Should have everything you need.
Hmm, that’s odd. Mine worked a week or so ago. I did find it didn’t happen right away, I had to run across the entire lava pool to get it. I think it is set to trigger right around the middle of the big lava pool (where boss even happens). Also, ensure you have the egg in your inventory when you run into the lava.
I like that it is dyable, but that is about it. The stiff tail is real off putting to me. Given the plethora of gliders available, this is an easy pass.
Welcome back to the game. Seems you are a returning player from quite some time ago considering the wardrobe system has been around since mid 2014.
I agree, I just wish the events I need to do have a trigger. Standing around an area waiting for the event to start is rather annoying. Beyond that though I have to say well done
So for those of you who don’t know, two skills in the latest patch received a first ever seen patch note.
-Enemies are now able to be struck by this skill only once every 0.5 seconds.
The two skills were Revenant Coalescence of Ruin and Warrior Scorched Earth. Now the change isn’t in itself unwelcome as it is reasonable since these skills were hitting some targets multiple times in a single use (which is apparently something people don’t want).
Now, I’m fine with this up to this point, however through testing it has come to light that it extends beyond just the caster himself. If two or more Revenants, for example, cast CoR at roughly the same time at the same target, one of them will hit with the attack, however all the rest that hit within 0.5 seconds are negated and don’t touch the target at all. If you want to see this then you can check out this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMNo6pl0-3Q
So, the debate going on right now in the profession forums is whether or not this is a bug. I can’t help but think it is a bug as it goes against everything Anet has always said about their game…namely that you should always be happy to see another player come to help. As things are now, I’m not happy to see another hammer wielding Revenant or a Longbow wielding Warrior because that means that one of my skills may be negated, not by an enemy skill, but by an ally’s. This is especially noticeable in zerg type content where it is very likely to happen.
So, the question is, is this a trend of a dangerous new design that changes the dynamics of the game entirely, or a bug that will hopefully be addressed. If you don’t play Revenant or Warrior then try to think of it this way. What is your favorite skill? Then, how would you feel if you used your favorite skill and saw that it did not hit because an “ally” used the exact same skill as you a fraction of a second earlier?
(edited by Invictus.1503)
I was wondering about why they nerfed the damage on this skill so hard?
Having the attacks reduced from 7 to 5 comes to about a 28.6% reduction. Each hit was given a plus 10% damage but that just means the overall reduction is 21.4%.
Was this skill really so detrimental before that it needed its damage adjusted so heavily? I feel a 10% nerf to its damage would have been adequate. Although I rarely use it in pve. Was this reduction because of pvp?
You’re referring to the Sword 3 nerf. This thread is about Hammer 2 and it is more than just the nerf, but the (hopefully) bug that now means that one Rev. using his skill can completely negate another Rev’s use of the same skill. Completely insane and if this isn’t a bug causes real concerns in the future of this company as it begins a majorly negative and dangerous trend.
Massively Multiplayer Online means that alot of people get into a game to play it, not that you are obligated to play with groups of people. We should have the choice to play solo or with groups of people.
Show me the gun to your head that’s obligating you play with others ?
Cause lets all be real here….you can do pretty much everything (sans boss killing/100% meta progression) solo in HoT.
Put yourself in a solo persons mindset for 2 minutes. You go through HoT trying to get map completion and complete about 90% of it purely solo. Another 5% may be possible with alot of effort (which is fine). Then there is 5% that is utterly unsoloable (eg. a few champ HPs).
So you find folks to help with those. Great, you have all the maps completed. Now what? Everything at that point on requires a group to advance anything. You want to work towards a legendary? Great! But they soul bound enough components and place these behind group content. Okay, maybe you can work towards a private guild hall? Nope, they took that away to, large guilds only. So what does a solo person have to work towards after map completion? Anything they do from that point on does not contribute to anything, unless they group up. Even skins dont drop from mobs unless your in a group instance.
I’m not saying they need more solo content. They just need to work in an angle so solo folks can attain the same goals as group oriented folks. But gold farmers pretty much destroyed this, as well as the cry babies that kitten and complain that someone got the same shiny as them and diminished the value of their item, at least in their eyes.
