Ummm, you do realize what a “stress test” is don’t you? It wasn’t meant for a large scale beta to test how things work together, they were putting stress on the environment to see how it reacted and to identify glaring bugs. This has to come before any real beta can be planned out. Seems you either didn’t understand the purpose of that time, or you simply want something to react negatively to on the forums.

These are stress tests, be patient. You may be chosen for a larger Beta. I bummed I didn’t get an invite too, but no reason to be mad at those who were chosen. I’m hoping for a weekend beta invite soon, those were very fun.

My only question is why many times the buffs do not apply to myself…

I think it’s coded to not overwrite any food though I’m not 100% sure

This exactly, which is a great thing. The only thing I don’t like is how poorly it scales in lower level zones (at least for the Karma and Magic Find portions).

P-p-p-place holders.

Colin himself has stated that everything can and most likely will change, look at the classes we have now and how they played in Beta.

They’re all completely different.

Placeholders yes, but doesn’t mean without merit. It gives an idea of what type of weapon they are expecting these to be. And as for Betas, I was there too and although they were much different, the same could still be said for them then than I’m saying here now. No reason to be derogatory towards people who are using these skills to speculate.

I don’t know if someone mentioned it already so sorry if you did but, a really hope for scythes or/and whips.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it is confirmed no new weapons. That said, there are a couple of scythe skins for the staff, and Revenant is going to have a melee fighting staff. So, you can fight up close and personal with a “scythe” at least.

I just realized that the removing the energy costs on weapon skills was a HUGE nerf to the trait that spawned a healing orb when you spent energy.

I’m not convinced this is what is going to happen. In fact I expect that it won’t. I can’t see them removing the energy mechanic to the weapon skills. I think these are just rough place holders.

All other legends are race founders, except glint. Glint is a dragon. Glint had egg.s Legends are founders of their races. Glint player dragon race confirmed!

How is Shiro a founder of a race? Mallyx was a Morganite leader, not a founder. Jhalis is also far from the founder of Dwarves, in fact he oversaw the destruction of that race. Unless you consider the stone version of Dwarves a new race, but even then it was “The Great Dwarf” who designed the ritual.

In short, mine will be Sylvari. The glow effect should look cool with this profession and the maps are confirmed to have a lot of expected gameplay during night cycle. That will make my list of toons as follows:

Revenant: Male Sylvari
Necromancer: Male Sylvari
Mesmer: Female Sylvari
Warrior: Male Norn
Gaurdian: Female Norn
Elementalist: Female Norn
Necromancer: Human Female
Thief: Male Charr

Wow, staff cooldowns are huge when not able to swap weapons (as mentioned above). Looks like they want us to either use our legend skills almost entirely (thus depleting energy so we don’t have it even when the skills are off cooldown) or they just want us smacking our enemies with AA most of the time

just think about the fact that there are no energy costs mentioned … be sure that this are just placeholders to replace later as the energy-system is patched in.

That could be, and hopefully is right. I’m really looking forward to melee staff, but I don’t want to just AA all the time. Not to mention that I’m disappointed in the fact it doesn’t have any blast finishers either.

Still no confirmation if there will be a build saver or not as far as I am aware.

One could of course point out that we have clearly survived for almost 2,5 year without one, so it is probably not that high on the priority list.

In an interview during Pax East Colin specifically said they weren’t working on a build saver right now. He thinks it is cool, but currently they aren’t diverting any resources to it.

Because they don’t know how to do it easily and don’t want to invest any resources into developing it. It is a great QoL improvement, but isn’t shiney and eye catching. They are currently only working on the latter.

Currently the following don’t count, but should since they are perfectly integrated pieces of PvE content:

Revenant Legends - Scarlet Briar

Invictus.1503

No Scarlet because she’s not a legend.

Before anyone yells, back up and think about it for a second. She’s not a legend, she’s a FACT. People know her, and know just what she did. There’s solid documentation on a lot of it, and lots of the people that met her are still around.

A legend needs time to grow. To become its own thing. To take on a life of its own. Scarlet’s story hasn’t done that yet. You can say she was epic, but you can’t really call her a legend. Not so soon.

One definition of “Legendary” is remarkable enough to be famous; very well known. which I think Scarlet qualifies for even now. Of course I’m not advocating for her to be one that is channeled as I like a lot of other people better and she doesn’t even make it into my top 10 (maybe top 20 though).

Not necessarily Shiro from factions. Theres still Urgoz and Kanaxai. I can’t see urgoz being very revananty but Kanaxai is a good candidate as any.

Although I’ll be very sad if we don’t get Shiro, Kanaxai would be a good consolation prize. I also think Kanaxai is more likely as it would follow the theme and logic of no human/charr/asura/norn/sylvari. I’m thinking they are tying to avoid the playable race legends so it doesn’t feel weird using a human as a charr character (with the same said for other races).

Invictus.1503

there was talk of spears on land in the expansion, is this happening? i want to phalanx!

No. Revenant is getting Melee staves.
Role play it as a Polearm.

hopefully another class also gets melee staves as specialization.

This claim has no proof.

There is likewise no proof that we are not getting water weapons on land, the subject of the thread in the first place. The only thing that has been stated is that no new weapons are being added in the expansion, however by pretty much any interpretation of that statement, harpoon guns, tridents, and spears are in the game and as such are not new weapons.

That said, I think it is incredibly unlikely we are getting spears or any of the other underwater weapons on land, but all the same, no developer has stated we are not so you can hold out hope for now if you want.

