So, my ideas:

Summon a Well of the Profane at target location. Allies inside cannot gain conditions. Enemies inside cannot gain boons.

Cast time: 3/4 second
Radius: 240
Duration: 5 seconds
Combo Field: Dark
Cooldown: 90 seconds
Range: 900

Signet of Lost Souls
Elite Signet
Cast time: 1/2 second
Passive: Heal nearby allies when you gain life force. Healing amount is half of the gained life force value.
Passive Radius: 240
Active: Surround yourself with fallen souls, protecting yourself from harm. At the end, the souls lash out at foes on their return to the Mists.
Invulnerable for 5 seconds.
End damage: 1.5 coefficient
Damage Radius: 240
Cooldown: 90 seconds.

Mesmers are for control and sneaky tactics.

When PvE is designed for DPS checks and outright buttonmashing then it is always going to be subpar without pumping alacrity to other classes that can actually do damage.

For WvW and PvP, there really isn’t an argument against mesmers being terrible.
For PvP mesmers can still portal, shatter, invis, apply quickness, etc. It’s just that invis causes you to lose the cap and that the amulets don’t allow for mesmers to build as offensive so all the other classes’ defensive traits stop it from spiking with power builds as easily.
For WvW mesmers can still portal, veil, shatter, invis, apply quickness,apply distortion, gravity well, copy boons, etc.

Running a staff for a frontline build?

You ought to use dagger mainhand with dagger , focus, or warhorn offhand especially since you want to fire off overloads once in a while. Worst case, scepter (I really don’t like scepter even after buffs).

Unless you want to be a terrible version of a druid, I’d advise having more power and less healing power. You’re better off with say 1900-2000 power and no precision than some precision, a terrible crit damage, and 1500 power. I’d also put in a stunbreak.

Unique class party wide buffs

Something related to burning or inventions/tools flavorwise would be nice.

Maybe -20% burning duration on allies and/or +10% burning damage with melee attacks.

It’d likely have to be in the Explosives traitline (Therobaric Detonation?) or Firearms (High Caliber?). Tools is iffy, but something like Static Discharge could have such things tacked on.

Definitely not Scrapper,Inventions,Alchemy

edit: reasoning is elementalist , Mesmer staff , condi Reaper with Dhuumfire , Berserker , Guardian (Virtues, etc) , Ranger torch, Revenants with mace all have burning plus any physical projectile with fire fields

It’s also be a buff to pistols on engineers , flamethrower, as well as flame turret

They gave mesmers scepters as a starter weapon. Every person that stuck with scepter as a weapon basically quit mesmer. All it did was spam clones all day, there was no torment ; confusion had no DPS unless the target used skills.

And the ones that used scepter basically used the “on clone death” trait (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Debilitating_Dissipation) to proc bleed/vulnerability/etc.

Right. In that thread the dev explained they only have control over what runes/sigils/amulets are available. I don’t believe the WvW devs would even have that level of control. PvE and WvW builds are only separated by the trait screen.

Celestial amulet and runes of durability were outright removed from PvP. Sigil of energy was basically nerfed completely in PvP.

Whether those items and other such items deserve the same treatment in WvW is debatable, but you need to consider that.

Right now there’s 2 predominant things: condi (more so with consumables giving +20% or more condition duration) and boon spam (resistance + chrono/ele boon copy , durability runes)

I don’t really agree on nerfing the Rite of the Great Dwarf skill. It requires you to run the Dwarf stance , which means you lose resistance from Mallyx and requires you to auto attack a few seconds after using it due to 0 energy. You’d probably be better off nerfing Versed in Stone traits (mainly the -50% condition damage portion).

There’s minor things that can be implemented such as removing resistance from Durability runes.

Seriously go check out druid roaming on twitch stream.

he uses full celestial staff/sword warhorn and trolls people like 5~6 vs 1 with crazy sustain tanking healing and use mobility to run when low come back rinse and repeat if u have a look he is not even skilled yet that full cele druid can hit up to 7~8k auto attacks on staff with celestial with perma 25 stacks of might

do u guys even know why cele ele has been nerfed?