I don’t know, I think they’ve been pretty straight forward in the lead-up to HoT. They always claimed that Guild Halls for example would be group content. They said it would be accessible to small guilds, but never said that about personal guilds (in fact they even said that in multiple interviews). They always said Raids would be group content.
I am largely a solo player mostly because I often am multitasking as a father and a gamer so rarely group up in anything other than a random PUG for a fractal or two. I completed the story completely solo just fine. I did 100% map completion fine on my own (though as you mention it was tough at parts and I had to ask for help in map chat for some HPs). I have completed 1 legend (The Juggernaught) completely through crafting and did it solo with the exception of a few low level Fractals which I did with a PUG from LFG and never even had to talk to them. I am almost done with my second legendary (Nevermore) just need to finish a few mastery lines for the gift.
In the end, I don’t see how HoT isn’t soloable for any content they didn’t explicitly say wasn’t supposed to be. Is it more challenging? Absolutely. Does it require adaptation over what was done in core? Almost certainly. Is it nonsoloable or even misleading? Simply no!
i tink he was prob refer to the baseline piercing effect
This is it exactly. I think the OP expected some huge change, when really there isn’t much wrong with the baseline Shroud. I rather like the skills and sometimes miss them when using Reaper. Bottom line, this one change does help it quite a bit because it was always annoying you had to take a trait just to make it pierce, now you don’t. This became even more annoying when Reaper Shroud automatically cleaves.
So, it was an obvious change, but a good one nonetheless and as such has fulfilled their statement. No misleading involved at all.
Also, shouldn’t this be in the Necro forum?
They did mention on one of the live streams that they are working on a “blank” legend that could then be turned into one of the other legends that you have already created. That seemed to be their solution to the question of whether somebody could make two of one of the new legends (for example having two Nevermore staves).
To my knowledge though, they haven’t said anymore more about it and that was back around HoT launch.
Yes, I found this odd as well. I suspected this is what was happening in a boss fight when my skill wasn’t hitting at all, but my others were just fine. Then another Rev. happen to stand next to me and do his CoR at about the same time and mine didn’t hit. I reread the patch notes and thought that couldn’t be it, but now I’m not so sure.
I do not believe this is intended, but if it is then that is a HORRIBLE move as that goes against their mantra of always welcoming help (as I will hate to see other Revenants from now on since they can negate one of my skills).
If this is, as I suspect, a bug then it needs to be fixed ASAP! It makes Hammer 2, unreliable at best, useless at worst, in any kind of zerg event in WvW or PvE.
(edited by Invictus.1503)
Shouldn’t this be in the Elementalist sub-forum?
Ok, so I’m having trouble with my last raven. It is the Ascalon Settlement one in the cemetary. I go there while the map is in the night time cycle, but it doesn’t spawn. Is this bugged, or is there something needed to be down to spawn it?
Wow, this is insane. Do they see too many people having fun with Revenants and think to themselves “hmm, how do we get people to stop playing this class?”
No Jalis improvements
No Ventari improvements
No Mallyx improvements – I was hoping they would reconsider bringing him back to his BWE2 glory or to at least change the leftover traits that no longer work well when they destroyed his theme
A crap ton of nerfs that reduced both damage and surviveability.
Shield 5 was hit HARD (didn’t see that big a hit coming)
Another Facet of light nerf (though I’ll have to test to see how bad)
Sword 3 reduces surviveability because it lasts less time (thus less evade) and also in keeping up with enemies
Damage was just hit hard in general
No staff improvements to make up for all the sword nerfs either, would have been nice for some love of some sort.

On the latest stream, they showed how the No Fly Zones work. They don’t go all the way down. They seem t give you ample warning, then drop you. Once you get to a certain height (presumably low enough that your gliding will no longer be problematic) you can redeploy to avoid falling to your death.
Personally, after seeing it last Friday it looks well done.
Closes that we would get is a Rev. specialization that used “turrets” in the form of spirit binding. Don’t know if they really want to go that rout or not, but could be interesting if they did go that way.
