I’m ready for the Living Story to giveth back a reconstructed LA. Current LA was cool for a few months, but now it is rather ugly. I mean, what have those workers been doing for these last 8ish months?! The same guy has been hammering on the same bridge all this time and not a single plank has been fixed, that guy needs to be fired!
I think it would upset a number of people. Just look at the huge backlash on the Personal Story. It could all be soloed up until the end which is a 5 man dungeon. That has caused major complaint. I think they learned their lesson on this.
All of that said, the Living Story did actually try this in the first few episodes and I for one really enjoyed it. Remember the “Flame and Frost: Retribution” chapter? It ended with a well made (in my opinion) dungeon called the “Molten Facility.”
So, I think some would like it, but they’d also get hate from a large enough population that they won’t likely risk it.
Ha! I noticed this too. It is slightly annoying, but figured it was so minor few other people really cared. But now that you mention it…
It would be a major undertaking. One I’m sure they’ve been working on, but may be a while to see it. I’m by no means an expert, but a few things off the top of my head are:
-Determine cost/benefit analysis which is likely done by a team of people
-Devote company resources to a new project
-Determine project management and prioty
-Create the artistic model (assuming you are wanting a style weapon that already exists. If you want a new weapon like “whip” you have to create lots and lots of models)
-Get sign-off on the design (likely it will be redone multiple times)
-Digitize the art of the item
-Get sign-off on the design (likely it will be redone multiple times)
-Work the physical dimentions of the digital item
-Test in simulated environment with proxy models
-Test in more realistic proxy environment
-Test with multiple charactor models and existing armor types
-Test on test servers
-Live testing
I’ll stop there. However that is just to get the model. Other things that need done are to determine rarity, where it fits in game, in-game aquisition method, and a plethora of things I’m sure I haven’t thought of here.
So… in another nod to your heritage, we get to travel to the Underworld to save Rytlock?
Terrorweb dryders, dream riders, reapers (why else would we suddenly have the Avatar of Death finisher :P) galore as we revisit one of our favourite dungeons of old GW1, now updated to see us come to Rytlock’s aid uniting the Ghosts of Ascalon who are trapped there and free them of the Foefire curse once and for all, both in the Underworld and above ground…Thanks for getting my hopes up!
This theory was a stretch, I must admit, but having seen Anet go the lengths with their revisit to Glint’s Lair in Ep. 5, I have faith they can do it.
Who knows, I certainly hope there’s a little rescue action in the Mists of Rytlock for this next chapter and that we get to see some cool locations we’re all nostalgic about from GW1
Going to the Underworld to save Rytlock would be monumental and I think I would jump for joy. Another theory would be go to the mists and meet Razah again which I’d be equally excited about.
In any case, I want to add my voice to the many here about this episode. It has everything one could want from a LS addition and was extremely well put together. I’m very much looking forward to its continuation and think all involved should get a bonus for their work on this one!

Not everyone knows about those. I’d normally link them but since he was still doing it, and had been for the past hour, I was more direct with my answer.
Fair enough (though even a google search pulls those up right away). Perhaps I’m a bit cynical. I simply get annoyed when people ask questions without even attempting to find out for themselves (in other words expecting other people to do the task and hand them the result).
That said, point taken and perhaps I just need to lower my expectations of the general populous. No sarcasm intended there either.
Or Bing. Whatever.
People come here for answers because it’s the GW2 FORUMS!
Obviously the best place to ask for advice. Don’t be so cynical. If you need to lower your expectations, perhaps they are set a bit too high.
Remember, “Welcome to Tyria. How can I assist?”
Be the solution, not the problem please.
Seems your post was simply directed at me rather than as any helpful piece to this topic. Seems you too can take your own advise. My expectations are for people to do a little legwork themselves before asking to be given everything (especially when it is minimal effort). But as mentioned perhaps those expectations are too high (a point I made and therefore your observation was redundant at best).
All said, I will not be replying to any further comments made on this subject as it is not helpful and I have no intention of exacerbating the issue. So feel free to respond if you have a need for getting the last word, otherwise happy gaming!

