I don’t know. People seem to be forgetting that Primordis is still around. In fact, a case could be made that he is next. We are starting to go further underground with the new maps which is where Primy lives. We also see an expansion on our knowledge of Asura and a new ancient Asuran city. Given the Asura were driven above ground by Primy, we seem to be getting some hints that we may learn more about him.
The last balance patch mostly change visual animation only. Is that what Anet calls balance patch to shake the meta?
If the last “balance” patch only changed visual animations, then my guess is it was a visual animation patch and not a balance patch at all.
As far as I know GW2 doesn’t actually get “balance” patches. They throw in balance changes whenever they feel like it, usually mixed in with other content patches.
Actually they do have major balance patches. They just haven’t had many lately due to HoT dominating most of this year. They announced (can’t find source right now, but think it was on a “Guild Chat”) that they plan to have 4 major balance patches next year. This is an increase on the 2 last year and early this year.
I’d say a quarterly substantial balance patch is both ambitious and just the right amount if they can hold the schedule.
I crafted one piece, got the rest from Fractals pre-HoT (you know, when it dropped occasionally from there). I then forged it into the stats I wanted.
It only does the massive damage at max range. At that range it is very easy to see coming and…well…move to the left or right. At close range it isn’t nearly as bad. Given the speed of the skill and the extreme tell I think it is perfectly fine. Only really effective against somebody not paying attention to their surroundings, and in that case they should take high damage as a result.
The only thing I’d change is to have the skill 5 show the Juggernaut hammer when wielding that legendary weapon.
As for speed, I’m perfectly fine with it for the same reasons as already stated above.

I’ve tried finding this on Wiki, but either am daft, or it isn’t there. If I put AR on a weapon, does that AR stay even when the weapon isn’t being used (but still on secondary set)? In other words, if I swap weapons during combat, could that lower my AR if I’m swapping from a weapon with AR to one without?
I for one like the way they did it. Mastery points are supposed to be something you work towards, not something freely given. HoT has been out less than two weeks, these masteries are supposed to take time to complete. Play the game, have fun, get what you want first then slowly work towards the others.
The problem is not getting the xp for a mastery. The problem is you do an achieve that is documented as giving you a MP and you may or may not get it. Pretty much defeats the incentive of doing achievements until this is fixed.
Well then, the problem is a bug, not implementation. Submit bug report, post in bug forums, and move on until it is fixed.
This is a well known bug. Skins you had unlocked prior to HoT are often not getting added to the collections. Check out both the Bugs forum and Fractal forums for more details or to join those discussions if you wish.
The issue is back again. When Glint facets are active when you switch to another legend the energy regen rate doesn’t reset immediately. (Not related just to facet of nature.) So high upkeep cost skills like impossible odds cannot be enabled right away after swap until the energy regen rate finally goes back to normal a few seconds after legend swap.
Yep, I’ve noticed the same thing the last few days. I try to switch to Shiro for some quick burst and end up having to wait a second or so before I can activate Impossible Odds.
Absolutely do use it. Not every day/week mind you, but when I want to send a porter a tip, it’s nice. When I want to send a guildie an item or gold they need, it’s nice. When I am partying with somebody and they could use a potion or food to help them out (and thus the whole team), it’s nice. I could go on and on with it’s applications, but I think my point is made.
And you expected something else? BL chests have always been a gamble that rarely pays off. They are nice as story rewards and also to burn some leftover gems if you have nothing better to do with them. Beyond that, eh.
So, unless you get a thrill out of high stakes gambling, you should know to leave them alone.
I suggested durring the betas to rework the mace a bit like they worked the spear. In short, since we don’t have a ranged option that works well with condies at all (hammer is nice, but has no synergy with condi build), I propose that the mace be given a similar treatment as the underwater spear for Revenant.
