I like the in game acquisition, and the other boxes all gave a way around pure RNG, but the coat is really getting on my nerves. I have the first one because of the achievement award, but with a week of doing the Vinewrath event I still haven’t had a single drop.
So, what exactly is the point of reiterating in your own words the story? A lot of posts, pics, and no message that I’m seeing.
I’ve been thinking about the Sylvari who turned on the pact in the final scene of this living story and have a theory that may help tie together some Personal Story with current events as well as explain how PC Sylvari won’t be affected.
My speculation is that anybody who embraces the Pale Tree’s dream is protected. Soundless are susceptible, as are nightmare court. The explanation for all the Sylvari turning on the pact is simple in my mind.
- Some were soundless
- Some may have been nightmare court (but unlikely)
- The rest were Sylvari from Malyck’s tree that have been under Mordy’s influence for quite some time since they don’t have a dream to protect them. Mordy has proven to be smart, so he could have had them slowly infiltrate and join the pact until just the right moment. Very few people know of the existence of another tree so nobody would have questioned any Sylvari who wanted to join the pact.
Now, as for the future, we see all Sylvari being prosecuted. This is understandable because who could tell a Pale Tree Sylvari from a Mordy Sylvari aside from perhaps the Pale Tree herself?
Thoughts?
Additionally we now find out that Caithe new all along that Sylvari were dragon minions. When she found out about Maylyck she had to be concerned at the least as it seems plausible that the pale tree told Caithe about how she protects the Sylvari through the dream.
Malyck has no dream, so Caithe had to be worried. I wouldn’t be surprised if she killed Malyck before he got home. Or perhaps scouted to see where he went after.
As for Malyck not singing mordy’s praises, perhaps the Sylvari from his tree simply haven’t been controlled yet since he wasn’t awake. Now that he is awakening he is taking control.
Speculation: Perhaps the bulk of the Sylvari who turn on the pact at the end, were actually infiltrated Sylvari from the second tree. Almost nobody knows about the second tree, so wouldn’t have thought to question a Sylvari joining the pact.
Hate to bring logic into it, but they unisex them for male, because the female versions have a strong focus and reliance on breasts. They are designed largely around this feature. Not to say those without breasts can’t dress feminine, but the models that Anet has been creating are made for adult females with large mammary glands. No prominent breasts means they get the male version. Sorry as I don’t like it either

Is this one here a mursat or maybe a seer?
I think it is a seer. No wings, seer color, and seer collar. Though where there is a seer and white mantel, there is likely mursaat. I’d love to see them return, absolutely loved that race!
The problem with the forgotten ritual theory is Mawdrey. It seems like Mordrem can actually be trained, in a formative stage, to not be jerks, unless Mawdrey is a joke and not canon.
Maybe the forgotten ritual isn’t needed for them. Unlike any of the other known dragon minions, Mordrem are living things, not magically animated constructs of dead flesh, crystal, corrupted ice, or semi-molten stone. They may naturally have some independent will of their own on that account.
On the other hand, clearly the dragon can corrupt Sylvari who were raised in the Dream. So, presumably, a lot of people are going to be strangled by their backpieces when they head deeper into Maguuma.
LOL not like a lot of people use it, it does not go with a lot of other armor and looks lopsided.
Can not remember when last I saw someone use the skin.
I use it on my mesmer female sylvari. Works very well with one of the make-over kit hair styles and the right color scheme. Admittedly though, my other 8 toons can’t make it work so she is the only one wearing it.
He started talking and I immediately thought Mad King Thorn. Sounds like the same voice to me.

Open ended. If they can get the voice actors in line (new contract) they survive. If they have further issues getting them to commit, they kill them. :P
uuu didnt think we ever really die i was more like we get knocked out?
in fairy tales its quite common kids go on adventure
or do we get legal cases against Hensel and Gretel?
Uhhh…you know those Mother Goose Fairy Tales were just retold versions of the Grimm Fairy Tales where there aren’t such happy endings, right?
and whats ur point ?
Their point is to read the original Grimm tales. You don’t know what you think you know about the real story :P
I think people will find it disturbing to look at dying kids
This, it would cause a lot of PR issues, and even some legal issues in some areas of the world.
Although I somewhat agree, NCsoft have already made at least one game where you can make a child-like character. In Aion you can do this: you can make your character short in stature and proportioned like a child, with a child-like face and even wih a child-like voice and phrases.
I’m not sure what the PR response was like for this, but I’d assume it was neutral at worst considering you can still create a child character.