Dunno about a single LS currency (it doesn’t bother me too much, except for the inv space issue), but for sure we need them (the LS currencies) to be added in the wallet. It’s already there… it wants your crests, geodes, etc…
Space problems solved.
Completely agree. Keep currencies separate (encourages uniqueness of the zone and people to play those zones for specific rewards), but PLEASE put them in the wallet. This is exactly why the wallet was created (back then it was due to all those dungeon tokens).
The only reason I can think for not putting them in the wallet is yet another example of simply not wanting to take the time to adjust existing code which just seems lazy. Other examples is not counting Mordrem in the “Plant Slayer” title track or not counting Dry Top and Silverwastes as Maguuma for the daily achievement.
For the same reason that Dry Top and Silverwaste do not count as Maguuma for the purpose of the daily. I believe that reason is simply because either nobody thought to, or simply didn’t want to, update old code to include new areas and enemies.
Like others have said, replay the story on 2 alts if you have to have it now. Otherwise, 1000 crests are easy enough to come by even casually. However if you find that difficult, just remember that it isn’t going away. This is permanent content so you have no real time limit on how long it takes. Make it your goal.
150k views. Long time no see. WvW would be interesting with siege turtles etc.
Yes! The return of siege turtles would be fantastic.
I’m sure they will. Easy gemstore profit for very little work (not to say that’s a bad thing at all).
It fails occasionally due to height differences, but more often than not it simply fails because I fail to judge the 600 range well enough. Would like it if it simply didn’t let you use it, but didn’t go on cooldown if out of range. That would be a great improvement for me.
I use portal a lot for getting guildies and friends in and out of areas. CoF P1 for example to skip the rolling flame boulders is one example. Helping friends through jumping puzzles is another. Ensuring people can keep up in guild puzzles is yet another.
If you are looking for a combat use, I’ve played around with it for this use and not found a good practical combat purpose. Would love to see if anybody has any advice there.
Can you get precursors from those chests? If not it makes the chances of them dropping in those areas a very ridiculous 0%.
I have received an exotic and I seem to remember that anywhere you can get exotic drops you can also get precursers (which are exotics themselves). So my guess is that you can.

I have the following and the benefit for me is variety and fun. I get bored with the same thing all the time, so like to play different toons quite often. It also let’s me have what is needed/wanted in almost any situation. Finally, in the latest LS you are rewarded per toon (rather than account) for completion so it was nice to get those rewards playing through the story.
- Two 80 Necros
- 80 Mesmer
- 80 Warrier
- 80 Guardian
- 80 Thief
- 80 Elementalist
- 80 Engineer
- 80 Ranger
- 28 Mesmer (newest)
Yes, this was brought up on a few threads, but am happy to have more opinions on it. I think we REALLY need this. They are truly currencies and thus have no business being left out of the wallet. Hopefully Anet can expand this in the near future.
3 hours of waiting for the executioner and he never appears. I don’t know why Anet makes these achievements such an unpleasant experience. I have no desire to return to this map after this terrible time I’m having there. Really getting tired of this game.
Although I obviously enjoy the map more than you as I plan to play even after all achievements are done, I still agree with the part about the legendary boss itself. They should spawn a little more regularly as I’ve been playing the map every day for at least a few hours each and have only seen 2 of the 4 legendary bosses.
My suggestions, set that at least 1 of the bosses spawns every hour. It keeps it somewhat random, but at least you know it is coming and it wouldn’t take long before you got all of them.
I got them fine even during the chest farm. Of course the chest farm has been fixed (as mentioned above) so there is no blaming that anymore if you can’t get the achievement. But be patient, the patch has been out for 1 week, you don’t need to get every achievement in the first few days anyway.
The new trailer is up, looks rather action packed!

