I take no one knows then. I would like an answer Anet, please.

Be patient. Everybody would like an answer from Anet for their questions, however they can’t be expected to answer all of them (otherwise the forums would be a full time job for them).

If I were to guess, the devs aren’t sure which direction they want to go. However, I’d bet that it will end up only procing on weapon swap and no longer proc on legend swap. The only way I see it not being this way is if there is some sort of technical difficulty since they’ve already built them to proc on legend swap.

Sword #3 really should have an evade aspect.

Doesn’t it have an evade aspect to it though, just that it is not a guaranteed evade (ie. no evade frames) but you are still a moving target during that skill (unless your hitbox remains stationary while it is being cast, specifics please?).

If it works how I think it does, it can still be used to evade an attack (if you bounce to a second target), however, you can’t simply press it and become invulnerable during your burst on a single isolated target. Seems balanced to me, while evade frames would likely make it a bit too strong… just don’t fire this skill of inside a ring of fire, because you’ll hurt yourself.

Looks like it does, but mechanically I seriously doubt it. with auto-target and his jumping being so fast and revolving around a target it won’t be hard to hit him. And anybody with an interrupt will kill it in less than a second.

Sword #3 really should have an evade aspect. Fits both mechanically and thematically. Assassin being rather quick and hard to catch (evade fits that) and the skill is a long execute that moves randomly so it is bound to get interrupted without fail so the evade would give the skill a chance to work. Finally, we are talking that everything about this set and legend is offensively defense. So, an active defense such as evade on this skill only makes sense there too.

Roy, please help us out with this one

We don’t know for sure. 4 core (Mallyx, Jalis, Ventari and Shiro) and 1 elite (Glint) is what seems to be the case, however that is speculation.

Thank you. I find it very annoying when people state speculation (even strongly supported speculation) as fact. I appreciate you pointing out that the 4 core 1 elite is speculation (though personally I believe this will be the case).

Rev Weapon swap?

I thought this even after the first stress test. The weapons seem so specialized on this class that not being able to swap is a major hindrance. If the weapons were either less specialized, or allowed to be swapped this would be great. I can see running staff, but not as my only weapons for example.

Eh, it was always a huge letdown to a decent story. I did it within the first month of release and was bored with it. Then as recently as 4 months ago, still bored with it, but it seemed easy (just loooooong). Haven’t tried it solo yet, but don’t expect it to be much different.

It is a shame really. Huge buildup, then go toe-to-toe with the biggest threat Tyria has ever see, and the result is press 2, press 2, press 2, press 2, press 2, press 2…(though I heard now they updated the cannon skill to press 1)

You dont need a group for any achievement I soloed all of them within 24hrs after release. And the only truly hard achievement is the one where you sneak into the asura facility without ever getting caught delivering the last hit on the boss.

I had no trouble with that one, the only one I really did have trouble with and needed to group up with some friends for was “Wicked Rodeo”. I almost got it solo a number of times, but that boss fight is crazy in the last 30% of his health.

I’d say the answer is a “no” given the jumping puzzle. Jumping off the lighthouse would probably give you the height to get to some of the harder parts of that JP with little effort. It is this reason only I don’t think it will happen (since the map was just designed, it could have otherwise been designed with gliding in mind).

I absolutely love the new LA looks and much of the features (extra applause for being able to jump in the Mystic Forge). My only issue is that there is no regular merchant (for buying salvage kits) close to the bank and forge. There is also no convenient repair anvil.

I would also have liked a guild bank merchant near the bank as well, but frankly understand and can forgive not having one there as there is a brand new guild facility where they are currently.

Mini pets and Polymock

The arena is there because originally they planned to have Polymock as a mini-game similar to the keg brawl. They also planned and advertised an archery mini-game and a bar room fight mini-game. Many of these weren’t ready by release and they scrapped them.

Really hoping to see Polymock come back eventually though. I did love it in GW1. As for using mini-pets, although I’d LOVE it, I think that is a bit too ambitious as there are hundreds of mini-pets out there (would be currious on exact count) and making skills for each would be a major undertaking and hard to balance.

Karka Scavenger Hunt

Invictus.1503

I have to say that I absolutely loved how this was done. Kudos to the team that worked on this part especially as I feel they hit the nail on the head!

-The presentation was great. It was foreshadowed with hidden Karka in the pre-rebuilt LA and then some of the added ambient dialog referencing them was perfect. Subtle, but not too much so.