As it goes, you can kinda already make child-like characters in GW2. Human character creation has a load of soft-featured, round, child-like faces along with more child/teen-like body choices. The only thing that would ruin the immersion for me is that this “child-character” would still have an adult voice… which is a little disturbing :P
I certainly wouldn’t mind more customisability in the game. I’d hope that they would add new faces and body styles for all races. It’d be good to see more diversity and I’d hope that if they added the option to make your character look younger, they’d also add something to make your character look more elderly. I’d also hope that with the increased customisability there would be a choice of character voices as well in order to better suit your choices.
First, there is a difference between “child-like” and an actual child. Not to mention, Anet has actually already given a base reason for this in an interview. From the interview (referencing Taimi):
ESRB has policies against harming children, Scruffy (her golem), is ANet’s answer to that. He will do anything to protect her, fight, become a bunker, or even just pick her up and walk away from danger. Scruffy was Taimi’s own creation.
I think people will find it disturbing to look at dying kids
This, it would cause a lot of PR issues, and even some legal issues in some areas of the world. Not to mention that the adventure represents years of practice and experience in a profession before they are proficient enough to set out into the world (in Sylvari cases the experience is relayed via The Dream) even as a lvl 1 character.
The one that kills me, of course.
+1 for the laugh
Can’t see them expanding on this. That said, I use some of the heritage armor on new toons I create. I also use the staff skin and occasionally the ice crown (during this time of year). The fiery-dragon sword is just flashier so you notice it more.
Granted they aren’t all that hard, but logging in for AP seems silly to me. Tell me, exactly what did you “achieve” by just logging in that deserves an “Achievement Point”
Achivement done thanks for help, finaly figured out the right time to press the skill. Was going way early xD.
Glad you got it. I was doing the exact same thing for a while and was getting very frustrated. Once I realized the proper timing it became much easier.
Yesterday I opened around 5k gifts and like many others, wasnt too keen on all the clicking. I just opened 10 more stacks and want to give a breakdown on how much more clicks are needed to break down all loot:
2.5k gifts – 5k clicks
20 stacks of essence of luck, refined into 600 exotic/legendary essences – 1200 clicks
1150 rune/sigil boxes – 2300 clicks
190 selectable rune/sigil boxes 760 clicks
1100 boxes of winter clothing – 2200 clicks
380 unsafe gifts – 760 clicks
850 bottle shaped gifts – 1700 clicks
310 finisher books – 620 clicks
1650 beautiful clothing – 1650 clicks with SOM
Wow, what are the odds that you would get not only an even number, but a number cleanly divisible by 10 for every item you received… :P
The only issue I can see with linking the dailies to certain events is it could restrict some players, say they use Teq for example,
12am <—sleeping
8am <—heading to work/school
4pm<—still at work/schoolI don’t know why they are restricting it, maybe this is just an intro and they will add more dailies to it, unless the rewards are outstanding for doing this now, but I think that for a game that is play the way you want, but if you do and don’t play the way we want you to play you wont get rewarded, is the wrong way to go.
This is exactly my concern with having certain events linked to dailies. Even the more frequent spawning events still limit you, especially if you are like me and have maybe 2 or so hours a day to play (when the kids go to bed). I may want to do the event, but if I’m not playing at the right times, I simply can’t
The big issue here for me is not that the break is happening. I expect a break, I am glad the employees are given a holiday break (my company for example only gives 2 days break). What I don’t like is the apparent poor schedule planner for this episode. It seems that little to no thought was given to the segmentation of the story. If you are going to have a nearly 2 month break, you should leave the audience with some sort of conclusion, not an end that frankly just seemed like a forced cliffhanger.
Please, take a look at your schedule and segment the story in a bit better way in the future. I’m a fan, and although don’t agree with everything, have enjoyed this part of the LS season. I just question some of the project owner’s decisions on things like this as it feels like it was an “oops we ran out of time to finish” rather than a well thought out project plan.
Not to belittle your concern, but I find a 3 day delay to not only be acceptable (considering alternatives), but also a non issue. I would hope you can trust yourself to not spend the gold for at least 3 days
We were given four seeds, yes?
Unless I’m counting wrong, we only used three in the episode…
…what about the fourth?
This was clearly explained, and a major plotline for next episode, not sure how you missed it. At the end, your character clearly states that the last seed must be used in the cave beyond the door you can’t enter. Marjory says she will go back to the Priory to research how to open the door so you can get in and use the seed. The story then ends there.