Proposed Solution: give the mace the same treatment as the underwater spear received
- This would put good use to the amazing mechanic that has become available recently and applied to spear. It seems a shame not to use this new mechanic more
- The mace is a good condi weapon, but sometimes range is just needed and this would allow more seamless weapon usage as (mentioned above) the hammer just feels out of place in that type of build
- This would encourage smart placement and more interesting battle presence since you get different results depending on range
Proposed change for AA (though would love to see other ideas here):
- 0-160 range – slightly more direct damage than current and slightly less condi duration applied
- 161-600 range- Less direct damage than current, about the same condi duration applied
- 601-900 range – Very little direct damage, add poison to the second attack, slightly increase torment duration
I just finished the HoT story and have to say, just wow! Great job Anet on getting the final fight just right. It was meaningful, had story involvement, made me believe in the sinister will of Mordremoth, and was engaging. This is everything the Zhaitan fight could have and should have been and more.
Color me impressed and very thankful. And having completed it on my Sylvari, it was extra satisfying. Wonderful job to whomever thought it up and the team who worked on it.
Why is this in the Revenant subforum?
I really want to run Mallyx again. Had a ton of fun in BWE1 and BWE2 with Mallyx. Current form finds he is better in power builds than condi, but Shiro/Glint push him out of most builds as they just work better. The legend just seems very confused now as his elite was gutted, but many of the skills (Pain Absorption) and Traits that had a lot of synergy before no longer do.
I’ve written a lot of feedback on this before so won’t go into more details, I’m just sad because I was so looking forward to Mallyx gameplay (and lore), but in the end no longer find him all that useful or fun.
They have always been the same. Many people have requested they be separated in the past but Anet has turned a deaf ear to those requests. Would be nice and frankly thought it would have come with the guild overhaul in HoT.
I for one like the way they did it. Mastery points are supposed to be something you work towards, not something freely given. HoT has been out less than two weeks, these masteries are supposed to take time to complete. Play the game, have fun, get what you want first then slowly work towards the others.
I was hoping for some idle chatter, disappointed this didn’t make it to the game.
I’m still waiting on Mallyx to be brought back to his former glory from BWE2
All of the RNG dyes have been like that. A chance for the special ones, or a regular one that matches the color theme.
I agree with both this and the OP. All of the previous dyes have been like this. It does clearly state this in the description of the item you are buying so if you didn’t read the description when you bought it then that is on you.
That said, they should give at one of the new dyes if you are going to buy them with gems. This is why I don’t buy them because I don’t want to pay that kind of money on a dye I already have and that sells for 90c.
Change it into Infuse Light for 2s
We can give people we are reviving Infuse Light, sounds fair enough to let us have it when downed.
So, the receipe that it allows for you to gain extra agony slots for your rings, if you use it do you get a “fresh” ring without any of the agony resistance you already may have applied to it? Or does it just add a slot to the ring, and keep anything you had previously filled in those slots?
Ok, so I was hoping this would get fixed, however still an issue. A wall, or any other decent obstacle will cause Vengeful Hammers to have their hammers destroyed (though the skill will keep going, just not hitting anything). It will also cause Unrelenting Assault to fail as well.
C’mon Roy, I know you can fix this!
I’ve not noticed this trait proccing. So, either I’ve been very unperceptive or it isn’t proccing for me. Just to be clear, since it is a trait, it should proc even if you aren’t in Jalis legend at the time, right? Anybody been experiencing this (one way or another, if I’m wrong I’m fine as long as I know).
I really want to vent about this problem, but with such a professional and polite response Gaile, I just can’t bring myself to do so. Can’t say I’m not hugely disappointed, but I appreciate the acknowledgement of it being a boo boo…yes, pun definitely intended
Thank you for taking the time and for the honesty.
Nope, working as intended.
Technically its “outside” Tyria, that gives them an out to block mastery exp gain so that all the grinding we do in there doesn’t also level masteries.
So, I haven’t checked, but using this logic then Fractals, WvW, and PvP should not progress masteries either. Do they progress?
Well … the labyrinth isn’t in Tyria or maguuma
Neither are Fractals…
I just noticed that I’m not making any progress on my Masteries in the Labyrinth (and yes, I’ve unlocked them). Is this a bug perhaps? Very disappointing!