-Achievement tab is very well done. The hints and general location made it so that after my initial run through the city blindly looking didn’t have to be repeated. After my initial run (found 26) was done I pinpointed the ones I couldn’t find at first, but did after the hint and location (got me up to 44 of them). After that, I admittedly used Dulfy guide to get the last 6, but even that was easier because of the achievement tab showing me which I hadn’t found.

-No ctrl viewing is something at first I didn’t like, but soon warmed up to as it made me really look at my surroundings. Holding down the ctrl button and seeing in bright letters the Karka would have cheapened the find quite a bit and would have made those pesky ones behind things too easy to see. Love it!

-Sound indicating when you are close seems small, but I thought was genius. It really helped with the emersion factor and I actually got excited when I heard the scurrying.

-The reward of a dragonite ore eater was just right. It is something that we can live without, but having it is a great value too. It is also a long term and unique reward and as such added value and will serve as a reminder to how much fun it was to get it for a long time to come.

End result, an emphatic A+ from me and a thank you for some of the most fun I’ve had in PvE for a long time. Hope to see similar things in the future.

Ok, i have eight toons and there is NO WAY i am going to do 65 challenges eight times!!!!!!! Arenanet you are seriously wanting me to leave this game.

Then don’t. With 400 Hero Points you can unlock most things. That means you can unlock the build you like to use on those alts. You can probably completely unlock 2 builds which, if you are like most, is all you really need for an alt. Main tends to use a plethora of builds, alts tend to stick to 1 or 2. Especially when considering that to effectively use different builds you probably need different armor sets. Thus a main with multiple armor sets and builds is one thing, but 8 alts probably not.

Seriously, not as bad as most make this out to be.

Full support weapon is fine in PvE, heck I use Guardian staff. However, without weapon swapping this means it will get next to no use. My Guardian staff is coupled with the hammer and I only switch to staff for swiftness and some might stacks (with healing) then quickly switch back. The Revenant won’t be able to do this. I’ve said it before, I was all for no weapon swapping at first, but when I see these types of weapons I see it is going to be a major issue. I’d surely take staff as a secondary weapon, but not my only weapon.

Given that Ventari was a peace loving centaur, I don’t see staff as being high in dps.

The faster a conflict is resolved, the sooner peacefulness can resume.

What’s more peaceful than an adversary incapacitated by a friendly whack up side the head with a big stick? :-D

Considering Ventari wouldn’t life a finger to even save his own home/life in Prophecies, I’m actually surprised that we can fight at all while in his stance.

Perhaps that is built in. Maybe the entire time we channel him he complains and objects to our killing and using his power in battle. Similar to how Mallyx doesn’t like us using his power based on his dialog. The legends don’t seem to have a direct choice in whether we use their power or not.

This but they can punish the revenant like Mallyx does by putting conditions on the revenant. Though i doubt Ventari would to that even if he dislikes being used for not peaceful things…

This is my thoughts exactly. Ventari won’t like it and could hurt us (like Mallyx), however won’t because he is a pacifist. So, he can’t stop us from using his power, and he won’t hurt us because of his ideals. Seems Ventari is in a bit of a bind

Lore foul! Ventari was a pacifist to its furthest extreme. He would never lend his strength and abilities to any soldier or warrior, even for defense and healing.

A few of his only lines:
“…peace is the path I walk. I must remain neutral.”
" I wish to live in peace, and you and your kind are not capable of anything but war. My kin are not much better, it is true, but I have chosen a different path."
[But the Mantle will kill us all!]
“I am sorry. I do not wish you ill, but neither can I help you.”
[Have you no heart?]
“If it is “heart” that brings one to kill another, then no I don’t. In these times, a peaceful mind does more good than a violent heart. …"

(from http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/White_Mantle_Wrath:_A_Helping_Hand )

Unless channeling Ventari also disables/replaces weapon skills, stealing his spirit to fight a war is a mockery of who he is and what he stands for.

Perhaps that is built in. Maybe the entire time we channel him he complains and objects to our killing and using his power in battle. Similar to how Mallyx doesn’t like us using his power based on his dialog. The legends don’t seem to have a direct choice in whether we use their power or not.

Somebody stated in another post that Glint would be the elite. And it spear/shield.

Said it was pulled from a data mine, but I no idea if the claim is factual.

