Hey everyone,

While this is currently working as intended, it’s definitely something that we’ll be working on and tweaking in the future. We want you to be able to enjoy your minis so hang in there!

Thank you for the reply, however it seems to be a rather big flaw. That said, glad you are working on it because I just had my mini surpressed and almost immediately after was asked to change maps because of the low population. I looked around, and nobody near me either. Seems to be a mighty glaring flaw if you ask me.

They make a game we can play as we want, wandering and enjoying content and gameplay. Then they ‘fix’ the trait system, making it so we have, basically, one path we HAVE to follow to level. Or lose out on traits as we want them. Then they ‘fix’ leveling so we not only have one path to follow as we level for traits, we get no versatility on our play style, either.

Next ‘feature pack’ will involve removing all personalization from characters, making it so we all look alike. After all, we already all have to act alike.

They slowly started this already with the “Outfit” system. We use to get armor sets that we could mix and match and personalize. Now we get outfits that all we can do is dye four pieces.

I’m thinking of creating a new toon and was going back and forth on creating a 2nd Mesmer, or my first Ele. Currently I have 2 80 necros, 80 Mesmer, 80 War, 80 Gaurd, 80 Thief, 80 Ranger, and 80 Engineer. I tried Ele almost 2 years ago and hated it so never went back. Now I want to try to go back, but need advise.

Primarily this will be for PvE fun (likely some dungeon runs when people ask for an Ele) and WvW zerging with guild mates. Build advise is welcome. Thanks in advance for the help.

The skill point challenges are irrelevant since you can’t use the skills to later anyway. They unlock when you need them.

I’m just stunned this is so painful for some people.

I wouldn’t say irrelevant. They are needed for map completion, they still give skill points for use later (without having to come back to maps you’ve already done), and they give experience so you get up in levels quicker which is very much needed for the awful system now at low levels.

You should be able to get into your bank right away.

OP never brought up a problem with the bank….
Its all the other horrible changes that are the problem

Vayne was suggesting that as a work around for his immediate problem, which is not being able to get a different weapon. The OP could collect it with another toon, put it in the bank, then collect it with his newly created one.

This solves his immediate problem, but doesn’t make any of the other stuff better.

So, it seems that my reflect build is nowhere near as useful anymore. Just running around I’ve found all sorts of things that shoot their projectiles straight through my feedback and iWarden. Burning Effigies for example and many champs and bosses as well. This is very disheartening to me. I don’t want to run a condition or PU build in PvE, but they just keep pushing in that direction.

Makes those level to 20 scrolls a lot more valuable now.

Thankgoodness I had one in my bank. I had certain unlocks pop up retrospectively having used the scroll to jump to lvl 20. This kinda peeved me though… it seems new players wont be able to join a guild and benefit from the experience of other more experienced players until they are level 16.

This is bad for multiple reasons if I’m reading it right. If you are already part of a guild, you can’t talk to your friends while leveling an alt. If you are in a 100% rep. guild, this could cause a lot of confusion since you can’t represent them. And if you are part of a guild with buffs, you won’t get the experience buffs with them.

No, I’m sorry… I try to follow you but I can’t. I disagree on every line of thought. This won’t make the game easier for new players. Explaining what and how to get in WvW is helping new players. Removing their skills is not. Anyone who played a computer game in the last 10 years knows how to press 1 to 10.

Clicking some pastures and feeding a cow is intuitive. Clicking a cow and feed it with your thoughts its not. A game is a game while there is something to work out and resolve. This stops being a game and it is now a simple task to be done. Its not fun.

don’t expect much changes to be updated for it.

Would love to see a living story take us underwater. I fear it won’t happen though because they don’t even acknowledge underwater anymore. Pre-Launch though, they were all about advertising it and showing off how great it would be, then it wasn’t received as well as they would have liked so they just decided to stop trying it seems.

From my past I can see myself with a “companion” for 99% of the encounters. Like I said earlier, it’s a matter of experience and if you can’t always have an illusion out then you need to adjust your playstyle. Of course there are individual cases where it’s not practical but those very few. Basically, it’s much easier to have at least one clone/phantasm out than keeping yourself at 90%+ hp.

On general point of view this issue isnt relating at all on “adjust your playstyle to have 1 illusion out” (cause having 1 illusion out doenst require any effort), its related to high dmg party where stuff insta die or nearly there.