Drinking game. Take a shot of Tequilla every time you get the new build message (must start with launch at 12:01am). I wonder how toasted we’ll get
Max (map completion) on two of them. Various amounts on my other 6 lvl 80 alts.
However, you asked for my main. Sadly I must admit that my main has 0 HP right now. Poor Revenant…
I’m still baffled by how little downtime GW2 has. You guys can even rebuild a whole system without putting down the whole game.
Thanks
I’d imagine it is because they build it separately and then simply upload that copy (with new build) to be live. In this case it is pretty big so will require some additional testing once live. That’s my guess anyway.
That said, I share your amazement as the Anet team has always been on the ball for this type of thing and work very fast.
Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]

Ok, don’t want to sound like I’m complaining too much as I understand this should be kept “elite.” The only thing I don’t like is that it looks like I’m going to have to play through most/all of the content before I’m able to use the elite specs. By the time I get it, I’ll be done with most of the stuff. Sure, I could then use it for raids and WvW, but that is about it except to repeat content I’ve already done.
Then again, maybe I’m wrong. I’m really hoping that the skins take up half or so of the HP required. I’m fine with that as they are just skins, not playable mechanics and skills.
In short, I want to play my elite specs, not just achieve them and then have little left to actually do with them.
They announced release date of 23rd specifically at 12:01am PT. That hasn’t changed. If you are buying from a third party (yuck) then perhaps they are getting the shipment late if physical. If completely digital, no idea why, perhaps you should ask them.
Probably best to put this in the Rev. forum. In fact, there is already a thread for exactly this here:
HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

Researching for months? Where? This has been a hot (no pun intended) forum item for quite a long time. It is also in the HoT FAQs and was part of the announcement for F2P (I think, though not sure on that one).
Anyway, the answer is yes, you must pay as well. You got your money’s worth for buying the original when you did and now if you want the expansion you’ll need to pay for it.
Edit: please excuse if the tone was harsh, wasn’t meant to be, I was just surprised to see the question pop up again.
minions should be meta for pvp. espically for necromancer, hence the name. those of you who say otherwise must not know the definition of necromamcer
Hmm, rather strong accusation for one who apparently hasn’t researched the topic much. Necromancy is just magic that specializes in working with the dead. Sure, creating minions is an aspect of necromancy, however by no means the only one. Communicating with the dead is actually more prevalent in the “history” of necromancy than raising them. Also, manipulating life/death is a large part, such as stealing life force from other to prolong ones own life. Weakening others by disrupting their life force (think debuffing) is often more prevalent as a necromancer.
Overall, in games some of your more recent ones have chosen to focus on the minion piece of it, but if you go back to the roots (D&D) and even beyond up to only just recently you’ll find that minion creation just became populerized with a few recent additions to its long history.
These experience boosters are consumed immediately
why? what’s the thought behind it?
“ok, let’s quickly finish my daily” -> great, now I get +50% xp while just standing in Lions Arch to chat with someone or while I need to be afk for 10 minutes, without wanting to log out
I read it again just to be sure my initial reading was right, and it seems it is. They aren’t going to auto-consume the duration boosters (those are just replacing current liquid experience). the rewards in the future will provide the equivalent of the liquid experience, except THAT will be auto-consumed so you can’t stockpile them.
So, no worries, you won’t waste anything by chatting in LA, the auto-consumed experience is immediate and a set value like the current manually consumed ones are.
I am going to use this build http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vlQQNAseinvN2gS6JvQRVlbossyPU4V5IKYs8ElFNFitMppNtDIANwugJshA-TBSBABUcGAKa/BLVVhS1KMTJ4VK/wTfAAPCAA-e
If i need more armor i can use Knight trinkets instead of Zerkdo you think my build is good? cause i see other builds and stats in my build seems low
Umm, think you posted in the wrong thread (as I don’t see a reference to this topic at all). Try here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/revenant/Revenant-builds/first#post5624282
HoT hasn’t launched yet, so be patient. You’ll have the achievement and title on the 23rd.