You call that a lot? I have 2 full characters who can’t walk a step because their overflowing laden 20 slot bags are spilling this —-- on the floor everywhere. Rata Sum cleaners hate me. Everywhere I go I leave dust red footsteps, I practically have a new legendary effect on the floor going. I haven’t made Mawdrey for fear he’d suicide if he saw the mountain he’s gota deal with.
+1 for such a creative response
That title is a spoiler by itself. Recommend retitling and adding “spoiler” to it.
Your—grawl—impression—is—really—coming—along.
This. He says this WAY too often relative to his other lines. I’d be happy if the only change they made was to nerf the hell out of(or remove entirely…) this one freaking line.
Perfectly agree I love my backpack, but I cringe everytime I hear this line. As for the main topic, I made my point earlier. This backpiece is no different than the normal sayings the races say. In particular I hear “I can outrun a centaur” so much it gets on my nerves.
Yes, I agree completely. I would hate to have to start all over when one is failed. Especially with all the long dialog beforehand. I loved every bit of this update.
I play the living story episodes with my 8 year old son.
During the last boss fight, I was getting frustrated, but he explained to me what we had to do. Once he did that, we were able to easily defeat the boss.
I played it again solo, later on, and it was trivial, with the mechanics already in mind.
Short answer: next time, get help from a young person.
I tried that and my daughter just said “go to the purple circle daddy” (she’s three )
In all seriousness though, I think a lot of people complaining just wanted to go into another DPS attack battle and didn’t pay attention to the tutorials before the final boss (you know, the Facet of Light and Facet of Darkness).
My advice is simple. Grow up and don’t let such things bother you. This is simply a few words from a person of no consequence to your life and obviously immature and childish. Pity the person taking such time to whisper you like that as they are a very a sad little being.
I think this is a great idea! Would love to use it on Asura boots.
Exchanging gems for gold would be too confusing for new players so you have to level up a bit before you have that option.
As a counter point, I get very annoyed by hearing “I could outrun a centaur” all the time in the same setting. I don’t see this as any different than the other repetitive phrases I constantly hear.
The charr fractal takes place right before the foe fire so we already have a charr side perspective of it. There is so many things Anet could tie into here. Perhaps rytlock runs into komir and she gives him vital info on the dragons.
That’s the Searing, actually.
It’s the foe fire. The charr never breached ascalon city before the day of the foe fire. The charr used the searing to breach the wall but we’re unable to breach the city
According to Wiki, it was the searing. I’d also have to agree based on the content itself.
I think you know the answer to that.
“most unkillable”
I do not think that word means what you think it means. Unkillable is not subject to degrees, it either is or isn’t unkillable.
Anyway, I couldn’t resist on that. I’m sure you mean which is more durable and I’d say that all things being equal the warrior would likely win out.
I doubt it will be player usable. You see a lot of those in the new Pact camp. Listing it as a pistol is probably just for the way the NPCs carry it, not for real purposes. Besides, it is a welding torch, they have short fire streams, not projectiles.
I do have the glasses, commander tag and map completion done already. and most of the titels here listed I have, just not gwamm, but its ok ill just ignore it because i like my hom titles and gwamm is just too hard for me.
and if u guys think I’m trolling, I can post pics of the burn marks on my arm from last week?
I really don’t want to make light of your issue as it seems you have a real mental illness that you should really get treated. A game is meant for relaxing, not for causing distress. My advice is to quit the game for now and focus on getting yourself help.
The real reason they have stopped mob drops on this map is due to the ever increasing trends of maps failing events on purpose in order to continue spawning mobs and getting loot as the rewards for most are better if you fail vs. if you succeed. This has led to a plethora of issues, not the least of which is bad community members yelling at people who try to succeed. This seems to be their answer to that behavior (make it more profitable to succeed than to fail).
I found it quite the opposite. I did this within the hour that the patch was up (like I always do when I’m able) and had no guides. It took a bit of observation of my surroundings, however I figured it out without burning too many brain cells.
I frankly loved it. Most fights in these stories have been mindless DPS battles, but this one was a quick puzzle of sorts and high DPS builds gave no benefit. I have to give major props to the person who designed all of those boss fights!
There’s not a bleeping thing I would change about this update. It is wonderfully done both in mechanics and in story. All the extra tidbits for GW1 players is also fantastic. The new map is outstanding as well. Great job to all who worked on this one.
To each their own. I love his speech. The only thing I would say is the comment about the grawl impression is 1) not that funny and 2) plays too often. Cut down on that one comment and he’s perfect!
How many topics do we need on this exact complaint? There are two of them already (both on the front page of this forum) and one of them, amusingly, is right next to this topic on my list when I clicked.
Bottom line, I did this on Necro, Mesmer, and Thief. Facet of light simply required a bit of change of tactics away from phantasm to GS3, Sword 1&2, Mantra of Pain, and Timewarp. I barely noticed any difference in speed from mesmer to necro.
If you do nothing but phantasms, sure it takes a little longer, but realize you have some other skills and you’ll go far.
I’ve done this with a Necro, Thief, and Mesmer so far. While the phantasms issue made the facet of light a bit slower, using sword (great weapon!), time warp, mantra of pain made it not much different than my Necro’s time. When I started, I hit with mind stab (GS) while I ran up on him then used the above mentioned sword and utility skills to take him out.
As a side note, clones and phantasms did very well in the other two fights by keeping the facets distracted while I went about the mechanics to kill them.
This might be an amusing thread, but the huge chunks of metal are staying put(that’s a fact), they’re much to large to be removed.
There are lots of ways to move them, so I’d be careful about throwing around strong words like “that’s a fact.” Granted it would be an undertaking, but not insurmountable. A few examples would be
- Asura tech can levitate an entire city, so why couldn’t the same tech be adapted to move large metal chunks
- Charr ingenuity is legendary and they have very large equipment themselves. I’d suggest they could cut the large metal chunks into more manageable pieces
- A group of airships could work together to harness and airlift them out
That said, the cost and resources may not be worth it if they can build it into the architecture so that part of your idea isn’t without merit and may actual be cool. I’m just not convinced they don’t at least have options.
All of those NPC necros seem to get to use GS, my necro wants one too! Actually I’d prefer a Great Axe like the executioner axe toy, but I’ll take a GS instead.

I like the hat. Wish I could wear the hat without the rest of the outfit really.
The instance at the first fort where you meet up with the pact for the first time is worse. Supposedly you have just setup this fort and are using it to launch an offensive, however you are surrounded by a destroyed fort with Mordromoth vines all over the place. It just seems ridiculously commical.
Here you go
For people who dont know, Storm Wizard weapons are from completing SAB world 2 in tribulation mode.
Think we’re still looking for context here. Why do you believe they may be offered outside of SAB? Is there some data mined indication we are mising?
Yes please. These are obviously currencies, so please put them in the wallet. I get the special currency trend lately to encourage playing on that particular map for particular rewards. I frankly support this too, just don’t make me carry stacks of these.
Additionally, it is very awkward for those of us who play with many alts. Transferring the currency from one toon to the next is rather annoying and I think one of the main reasons the wallet was put in place initially. Please help!
Please rebuild, I’m really getting tired of a destroyed hub. It was cool when it happened, and it was cool for a few months after, but 8 months of rubble is very annoying. Please give us a significantly rebuild LA for Wintersday!