Current state of druid in wvw is pretty much ridiculous more op than old cele ele.

None of profession in current state has access to all boons including full might stacks , stability , massive regen , crazy healing , stealth , good kiting range , mobility , good damage even with bunker stats.

Druid is obviously a facerolling class

No druid is going to be hitting 7-8k auto with celestial.

Not really since longbow has been nerfed (True shot, Hunter’s ward) and there is so much projectile hate. If you’re looking at ranged only you need to run scepter ( + shield/focus) or staff as a swap. Neither are amazing damagewise.

Kinda OT but we still haven’t gotten a ranged condi weapon for revs.
Until then you are going to be at a disadvantage due to lack of weapon choice other than mace and axe.

Shortbow/longbow would be the likely weapons. It could even be 900 range like guardian,mesmer, or necro scepter

Play guardian, warrior, ele (use arcane instead of tempest)

For ranger, engineer, rev, necro, mesmer, and thief most times you will want the elite spec

Scrapper (because rifle and pistol are meh), herald (the trait line for boon duration and might spam), reaper (use a staff and see the difference), daredevil (UC / Bound , Driven fortitude) are all powercreeped.

Alacrity was nerfed heavily or chrono would be as well; the clone and phantasm regeneration are still very strong compared to regular mesmers

Sword now has been refined to usable since projectiles are no longer created from auto. However the auto seems like it could use some more emphasis on mobility.

Hammer , GS spit out boons on auto.

Sword on other classes put out cripple (DH longbow already puts out cripple).

What if the sword auto 2 spit out 1/2 second of swiftness to proc AH? It would also help to make Sword wave hit more reliably.

The other boons I could see adding to sword are Stability (1/2s), quickness (1/2s) , and maybe vigor (2s?).

I don’t know why anyone would say toughness is useless in WvW. Strength in numbers however isn’t very strong for roaming, it’s meant for parties.

If you play with below 2600 armor on a guardian and then try 3000+ the difference is large.

2600/3000= 14% damage reduction

since damage done = (skill-fact damage) * (Power / 1000) * (2600 / target’s Armor)

Mussels gnashblade is -10% damage in comparison

I think the map is okay. I would like for the projectiles to be less painful when flying around on a glider though.

The bloodstone ruby cost ought to be reduced for PvE players however for the first backpack they get. 200 blood rubies is a steep cost to pay for a backpack when dailies only provide 4 ; 2 rubies from the Jade Constructs’ chest , 4 rubies from the Legendary Unbound Guardian’s chest, 1 ruby for escorting Alari Doubleblade , 3 rubies for defeating Ghostly Justiciar Hablion.

The bloodstone cost could scale up after you purchase your first one (i.e. 100 blood rubies, then 150 for 2nd , 200 for 3rd).

I mostly WvW and PvP and was able to complete the reward tracks to get the backpack (a reward track rewards 50). PvP is by far the fastest.

You’re incorrect that the zerg can just “WP and be back where they died in 30 seconds or less”.

Firstly, now keeps have WPs only when upgraded. Second, the WP can be contested. Thirdly, Desert BL takes more than 30 seconds to traverse.

Ascended stuff with more stats than exotics is another issue. I really don’t know why the ascended gear (armor/weapon especially) is not standardized to exotics in WvW.

It seems odd that there would be 2 alpine and 1 desert border though.

Maybe have a version of alpine that is a different coloring /pattern but the same map layout? Call it jungle (rainforest) / swamp (wetland) or something and make the all the snow into lush greenery / foggy swampland : something that can be achieved with different ambient lightning and a simple texture swap

Another reason is because otherwise people would just spam AoEs (especially boon corrupt) and collide zergs into each other (collusion) for drop farming.

There’s a reason why stationary siege exists that hits multiple players.

As it is now, many AoE skills are unbalanced due to the combination of recharge, activation, and damage. If you look at a vanilla GW2 skill such as Meteor Shower with its large 3.75 second activationtime and moderate 20 recharge that’s something that is on a squishy 11K base HP light armor class OR Rangers’ Barrage with a hefty 30 recharge and activation there’s a drawback to each skill. Now we have AoEs that are near instant that recharge quicker such as Berserker’s Scorched Earth or Gunflame and skills such as Revenants’ Phase Smash/Drop the Hammer which double as blast finishers.