I asked this when gliders first appeared. I’d like this and the two holographic wing sets to be able to be used.
The same weapon I’ve been wanting for a long time (actually wanted it on Necro originally)…GREAT AXE!
Please add this weapon. We have it as a toy (executioner’s axe) and there are some enemies that use it as well. Please let me use it on my Rev. (and necro).
You can change stats on Asc weapon too with some things that cost like 10g top in Mystic Forge. On top of that you will use 90% of the time your primary stats.
Changing stats was a new thing added. Refer to the other thing that I mentioned which is skins.
3000g for skin is pretty expensive O.o
Then the answer is simple, don’t go for a Legendary. The fact of the matter they have always been forthcoming and transparent that this game is not about stats. The average player should be able to max their stats pretty easily. If you want the cosmetics of a legendary item then you go for it. If you don’t think the cost is worth it or don’t have time/money to invest then you can still play at the same level as anybody else with limited investment.
The only mistake I think they made on this is making the legendary weapons and the precursers to make them tradeable. This, however is a mistake they recognize and have rectified for the new generation of legendaries.
I completely disagree with OP. Legendary is for the skin and the ability to swap stats at will. Money shouldn’t buy you better stats, but simply convenience. I have a legendary myself and am very happy with the skin, footfall, and ability to change the stats whenever I want to so the cost is worth it to me.
The fact that so many of these topics have popped up since HoT launched baffles me to no end. Experience has been “wasted” at level 80 long before HoT launched, ever since the major patch that split Skill Points into Spirit Shards / Hero Points. And yet I don’t remember nearly as many complaints about “wasting” experience then as there are now.
Did people just not realize it was getting wasted? I guess that’s certainly possible since every time one of these topics comes up there are a handful of people complaining about the fact that overlevelling used to give spirit shards, which it never did. Or is there some kind of psychological effect where people just overlooked it before, but because masteries have suddenly drawn attention to leveling after 80 everyone just now realizes it doesn’t do anything once you max?
Personally, I really don’t see a problem with it doing nothing once you max masteries. Maybe its just because I play a lot of other games outside of GW2, but I certainly don’t ever expect to get free stuff after I “max out”. And if you’re really playing the game just for experience points and not the actual gameplay and thus not getting anything for your extra points ruins it for you, then… I dunno. That’s kind of odd to me.
I wouldn’t be OPPOSED to some sort of reward for extra experience, but it just doesn’t seem like a major issue to me, and it probably affects a rather tiny portion of the population as I imagine most players probably aren’t anywhere near maxing their masteries anyway.
I think the reason was that prior to that big patch you got Hero Points, which was decent (though I had litterally hundreds I didn’t use). Then after the patch it was said to be temporary until HoT came with its masteries. Temporary I can deal with. Then after HoT the masteries ended up being much less than expected (meaning I filled all of Old Tyria within days) and now we are left with no gaining of experience and the mocking yellow numbers have finally gotten to many of us.
Frankly, the way they talked about masteries, I expected it would take a very long time before maxing them out, then suppose I hoped there would be some minor reward after finishing them. The no movement XP bar I had hoped was simply a place holder until the larger system was in place.
Some people do DS for the fun of the event – not just for farming.
Why can’t you do both? I think the OPs comments are perfectly reasonable and I agree. I do DS because I think it is fun, but also like to get the appropriate loot as well. I’m not complaining here as for the most part I’ve been happy with the balance, but didn’t notice the OPs issue. I think it is valid to look at those drop rates.
I wasn’t saying that his idea was bad. I was just pointing out that people are not only in there to farm.
Everyone in Dragon’s Stand is there to farm, whether it’s loot or exp or collection items. That’s all the zone actually has to offer.
Please do not speak for everybody. I for one like the mechanics of a number of fights. I enjoy the zone for the zone’s sake.
Yes, I’ve brought this up on a few other threads. Drives me nuts to see all that experience flashing, but it not doing anything for me at all. A small reward is all I’d want. A random loot bag, the current map reward (like that idea), spirit shard (even though I have tons), 1 gold (heck even 30 silver), etc..