Actually in one of the ladr week’s interview Colin directly confirmed no new weps and no water weps ill come to ground. The staff on the reveal trailer was also, by Colin admission in another previous interview, devs having fun/trolling.
Sorry.
Still you are free to hope all you want…hey maybe they are double trolling us, who knows XD

All true, except for he didn’t say it was devs having fun. He said it was the art team. This was during the time when people expected that the trailer showed a land spear. It is a distinct difference because devs may have made an entire encounter with animations just to start speculation. However the art team would only have the capacity to design the skin shown and/or the concept art that has shown a number of spears.

Have to buy HoT to create a Revenant?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Invictus.1503

Invictus.1503

There is no information regarding purchasing HoT with Gems in-game, one way or the other. There is information, however, regarding the Revenant. You absolutely will need to purchase the expansion to be able to create this new profession.

Good luck.

Actually, there is information about purchasing the game, as opposed to acquiring it for gems. (Emphasis added for clarity.)

Q: Is the expansion “buy to play”?
A: Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns is a paid expansion to Guild Wars 2, but once you buy it, there are no subscription fees. This means that you can continue playing and access future updates for Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns with no subscription fee.

Since gold can be acquired simply through playing the game, using in-game currency is not a form of payment in this context.

And yes, owning Heart of Thorns will be required in order to create a Revenant.

I would suggest updating the FAQ to highlight the the fact that the gem store will not be selling the expansion. Clarity is better than amibiguity

They can’t do that as they haven’t decided whether Gems will be able to be used. They’ve said this in multiple interviews and I believe on these threads too. They know it will be purchasable by real money (thus the wording), but they haven’t decided whether it will be purchasable by Gems yet.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Anet is screwing the pooch here. I understand that crap happens and there’s nothing you can do about it. This is a huge bummer for the players as well as Anet. But perhaps in the future Anet could refrain from hyping an update before they even know whether it’s going to actually work or not yet…

First, you at least put it politely so thank you. That said, this is exactly why they stopped communicating much with the community. If they open up and say something, then get unforeseen delays, or even have to scrap something, they have people up in arms (usually much less polite than this, but the same message).

I miss the early days when they were very open on what they were working on and they’re hopes for the game. Sadly that era ended due to all the negative responses they got when things delayed. They have recently opened up a little (nowhere near what they use to do though) and I’m grateful.

No more Sylvari in HoT?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Invictus.1503

I kind of like the idea of the Sylvari becoming unplayable to all but those already with characters created for a while. Just seeing as any Sylvari that are recently awoken might be unable to resist Mordremoth (its not quite the same as the other races evil part, those under the influence of Mordy would have no free will ). Just my thoughts.

When asked in another forum what race your Revenant will be, a dev said his choice was Sylvari because the glow is great on Revenant. Additionally, in a POI we saw Pop the Sylvari Revenant.

In the end, since Revenant is only in HoT this all but confirms they remain to be a playable race you can create at the launch of HoT.

Im figuring all sylvari will become the enemy. If you have a sylvari every non sylvari will see you as an enemy and vice verse, so you could be attacked anywhere even in cities, even by npc unless your at the sylvari home or base. Also you can attack any non sylvari, pve, www, etc. should make things interesting.

Wow, just wow. There is just no way. There will likely be special dialog for Sylvari that show distrust by other races. May be an extra mission option or two (they said they are going back to giving options), but nothing that changes the game dramatically. If they really did what you are proposing, they’d likely lose a LOT of players, including me. I don’t want to stop off to get stuff out of my bank, and then end up getting killed while managing my inventory.

This has already been covered here:https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/The-New-Defiance-Article

Got a relevant quote? Dev post in that topic only talks about what depleting the bar will do.

From the Tentonhammer interview http://www.tentonhammer.com/interview/guild-wars-2-interview-jon-peters-and-kevin-stocker-talk-defiance-wyvern

Jon: One thing I will say is that because the Defiance bar is going to be in the core game, we’re not going to keep the old Defiance system on the old bosses. They’re going to use at least the most basic version of – they have a bar that you have to work together to break to stun this creature. That is the most basic version and that is the version that will exist which we retrofit that we don’t have time to do more on. That’s in every part of the game, not just Heart Of Thorns.

but i definitly appreciate first-person view coming if it does
always nice for screenshots

In general I’d agree, however so many have very tight spaces that the camera can’t penetrate well and you can’t see your next jump very easily. In those cases switching to first person will be a godsend.

The FoV slider will also be rather great depending on how it is implemented (I’m optimistic).

Please no. I don’t care how many people run around wearing it, but an outfit means no mix & match. I want it as an armor so I can pick it apart and combine it with other armors to make a cool look.

I dont like mix&match. In many cases ppl think they created something “cool” but in fact they look like a joke. No offense but that how it is. Sure theres a few that actually looks pretty decent, but everything else…

On another note i wish this set was to revenants olny as their iconic set. In b4 fake “revenants” called guardians and warriors with blindfold..

No offense taken as “cool” is different for everybody. The point is options and an outfit limits those options significantly. As for the blindfold, you can already have a blindfold as they are already in game. Limiting an armor to a specific profession goes against their three armor type model and I’m fine with that. Otherwise we end up like we had in GW1 where you could only where very specific profession armor.

Why can’t I be both. I plan to make a Revenant, insta-level to 80 with my tomes, and jump into the jungle to learn the jungle and the Revenant at the same time. That’ makes me both type of people by your definition.

So many complaining about the stability change. As a Necro main, I say suck it up. People like me have had to live with little to no stability for years now so we’re use to it. Besides, I doubt it will be as bad as people are making it out to be in the end.