Also once you remove the target limit , Necromancers’ unblockable marks and boon corruption wells (that double as dark fields for life steals with whirling and projectile attacks) become even more ridiculous.

Sorry, they are needed for HoT pve. Angry mobs too hard to kill without blocks or perma stab. One correction though, Necro does not have perma stab.

The durability rune should be reevaluated for WvW, this is the Wvw forum not HoT PvE forum

Durability rune currently:
+175 toughness, +125 vitality , +20% boon duration
25% chance when struck to grant nearby allies protection and regeneration for 3 seconds and resistance for 1 second. (Cooldown: 20 seconds)

A simple starting fix would probably be to make recharge 60s or 90s, cut the boon duration to protection/regen duration (to decrease the offense potential), and slash the vitality provided.
Alternative fix might be to swap the resistance on this with the Rune of Registance’s aegis.

In the next release, a 6th pip is being added to the provision master ability line that allows you to buy HoT recipes, sigils, and runes from the heroics notary vendor.

I eagerly await this change for all the items requiring crystalline ore.

Durability rune might need adjusting regardless of this ; Leadership runes don’t need that much of a change most likely ; Rune of Surging rarely sees use ; Rune of Thorns isn’t gamebreaking either.

If T1/T2 servers are unlinked then we’d see what happens with linking on low pop servers.

All servers with queues on 3 or all maps should not be linked.

Linking ought to make deserted servers with less than 50 people on all 4 maps to be able to play and actually put orange swords on something.

Also OCX/SEA timezone should be looked at when linking. It is ill-advised to stack a OCX/SEA heavy server with another OCX/SEA heavy server.

If you got bursted down then the mesmer was a glassy mesmer or you have full zerk gear or something and don’t evade shattered clones or stay still when being hit with focus phantasms.

Linking needs to be reworked.

I think linking would be fine if the server linking was mainly for lower populations where you can’t get 50 people total on 4 maps. It could be determined by players each week (on the lower tiered server) before Arenanet okays it based on coverage. If a server can handle on its own and queues 4 maps on reset it should not be linked.

“World linking should remain and ArenaNet should continue to support the feature and re-evaluate match-ups.” I am unsure if that is what is meant by the yes option.

T1 – T2 plays much more blobby than T3-T7.

There needs to be a thorough discussion on OCX/SEA coverage as well. (JQ/SoS/HoD )

HoT has powercreep across all classes.

However seeing 7K CRIT damage on 3K armor is not that amazing when a skill has a 2.2 skill coefficient, on top of 160%+ crit damage almost every warrior runs in WvW (some run in excess of 180%). It is almost certain they had might stacks. The problem is how quick it is and its 1500 range.

What would you have arenanet do? lower base damage from 907 or reduce the damage coefficient? increase recharge?

It’s fixed to an extent. It used to hit 15K+ on 3k armor

The cooldown might need looking at but 7K damage really isn’t that much if the warrior is running signet of might and had might stacks (or you had vulnerability more likely).

Your HP is 24K, what are you complaining about? If you were on a guardian it’d be about half your HP unless you ran multiple pieces of vitality gear other than armor (i.e. Nomad’s /Minstrel’s/Marauder’s/Wanderer’s/Soldier’s/Sentinel’s/Valkyrie), durability/trooper runes, and/or force of will trait for +3000HP.

How does WvW FPS Work??

My machine must be super bad xxxx then since I don’t have the problems described here at any time even when 3 blobs are in the same spot fighting. As I said above, I’m seriously not boasting anything… just stating that in my own personal experience it does make a difference when you have ALL things running well: Good CPU, separate high performing graphics card with own memory, very high speed internet and so on. I run the highest settings on everything in GW2. .. and I’m on a laptop… Maybe I’m just lucky?

GW2 in big fights (as in 3 way SM map q’d fights) runs poorly with a lot of skipped frames and poor FPS no matter the environment that I have tested.

