the Wiki. Not a bug.
Good luck.
Daniel, you will be missed; best of luck. Congratulations, Horia; looking forward to many more years of your fantastic work. =)
Am I doing this wrong? I’ve never used a speed boost for the Peach Tree, and I kinda suck at JPs. Maybe there are alternate paths or something. /shrug
But, here’s a thought: All professions have access to the Experimental Rifle (I think it’s called). That might be helpful for the path some have trouble with.
Good luck.
I think you are posting about a different issue, especially as this thread is 3 years old. There is/are thread(s) addressing the current issue you might consider posting in.
Good luck.
The Devs sort of said it pre-HoT launch, when they stated that access to Living World Season 3 was contingent on owning Heart of Thorns, no? I mean, it was right there in black and white. Kind of makes Season 3 part of Heart of Thorns; at least, until the next expansion bundles Core, HoT, and expansion ‘2’.
It’s listed as a bug in the Wiki, so, perhaps, the Devs are working on it.
Your thread title, or first post, is confusing.
I believe the Scarlet items were in the Gem Store not long ago. You could read the Sticky in Game Discussion.
Edit: Scarlet’s Grasp/Spaulders are on the list of ‘not-currently-available/may-return’ Gem Store items, so…
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gem_Store/storage/Style#gemstore31
Good luck.
(edited by Inculpatus cedo.9234)
Not to mention the fact that just because a player doesn’t visit the Heart of Thorns original maps doesn’t mean they have left the game entirely.
How much of the population use that web-site, and of those that do use it, what demographic?
I truly doubt 80% of the population left because the expansion was released.
You might consider reading the ‘Sticky’ above.
Also, what the Sticky doesn’t say is that no changes or improvements are possible. You can use Google to search for the Dev posts that explain why, if you so desire.
Good luck.