Since Halloween is launching the same day as HoT, do we know if that means it is launching at the same time…12:01am PT?
I’m very sad to hear that Mallyx, after tons and tons of feedback, is still considered to be in a good place. I really want to have faith that the feedback is heard and we’ll get him back to his former glory (if not with same mechanic, at least with something equally impressive that flows well with his own traits).
Unfortunately it is looking like somebody put their foot down that Mallyx had to be the boring version it is now and then put their fingers in their ears about anything else regarding him. Please Roy, tell me this isn’t true, or better yet, show us by being creative with what his theme could turn into.
Simply put it seems purely an executive decision to lesson the server load for the HoT maps. Split the population between Halloween and HoT for the first few weeks, which puts less pressure on the servers hosting the HoT maps and thus makes a smoother launch.
Not ideal for the player base that want to do both right away, but works from a design perspective and also makes QoL better for players in the HoT maps as they will experience less initial issues. Quite brilliant on their part, though as a player who wants to do both right away I’m a bit torn (though will be doing Halloween as that is temporary).
Sorry to burst your bubble, rain on your parade, or otherwise sour your mood
However Halloween starts Oct 23 and HoT launches on OCT 23
So there is a good chance the Halloween events will remain vacant as the vast majority of people will be doing HoT related deals. Either that or grinding out new masteries which will no doubt hurt some of the Halloween events.
Honestly, I think this was part of the plan. The way they are keeping the servers handling the HoT maps from being completely overloaded is to launch another wildly popular event at the same time. They are likely hoping to split the community rather than have all of them in one place.
I am so excited, though that is tempered with the fact that it lands on exactly the same day as HoT. I’m torn. The only reason I can think for the exact same launch day is because they want to lighten the server load on the new areas by splitting the population. Why Anet, why!!!!
On another note, I loved the dungeon on the first year, love seeing it come back.
By far #1 is ranged condi weapon
Distant #2 is Deathshroud
really didnt expect to see a single necro main switch to rev.
wow
Yeah, I’ve mained necro since headstart launch. I’ll not be shelving him completely as I do really like the Reaper gameplay, in the end I’m just very interested in the playstyle of Revenant. I’m also a huge lore buff and old time GW1 player and absolutely love the theme.
Wow. So many people will have nothing to aim for within one hour of creating their new alt. Create rev..max level it, max gear it…have nothing to do.
Most people eager for revenant have probably thoroughly familiarised themselves with it through the BWE, so they don’t need their hand held through seventy-nine levels of New Player Experience. Plus, the faster you hit 80, the sooner that character starts contributing to masteries.
And because of the way downscaling works, you need to have at least level 80 gear to avoid getting nasty surprises even in low-level zones.
Personally, I plan on deploying a third birthday scroll, clearing out the fractional experience scrolls from dailies (those have been made so difficult to actually use nowadays without a low-level character), then tome the rest of the way. I also have enough stuff saved up to get a revenant at least decently equipped.
This, plus there are tons of things to do with lvl 80 toons. I have 9 lvl 80 toons and frankly it isn’t very rewarding after the 2nd one (unless you just like that sort of thing), especially after the NPE (though that has been made better I’m told).
I’ll be max leveling him in a few minutes then equipping him so I can get to the fun of HoT content, WvW, Map Completion (downscaling keeps it interesting), Guild Missions, Misc. Guild Events, etc. etc. etc..
Just give Mallyx agony from fractals on EtD and call it a day
hahah that would be lovely OP
Well he is from the Domain of Anguish, would make sense I’d play him all day long if he had a unique mechanic like that, wish there was a way to tone it down not to be OP.
I suggested immediately after changes were announced a potential boon eating mechanic. Specifically, removing boons from yourself and applying the inverse condition to those around you. Would be very demon-y and also have great synergy with all the other legends (especially Glint).
By far #1 is ranged condi weapon
Distant #2 is Deathshroud