It is a game that doesn’t seem to run any better on a 980ti than a 770 at least with a 1080p resolution. It also doesn’t seem to be effected by cores as our Xeon E5 rigs or our overclocked i7 doesn’t significantly improve performance over a stock i5.

Drive performance also doesn’t seem to matter past a stock SSD. A RAID0 SSD setup didn’t run it any faster nor did a pure RAM drive. Throwing a ridiculous amount of RAM at it had the predicable effect of doing nothing.

I haven’t dug into the 64 bit client but the fact that the system performs better when running it in big fights seems to imply some local memory pressure that Win32 limits. The game seems to run the same in 2 cores as it does in 4 or 8 implies it is driven mostly by a main thread.

I won’t go into what I have or haven’t done looking under the hood but I am programmer with years of professional assembler development/debugging on mainframes and PC environments (yep I am old-er).

clock speed matters more than CPU cores , with IPC being most important (Intel ; unless you have less than 4 threads you won’t see much difference)

That is why you didn’t see an improvement from a Xeon

2.6-3.0Ghz Intel core i5 vs 4.6Ghz+ Intel i5/i7 is a big difference

Glint is necessary
Mallyx is used to counter condition damage, with the stability changes it’s more for that than to just counter chill/fear/immob
Shiro was nerfed a bit
Dwarf was nerfed

Staff 5 was nerfed & stability changes mean it is no longer as good

I prefer sword/sword over sword+shield these days since you don’t have to stand in one place

DH-trap guardian is OP

As for condi builds; have fiddled with ‘m over the past week. They’re fun!!! but completely unusable against engineers with their massive passive condi removal…

It is rock-paper-scizzors against those sorts of matchups.

Now switched to a heal-sustain build. Burst thieves get burst back while my hp goes up to 100% consistently even against berserk warriors.

Ele and scrapper can do that as well except when they do it they bring more defensive utility for their allies, more boon support & more mobility with either
1: Some reflects in the engineers case but tons of CC
or
2: Tons upon tons of reflects and group healing in the ele’s case.

All while maintaining the same burst potential or bringing pretty good condi pressure.

There is literally nothing in this game that a guardian can do that is not done better by an engi/ele/rev while also bringing better boon support, mobility and either CC or reflects.

The one possible exception is perma protection in PvE on the hammer which is so boring to do that you can watch TV/movies on your second screen while doing it without losing out on much if anything.

I think the problem is that even exotic 4 stats are hard to make except for marauder/crusader.

It’s a problem that’s been brought up many times for WvW players. I doubt Pvers run Trailblazer’s /Minstrel’s or durability runes.

Your thread is a bit dramatic though it is a valid point. The sheer amount of crystalline ores if you want to convert armor/weapons is a bit much, let alone if you were to get the 4 stat ascended recipes along with story mode achievements just for amulet (and raids for a chance at the other accessories) sets the bar high.

dont come and say thiefs have the highest burst cause i see other classes doin the exact same thing

I thought my longbow ranger dealt pretty good damage in full berserker gear. Then switched over that gear to my thief. God almighty that damage! One Unload from dual pistols can kill normal PvE monsters just like that. I played it for a while in WvW and never have I seen enemy players fall so fast.

The coefficients are ridiculous. Thief dagger: (0.8+0.85+1.1)/1.68=1.63
Compare this to something like mesmer greatsword attacks: 0.945/1.4=0.675
oh the poor mesmer! Deals one third of thief’s damage when you take into account all damage multiplications from traits.

These are not the same. Thieves have invisibility, best movement in game from shortbow 5 and quite possibly the highest damage output. 12k backstabs. Only thing they don’t have is health.

Except thieves are much more glassy than mesmers or rangers (vitality wise) and have 900 range max. You also cannot compare a 1200 range weapon with a melee range one because the melee range should hit more often or harder to make it worthwhile to deal with kiting and CC.

12K backstabs do less than Coalescence of ruin from revenant or gunflame from berserker warrior. Last I checked unload is projectile and requires 5 initiative.

If you mean daredevil evasion (lol heal on dodge + Unhindered Combatant), it’s really because all elite specs are overtuned.