I just get annoyed emmensly by seeing the experience flash and not get any progress feeling.
You know there is a whole sub-forum devoted to Mesmer specific discussions…
Yeah, this has bothered me for a long time. It is something small, but frankly makes the whole organization look a little less intelligent when they can’t get a simple word right that is a major part of their game.
According to Wiki when looking up Maguuma Wastes:
Locations – Dry Top & Silverwastes
Each of those has a link:
Drytop link: Under “Getting there” it says “Use the portal in the southwest corner of the map in Brisban Wildlands. The portal will be located southeast of the Tangle Root Outpost point of interest.”
Silverwastes link: Under “Getting there” it says “Go northwest from the Fort Vandal POI in the Vandal’s Claim area of Brisban Wildlands. Use the portal in the northern part of the fort.”
Each one of the areas it references also has a link. So, that is how to get there as per wiki. Good luck.

When released I had a similar complaint. I bought the expansion to play as a new specialization, however found that I had to almost complete the expansion in order to get enough hero points to get my specialization complete. By that time I had little left to do of interest. Was very disappointed with this style of implementation.
What they didn’t finish for the dlc :
- raids wings
- revisit maps for gliding
- www changes
- new fractals
- set of legendaries
- balance
- new region consisted of real maps and no mini-maps
- a long story
All that miss, in an overpriced dlc + the shift to a f2p model mobile like.
You realize this is a thread about gliding in Central Tyria right? This isn’t one of the many complaint threads about the xpac in general. I suggest you contribute in one of the threads about how HoT is terrible, or create your own (though there are plenty).
On topic – for those worried about Jumping Puzzles, the latest blog did explicitely state there were going to be “no fly” zones. I suspect these zones are almost exclusively created to keep those JPs in tact and with their integrity intact.
Missing the ears. But hey, thanks for sharing.
Umm, ok. Thanks for sharing?
P.S. She doesn’t have the ears.
Windows 10, 32 Bit, just happened to me
So this is a rather simple request with a more complex solution. Give me something else to do with experience please. After you complete your masteries, experience means nothing at all. The Tyria masteries are especially easy to level (even without the CoF farm) and once maxed…then what.
One of the things they just did with Fractals was give better experience. That’s all well and good, but since my Tyria masteries are done, and it doesn’t help with HoT masteries (which are almost done really) that update means little. I’m sure I’m not the only one either.
Please, just give me something to do with experience, those yellow numbers that fly up when I kill something have gotten to the point where they seem to just mock me now.
That might be useful if they ever add more mastery lines.
This exactly. Even without the CoF farm it is very easy to max out the Tyria masteries. I’ve already got them maxed out and experience does NOTHING once that happens so nothing here.
They need to either add new masteries, or make excess experience worth something.
I got 1 Golden Fractal Greatsword and 1 normal Fractal Axe after opening 23 champion chests. RNG results may vary.
The problem with CoR was it was hitting more than 5 enemies? THAT was the problem? I guess I was too busy killing 2-3 backliners with 18K crits every 2 seconds to realize I hit more than 5 players occasionally.
This is actually a fix for that. After you hit 5 people, it stops. So, now it won’t ever reach those backliners in a zerg or even semi-large fight. I can see this change in WvW being rather big. Unfortunately it also makes the skill much less useful in PvE while it is at it.
3) if you want a special skin you should expect that it has special requirements that are reasonable. There is nothing unreasonable about expecting you to complete certain content provided (such as adventures)
Oh, of course but I wonder how a professional football team would react when they’re 12:0 ahead but would lose because the referee would have a chess tournament after the football part was over and declare the other team winner because they won the chess tournament hands down.
So it is reasonable in an MMO to do MMO things for MMO content. It is not reasonable to do platform style jump and run games in an MMO to get MMO content. Before HoT appeared, JPs gave you just the chest (they could just as well have added a title) and that was it. With HoT, though, they made things mandatory that have no place in an MMO apart from a little respite for those people who like such content.
What? How does football and chess have anything to do with one another? Moreover, why would the refs…wow nevermind the logic here is just too far out there.