I agree with you that on long fights having an illusion out its easyer than standing above 90% hp but how many long fights (outside some higher fotm) do you have in this game with good party? xD

Atm i have 2 set with 1 scholar and 1 with ranger and use ranger one to catch precision rather than power, and i’m happy, but just cause they work with mini pet.

The day they gonna fix it im gonna stick back to scholar like i played for thousands hours, i found them more versatile (with no mini pet on rangers ones ofc)

In all honesty though, in short fights where things “insta-die” why does it matter if your damage output is slightly lower? In those fights, any damage is sufficient if enemies are dead in a few seconds anyway. It is the fights that are longer where the increase in damage output really matters.

Please stop using that argument.

you missed the point entirely. I was just pointing out they are only layering a system over an already existing one. IE wardrobe “collections” and such. How hard is it to layer hard mode or vanquising into the maps to give some incentive to kill everything you see for a “goal” instead of just stacking in a corner and mashing 1?

Well, in part, GW1 used instanced maps. Meaning once you killed something it stayed dead (did not respawn). In GW2 we are in open maps where things respawn. This makes a world of difference from a programing experience.

Now HM in dungeons should be possible though.

Wardrobe and Minis

Invictus.1503

The only way it takes up bank space is if you want to both use the minis AND sell them later. And the only way it takes up significant space is if you want to do this with a lot of different minis at once. Because if you just want to use the mini, they don’t take up ANY inventory space or bank space, they go into the GUI. On the other hand, if you want to sell them, they also don’t take up space because they are in the Trading Post.

So, if I’m getting your frustration correctly, you will be inconvenienced because you have to choose whether or not to use the mini yourself or sell it as you can no longer do both, is that right? If so, keep in mind this is exactly how armor and weapons work in the game once you hit green quality or better (except the mini doesn’t take up any inventory space when you decide to bind it to your account and they remain account rather than soul bound).

^ This is essentially a rewording of what I said previously. The new system removes utility that existed previously and infringes upon my bank storage while providing me with zero benefit to offset the loss.

Again, I am glad for those who will see a net improvement. I just think that it is unfortunate that Anet could not provide a game improvement to some without taking something away from others.

Got it, so you want to stockpile them and use them all, but sell them when you are tired of them. I understand, frankly I’d like to be able to resell my exotic gear after using it, but changing to another build so no longer needing it.

While I am glad that others will benefit from the minipet changes they are a negative for me. Pretty significantly so actually. It really is too bad that Anet cannot add something for those who wish it without destroying something that others prefer.

Please help me understand, what negative impact does it have?
1) If you have the mini, then you still have it (and in fact can choose to keep it out at all times, or leave it alone).
2) It removes the need to take up inventory space and click on it each map.
3) The pets can be used on multiple toons
4) If you already have an achievement for them, it isn’t like you are losing the achievement so no loss there
5) If you get a new mini, and only want to use it for a short time, then sell it then you can. You just keep it as an item in your inventory (like now) and don’t unlock it. Then when you get tired of it, you sell it.

So, please explain what I’m missing. We both read the same article (I’m assuming you read it of course). How does this have any negative impact?

This system takes away bank space for minipets. I gain no benefit from any of the of elements mentioned.

1) correct.
2) irrelevant (to me) again I am glad that others will benefit.
3) see #2
4) see #2
5) having to decide between taking up inventory space and general bank space is a negative compared to now (for me).

The only way it takes up bank space is if you want to both use the minis AND sell them later. That’s what I loved about it. It made the zerg separate in a natural way, but kept some for those who like it. It then caused you to work in small teams as well. -Axe remains questionable
-Dagger gets slight cleave (ok, but still no real cleave weapon)
-Siphons get jack
-SoV gets an additional second which is supposed to be our boost to sustain…really?
-Unholy Sanctuary gets an additional effect similar to beta DS where it just automatically goes into DS if you take lethal damage. May sound ok, but not sure in practice (unless it negates any excess damage rather than absorbs into your DS pool which I doubt will happen). They could have made it allow healing in DS to help with its real functionality, but nah!
-Nerf to Lich, but really that was expected and not unwarranted
-No help in stability (we are still ping pong balls)
-Spectral Armor…ummm yeah, that is really going to help
-DS can interact now. Nice, but is really just a bug fix (and not a huge deal since we could already stomp via exploit). Only potentially good if you can pop it in the middle of a rez without it ending your rez action.

Over all, was very disappointed and will likely have to shelf my necro.