There is no confirmation or even true evidence of this. Datamined was Ventari/Shiro/Glint for legends and also sword MH/sword OH/Sheild/Staff/Spear were datamined for weapons.

Some people believe that there will be four standard legends (Jalis/Mallyx/Ventari/Shiro) and one legend for their elite spec (Glint). Others believe that there will be 5 standard legends (including Glint) and the elite specialization will be something completely different and unknown.

In the end, many people make statements on the forums as if their educated guess is fact. Don’t get drawn in by those people. The facts are as I presented, anything further is conjecture to believe or disbelieve at your leisure until things are officially released.

Not everything has to be high dps power weapon to have a use.

I’m curious about that new AI they developed. If they’re smart, it’s quite possible that we will see a need for bonus healing and support in PvE beyond reflect walls.

AGAIN….. NOT asking for ALL weapons to be high DPS and AGAIN I’ve said weapons have/need rolls, Axe/Mace are Condi on Rev so far.

AGAIN I just want STAFF to be the Zerk choice of weapon NOT all weapons.

Wow, somebody’s feathers are rather ruffled.

On topic, I would have preferred staff to be a DPS weapon as I wanted to use it in PvE and I just don’t see a huge need for that kind of healing and knockback (which are often counter productive in PvE) support. I would love to use melee staff for the idea of it, but will likely have a different weapon set for my time in PvE.

On a somewhat related note, if we could have weapon swapping I’m sure staff would have use in PvE, but without it I think it will be a rarely seen weapon in that game mode.

I concur and have said as much in the dozen or so other threads just like this one. 1 legend each for the first 4 traitlines. 1 traitline that is more associated with the mechanics and not tied to a legend exactly. Then 1 legend plus some sort of core mechanic change for each elite specialization.

I also guess that Glint will be the specialization legend and since Rytlock seems to use her, he is likely using the elite specialization himself.

In regards to the staff, it seems like a great secondary weapon if we could weapon swap, but I just can’t see myself taking it into battle over other weapon sets except in very specific ways. The more I see the weapons, the more I see they basically lock you in to a specific style and don’t lend well to blending. At first I was completely on board with not having a weapon swap with Revenant, but the more they reveal the more I think that is extremely limiting.

As for Ventari legend, it seem a bit cumbersome, but then I’d like to see it in action first.

Perhaps you found something I missed?

http://www.polygon.com/features/2015/2/18/8061219/guild-wars-2-profession-reveal-revenant-pc-mmo-arenanet

Cronacher describes one of Jalis’ utility skills. Revenants using this legend will be able to call down a rune from the sky that damages and weakens enemies as it descends. Once it actually hits the ground, it will push enemies away in order to form a safe space for allies.

Its something we havent seen yet.

I too read that article quite some time ago. This is far from a confirmation of 4 utility skills. It was a description of a skill interpreted by the third party and the skill is suspiciously similar to Unyielding Anguish. It is at least just as likely that the skill was reworked and moved to Mallyx.

Simply read the description of that skill, change the word “rune” to “leap” and the condition from “weakness” to “torment” and it is Unyielding Anguish.

I’m not saying there won’t be more skills, in fact I hope so and commented on it in forum posts after the reveal blog post. I’m just saying you can’t read too much into that article’s description of a skill’s concept and assume it means there are unrevealed Jalis skills.

Um..thats right but anguish is already there in the article

“Peters also mentions a Mallyx skill called Unyielding Anguish. When used, players will be able to target an area on the ground. Then they’ll leap at that area, displacing all enemies from it. "

Like i said all classes except enginner has 4 utility skills, so are specializations. Why revenant would be different here? I could understand 3 utlity skills if there was 6th legend coming but it doesnt.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but would say that stating it in a factual way is reading too much into it. In the end, we’ll see, but I personally don’t think we’ll see that skill in game.

Just remember. Fair does not necessarily mean equal. And equal does not always mean fair. Anet has said as much themselves on a variety of topics. Our facts are simply what they’ve officially released via blogs and/or red posts. Anything more than that is pure speculation.

I’m not saying there won’t be more skills, in fact I hope so and commented on it in forum posts after the reveal blog post. I’m just saying you can’t read too much into that article’s description of a skill’s concept and assume it means there are unrevealed Jalis skills.