There is a topic in the main forum discussion on this already. See here for that discussion:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Caithe-s-Dagger/first#post4600831
My response there was:
Those daggers will likely be in the gemshop shortly. Same as Marjory, Brahm, Rox, Belinda, and Kasmeer weapons. I suppose it could be a drop somewhere like Scarlet’s weapon, but I find that highly unlikely.
The Tribal armor set and other armor sets that were sPvP-exclusive will be obtainable again at some point in the future. There is no ETA as to when this will happen.
Excellent, thank you for the reply and clarification. Hopefully we’ll be able to obtain them through non-PvP means as I’ve been wanting it since launch (beta allowed the armor in PvE). Appreciate the response.

Considering how many updates have been all about your character, controlling a different character is something neat to say. Still, if you get to know how Caithe works in the game, from my experience, it makes me want to roll an actual thief and complain to Anet that I want her skills. XD
I don’t disagree exactly, but it does ruin the replayability a bit for me. Very much mixed feelings on this
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed The Seeds of Truth, however something was missing and it took me a moment to pinpoint it. Unlike other LS, I could enjoy it slightly differently with my alts because my alts play so differently (Mesmer and Guardian for example) and although the story was the same, it felt different. This time around, they all play the same, with the same skills and armor. This left me a bit sad that I truly couldn’t explore it with multiple aspects of my account and have different experiences.
Agreed, staff is in a good place for what it is designed to do. Ax needs rework in my opinion and dagger life siphon skill as well. If the conjecture is true, then we add greatsword to our mix and if done well will solve a number of problems (not all mind you, but a number)
I seriously want to be sauron at some point.
but what would a hammer necro do?
Shameless nitpicking, but Sauron used a large mace, not a hammer. So if you want to be Sauron as a necro, you’d need to be able to use a mace.
My theory is that Malyck is dead. Caithe killed Malyck as she determined he was a possible threat given how the story progressed. With recent LS updates I’ve also been toying with the idea that after killing him she ventured further west and actually found the other tree and has been influenced by it (whether mentally or simply through appeal). This led to her reasoning for stealing Glint’s egg as she feels it will benefit her new tree in some way.
The first part about her killing Malyck I’ve held to for a long time and believe that is what Scarlet knows about her and perhaps if the second part of my theory is correct Scarlet may know about Caithe’s relationship with the second tree as well.
We dont know if we won`t be “boomeranging” back to Dry Top during the LS there are tons of skritt holes there. That might be one reason they didn`t apply seperate loot tables.
Oooh, I would love it if some of these Skrit Holes became portals from one zone to the other to connect Silverwaste and Dry Top. Doubtful in my mind, but I can hope!
I have to agree, the BL Key was a nice addition. Originally I was rather P.O.ed about not getting a glove box for every toon that completed it, but have since come to terms on that and find it only a very slight annoyance rather than a real issue. In the end, I think I prefer this key reward.
Simply put, thanks!
Caithe taking the egg makes perfect sense.
How do you hide such a thing and prevent your enemy from getting it? by hiding it from your allies too who are trying to find it also. If you know there is a spy what do you do? Get your most trusted, secretive ally to help. Prevent all enemy and friend from knowing anything. The enemy would follow the allies to find that thing you want to protect. Caithe not saying anything and no time to explain simply means she will be the only one to be able to hide the egg from ALL. only she will know. It is her Wylde hunt. She does not kill the master of peace at all but rather knowing he was about to die and the rest distracted by eagerly waiting to hear what he was going to say she snook in there at the most opportune time to take the egg. At any other time she would be prevented from doing so so easily. This is exactly what i would do given the fact Mordremoth and his mob would follow you to prevent the security of the egg from developing in peace. Caithe has an uncanny ability of making sure no-one knows where she is. It is the perfect strategy for the preservation of the egg and to make sure it does NOT fall into the wrong hands. If only she knows then if she dies she takes the secret location details with her.to sum up.
To prevent the enemy from finding out especially with spies is to not allow your allies to even know preventing any spy or information accidentally leaking out. Protecting the egg and everyone else in the process.
DO NOT think Caithe is bad. Think carefully. It is the most logical move for any tactician. A thief is great for this role and the best thief is the most perfect to carry out the role unlike any other class. It also stops arguments between the orders as what to do.