Anyway, sorry I got off topic. They definitely need to buff up our siphons a good bit because life siphon traits are useless unless running minionmancer or running wells for a zerg, or if there are a bunch of mobs close together. They could just make it so that it siphons life from one enemy hit for a flat rate of say…200-300. It would need an ICD of 1-2 seconds of course. The Vampire signet really needs some work. I am very interested though it what they are going to do with the upcoming patch. Should be interesting at the very least.

Unfortunately not. Check out the notes from the ready up session. They gave SoV an extra 1 second…that’s it. No other buffs/changes to it. They also didn’t touch any other life siphon. Extremely disappointing!

Frankly I’d love to see a world boss like this added in to the rotation. I’d also love the actual marionette to come back as a Fractal, but that would take some major reworks to function as a 5 man team (but would be a great addition I think).

Birthday Blaster Nerf

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Invictus.1503

Invictus.1503

I wouldn’t say that’s a ‘nerf’, that’s a fix. Because it was clearly broken.

I agree it was broken, but the fix not only fixed it, it nerfed it. Let me put it another way. I can eat a Peach Tart (lvl 70 food) even while I’m down leveled to 42, and still get the +60 power. As it stands now, I can get a cake in a lvl 80 zone and get +40 attributes, but if I eat it in a lvl 42 zone I only get +24. If we carry this logic out, then why doesn’t the Peach Tart give less attribute points in lower level zones?

This is why I say it is more than just a fix. A fix would have been to scale the bonus by the REAL level of the person getting the buff, not the adjusted level. My guess is that the buff was being granted before the upleveling in WvW and that is why it was so insane. If they simply could apply the buff as a static increase after the adjustment it would fix this and all would be well. If I had to guess again, they couldn’t figure out how to do that and so just implemented what we have now.

Are you saying that low level players in WvW SHOULD have all their stats set to 3000 and be able to kill an entire lvl 80 zerg?

Just to be clear it wasn’t 3000, it was 2500 and if one upleveled player even with those stats can wipe an entire zerg then that zerg is doing it wrong. Having said this, yeah it was a needed fix, but please let’s try to avoid the hype train.

That isn’t what I’m saying at all. The point is that it should adjust based on the toon’s REAL level, not ADJUSTED level. So my level 80 should always get the +40 the same as if he used equivelent lvl 80 food. If a toon is upleveled (such as in WvW) they should only get the stat boosts appropriate to their REAL level (for example, lvl 42 toon’s upleveled should still only get the +24 to stats).

Didn’t take them long to nerf it did they. Not saying it shouldn’t have happened, but just that it seems they realized after a few threads on the matter it wasn’t such a good idea. Just hope this isn’t a trend to nerf it out of existence.

That said, I have two issues.
1) it nerfs based on the ADJUSTED level, not your actual level. This makes it different than any other food and frankly makes it worst than most food. Hopefully this is unintended, but even if so I’m not sure they’ll fix it.
2) it doesn’t say how much it adjusts. For example, my level 80 who went to Blazeridge and was down leveled to 42 had his stats increased by only 24. The only way I knew this though was to look at my stats, then get the boost and look again.

I’m sorry, are you complaining about 5 Pristine relics? 5 miserable, stinkin’ relics?

No. I’m complaining about ArenaNet giving a useful item as a bonus for completing the back piece. That’s something they’ve never done before. It’s not a vanity item, like the Balthazar back piece, it’s something useful. That’s not fair.

Put aside all the stuff about the Mist Stone. It’s not about fractals or dungeons or WvW. It’s about giving people who finish this back piece a practical means of getting rid of their Bloodstone dust. Those who don’t choose to finish this back piece – and given how involved the process is, there are probably going to be lots of them – will still not have a useful means of getting rid of their dust.

And if they want the reward, they can put in the effort. Overall cost analysis of what you gain vs. what you put into the acquisition.

For example, I want an Olympic gold medal, however to get one I would need to devote my life to its acquisition. The prize, in this case, is not worth the cost so I choose not to do it. On the other hand, I want a cheeseburger and the price of gas for my car and $2 is worth it to me and therefore I put forth the effort to pay the required price.

Simply put, is the usefulness of the item worth the acquisition cost of gathering the mats/gold? If the answer is yes, then put in a little effort and acquire it. If the answer is no, stop complaining because it obviously isn’t that important to you.

Hmm, now I want a cheeseburger…brb!

Have to agree, this is a great present and FAR outshines last year. This is the type of present I would expect from guildwars and you’ve renewed a portion of my faith that had been lost.