As to your second paragraph, yes I do consider it reasonable. Much of the game’s content prepares you for the adventures. Jumping puzzles, story instances (remember the one where you are running from Foalin?), HP challenges, etc.. So the content isn’t really all that much different. You are also not competing with other people, so your own achievement is purely based on your own ability. Finally, you see to be equating it to a win/lose situation, it isn’t. It is a completely optional quest you go on to get a purely cosmetic item that has no baring on the rest of the game. There is nothing mandatory about it. It is something optional you are choosing to do that is related to optional content.
If you had to complete adventures in order to progress the story, or to complete a mandatory dungeon, or if you needed the skin to progress your character then I MIGHT put stock in the argument. However none of that is the case.
Eh, another one of these posts. You aren’t forced to do anything.
1) it is a game, you don’t like it you aren’t forced to play
2) a weapon skin is not required for any portion of the game, it is completely optional
3) if you want a special skin you should expect that it has special requirements that are reasonable. There is nothing unreasonable about expecting you to complete certain content provided (such as adventures)
Also, the adventures are not, in my opinion, “terrible.” You may not like them, but that doesn’t mean you have to be 5 to enjoy them as you put it.
Someone said they wanted new fractal maps, i just wanted to chime in to say that i don’t think they can really add new fractal maps anymore because of the static schedule. One of the things they talked about with that schedule is how helpful it would be for speedrunners and record keeping but adding any new maps would completely disrupt that entire system. And i honestly think they did that on purpose as an excuse to not have to make any new fractal maps.
It is a matter of redoing the schedule is about all. I don’t see why they couldn’t fit another 1-2 fractals in the rotation. If this is a reason given for not adding fractals then it is an excuse plan and simple. However I’m not convinced they won’t add some. They have said in interviews they would like to add more, especially some former events like Marrionet if they could figure out how to scale it for a group of 5 (that was my all time favorite GW2 event btw).
I thought I’d put this here for people to see in case you don’t frequent reddit.

Post from that link:
Hello all!
My name is Matt Pennebaker, and I wanted to reach out and say “hi.” As many of you know u/LinseyMurdock is rolling off of working on legendary collections as she is needed elsewhere. I will be stepping in and attempting to fill her metaphorical shoes (my literal feet are like twice as big as hers).
I have worked directly with Linsey for a couple of years on rewards, but I want to note that while I helped with early design of the legendary journeys, I was not involved in their detailed designs or implementations. This is important to get out there because it means that I am still familiarizing myself with everything that’s been done, and where things are hooked in to the game. So please, bear with me.
Now that you are bored with who I am, you may be asking, “why is this guy still talking?” First off, rude, second, to get some details about my plans.
I have a small team working with me, but we are working on a few different things. Specifically: issues with current legendary weapons, new legendary weapons, and festivals (that’s a topic for another day)
The priority for current legendary crafting bugs is as follows:
Fix blockers as soon as I’m made aware of them. Anything that halts your progress is unacceptable and I’ll do everything I can to get it fixed ASAP.
Fix issues that encourage toxic play or interactions. No collectible should be gated behind failed events, or mechanics that make you upset that another player is playing a specific way. Unfortunately these things take longer to fix and test around the fixes (don’t want to break something else on accident), so the turn around will be slower
Fix the smaller things. Things like icons, text (unless it is very misleading, then it gets addressed sooner), and minor inconsistencies. We will get to things when possible, it may just take a while. Something to remember, every minute spent on one bug is a minute not spent somewhere else.
If you see something, say something. We actively read reddit posts and the forums. My QA partner (edit: found his reddit handle: u/ANET_Blonk) is all over things here. We want to know what’s wrong with our content, so please let us know.
New legendary weapons! The good news: yes, we are working on them. The bad news: no, I cannot tell you any more about them. Sorry, some things just need to be a secret.
Communication: I’m not a very social-media-focused person, and to be honest, have a lot of stuff to do, but I’m going to try my best to be communicative and up-front with you all. There are things I won’t be able to talk about, and things I won’t have the knowledge or authority to talk about, but I will do my best to not hide things from you.