Still, would be nice to have a consolidated area to talk about the Revenant. Look at how many threads have been devoted to them already. I’d think it would be easier for the devs to find feedback and suggestions for this profession as well. And while it is still in development would be a good time for them to really look hard at those kinds of things.

They have 4 utilities, but they showed us olny 3 so far.

Source? I’ve been following the Revenant closely since they announced the profession and never came across this. I’ve seen devs say they haven’t ruled out the possibility (as they say about a lot of things), but never anything even suggesting they are actually planning to do it. Perhaps you found something I missed?

I found something I loathe more than bearbow longbow #4 spammers: the mallyx skill that keeps teleporting mobs out of the circle. So annoying especially with the lag that results in enemies leashing/teleporting back into the circle only to be moved out again.

It has its uses when done right. Like covering people from griffons while they were trying to move eggs to giving NPCs you need to protect some breathing room. But yes, most players had no idea when they should use it.

Agreed, I found it very useful during many of the night missions protecting soldiers. I also found it a good escape and recover a bit skill by casting it at my own location when being overwhelmed by mobs (I put myself in this position to see how it worked a few times).

Speed Mushrooms
(Not going to lie, my inner middle schooler found this name greatly amusing.)
It got annoying while exploring that every time I ran by a the speed boost mushrooms, I would get the red text of doom warning me I didn’t have “Blazing Speed Mushrooms [mastery track] unlocked”. I’m guessing the intended mechanic is be like the Velocity Elixirs in SWs, but there’s no need to have warning text just for drive-bys.

It seemed to me, on this map anyway, that the mushroom track is simply a convenience mastery. I didn’t run into a single area that had a mushroom (such as bouncing mushroom) that you couldn’t get to by going a slightly longer way. Not sure if this is just coincidence for this area or if it is fully intended to be just a convenience track.

I posted this on another thread as well, but is relevant here as well…

Revenant:
-I’m reserving full judgement until we know more about the other legends, traits, and weapons, so take this with a grain of salt
-Class Mechanic is fun and I think well thought out. Overall I like the energy management and legend swapping
-Hammer is very slow and low damage. If we were able to swap weapons, I’d say this was ok, however since we can’t swap in combat I think this weapon needs some tweaking to make it a viable weapon choice
-Mace is not bad for a condi weapon. My only suggestion would be to decrease the cast time on skill 2. It costs energy to use as well, so I think the long cast is unnecessary and slows down an otherwise decently timed weapon
-Axe offhand was wonderful, don’t change a thing (loved skill 4)
-Jalis was overall not bad, but not really my cup of tea. I do really like skill 7 though. The elite has a very long cast time that I think should be reduced as it felt very sluggish to use and when I wanted it (before I foresee a big hit coming) the cast time often made it not so useful. Also, would be helpful if we actually knew what the “damage reduction” really was.
-Mallyx was enjoyable for me (though I noticed most stayed in Jalis) overall. The elite was useful, but I think the energy drain either needs to be reduced, or the stat increase of 10% should be tweaked up.
-In general, I didn’t like how you couldn’t use skills that have an energy drain while you were out of combat. Although I can understand why this is so, there were some situations where I was running up on an enemy and wanted to activate one of these skills, but couldn’t because I wasn’t yet in combat with them.

So, here’s hoping that we get more information on the Revenant soon so we can look at more legends and weapons. I think this class could be great for me, but the play style presented currently just aren’t exactly for me (though interesting enough).

Map:
-Absolutely beautiful. The part with the Itzel was amazing, if a bit complicated to get around at first.
-I was a bit bummed that I couldn’t find a place to use my Exalted Mastery that I leveled up, but got over it pretty quickly
-The event with the Wyvern attacking the Itzel was cool, though it did bug out on me a bit when trying to get the water buckets

Story:
-What little there was to have seemed solid. Our char. talking was a huge improvement (even though I don’t like human voices and vernacular).
-Can’t wait to see more of Rytlock and how he will react to Caithe (and my main who is Sylvari)

Mastery System:
-At first I had trouble figuring out what do do with the mastery point I received, but eventually figured it out. It isn’t very intuitive for new player I don’t think, but isn’t bad once you take a few minutes to sit down with it.
-As mentioned above, wish I could have used the mastery I leveled up

Quite literally if you type in “UTC to GMT” in google it tells you as the first option. As others have mentioned they are the same by the way. This works with any time zone. For example, if I put in “PST to EST” it shows there is a three hour difference.

Much easier to use google than forums…