It’s really a profession built around mobility and quick sneak attacks and ganking (+1s as PvPers call it).

You can only convert ascended.

For people with many alts or are new to the game, it is not viable for them to have 3+ sets of ascended armor (let alone multiple sets per character).

The main reason for this is runes.

Keep in mind for WvW, many players run a tankier armor for their frontline warrior,guardian, or revenant. So while nomad’s / Soldier’s/ Wanderer’s / Crusader’s / Commander’s / Minstrel’s / Knight’s / Cavalier’s and durability /hoelbrak/ melandru / pack / trooper runes are common in WvW they are really a rarity in PvE.

I once had a professor write “A, with misgivings” on a paper years ago.

WvW reward tracks are like that. The feature is ok as is but there could be improvements.

Activity wise people afking at spawn and not moving , selling things or repairing armor ought to be booted. It is mainly an issue if there’s a queue.

Rewards:

For example in addition to the loot tracks, a superior siege track (omega golems at end with guild skin or whatnot), Wvw scribing track, Wvw weapon skin track (end of 40/40 = 25 WvW tournament claim tickets for battle historian, intermediate ones are superior siege) , cosmetics (siege skins/WvW specific finishers similar to the tournament ones/minis).

There could also be a reward track that gives crystalline ore (for Guild ornate armor) , fulgurite or the fulgurite components (ley line spark / auric dust / airship oil), and HoT materials for the 4 stat weapons and armor (black diamonds, maguuma burls, maguuma lily, moonstone orb, ebony orbs for example).

Also existing boxes from the reward tracks really should not give barbs or junk that clogs up inventory.

p.s. perhaps have a collection in which getting all triumphant armor pieces gets you ascended backpiece like the auric weapons.

Don’t roam with a staff unless you have 4 other people in your party. You’re better off with a dagger + focus , dagger+ warhorn, or dagger +dagger and a staff to swap to only for AoEing walls.

Scepter has always been underwhelming and nothing has changed overall.
Latest changes include:
Flamestrike: The cast point of this skill has been reduced by 0.2 seconds. The aftercast delay of this ability has been reduced by 0.38 seconds.
Ice Shards: The damage applied by this skill has been increased by 33%.
Shatterstone: The damage of this skill has been increased by 22%.
Water Trident: The healing contribution per level of this skill has been increased by 27%.
Arc Lightning: The damage of this skill at all levels has been increased by 33%.
Rock Barrier— Hurl: This skill now applies 1 stack of bleeding for 8 seconds when striking an enemy.
Dust Devil: The cast point of this skill has been reduced by 0.15 seconds. The aftercast delay of this ability has been reduced by 0.3 seconds.

Revenant stability should tick on when first casted.

Other than well of precog, the other skills are fine as is.

Without the wide range stability of SYG the guardian is not nearly as useful.

http://mos.millenium.org/na/matchups – score/income evolution for every matchup in the past
http://coveragewars2.com/timezone/ – estimated PPT per time zone
http://www.gw2score.com/matchups – has “Most points gained between” , “Highest tick”
and have a look mainly at OCX/SEA prime and servers where that is the origin of majority of score.

Opinions without data are just feelings or perception. The situation is far worse on EU servers

I hadn’t touched my guardian in ages for Wvw after stability was nerfed.

This week is the first week that Stand Your Ground and Indomitable courage feel very strong since before it (stability) was nerfed.

I don’t see why Line of Warding and Unsteady ground were changed along with stability though. Static Field I can sort of understand due to the larger area.

Hunter’s Ward change was good though, that was broken in WvW before.

No brainer, voted for scoring changes, which will tackle a number of issues we’ve been asking them to look into for YEARS.

The other QoL changes presented almost nothing of interest that needs to be added to the game right away. Why are people voting for this?

Add an option for reduced nameplate clutter. - Don’t Need

Although some lower tier servers might benefit from the cross-map chat , it will not affect most people that use TS / whisper
Reduced nameplate clutter may make for easier counting of enemy forces more than 25 that are in a stack but not standing directly on top of each other (can’t think of many other effects)