Alright, I think that’s about everything I wanted to cover. I’ll be popping in and out of here the rest of the day so I can try to answer questions you might have.

The plethora and popularity of wings recently makes sense. They like to make them into gliders. My favorite backpiece is still Mad King’s Memoires. Unfortunately not easy to make a glider out of that.
It’s all about the gliders right now!
But I don’t think that the villain needs to be relatable to be good. I mean, can you relate to Darth Vadar or Emperor Palpatine? I can’t relate to “rule the galaxy” or the like. But I and many others still find them good villains.
I don’t want to derail the conversation, but just had to respond. Yes, I can certainly relate to Vader and Palpatine. Although tactics are different by a long shot, their goal is similar to the Jedi and the ideas of many many people. They want order, stability, and peace. They just go about it their own unique way.
As to the topic itself, I don’t know if Jormag himself is interested in gold, but his organization has to be. As mentioned, he has set himself up as a religious figure and his followers are tempted by promises of power. As such, he has to have a steady income of gold in order to fund the people he converts (living expenses, weapons, fortresses, etc.).
Why do those little buggers kill me in 5-7 hits? It’s literally impossible to walk from point a to point b without being gang-racked by the little kittens and brought into downed state.
I don’t think that word means what you think it means. I do just that quite often without being “brought into a downed state”
This has been a hot topic in the Lore forums for quite some time. Most expected it to be a plotline in HoT and have been disappointed to find that it wasn’t. Here is a recent thread on the topic you mind find interesting.

Agreed, I don’t know why everybody seems to want to make a new thread on this. There are multiple and at the time of this posting was even another ON THE FIRST PAGE.
All of that sounds nice and OP if said that way, but in reality the condi pressure from Revenant is minimal. The 3s cooldown burn you mention takes energy (not to mention you have to stand in the pulsing), so if you used it on cooldown then you couldn’t do the other things you mentioned all that much. As to all the torment, that’s well and good, but the stack can be cleansed very easily since Mallyx is pretty much a one trick pony.
Condi Engi, Elementalist, Mesmer, and even Necro all out perform the condition specced Revenant.
Power is in a decent place and support is darn close to a good place. However condi certainly isn’t since the last minute gutting of Mallyx elite in BWE3.
In the end the thought process seems obvious to me. The reason for the expense is less about current trends on TP, but more about the future of Legendaries. They want future legendary weapons to have both time investment and gold cost. Those future ones (like Nevermore) cannot be traded and don’t drop from anything so the cost is something baked into the collection. In the end, they wanted/needed the old legendary collections to use the same formula as the new ones so it made sense.
I’m sure you’ve realized that all the collections follow the same basic roadmap. This roadmap needed to be consistent between old and new legendaries, so what we got makes perfect sense. They did an ok job matching the price fairly well with the TP, but honestly I think that was purely a secondary concern.
What is the point of making the new PRECURSOR collections cost THOUSANDS of gold to craft when they aren’t tradeable and are EXOTICS!?
I can give multiple reasons:
1) It takes money out of the economy for a luxary item.
2) It makes the item more exclusive and thus more desirable by much of the player base.
3) It prevents the item from being “devalued” by simply being a item made so that it can be sold and made money on (which is something the community has begged for over the last 3 years).
4) In the end it is the Legendary that is being sought after, the “exotic” level means very little at that point because almost nobody would make it and then stop without making the legendary since you can’t sell the precursor.
5) Even if somebody didn’t go all the way to Legendary at that point, it is still just about the skin, not stats since that person would easily have enough money to have aquired at least Ascended weapons by then.
In the end, it is either worth it to you or not in order to get the rare Legendary skin. If you only care about trading it then it isn’t worth it, or if you are only interested in the stats, it isn’t worth it either. This is all talking about the reasons for the new system for new Legendaries of course. The reason why the old ones are like that I’ve already answered in my previous post. Simply put, the old ones had to follow the same format, the only difference is that you can sometimes go the cheaper route by buying them from the TP (however that may change as the market changes slowly to adapt to new collection system).