If this is her motivation, her logic is very flawed. Regardless of intent, she seems smart enough to know that we would not give up on the egg so easily. Even if she says it is all for the better (and her being Sylvari doesn’t help given that race’s current reputation). She should also know that her own allies in Destinies Edge won’t sit idle either. Furthermore, if the egg is hidden from everybody, nobody will be able to use it (for good or ill).
So, the logical conclusion is that the PC and all the primary NPCs will be looking for the egg. This will cause suspicious behavior that Mordemoth will pick up on and thus allow his servants to track. Had she not taken the egg, it could have been secured quietly. As it is, there is going to be a ruccus that will alert the enemy as well as delay the allies.
This looks great. Though I don’t recognize the woman (human?) who is turning into Caithe, anybody else recognize her? Also love to get Faolain in the story! Love that character.

It’s the palyer character , i’m like 99,9% sure of that
After reading the captions and watching it more, I think you’re right. Looks like the Pale Tree is going to give us a vision of Cathe’s past and we are going to play through an instance as Caithe. Probably shortly after they awoke as it looks like the Asura are experimenting on Sylvari.

Remember, the content is sticking around. Long term goal. RNG will be eliminated as we get the special extractors and the rest can be received from playing the game. You don’t have to get the set right away (I say this, but personally I am). As long as the map doesn’t die (I really hope it doesn’t) then you can get all the stuff you need months from now if you wish. That way you can just come back and play the map when you feel like it and not get so burned out.
My theory is this:
- Caithe killed malyck as he was looking for his tree
- Caithe found the second tree
- Caithe made contact with the second tree and is now working on his/her (not sure of tree’s gender) behalf
- Either that tree wanted the egg, or Caithe believed it would somehow benefit the tree so she stole it.
I want to know if the “etc.” also means crafting station? I’m happy either way, but currious
I have a theory about Caithe that at first I was just kidding about, but now give it slightly more credence. Caithe found the other pale tree in her travels and has become a double agent actually working for the other pale tree. That tree has need of Glint’s egg, or Caithe thinks it will benefit the new tree and so is getting it for him/her.
I like this theory. My first thought was that maybe Caithe stole the egg for Faolain. After all, Scarlet did say she knew a deep dark secret of Caithe’s, which we never got to find out. Something made me think maybe she has already succumbed to the Nightmare Court.
Scarlet also said the secret was something that neither the Pale Tree nor Faolain knew. If the secret is that Caithe was working for Faolain all along, I think Faolain would know it.
Glint didn’t really die, she killed Caithe and then assumed her identity and faked her own death. She stole the egg because she wanted it back!
Just kidding. A slightly more plausable secret would be that Caithe found the other pale tree and is secretly working for it and that pale tree wants the egg!
We were given options in the last episode on how to get the pieces. You could play and grind the map, or you could play the story with multiple characters (talking PvE only here). This was great, new armor and a choice on how to obtain it.
For some reason it seems they decided that choice and options were bad things. I don’t understand the logic at all.
See this active thread.
Before I knew how to make the Luminescent shoulders, I made the horrifying mistake of unlocking the skin and then deleting the medium shoulders… ugh.
That doesn’t matter, you’re still good. All you need is to unlock the skin as it is a collection reward.
Glad you like it. Not my cup of tea personally. I don’t think the Labyrinth fits into the story well or the map and I don’t care for it. But then I guess I don’t have to like everything.
Makes perfect sense to me both lore and mechanically. We are fighting a plant creature and its minions who come up from the ground. Vines are perfectly logical as an extension of such beasts.
I saw him the other day in the open world of Silverwaste. Up near the dead giant.
Yeah, I just ran through it with an alt as well and was very annoyed! Really hope this is a bug and gets hot fixed!
Edit: Hopefully a bug, but I think I know why this happened. In the Tangled Paths, the chest with the gloves is a reward for completing “Tangled Paths Episode” in the achievements. The original episode had it as a mission reward.

First off, love the quote. Of course, I think somebody forgot to tell Brun Ingotspitter that he IS orange!
I thought the same thing just now as I finished it. Very very short (dialog was much longer than the actual playable piece). I understand they wanted to leave a cliff hanger, but really?
Oh well, don’t want to complain too much as “Echoes of the Past” was so great. Of course, the teaser image of Rytlock didn’t even come into play at all which I found very surprising.
Today is the date for the new patch. Although the patch isn’t up, the message and the LS might be on a timer and thus showing it as inactive. I’d try to activate it in the Hero panel if you haven’t already, but I fear that the message was timed. Had you logged in by yesterday I’m sure it would have unlocked.
